Jeez, I hope that I'm wrong about this.

(Gloob Strikeback trailer speculation, obvious spoilers)

So what did we see hints of in the trailer du jour?

1) Ladybug giving the Dog to whom she thinks is Adrien.

2) Fighty fight big fight!

3) Adrien says, roughly, "You gave the Dog to Felix, not me." And Ladybug is horrified by that.

4) Felix does Felix things and presumably ends up on top of the situation, as always. Whether he makes off with the Dog, the Peacock (which SHOULD be his main goal, as it would preserve his own threatened existence and make "Last Attack of Shadowmoth" accurate by making him Hawkmoth again), or more of them than those is open to debate.

5) Marinette's voice sobbing at the end about how she's lost.

Now, here's the thing.

(Sidebar first: If Felix turns out to be the Big Bad of season 5, I am going to throw up in my hat a little. I don't like the character, I don't like how he's the cleverest little bastard on the continent, I don't like the idea that Hawkmoth's downfall/downgrade is not because of Marinette's tenacity and brilliance or Adrien's bravery and willpower but because Mr. La La La I'm A Teenage Secret Agent waltzes in and derails everything.

But there might be ONE way to make him want the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous and feel extremely determined to make that happen:

I could have been controlled by whoever obtained my ring. I could have been killed by Uncle Gabriel with a finger-snap. If those two Miraculous can rewrite the universe... I WILL be a real boy.)

But skip past the sidebar for a minute. Why would Felix having the Dog instead of Adrien bother her so much that she'd be sobbing about how all is lost? He's kind of a dick, true, but he's not Hawkmoth; he's someone whom she should be able to track down and confront about it. Adrien has his address. He can't run from Ladybug.

Unless...

...unless something that Marinette's never had the courage to do, but has a little Risk buglet in her brain pushing her to do right now (there HAD to be a reason why "my Akuma will make the heroes do risky things" was part of the finale, wasn't there?) happens during the episode?

Maybe it happens during the Miraculous delivery. Maybe it happens when they're staring at the SpikeBot 3000 Apocalypse and thinking "we may not get out of this alive." But at some point, Ladybug turns to Dogdrien and says...

"I need you to know this. I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng... and I'm very much in love with you."

So now there's a new situation to contend with. Felix is a major wild card, he has at least two Miraculous, and he knows precisely whom Ladybug is and that she's in love with his cousin. The confession that she'd been building up to for four seasons went to the wrong boy. Are her family safe? Her friends? The Kwamis?

Compromised much?

I am! You can search dogrien AU on my blog and it should pull up posts I've made about it, but in a nutshell, it is an AU I came up with forever ago in like s2 at some point where I was thinking that it's awfully convenient for Hawkmoth that Master Fu sent out the two miraculouses that he needed to accomplish his goal, and I was like lol what if Fu just decided to give him the finger and send out only one of the ones he needed and then give Adrien a different miraculous so even if they fail, he still only has one of the miraculouses that he needs. So this birthed Dogrien because I decided to give him the dog instead of the cat. So the whole fic is basically rewriting a lot of things for what would have happened if he had the dog instead of the cat, and I was like ya know may as well rewrite and fix a lot of issues I had with canon along the way.

I want to start it when s3 is officially over because I am only planning to write through the end of s3 and have that be the end of it because I'm also changing up s3 in its entirety for this fic so yee. I'm hoping to get origins part 1 out this week after Felix airs at some point. I'm going to update that on sporadically until I get through a couple other fics then I will update it more regularly.

if anybody is interested, another name that we were considering is Golden Boy but I think we're sticking with Toutoufaire!

okay I promise I’ll shut about about adrien and dogs soon (that's a lie I'm never going to shut up about it) but I just need to say that I KNOW I have multiple times compared him to a dog in my fics and I just need to put it on the record that it is always 110% on purpose and deliberate. I’ve been saying this for ages. he’s a dog please especially when he’s hurt and scared and trying to run away but he always comes back with a bird in his teeth… tail between his legs... and he bites because he's scared... he's pretty sure he's a good dog and he wants to be a good dog but he doesn't know how else to keep himself safe... how else to keep the people he loves safe... he wants to be gentle at his core but he's scared and no one has ever shown him how else to love and sometimes he plays too rough... he's sorry he didn't mean to bite please come back... like DUDE cmon it's all right there please

Hey, another thing came to me pertaining to Dogdrien while I was with my dog. I’ve seen fics where Adrien starts craving fish and other meats since wearing the ring, and I was wondering if, for Adrien in this AU, he gets some weird cravings? Like craving peanut butter? Which would be especially weird since I’m pretty sure non Americans don’t really like peanut butter?

Lol, I’ll have to think about what I want his tendencies to be if they’re even that prominent. It will depend. They likely won’t be super prevalent to the story, but just extra little things added in for fun every now and then in episodes like Animan or Prime Queen where they were in canon.
