FANDOM : midnight mass (2021) PAIRING : father paul hill x afab!fem!reader RATING : explicit 🔞 WORDCOUNT : 17.3k
Reader POV. Seeking peace and a sense of self, you pack up your life and move to a small fishing village in the Pacific Northwest.
You're not prepared for what you find there.
Read on AO3 here.
🔔 Only including an excerpt of the first thousand or so words under the cut, as Tumblr formatting hates longwinded porn!
Canon-divergent. Takes place in an alternative version of Episodes 1-4.
Blasphemy and filth fueled by religious guilt and repression. Hierophilia. Reader is agnostic and has no prior ties to the Catholic Church. Mutual pining (but make it weird). Having horny thoughts about a priest (and Christianity in general). Lots of yearning and pondering. Second person.
⚠️ Canonical animal death is mentioned. Blood-laced communion wine is given to the reader without her knowledge. Implied/referenced drug addiction (if you tilt your head slightly to the left). Age gap (20/30-something malaise and mental unwellness featured throughout). Dubious consent and coercion. Reader has no idea what she's gotten herself in for. Honestly, neither does he. ⚠️
When the smut rolls around: Body worship and oral (reader receiving). Soggy sub-leaning behavior from Peepaw Monsignor Father Paul. Because we deserve it. Weird sensory overload vampire sex. Lots of religious themes and motifs.
What can I say? 'Cause this is his body, this is his love. Such selfish prayers and I can't enough. Or whatever.
And I will pour upon you clean water, and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness, and I will cleanse you from all your idols.
And I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:25-26
The thing in the grass sees you far before you see it.
Later, you’ll find yourself wondering just how long it was watching you. It doesn’t really matter. Long enough.
Right now, you’re trying to count. It shouldn’t be that hard. Part of you knows that, but the other part doesn’t seem to be paying attention. Your brain does that sometimes—slips a bit, gives up halfway through.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6—
You’ve gotten to seven again when you finally catch a glimpse of it. It’s barely much of anything, just a flicker of movement in your periphery. By that point, it’s already making its way towards you. The grass rustles furiously as it moves, tunneling its way into your full attention. You watch curiously as a head erupts out of the stalks.
It’s a cat.
The realization comes with a sting. Spitting a curse out, you drop the knife. The price of your distraction bubbles to the surface of your finger, bright red and angry. A few drops of it speckle the orange slices you’ve been cutting.
Out the window, the cat is still watching you.
A thought flashes wryly in your mind. If you’re trying to make a habit out of injuring yourself, you might want to schedule it around the ferries. You imagine it coming from the cat, doused in unimpressed feline judgment.
Rinsing your hand off under the tap, you inspect the damage. It’s nothing to be worried about—just a shallow cut—but those were the ones that bled the most. Even now, you could see a fresh bead of red blooming on your skin.
Popping one of the tarnished oranges in your mouth, you head to the bathroom to fish in the medicine cabinet. The bandages you have aren’t big enough for the gash, but you lay one on top of it anyway, smoothing the edges out.
You’ll be more careful next time.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6—
It makes sense that your favorite is what throws off the count. Seven was a good number. The best number, really. Lucky.
You’d chosen to move on the seventh month of the year, seven years into a job that was only as good as it was good enough. You’d been fine. Managing. Navigating adulthood seemed to amount to nothing more than days spent playing connect-the-dots between headaches, shaking ibuprofen into your palm.
Throughout it all, seven had been there, tucked into addresses, stamped onto licensed plates—seemingly assigned to you in particular.
In this sea of banality, there was a small thrill to the idea of something that existed solely for you.
Overhead, the sky is an icy blue, darted through by clouds that look like wrung out dishtowels. Making your way down the front steps, your bag thumps dully against your thigh.
You’re thinking in numbers again. Counting steps, doors.
Salt hangs in air, blasted back against the faded paint of the buildings. Husks of them sit like dried-out cicada shells, brittle and abandoned. With no one to fill them, they seem to blur into the backdrop of the island—stationary outcroppings of the land, just as still as the boulders along the beach.
Here and there, whispers of chimney smoke curl into the air. They were stubborn declarations of life—made by equally stubborn people. Each came from families that felt as old as the ground under your feet, generations on generations whittled down over time. Their faded American flags jut out from front porches, battered folding chairs sitting in overgrown yards. They were here to stay, for better or for worse.
You shiver. There’s an unmistakable chill present in the air, making you regret leaving your gloves at the house. The wind stings your face as you turn the corner. It’s cold out here and it’s only to grow colder still. You wonder if you’ll ever get used to it. You hope you will. After all, this was home now.
For-ever, for-now? You weren’t quite sure yet.
Months into your assumed ownership of the house, unpacked boxes still sit in your living room. Your walls are still bare. The wind chimes you bought are languishing in a plastic bag under the sink. It’s hardly much of a home, but you’ll get to it, you will. That line of thinking works for a bit, but promises of tomorrow have the habit of extending into the next week, and then the week after that. Now, it all just felt like a vague hint of eventually, bookended with maybe.
You weren’t sure why you’d thought that moving here would imbue you with some great sense of motivation. The whole place seemed antithetical to that sort of thing. Things just moved slower out here. It was difficult to feel rushed. Whatever urgency Crockett might have had was just as weatherbeaten and tired as the houses that lined the road. You look at them as you walk, balling your hands into fists and shoving them into your coat pockets.
There are small victories, though, you remind yourself. Minor progress. Finally having run out of clean clothes, you’ve had to give up living out of your suitcase. Your hand was forced, of course, but it was something.
You change direction, stepping off the path.
Down at the edge of the shore, someone is walking slowly along the water.
Your eyes alight on a large piece of driftwood, bleached bone white on the sand. You’d claimed it as your own a few weeks in—easy to do on a beach as lonesome as this one. Sitting down, you pull out your book, giving the cover a cursory glance before opening it. It’s the same one you’ve been starting-stopping-starting again the entire time you’ve been here.
You’re a few paragraphs in, fingertips starting to numb in the cold, when the distraction hits. The words feel tired, on this, your thousandth time attempting to read them. Your eyes slip down the page, scrambling the letters into a cluttered mass of black scribbles.
Twisting your head away from the incomprehensible blur, you find yourself staring at a beached boat. It sits lopsided on a tangle of long yellow reeds, windows coated with a thick sheen of sand. A bent fishing cage sits on its bow, sea grass collecting under it. Despite the debris, it’s difficult to gauge just how long it might have been marooned for. After all, everything eventually ended up looking like that out here.
You can just about make out a number painted on the side of the hull, faded and dull.
7.
“Pardon me, young lady.” Startled out of your thoughts, you look up. An elderly man stands in front of you, clutching his hat in his hands. He’s the one you saw down by the water when you arrived.
“I don’t believe we’ve met.” The breeze upsets his hair, whipping white strands of it around his head. “I hope you’ll give grace to a very old man if he’s incorrect.”
You came here for isolation and you’re finding anything but. People seek you out, they want to know you—or rather, know of you. Where you’re from, how long you’re planning on staying. Why you chose this place, out of all the places.
“No, you’re right.” You give him a polite smile, closing your book. “I just moved here.”
“May I?” He gestures at the space on the log next to you.
“Absolutely.”
You watch with anticipatory concern as he slowly shuffles forward. He lists to the right, carefully bracing his hand on the wood. With a groan, he finally lowers himself down beside you.
“Would you do me the privilege of telling me your name?” he asks. “Young lady of whom I’ve never met?”
You tell him and he gives a decided tut, as if he’s committing it to memory.
“What’s yours?” you ask.
He seems to consider the question deeply, his brow creasing in concentration. Letting out a breath, he drums his fingers absently on his knee.
“John,” he finally says. “There’s a whole lot of—” he gestures vaguely out in front of him, his mouth pulling into an unimpressed frown. “—hoopla after the John. Before the John, too. But you know, I, uh, I can’t be bothered with all that today. Today, well…” his words trail off. “Today I’d very much like to be John. Just John.”
“You’ve got it, Just John.”
“A young lady with a sense of humor,” he chuckles. You follow his gaze as it drifts back to the ocean. Gulls dip and dart in the air above the waves, barely more than specks of white in the distance. “Now that’s something quite special.”
The silence that settles around both of you is a tranquil one, full of the rush of waves and the chirps of bird song. He’s very still beside you, staring out at the water. The moment hangs, extends. He blinks slowly, mumbling something under his breath. You almost feel as if he’s forgotten you’re there.
You wait. Eventually, you lower your eyes, flipping your book open. You manage to get to the end of the chapter before he speaks again.
“I must confess, I did have ulterior motives for coming out here today,” he says conversationally, as if no time has passed. “If I’m to be perfectly frank, young lady, I’m quite the suspicious character.”
“Is that true?” You look over at him, raising your brows.
“Oh, yes,” he replies brightly. Lowering his voice, his tone takes on a playfully conspiratorial edge. “I’m on the run today, actually.”
“From the law?” You smile.
“Sometimes it does feel like that,” he sighs. “No. My pursuers are, um, very kind people. Quite well-meaning.”
“So why’d you run?” You stuff the book back into your bag.
“They try to stop me from taking my walks.” He shakes his head. “But I won’t. Not on days like this. Not while I’m…here. I’ve been having less of these, truth be told.”
You watch his face.
“That’s a secret, by the way,” he says softly. “I shouldn’t have those, but I do.”
“I feel like everyone does.”
John hums out a noncommittal noise, shifting beside you on the log. Fishing in the pocket of his coat, he pulls out a small metal tin. You glance over at it as he cracks the lid open. It’s filled with an assortment of chalky-looking candy. Selecting a peppermint from the top, he raises it slowly to his lips.
“Don’t get old,” he says, extending the tin towards you. His hand trembles a bit with the effort. “Live as long as you can, but don’t get old.”
“I’ll try my best.” You nod, plucking out a piece of bright yellow candy.
“Very good.” He smiles gently over at you. “Enjoy.”
You pop the candy into your mouth as he snaps the tin shut. It’s lemon, sugary and just a touch stale. The taste is a nostalgic one. It slots in perfectly with everything else about him, ubiquitously grandfatherly.
“Thanks, John.”
“See, John sounds right, doesn’t it?” He exhales deeply, turning back to the ocean. “You’re very welcome.”
You return home. You count and then recount. You think about secrets and count them too. You’re not sure if you have seven anymore.
For all intents and purposes, you had disappeared. You were fairly professional at it. People cared initially, but the longer the gulf grew, the less they did. It was a blameless thing.
You always had a foot out the door of your own life. Self-sabotage and self-preservation were things you fumbled for in the dark. You always grabbed the wrong one, but you never noticed until it was too late.
Another blameless thing. They felt the same at first.
You imagined the lives you had vanished out of as gulls, bobbing at the surface of the water. They barely flew, those birds—just opened up their wings and let themselves be caught by the wind. It was the only sensible thing to do in response to something so inescapable.
You unlatch the window and crack it open. You breathe, you think, you count.
It was possible that the people you’d known weren’t the gulls at all. Maybe that was just you, a resident of nowhere in particular. Living in moments you’d just happened to end up in, ambivalent to a future that might exist past your next meal. It was an unfortunate thought.
Or maybe you aren’t any of those things. The thought came in a flat, unimpressed voice—the one you’d imagined for the cat outside your window. It’s gone now, but you can still picture those eyes. Amber, wide and unblinking.
It was correct, of course. You weren’t the parasitic maw in the shape of a bird, nor the wind that carried it. You couldn’t be. It was a hollow triumph to know that you were just a person and had always been one.
If you were anything, you wish you were the ocean. Impartial and vast and beautiful. Since you weren’t, you settle for filling your lungs with the salt of her exhale.

Hello there :"3
Small health update i should write here too.
for those of you who know from instagram i have had my meds recently changed in hopes of giving me more energy which instead wrecked my nervous system and caused alot of damage.
first ofc i have to apologize for my absence and that theres something new with me every time that yall have to deal with every once in a while but thankyou for going through this healing journey with me as i get better... or deteriorate XD
now then, i need to write here that first of all, im getting better from the initial damage and severe continuous panic/anxiety attacks the pills caused and the headaches from crying has subsided, however i think im still going to need another day or two to get the effects out of my system fully, but im going to need to go back to taking depressants again sadly. my hands are still shaking and i need to constantly distract myself due to cortizol levels still not fully decreased.
my stomach and intestines are royally destroyed and my IBS has been killing me- and more things that i need to continuously take painkillers for [3 diff types of painkillers today alone at different hours and this is me feeling BETTER. ] it also does not help that i cannot eat or drink because im nauseous but i know if i dont ill get even more nauseous... sigh.
my doctor told me to go back to my old meds to see if ill feel better again and if not she will give me another appointment.
i do not wish this experience on anyone...
anyway PLEASE DO NOT REACH OUT TO ME-
i appreciate the well wishes truely but it only increases the anxiety if too many people are messaging me at once, i just needed to post this for people to know why im inactive.

I kind of want to hear more about like Jamie trying to manage having a chronic illness while also being like a professional athlete. (although we are giving our issues with things to people I have a strong feeling Roy is prone to like tension headaches. )
You lot are feeding me well tonight :)))))
Listen - IBS Jamie is purely for my own joy tbh there is nothing in canon even if I did make a list of some things that could apply >>>> you can find it here
It's a bullshit diagnosis anyway, cause even doctors don't know what is wrong and say it to dismiss you. So I can see him having all these issues and when he does all the tests there is nothing wrong with him and they say it's all in his head and he has to learn to live with it and manage it (there are some studies that bring on the hypothesis that there might be a link to physical, emotional or sexual abuse in childhood and with trauma in general which fits the bill with him, but I am too dumb to actually understand them but oh hey this is fiction we can do what we want!)
From my experience, exercise can be both a very good and a very bad thing. Usually fine during, but when you push too much you might feel unwell and we know he 100% over-does it. I can see him struggling with accepting he needs to put limits in place, he has to allow his body to rest and has to have regular meals etc He would be very frustrated with it. Personally it's actually fucked up my confidence massively as my therapist put it "have you ever thought that your lack of confidence also comes from not being able to ever trust your own body?" funny lady isn't she my own Doc
I think Roy having his own chronic issues (that man hurts just look at him lol but I can see headaches for sure) is actually very understanding once Jamie manages to open up about it which takes a long time >> bootroom breakdown is so spot on for being in the middle of a flare when you are still expected to operate at 110% but you're exhausted, lack of sleep is making it worse, you're bloated as fuck and your tummy hurts and you can't bother with anything (hair, personal care etc) and you just want to curl up and cry >>> Roy helping him put things in place to help like making a meal plan with the doctors of low fodmap items and ensuring the canteen is aware, always having cozy clothing around that is loose around the waist and a heat pad ready to go in the office, well stocked cabinet of ibs friendly tea (he's a tea guy anyway!), he suggest a meditation/yoga session for the afternoons and he makes jamie keep a food/symptoms diary (which then he ends up keeping cause jamie is not organised at all and roy is sorting out 90% of hid meals anyway!!). He also makes him see Dr Sharon because stress can make it worse!
Oh and Roy does gift him this too:

Fun facts that will be deleted later:
I am clinically diagnosed with IBS-D/M, hypertension, GAD, bipolar II with major depressive disorder. Also type 2 diabetic. Half diagnosed spine issues. Probably auto immune issues.
Also I'm autistic, 99% sure I have ADHD
annnnd chronic migraines as of the last few years. They are not every day, but between 4-5 days a week depending on whats triggering that migraine.
It is not yet diagnosed. Have not had money for the doctors I would need for this one. I only have ideas of what causes them based on what helps.
Common triggers are--
* My period. (Im on depoprovera, so this is rarely an issue)
* Allergies. Specifically for sinus focused headaches. I'll also get these headaches any time I have upper resp. Issues.
* Neck Strain. Stretching helps. Heating pad helps. Not sitting at my desk like a shrimp. Not sleeping weird. Yeah all that helps for these migraines. Also, CBD pain relief cream.
* sometimes, more rarely, spinal issues. I have deterioration and some...weirdness in spine that pinches a lot of things randomly.
* blood sugar. Usually if it hits 200+. Relaxation techniques and LOTS of water for this one because I am on metformin, not insulin. Also take your medicine correctly you turd. (At myself, lovingly) Did you know stress can increase your blood sugar? Yeah.
* rarely, high blood pressure. My blood pressure is usually pretty good these days though.
* I B S . FUCK YOU IBS. FUCK YOU. WHY DOES A STOMACH ACHE GIVE ME A HEADACHE. YOU ARE THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
Yeah. I am a shambling house of issues. I am not sure I remembered to list them all. Anyway i hate headaches and migraines and pain. My body is rude. I'm going to sip water now.

How does stress impact physical health, and what are the best ways to manage it?
"Stress and Your Body: The Hidden Toll on Physical Health (And How to Fight Back)"
Let’s face it: Stress is a part of life. Whether it’s work deadlines, family drama, or just the chaos of modern living, we’ve all felt that tightness in our chest or the knot in our stomach. But here’s the thing: Stress isn’t just a mental burden—it wreaks havoc on your physical health too.
From sleepless nights to a weakened immune system, chronic stress can silently sabotage your well-being. The good news? You can fight back. Here’s how stress impacts your body and the best ways to manage it.
How Stress Messes With Your Physical Health Stress isn’t just “in your head.” It triggers a cascade of physical responses that can harm your body over time.
1. Weakens Your Immune System
What happens: Chronic stress floods your body with cortisol, suppressing immune function.
The result: You’re more likely to catch colds, infections, or even take longer to recover from illnesses.
2. Wrecks Your Heart
What happens: Stress raises blood pressure and heart rate, increasing the risk of heart disease.
The result: Long-term stress can lead to hypertension, heart attacks, or strokes.
3. Disrupts Your Digestion
What happens: Stress triggers “fight or flight,” diverting energy away from digestion.
The result: Bloating, cramps, acid reflux, or even irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
4. Ruins Your Sleep
What happens: Stress keeps your mind racing, making it hard to fall or stay asleep.
The result: Poor sleep = fatigue, weight gain, and even more stress.
5. Causes Muscle Tension and Pain
What happens: Stress makes your muscles tighten, leading to headaches, back pain, or jaw clenching.
The result: Chronic pain that feeds into the stress cycle.
The Best Ways to Manage Stress (Without Losing Your Mind) Managing stress isn’t about eliminating it completely—it’s about building resilience and finding healthy coping mechanisms. Here’s how:
1. Move Your Body
Why it helps: Exercise releases endorphins, your brain’s natural mood boosters.
What to do: Walk, dance, yoga, or even stretch for 10 minutes.
2. Practice Mindfulness
Why it helps: Mindfulness reduces cortisol and calms your nervous system.
What to do: Meditate, journal, or take 5 deep breaths daily.
3. Prioritize Sleep
Why it helps: Sleep repairs your body and resets your stress response.
What to do: Create a bedtime routine (no screens, cool room, calming tea).
4. Connect With Others
Why it helps: Social support lowers stress hormones and boosts mood.
What to do: Call a friend, join a group, or hug a loved one.
5. Laugh More
Why it helps: Laughter reduces cortisol and increases feel-good hormones.
What to do: Watch a comedy, play with your pet, or reminisce about funny memories.
6. Set Boundaries
Why it helps: Overcommitting drains energy and increases stress.
What to do: Learn to say no and prioritize self-care.
The Bottom Line Stress is inevitable, but its impact on your physical health doesn’t have to be. By incorporating small, consistent habits—like moving your body, practicing mindfulness, and prioritizing sleep—you can build resilience and protect your well-being.
One Last Thing: You’re not alone in this. Stress is a universal experience, and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it.
What’s your go-to stress-busting trick? Share below—let’s help each other stay healthy and sane! 🌿💬

Why You Should Consider a Food Intolerance Test in Dubai for Better Health

Introduction
Have you ever felt bloated, tired, or uncomfortable after eating certain foods? Do you experience frequent headaches, skin issues, or digestive problems? These symptoms might be signs of food intolerance. Many people in Dubai and around the world suffer from food intolerance without even realizing it.
A Food Intolerance Test in Dubai can help identify the foods that may be causing discomfort and health issues. Dr. Mahesh Katre offers advanced food intolerance testing in Dubai to help you understand your body better and improve your overall health. In this article, we will explore what food intolerance is, how it affects your body, and why getting tested can be beneficial.
What is Food Intolerance?
Food intolerance is when your body has difficulty digesting certain foods, leading to unpleasant symptoms. It is different from a food allergy, which is a severe and immediate immune system reaction. Food intolerance symptoms may take hours or even days to appear, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.
Some common food intolerances include:
Lactose intolerance (difficulty digesting dairy products)
Gluten intolerance (sensitivity to wheat and other grains)
Fructose intolerance (trouble digesting certain fruits and sweeteners)
Histamine intolerance (reaction to aged foods, wine, and some vegetables)
Signs and Symptoms of Food Intolerance
Food intolerance can cause a variety of symptoms that affect different parts of the body. Common signs include:
Digestive Issues: Bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and stomach pain
Skin Problems: Acne, rashes, eczema, and itching
Headaches and Migraines: Frequent unexplained headaches
Fatigue and Low Energy: Feeling tired even after resting well
Joint and Muscle Pain: Unexplained aches and pains
Mood Changes: Anxiety, depression, or mood swings
Weight Gain or Difficulty Losing Weight: Struggling with weight management despite a healthy diet
Why Get a Food Intolerance Test in Dubai?
Dubai is home to a diverse population with various dietary habits. Many people enjoy international cuisines, but they may not be aware that certain foods could be affecting their health. Here’s why you should consider getting a food intolerance test with Dr. Mahesh Katre:
1. Identify Problematic Foods
A food intolerance test can help determine which foods are causing your symptoms. By avoiding these foods, you can improve your digestion, skin health, energy levels, and overall well-being.
2. Personalized Diet Plan
Once you know which foods to avoid, you can create a customized diet plan that supports your health. Dr. Mahesh Katre provides expert guidance to help you make healthy food choices.
3. Improve Digestion and Gut Health
Digestive issues are one of the most common signs of food intolerance. Eliminating trigger foods can help restore gut balance, reduce bloating, and improve nutrient absorption.
4. Enhance Energy Levels
Many people feel constantly tired without knowing the reason. Food intolerance can cause fatigue and sluggishness. Removing problematic foods from your diet can boost your energy and help you feel more active.
5. Reduce Skin Problems
Food intolerance can cause skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and rashes. Identifying and eliminating the trigger foods can lead to clearer and healthier skin.
6. Prevent Long-Term Health Issues
Ignoring food intolerance can lead to chronic inflammation, which may increase the risk of conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), migraines, and even autoimmune diseases. Early detection and dietary changes can prevent these issues.
7. Easy and Non-Invasive Testing
Food intolerance tests are simple and non-invasive. They usually involve a blood test, a skin prick test, or a breath test. Dr. Mahesh Katre offers advanced testing methods to ensure accurate results.
How Does a Food Intolerance Test Work?
The testing process is quick and straightforward. Here’s what to expect:
Consultation: Discuss your symptoms and dietary habits with Dr. Mahesh Katre.
Testing: A small blood sample or another diagnostic method is used to identify intolerances.
Analysis: The sample is tested for reactions to different foods.
Results: You receive a detailed report on the foods you should avoid.
Diet Plan: Get professional advice on managing your diet and improving your health.
Who Should Take a Food Intolerance Test?
If you experience any of the following, you may benefit from a food intolerance test:
Frequent bloating, gas, or digestive issues
Unexplained fatigue or low energy
Skin conditions like acne or eczema
Recurring headaches or migraines
Joint pain or muscle discomfort
Difficulty losing weight despite a healthy diet
Mood swings or anxiety
Tips for Managing Food Intolerance
If your test results show food intolerance, here are some tips to help manage your diet:
Read Food Labels: Check ingredients for hidden intolerant foods.
Keep a Food Diary: Track what you eat and how you feel to identify patterns.
Find Alternatives: Look for healthy substitutes for problem foods (e.g., lactose-free milk, gluten-free bread).
Plan Meals: Prepare meals in advance to avoid accidental exposure to trigger foods.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to support digestion and overall health.
Conclusion
Food intolerance can negatively impact your health, making you feel tired, bloated, and uncomfortable. By taking a food intolerance test in Dubai with Dr. Mahesh Katre, you can identify the foods that are causing issues and make positive changes to your diet.
Understanding your body’s needs can help you feel better, look healthier, and live a more energetic life. If you suspect that food intolerance is affecting your health, don’t wait—schedule a test today and take the first step toward a healthier you.

How an Osteopathic Doctor in Irvine Can Help Improve Your Health Naturally
Introduction
In the world of modern medicine, many individuals are turning to holistic and integrative approaches to achieve better health. Osteopathic medicine is one such field that focuses on treating the whole body rather than just symptoms. If you are looking for a non-invasive, natural approach to healthcare, an osteopathic doctor in Irvine may be the right choice for you.
At Restoration HealthCare, we believe that healing begins by addressing the root cause of health issues. Our osteopathic doctors combine conventional medical treatments with hands-on techniques to promote overall well-being. Read on to learn how osteopathic medicine can help you achieve optimal health naturally.
What Does an Osteopathic Doctor Do?
Osteopathic doctors (DOs) are fully licensed physicians who receive specialized training in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). This hands-on approach helps restore balance to the body’s structure and function. By focusing on the musculoskeletal system, DOs can improve circulation, relieve tension, and enhance the body’s natural healing ability.
Key Principles of Osteopathic Medicine:
The Body Functions as a Whole – The mind, body, and spirit are interconnected.
Structure Influences Function – Misalignments in the body can affect overall health.
Self-Healing Mechanisms Exist – The body has an innate ability to heal itself when properly supported.
Prevention is Key – Osteopathic medicine focuses on preventing illness through lifestyle adjustments.
Benefits of Seeing an Osteopathic Doctor in Irvine
Osteopathic medicine offers a range of benefits, making it an excellent option for those seeking a natural and personalized healthcare approach.
1. Drug-Free Pain Relief
Many people suffer from chronic pain, whether it’s in their back, neck, or joints. Instead of relying on medication, DOs use OMT techniques to alleviate pain naturally.
2. Improved Mobility and Posture
Posture plays a vital role in overall health. Poor posture can lead to chronic pain, headaches, and digestive issues. Osteopathic doctors help correct posture-related problems and improve mobility.
3. Support for Stress and Anxiety
Osteopathic treatment can help regulate the nervous system, leading to reduced stress and anxiety levels. Hands-on techniques encourage relaxation and improve overall well-being.
4. Boosting Circulation and Lymphatic Drainage
Osteopathic manipulative techniques enhance circulation, ensuring that oxygen and nutrients reach all parts of the body efficiently. This can improve immune function and promote faster healing.
5. A Holistic Approach to Healthcare
Unlike traditional medicine, which often focuses on treating symptoms, osteopathic medicine looks at the entire body. DOs consider factors such as diet, lifestyle, and emotional health when developing treatment plans.
Common Conditions Treated by Osteopathic Doctors
An osteopathic doctor in Irvine can help with a variety of conditions, including:
Chronic pain (back pain, neck pain, and joint pain)
Migraines and tension headaches
Sports injuries and muscle strains
Digestive disorders such as IBS
Sleep disturbances and fatigue
Respiratory conditions such as asthma
Stress-related conditions
What to Expect During Your Osteopathic Appointment
1. Initial Consultation

Food Allergies vs. Food Sensitivities: What's the Difference?
Food allergies can seem brutal. They can also be quite dangerous, causing issues like skin reactions and anaphylactic shock, where your tongue and throat swell, making a trip to the emergency room necessary. (1) Most people experience food allergies soon after consuming a specific food, like nuts or seafood. Still, food sensitivities can be mistaken for allergies and if not treated, won’t go away. Fortunately, there are some treatments and steps you can take today to understand the difference and how to test for various food sensitivities that remove the guesswork.
Food allergies
Your immune system’s job is to fight off foreign invaders that could be dangerous. Sometimes your body can get confused, and your immune system tries to protect you from something that may not be harmful, like specific foods. When you consume these items, you may get hives, difficulty breathing, airway swelling, and low blood pressure. (2) For anyone who has had this experience, it can be a frightening event. When your body releases histamine, it causes inflammation, and you can end up with a life-threatening reaction.
Common foods that cause allergies
Some typical foods cause more issues than others regarding allergies. There could be more, but we will round up the top foods that have the most historic problems for people who suffer from food allergies. (3)
Eggs
Milk
Fish
Nuts
Shellfish
Peanuts
Wheat Soy
Now, you may be thinking this doesn’t look like an issue because you don’t consume these foods. You may not realize how many of these are labeled as ingredients in condiments or other pre-packaged foods. Many marinating sauces and dressings contain soy, so if you feel a little off after eating a steak or salad, that could be why. It’s important to read labels carefully when shopping.
Food sensitivities
Food sensitivity is a digestive response rather than an immune reaction. That’s why you may not feel well after consuming dairy or gluten. You may experience issues like, bloating, cramping, fatigue, headaches, sinus issues, and joint pain. (4)
Food sensitivities can be hard to diagnose because they may mimic other issues and get grouped in with those. Some doctors hear complaints regarding digestive problems and tell the patients they have general IBS and write a prescription for the latest pharmaceutical. If this helps, and often it doesn’t, it merely covers up the symptoms and does nothing to find the root cause of the issue.
Causes for food sensitivities
If you think you have food sensitivity, it’s crucial to understand what causes it to fix the problem. The general thought is that people who experience these sensitivities don’t make enough digestive enzymes to break down a specific ingredient. (5) There are also gastrointestinal issues that make people more prone to food intolerances, like celiac disease.
When you have food sensitivity, your body is reacting to that food and can’t absorb the nutrients or has a negative reaction to them. Unlike food allergies, many people experience sensitivities to foods they’ve eaten in the past. These can even be healthy foods, like strawberries or broccoli.
How to identify trigger foods
Now that you understand the difference between a food allergy and sensitivity, you need to know how to spot the foods causing you issues. If you think you are having intolerances but can’t pinpoint which foods, it can cause a ton of frustration. You want to properly uncover the food culprit so you can rotate them or eliminate them from your diet for a while.
One of the ways you can do this is to try an elimination diet. That means removing one food at a time to see how your body feels. You could start with dairy and not consume it for one to two weeks, and see if your symptoms go away. Then remove gluten, and so on after that. Once you feel better, you can add them back one at a time until you uncover the trigger foods that cause the problem.
Easy way to pinpoint food sensitivities
Rather than taking weeks to months to figure out why you feel so bad when you eat, there is a simple and effective way to know which foods you need to remove. A food sensitivities test is quick and easy. A simple finger stick that you can perform in the comfort of your home measures 96 food antigens. You’ll also get a detailed report to help you improve your diet and remove the irritants causing you to feel bad. A phone consultation is included to help you understand the report and learn how you can navigate these issues to feel like yourself again.
The usual suspects
There are some foods that many people should avoid for better overall health. Some so-called foods today are packed with chemicals and unhealthy ingredients.
Gluten: Gluten can trigger an autoimmune response called celiac disease, which can cause damage to your small intestine. (6)
Sugar: Sugar can cause multiple issues, including digestive problems and inflammation.
Dairy: Dairy causes bloating and cramps for many people.
Processed foods: Processed foods are unhealthy for everyone and we should remove them from our diets as much as possible.
Feeling better soon
Since food sensitivities can be experienced soon after eating, you can also feel better when you know what foods to remove from your diet. A quick test can reveal what you should avoid. The interesting fact about sensitivity is that you may not need to eliminate the food forever. Some people can add foods they enjoy back into their diets once they feel better.
You also want to improve your overall diet with nutrient-dense foods that aren’t on your food sensitivities report. Consuming foods like bone broth, coconut oil, and fermented foods can improve your gut health, helping with sensitivities.

Potential Side Effects of Peppermint Tea Peppermint tea is a popular beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It has a refreshing and invigorating flavor that many people enjoy. However, like any other herbal tea, it has potential side effects that should be considered before drinking it. One of the most common side effects of peppermint tea is digestive upset. It contains compounds called menthol and menthone which can irritate the stomach lining and cause cramping, bloating, nausea, and other digestive issues. If you are prone to digestive issues, it is best to avoid peppermint tea altogether or drink it in moderation. Drinking too much peppermint tea can also lead to headaches or dizziness due to its caffeine content. While the caffeine content in peppermint tea is generally lower than coffee or black teas, some people may be sensitive to even small amounts of caffeine and should be mindful of their intake. Another potential side effect of drinking peppermint tea is an allergic reaction. Those who are allergic to menthol may develop a rash, hives, itching, or swelling after consuming this beverage. If you experience any of these symptoms after drinking peppermint tea then it’s best to stop drinking it immediately and consult a doctor if necessary. Finally, peppermint tea can interact with certain medications such as antacids or heartburn medicine so it’s important to speak with your doctor before adding this beverage into your diet if you are taking any medications. Overall, while peppermint tea can be enjoyed by most people without issue, those who are prone to allergies or digestive issues should take caution when consuming this beverage and talk with their doctor about potential side effects before drinking it regularly. Types of Laxatives Laxatives are medications that are used to relieve constipation by stimulating bowel movements. There are several types of laxatives available, each with different mechanisms of action and side effects. Bulk-forming laxatives are the most commonly used type and work by increasing the volume of stool, making it easier to pass. These laxatives come in powder or pill form and include psyllium husk, methylcellulose, polycarbophil, and calcium polycarbophil. Stool softeners, such as docusate sodium or calcium, work by drawing water into the stool, which helps soften it and makes it easier to pass. Stool softeners can take up to three days to take effect and should not be used for more than one week without consulting a doctor. Osmotic laxatives work by drawing water into the bowels and making them less concentrated. Examples include lactulose and sorbitol. Osmotic laxatives generally produce results within one day but should not be taken for more than one week without consulting a doctor. Stimulant laxatives act directly on the intestines to cause contractions that move stool through the digestive tract more quickly. Examples include senna, bisacodyl, castor oil, aloe vera juice, cascara sagrada bark extract, rhubarb root extract, and magnesium citrate. Stimulant laxatives can cause cramping or abdominal pain if taken in large amounts or for more than one week without consulting a doctor. Lubricant laxatives coat the stool with oil so it passes more easily through the digestive tract. Mineral oil is an example of a lubricant laxative that is available over-the-counter; however, mineral oil can cause serious side effects if not used properly or if taken for too long without consulting a doctor. No matter which type of laxative is chosen for constipation relief, it is important to consult with a doctor before taking any medication for more than one week as they can lead to dehydration or electrolyte imbalances if overused. How Does a Laxative Work? Laxatives are medications used to ease constipation and promote bowel movements. They work by either increasing the amount of water in the intestines or by stimulating the muscles of the intestines to contract more often. Depending
on the type of laxative, they can take anywhere from minutes to hours to take effect and can last from a few hours to several days. Bulk-forming laxatives are some of the most commonly used laxatives, and they work by swelling in size when they come into contact with liquid, which helps to add bulk to stools and makes them easier for the body to pass. Examples of bulk-forming laxatives include psyllium husk, methylcellulose, bran, and polycarbophil. These types of laxatives generally take between 12-24 hours for them to take effect. Stimulant laxatives are another common type of laxative that works by stimulating nerves in the digestive system which then causes muscles in the intestine walls to contract more quickly. This helps move stools through more quickly and can help relieve constipation. Examples of stimulant laxatives include senna, castor oil, bisacodyl, and diphenylmethane derivatives (Danthron). Effects can start within 6-12 hours after taking this type of laxative but may last up to 72 hours. Osmotic laxatives work by drawing water into the intestines which then helps soften stools making them easier for the body to pass. These types of laxatives tend to work faster than other types with effects usually starting within 30 minutes after taking them but may last up to 48 hours. Examples of osmotic laxatives include lactulose, sorbitol, magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia), polyethylene glycol (MiraLAX), sodium phosphate salts (Fleet phospho soda), and glycerin suppositories. It is important to note that overuse or misuse of any type of laxative can lead to diarrhea, electrolyte disturbances, dehydration, abdominal cramps or pain and even colon damage if used over an extended period of time without medical supervision or approval from your doctor. Is Peppermint Tea a Natural Laxative? Peppermint tea is an herbal beverage that is widely believed to have many health benefits. One of the most common uses for peppermint tea is as a natural laxative. Many people drink it to help relieve constipation and promote regularity in their digestive systems. The primary active ingredient in peppermint tea is menthol, which has been used for centuries around the world to treat digestive issues such as gas, bloating, and indigestion. It has also been used to help relax smooth muscles in the body, which can help ease constipation and stimulate bowel movements. Studies have shown that drinking peppermint tea can be effective in relieving constipation. One study found that people who drank peppermint tea on a daily basis experienced significantly fewer episodes of constipation than those who didn't drink it regularly. The study also found that drinking peppermint tea could reduce the amount of time it took for food to move through the digestive system, which could help reduce episodes of constipation. However, it's important to note that peppermint tea should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment or advice from your doctor or healthcare provider. If you are experiencing chronic or severe constipation, it's best to talk with your doctor about other treatments or medications that may be more effective for your condition. Overall, peppermint tea can be an effective way to help relieve occasional constipation and promote regularity in your digestive system. It's safe for most people to drink on a daily basis and can be a great addition to your daily health routine. How Much Peppermint Tea Should I Drink to Have a Laxative Effect? Peppermint tea is a popular herbal tea that is known for its soothing and calming effects. It also has laxative properties, which can be helpful if you are dealing with constipation. However, it is important to know how much peppermint tea you should drink to have a laxative effect. The amount of peppermint tea you need to drink for a laxative effect will depend on your age, weight, and overall health. In general, an adult should drink two to three cups of peppermint tea per day in order to achieve a laxative effect.
However, if you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions such as kidney disease or liver disease, it is best to consult with your doctor before drinking peppermint tea for its laxative effects. It is also important to note that the amount of peppermint tea needed for a laxative effect may vary from person to person. For example, some people may find that they need more than three cups of peppermint tea per day in order to achieve the desired results. On the other hand, some people may only need one cup per day in order to achieve the desired results. In addition, it is important to remember that drinking too much peppermint tea can cause negative side effects such as nausea, cramping, and bloating. Therefore, it is important to consult with your doctor before increasing the amount of peppermint tea you are drinking in order to avoid any possible complications or negative side effects. If you are looking for a natural way to treat constipation, then drinking two or three cups of peppermint tea per day may be beneficial for relieving your symptoms. However, it is always best practice to consult with your doctor before making any changes in your diet or lifestyle in order to ensure that you are taking all necessary precautions when using natural remedies such as peppermint tea for its laxative properties. Conclusion Peppermint tea is a popular herbal beverage that can be enjoyed for its flavor, health benefits, and potential as a gentle laxative. While there is limited research on its ability to treat constipation, many people believe that it can help to relieve the symptoms of digestive distress. To get the most out of the laxative effects of peppermint tea, it is best to drink it regularly and in combination with other lifestyle changes such as increasing fiber intake and drinking plenty of water. It is also important to consult your doctor if you are experiencing chronic constipation or any other digestive issues in order to rule out any underlying health conditions. In conclusion, peppermint tea may be beneficial as a natural laxative and should be considered as an option for treating mild constipation. However, it should not be used as a replacement for a doctor-recommended treatment plan and should only be enjoyed in moderation.

My doctor mentioned a possible diabetes drug we could add if my current sitch stops working and man am I glad I got a chance to look that up before it was offered directly as an option. There's a whole subreddit devoted to using this diabetes medication for weight loss, and it is filled to the brim with people talking about how happy they are that they're losing weight, their appetite is much lower, and does anyone have any tips on dealing with the diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headaches, swelling, rash, inability to regulate body temperature.... as my partner said, the problem is the solution. The side effects are what is causing the weight loss. People lose weight on this drug because it makes them violently ill.
Being an extremely sexy human with IBS, I do not need any help having intense gastrointestinal distress at regular intervals, so I am glad I got to find out about this to make sure the answer to the future offer is a hard no

I am madlad, I did it. I actually did it! My (second, actually) trainersona based on a fan game! I though about introducing them to you(as promised), so here they are ^^
Name: Their name is Wren, it means "bird"! Or "a small bird", I am not quite sure, different sites gave me, of course, different information. Also, I am a sucker for names with the meaning, I absolutely love them
Age: They are only 18, but they'll soon turn 19. Fun fact, they've never drank or smoked, despite their maturity. In that house they respect healthy lifestyle.
Home region: Tandor, of course! A unique region with unique Pokémons, unique Leaders and, most importantly, with three Nuclear Plants (well, actually, two? One of them suffered a literal nuclear meltdown.. Okay, I'll stop-).
Personality: They are not a very social person, so getting used to new people for them is quite difficult. Being not used to hustle and bustle also is not a pleasant bonus - time to time headaches caused by either noise, either crowds make their head slowly descend into madness, even though they are not that painful, just extremely annoying. And then, when they got used to everything (and new people), they become the "I am currently running on 6 hours of sleep, suicidal thoughts and an oreo, and I am ready to fight god or become him!!" vine. However, you can predict their actions, they are not that chaotic and won't try to figure out how much berries or golf balls could fit in their mouth or could they drink a gallon of chocolate milk without taking any breath. Simply, at first, they are shy, reserved, closed like a clam, and when they warm up, they become very active and quite chaotic.
Pokémon:
Nuclear Gyarados named Leviathan. The most protective (and feral, despite cleansing) Pokémon of Wren. Despite his definitely not welcoming appearance, he acts like a loyal Stoutland to his trainer, ready to fight at her side. Although, he can act a little bit more stubborn when he is in particularly evil, sad or bored mood. Often used for traveling on water.
Gellin named Amor. The goofy happy buzzing thing that often follows them around, mainly at home. It happily troats over to them, nuzzling their cheeks, making bubbly noises, despite not having any sights of mouth (and despite being not that intelligent or empathetic). This Amoeba Pokémon clings to their back like a backpack, and that's partly the reason of their straight spine - this squishy guy weights almost 38.3 kg/84.4 Ibs.
Dramsama named Majesty. Verrry spoiled Pokémon, she was surrounded with affection and toys since Wren caught her and since she was a Masking. That made her personality a little bit bratty, mischievous (a bit malevolent, I might even say) with one soft spot for her human. She is also capable of being quite violent and jealous, when someone is trying to do something with her fluff/feathers, or her Trainer. To sum up - Bratty Pokémon with a soft spot that won't hesitate before flinging her opponents into the ground with a lot of vigor. When Majesty feels especially good, she tries to decorate Wren's hair with her feathers that had fallen out of her tail.
Duplicat named Omelpha (Omega + Alpha). Like a Ditto, but more cat-like. Copycat Pokémon can be often seen scuttling around the house, trying to kick things off the tables, screaming like they are being mauled, only to get pats on the head and a lot of berries in their bowl. This mon is one of the two on Wren's team that can disguise themselves as other Pokémon - Although, Omelpha does that more willingly than Majesty. And eagerly. Their favourite disguise is an Eevee or any eeveelution. But mostly they'll disguise themselves as a little cute Eevee that likes to playfully pounce on people and that purrs like a diesel engine.
Astronite named Drop. Overly curious Pokémon that tries to touch everything it wants and anyone who awoke interest in them. They once almost broke out of their Pokéball when they sensed some "strange aroma", which turned out to be Vespiquen's honey. After that Wren were running towards the streets faster than a Zebstrika that was struck by lightning. Astronite also can get fairy distracted from the battle when they see something exciting: most of the time those "exciting" things are Pokémons, gimmicks (Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves or Dyna/Gigantamax), rarely people. And if it is a human person, then they'll have a 1.7 meters tall Pokémon making cooing noises over them.
Chainite named Substitute. Wren received them through trading, that one trainer, gifted them this Pokémon with the stating that he is simply unable to take care of them because of personal problems. Substitute, at first, refused to come out of their Pokéball since they were not that trusting to any trainers. And Wren, of course. When they came out of their Pokéball, it took quite a lot of time for them to warm up to the new owner and stop biting them. And stop trying to tear every given toy. Substitute, however, still has those remnants of that behaviour, but they are slowly fading away as Chainite practically melts under Wren's touch.
Story/Bio: Wren were born in Vinovile town, always been surrounded by love and any kinds of affection. And then, Vinovile was covered in radiation that took a form of a thick green cloud with metal tasting. They, among other people, were evacuated by TRU, and now they were waiting in Legen town, alone. It was not hard, it was harder. They got separated from their parents in evacuation and they weren't able to find them for some days, or even week, they don't actually remember. But! They've found them! Yes, the family has reunited, but it wasn't clear when they'll be able to return to their home. And then, they asked their parents for a permission to travel to other regions, since they, despite loving their home, wanted to see other places. Aaaand, basically, that's how they ended up in Unova for now!
Facts: -They have a lot of tattoos of Legendary Pokémon of their region on the body. Aotius on the right leg, Mutios on the left one, Baitatao on the neck, Leviathao on the back, Krakanao on the lower back and, their personal favourite, Lanthan and Actan fighting on the chest. They are definitely not afraid of needles. -Piercings! Septum one and tongue one. That's all. Were on edge to do a nipple one, but the common sense took action and stopped them from doing that. -Once tried to evolve Corsola into Corsoreef while they were in Alola. Someone caught it on camera and now there are several meme videos where Wren violently shakes a toy in the Corsola's face. They ended up taking Pokémon with them, though. -They once were so nervous, that they punched someone in the gut at some point. That someone was Grimsley.. Still in Alola. However, they couldn't see his face since they ran off as fast as they can. -Not used to people seeing their tattoos, hence why they wear closed clothes. Like, they even can wear a mantle. In fact, they almost always wear a black mantle decorated with a radiation symbol on its back. -Can't properly pronounce "f", it comes out as "ph". Imagine their rage at any word with an "f" in it. -They often write random poems inspired by random things they've saw. However, they are way to shy to show them to anyone.
That's.. Probably all, at least for now. Their art is not ready yet, but I'll show it to you when it'll be ready! For now, I'll go. Have a nice day/evening!
-Dearly your reader, Victusordovitreus.

53 for all 3?
53. What is the health of your OC?
This was fun to think about :)
Cortex: Nothing serious, but he does suffer from frequent headaches for one reason or another. Usually tension from his poor neck desperately trying to support that head. Despire his skin color his liver stats are normal; he knows because he checks them every couple of months. Surprisingly good cardio; he may be a gremlin and he won't out-speed anyone with those short legs, but he's got insane stamina.
He does have a few food intolerances that he can't be bothered to remember or manage properly, so there's the occasional IBS. He has a high metabolism and bounces back quickly from wounds and ailments. Gets drunk just by looking at alcohol xD
Tropy: All N. Tropies have notoriously bad stamina, even before wearing a 40 pound suit of armor. He also has, predictably, virtually no periphery circulation anymore, hence the blue skin. Extended use of the tuning fork over the years has caused nerve damage to his remaining hand. (I like to imagine Lady N. Tropy actually lost both her hands this way, by deciding to just chop them off and replace them with mechanical ones that can't be affected, which is why she's much more lethal with her weapon now and doesn't need to hold back). His glove cushions the vibrations a bit, but he can't use his remaining hand for precision work for hours after a fight. Rarely gets sick, but when he eventually does he takes forever to recover as his body is almost incapable of generating a proper fever.
Gets mild hay-fever during the summers, mostly from grass pollen.
Neofarious: This boi is surprisingly sturdy. Like. UNREASONABLY sturdy for someone of his build. As a fusion he is greater than the sum of his parts and it shows. He doesn't even realize it, but this guy could tip a mid-size car. He can also survive (and land on his feet unscathed) from drops that would certainly shatter a regular human's bones. It's how he gets down from his (suspended 10m up) hammock. It's not in his nature to use these abilities offensively, but it does mean he's too tanky to die from most blunt force trauma. I suppose it balances well with his general clumsiness.
I also imagine his immune system is too weird and alien to really be affected by human diseases, so that's a plus.
#neofarious#cortex#neo cortex#n. tropy#nefarious tropy#ask#oc#Nf is physically indestructable and without their indivisual weaknessess#but he does have to contend with their voices in his head#I think he'd prefer being able to break a bone over this anyday#also Hand-Arm-Vibration-Syndrome is no joke#everytime I've used a tool that does that to my hands I worry the shaking won't go away

How good friends are hird and samiel? Are they closer than hird and lane?
Hi Anon,
I love this question, thank you! (And fair warning: it gives me so much of an excuse to talk about Samiel and Hird!)
So the very short answer is: yes. Ultimately, Hird and Samiel end up closer than Hird and Lane.
The much longer answer is: their friendship is much, much slower to develop. Hird and Jay like each other fine - they grow into close friends and trust one another (I think it's being chucked into the situation in Icarus, Burning that sort of bonds them together).
Samiel and Hird on the other hand, sort of come to a grudging mutual respect by the end of IB. They collaborate to fix Jay's mess, and they're both on the same wavelength when it comes to being seriously annoyed with his actions. It forms a mutual sort of camaraderie, that neither of them thinks is going to go anywhere, because they come from very different backgrounds, and neither of them is particularly willing to forgive and forget the respective grudges both of them have on a personal and a political level.
Then, Samiel heads off to join up as a Keryx with the Medusae, and sometime later Hird does too. Archon Ssafyr (being the sneaky smart cookie that she is), takes one look at the pair of them, and realises there's actually far greater benefit in pairing the two of them up for missions. They're going to learn far more about each other's thinking and culture than the Medusae could get from them by separating them.
What happens next is, I suspect, a series of missions that don't exactly go well, but aren't a disaster either. At some point Hird - much to her utter horror - realises that she has far more in common with Samiel than she'd realised. Worse, she finds she actually likes him as a person. They have similar outlooks; they tend to react to things in the same way, and I think their respective problem solving skills compliment each other. Hird also, I think, discovers her furiously protective streak is somewhat triggered when it comes to Samiel (in a way it isn't so much with Jay).
Samiel has a similar experience, I think. And around the same time, they both come to the mutual agreement that they're not going to admit they're actually friends, but quite frankly they'd take a bullet for one another (and then complain about it after).
In the long run, I think they also discover that unlike their respective better halves, they sometimes can't sit still and enjoy the politicking, or the peace and quiet. I think occasionally (once they're no longer formally working with the Medusae), they go off careening around the galaxy, creating trouble. (Jay lets them, because he's not going to deal with the headache of the pair of them causing havoc on Elysium, and Venndred just thinks it's good for Hird to get out of the house and do things, bless him.)
In short: yes, I think they become a disaster duo of a bromance, and both of them are genuinely appalled by it. XD
