Wanted to share a major win for my assistance dog in training, Arwen, and I. Since a puppy we have been socialising, going out and about, conditioning Arwen to gentle handling, harnesses and other equipment, introducing training in small achievable steps, and most importantly having fun. 🐕‍🦺🐾🌈🐶 Yesterday we decided to try being indoors together at a familiar cafe (thank you @thefullpantry !) after practicing calm settles outside. Arwen blew me away with how calm and focussed she was - it was like she had done this a million times. I gave her lots of cuddles, verbal praise, and delicious treats to acknowledge her awesome efforts. It just goes to show how important it is building your dog’s confidence, going at their pace and setting up for success! Relationships between species is paramount. Dogs trust and build relationships with us, and now it's up to the kittens to build a relationship with Vali.
