I'm not dunking on anyone, I'm trying to clarify policy and the political process, emphasizing that the distinctions matter. I don't cushion my tone because I'm not interested in distracting from the substance of my point. I emphasize areas where there isn't a "why" to emphasize what does and doesn't make sense as a framework for approaching policy effectively, which I'm in a position to do because, as I allude to in my post, I am speaking from a professional knowledge base. This isn't about you, nor are you beholden to explain yourself to me. I am reblogging with replies to tags where I can add information or context that is useful for a broader audience and to clarify the substantive or procedural matters discussed.

It is frustrating to me that I have to then muddle the substantive discussion with assurances that this isn't some elaborate setup to insult anyone. I wouldn't care if you were being passive aggressive, because this isn't about you or me or any individual ego: this is about an expansion of US executive power over a matter which impacts literally anyone with any connection to the global economy.

I typically keep work/Tumblr separate nowadays, but the Senate passed the TikTok bill, and the President is aching to sign it.

It's wildly unlikely TikTok will manage to divest within 270 days, and the potential three month extension won't do much either, so this amounts to a ban. But more than just TikTok, the language of the bill-soon-to-be-law grants the President incredibly broad authority to ban or force the sale of other foreign-owned apps, too, especially given its very expansive definition of "foreign-owned apps."

I don't have a particular call to action that I care to offer here. But, it's something people (not only US citizens) should be aware of, as this is a pretty big fucking deal.

A little concept sketch of my Gravity Falls self insert! And as you can see, she's a werewolf! 0u0

She's normally in her first form when she's out and about, and when it's getting close to the full moon she looks like her second form before going full wolf! During that time period she starts getting a powerful craving for raw meat and she gets really itchy as her fur starts coming in, then the ears and tail follow! (At first glance I'm sure most of the townsfolk would just think she was a furry 😂)

In general she's very cheery, and she exhibits a lot of dog-like behavior (getting excited when the doorbell rings, noticing and perking up when she sees squirrels, shaking her whole body when she gets wet) and she has a somewhat irrational fear of rabies so she's not a very good hunter and actually tends to AVOID wild animals in the forest and stray dogs/cats. When she moves to Gravity Falls she opens a curios and oddities shop with her partner in crime, which a certain conman sees as competition, leading him and the mystery twins to go check it out 👀❓️
