content status update!
Content warning: discussions of menstruation.
TLDR: New CG Wesker works incoming, Eddie Gluskin headcanons in development, and there will be a second post shortly after this one featuring a full list of characters I'll write for, and guidelines for making requests!
All right, now that I've actually started working on some things, I wanna put out a status update! As of 09/12/23, I'm working on:
Caregiver Wesker Content:
Due to some personal circumstances, I'm writing some ...shark week/crimson tide/what-have-you CG Wesker headcanons. They're going to be gender neutral so everyone can relate, as usual. I know it's not the most usual thing to write about (especially in age-re), but I think it could be helpful to regressors who experience this whole thing. This is a super niche self-indulgent one but hopefully it can help some others as well!
Additional non-specific headcanons, of course, because they're just so nice and simple for me to put out!
Perhaps an actual full-length work? And by that I just mean something that's formatted like a story. It might not be a super long work, but it'll be something. I'm also debating whether or not it will be a reader-insert or an OC insert. That's super up in the air right now, because I have had a dire need to write Wesker/OC age-re content, but I don't want to alienate people. I might just do both, who knows. Ahem, this is what polls are for, Dongo.
Caregiver Eddie Gluskin Content:
Well, I've opened a document for Eddie Gluskin content, so I guess that makes it official. Just to ease into things, he's just gonna get a simple batch of general headcanons. I am soooo unbelievably excited to start working on CG content for him... he is SUCH a huge comfort for me (and many others I'm sure!).
That's all I've got for this one. Shortly following this, there will be a full character list, and some request-making guidelines!
Thank you so very much for reading!

I just started Hyrule Warriors (the og) for the first time!!! I got the game secondhand and dusted off Ol' Reliable (WiiU) so I can finally see what the fuss is all about. I know it's a Fighting Game about an interdimensional war and watched like one video of gameplay maybe five years ago? But that's all I know going in.
(I also played a little bit of Age of Calamity on my brother's switch back when it came out, but I never could understand what the hell was happening on the screen at any given moment, so this is fairly fresh of an experience for me.)
Some thoughts!:
The game's art style, fighting gimmick, and cutscenes reminds me a LOT of Super Smash Bros for the Wii, specifically story mode
Link is indeed just as Sexy as everyone makes him out to be. His voice is nice to listen to and the Blue Scarf is quite fetching
Shiek is SO FUN TO PLAY AS and I love being in the Know about their identity because Impa keeps going "I sure do hope Zelda is okay :(((" and I'm giving Shiek the eyeballs 👁👁 like "when are you going to tell her"
I only know the barest barest bare minimum about Lana and Cia going in but I am liking Cia as a villain so far, the reality breaking is awesome and also her bird mask is cool as hell
A lot of people consider this the non-canon explanation for the converging of the timelines, and although I'm not really on board with the Timeline Convergence theory, I DO See The Appeal of this explanation because the cutscene where all the different worlds started to collide and Skyloft was on the same map as Twilight Princess's Bridge of Eldin,,, my inner nerd is screaming
The game unloaded a LOT of mechanics on me all at once, which was a little overwhelming, but I think I'm getting the hang of it just by way of spamming the hell out of my attack button and hoping for the best. I'm starting to learn which button patterns make for my favorite attacks and how the item switching and special attacks help in certain areas. I also read through the tutorials like 5 times each. Despite how much STUFF is going on at any given moment, Im getting the hang of it surprisingly quickly.
It's somewhat difficult to keep track of what the other warriors are saying in the corner of the screen while I'm trying to focus on killing enemies, but I really like how they keep you updated on what's going on all over the battlefield, so that you can react and strategize accordingly. Speaking of the battlefield, I'm SO BAD AT NAVIGATING THE MINIMAP
It didn't take me long to catch on about how to reclaim bases and outposts, and I find a lot of satisfaction in taking back land, especially with the variety of monsters we get from across the other games. Bosses will have the same weaknesses from their og games, and I'm having a blast trying to remember how I killed Dodongo or Gohma in Ocarina of Time so that I can kill them in this game too. It's so rewarding when I get it right!
I've just completed the Valley of Seers, and I'm gonna pick it up again tomorrow maybe! I'm actually really surprised with how much fun I'm having so far, since I'm not usually all that big on Fighting Games, but it definitely helps that it's Zelda specifically 😂

are wizzrobes relevant (and by relevant I really just mean existing) in you au at all ? I've been scrolling through it for a while and I think it's super neat !! and I'm realizing I don't think I've ever seen you mention wizzrobes so I'm curious :00
Ty and they are! I haven’t updated my monster refs in so long 😭
They’ll have a more humanoid insect type of appearance and are going to be closely related to the Gibdos in a way
Wizzrobes only appear in their designated elemental region, they have a commensial relationship with Dodongo Taluses as they get their energy (element powers) from them by hiding in their scales, fur absorbing energy from the Talus. It doesn’t really harm the Dodongo as they lay dormant for centuries

Mini Boss 3 - Firespawn King Dodongo Is Out!
New Mark of a Hero chapter out on AO3 & Wattpad!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Mark of a Hero (Updates on Tuesdays & Fridays, 1 of 9)
Hyrule is at peace, or so the Royal Family would have its people believe. Something is afoot in the kingdom, and someone needs to do something about it. Least likely would be Marksmen Link Sayre- a mercenary and monster hunter doing his best to get by. Until a job goes wrong, and he gets roped into the secret plans of Hyrule's princess. Now Link must play the part of the Hero to dive deeper into the mystery, and maybe stumble into a legend of his own.

Legend of Zelda Theme Park - Death Mountain (UPDATED)
Tumblr media
Death Mountain is to the north of Castle Town (just as it is usually in the north on the game map). The whole area is sculpted as a reddish-brown canyon landscape, with walkways gently sloping upward toward the artificial volcano which dominates the scene, “erupting” every half hour with a display of pyrotechnics and smoke effects. The volcano in turn is the upper portion of a massive show building which occupies roughly half the area’s footprint and houses several of its attractions. Interior spaces are designed as rocky caves lit by torches and glowing crystals. The exterior background music highlights various iterations of Death Mountain and other mountainous areas in the games, as well as music associated with the Gorons. However, the interior queue space for the two big rides has its own music loop, drawing from fire and volcano-themed dungeons.
Tumblr media
Attractions
Spirit Train (Mountain Station)
Crystal Caverns: A very simple attraction, more like a scenic view. The pathways through the Death Mountain area include side branches that veer through short stretches of tunnel lined with multicolored glowing crystals and gemstone veins. (These are marked on the detailed map with squiggly shading.) Make a habit of following these side paths, and you will find one that heads a little deeper into the mountainside, culminating in a spectacular cavern of exotic stone formations and massive crystal clusters that make soft chiming music as their colors shift through the spectrum.
Goro-Gondolas: Not an intense ride, but still exciting on its own terms, the Goro-Gondolas are boats in a flume…but the water is continuously under-lit with warm-toned lights, giving it the appearance of a glowing lava river! The ten to twelve-minute circuit includes lifts and gentle drops, and in the meantime, the boat passes by numerous detailed scenes of Gorons going about their daily lives—mining for choice rocks to eat, tending Bomb Flower gardens, soaking in hot springs, engaging in athletic competitions, rolling from place to place, etc. At other points, similarly lit “leaping” fountains send streams of “lava” arcing over the flume. From time to time, the flume even exits the interior of the mountain, giving riders a view of the area, and at other points, it shares a scene with the Dodongo Dive-Bomb track.
Gut Check Challenge Arena: A play area, but more…advanced than the Picori Picnic Park in the Lost Woods. Named after the Goron-hosted mini-games in Breath of the Wild, this attraction features rock-climbing walls, obstacle courses, and other stamina-testing activities. The especially bold can sign up for the Gut Check Challenge itself, a rock-climbing event held several times a day on the big wall, with real medals awarded to the winners.
Sworn Brothers Meeting Hall: A meet-and-greet location for favorite Goron characters, including Ocarina of Time’s Darunia, Majora’s Mask’s Darmani, and Breath of the Wild’s Daruk and Yunobo.
Dodongo Dive-Bomb: The number just marks the queue entrance–this ride is a big one! Arguably the biggest thrill in the park, it is a mag-launched roller coaster with cars designed to resemble a chain of minecarts. It takes place mostly inside the cinder cone of the volcano, twisting through lava-lit caverns infested with fire-breathing Dodongo lizards, occasionally breaking out into the open before diving right back into the mountain. The climax takes place in a spacious cavern inhabited by a ferocious dragon, and the train makes a loop around its head and neck in order to escape!
Shops
7. From Mine to Yours: A rock and mineral shop offering all sorts of tumbled semiprecious stones, crystals, carved charms and figurines, geodes (with an option to have them cut open on-site), Himalayan salt lamps, stone-based knickknacks, and books about minerals and gems. For those with fancier tastes, there’s even a special sales counter where precious jewelry is available for purchase. In the center of the store is a fountain mimicking a sluice full of gem-bearing slurry, the employees wear overalls and hard hats with mounted headlights, and the shop slogan “Ore and More!” derives from the name of a similar business in Breath of the Wild.
8. Forged in Fire: Being rooted in a medieval(-ish) fantasy franchise is likely to give this theme park some appeal for historical weapons enthusiasts, and this shop is for them, offering a selection of sturdy, functional swords, daggers, axes, and shields, including some replicas of famous designs. (Naturally, various noteworthy swords from the games themselves are among them.) Modern camping/hunting knives are also available, and every purchase of a blade includes a fine hardened leather sheath. However, we can’t have people walking around a theme park with real weapons, so all purchases will be either held at the front of the park for pickup upon exiting, or shipped to the guest for an additional fee. (This is true of any retail location in the park that sells metal weapons, even if they aren’t made to be functional.)
9. Goron Spice Rack: “A spicy nook for spicy cooks” declares the sign out front. Lovers of herbs and seasonings will find much to love in here, with a wide selection of culinary flavorings. Pick a jar or bottle off the shelf or have a mix blended to order! We especially recommend the various types of “Goron Spice” (mostly curry powder and paprika, with assorted variations), made famous by Breath of the Wild.
10. Ripped and Shredded: A shop for sporting goods and memorabilia located next to the Gut Check Challenge Arena. Includes lines of tongue-in-cheek jerseys, caps, and other items referencing peoples, groups, and locations in the LoZ franchise as if they were sports teams. Named after the Goron armor shop in Breath of the Wild.
Eateries
11. Magma Munchies: Adventurous foodies will love this place, where everything on the menu—meat, veggies, fries, and more—is hot and spicy. The intensity ranges widely, from “Hawaiian” (mild curry) all the way up to “Ultra-Plinian” (ghost peppers). Hot sauces are available for purchase at the Goron Spice Rack.
12. Rock Candy Stand: Pretty much exactly what it says: an outdoor kiosk with various colors of traditional rock candy (i.e. sugar crystals on a stick), chocolate “pebbles,” Ring Pops and Pop Rocks, and other mineral-themed sweet treats.
13. Protein Palace: They say the rocky ground of Death Mountain is so hot, you can drop food to cook right on it! That may or may not be true, but this Mongolian BBQ buffet uses a more conventional stainless steel hibachi. Choose a protein (beef, chicken, or tofu) and a selection of vegetables, noodles, sauces, and other ingredients, and your food is cooked up while you watch!

Rough timeline for Link (Time) because I feel like it may be useful. May be changed eventually but for now this is how his age sorta works. I will take questions regarding this but I may not explain coherently because time magic makes thing weird.
Updated 6/17/24 (for reference)
First Adventure starts age 9 (a few months after his birthday)
Takes a month exploring Hyrule before getting to the Castle Town, this includes figuring out best fresh water sources and caves in the Field. Spends two and a half almost three months getting the sacred stones, part of that time was spent with adults trying to keep him from ‘getting hurt’. Most of that was actually in the Zora’s Domain. The Gorons kept him with them for a week to recover from the burns he got in the Dodongo’s Cavern. Another week was spent between the Ranch and Kakariko Village while he tried to figure out what he could and could not do outside the forest.
He spent a month getting used to the new Hyrule in the adult timeline, including freeing the Ranch and getting the Hookshot, before the Forest Temple. He spent about a week and a half after that trying to deal with everything he lost and trying to figure out what he should do next since he felt like he was completely alone then.
The Ice Cavern and Water Temple took three weeks together and most of that time was spent dealing with frostbite and illness after them. He needed another week before he felt able to face anyone else he knew.
The Fire Temple took half a week to get to and cleanse. He spend another half a week checking on the Gorons and making sure that they would be okay, he remembered how much Link of the Gorons cried and was worried. Going back in time to the past and dealing with the Bottom of the Well took two weeks, one to get there and do it then another to calm himself enough to continue. He spent another month and a half visiting the forest and checking on everyone else.
The Shadow Temple took a week to cleanse and then he spent a month trying to help rebuild Kakariko Village enough that the people could survive in it. The Gerudo Fortress took a week to deal with and getting to the Colossus took half a week because of the sand storms. Then he spent half a week taking care of it as a child before three weeks as an adult. The three weeks also included time spent in the Fortress getting to know some more about the Gerudo people because they treated him with respect but not reverence (the other races had gotten bad about that).
He spent two months checking on everyone and trying to help them rebuild some before going to Castle Town and working on clearing things up there. He spent a week trying to cleanse the town before he finally went to the Temple of Time and Zelda got captured. He spent a week going through Ganon’s Tower trying to reach Zelda before he got sent back in time.
Link’s Mental Age: 12 Link’s Physical Age: 9 (Reset to just before he met Zelda the first time)
After warning Zelda about what happened Link spends time going through all of the dungeons he cleansed as a child, including the Spirit Temple and the Bottom of the Well, before he leaves Hyrule. The items he got were left with the Sages before he leaves so Nabooru has the Silver Gauntlets of this timeline and Impa has the Lens of Truth from Hyrule in this timeline. Link is still Darunia's sworn brother and Ruto still insists that they are engaged though Link only asked to borrow the Zora's Sapphire for a little while since he wanted to keep the jewel away from Ganondorf.
Second Adventure
Link’s Physical Age: 10 Link’s Mental Age: 12
Three day cycles, Link tries to rush through, spends the first ten cycles rushing through the temples as much as he can then spends another recovering after getting his ass handed to him by Majora.
Spends the next ten trying to fight Majora regularly but is impatient, and again, gets his ass handed to him. Spends cycles following different people around both inside and outside of Clock Town, uses the Stone Mask for that. (One cycle per 'important’ person.)
Takes three cycles helping out different people in Clock Town trying to figure out who causes what to happen. Then spends three cycles each for the other areas before combining them all in three more cycles.
Is sick for three cycles. Then tries to fight Majora himself for another ten Cycles. Tries different things to try and defeat him but keeps losing and having to reset. Almost wins but can’t kill him because he doesn’t have the right power to do so (the Fierce Deity has the power needed to defeat Majora or Link's sleeping abilities could but they are sleeping). Spends a few cycles (5) trying to get various people to help him but isn’t believed. Spends more cycles trying to get help for himself or for others so everyone is saved, fails and keeps trying in many different ways.
Gets the Fierce Deity mask and starts cycles again, wanting to get to know the new spirit. Spends the next several cycles getting to know the spirits of the masks. Uses the Deity’s mask to defeat Majora.
Link’s Physical Age: 10 Link’s Mental Age: ??? (he is 17 without the other timeline’s memories but isn’t sure because he lost track, with the memories he is 32)
Third Adventure: Hyrule Warriors…
Link’s Physical Age: 11 (turns 11 the day after he leaves Termina) Link’s Mental Age: ??? (32)
Link spends three years and five months in the War of Eras with the other versions of himself (Warrior Link and Wind Link)
Link’s Physical Age: 15 Link’s Mental Age: ??? (36)
Fourth Adventure and on wards (Unknown)
Link’s Physical Age start: 15 Link’s Mental Age start: ??? (36)
Possibly Lorule or some other side world where things are similar and somewhat connected to Hyrule (which is almost at war) and Link goes back and forth between helping the other world (time moves faster for him while he is there but it passes the same when he is in Hyrule) and preparing for the war. His body did not age while he was in the other world but his mind did.
Link's Physical Age end: 17 Link’s Mental Age end: ???? (39)
Link (20/41) spends time helping around Hyrule making allies after fighting the war for a few years. During this time he goes through most of the Temples again and cleanses them from the corrupting influences of Ganondorf's magic.
Link/Time meets the Chain at physical age 32

UPDATE on the longest tag part
I DID GET TO GO TO THAT TRIBUTE THING, we just had to leave it for another whole week due to the rainstorms flooding the hell out of our cities. People treasure their old/vintage cars and value their lives enough to not drive them out in the middle of a fucking storm.
Have some of my favorite pics starting with Heaven Robert, the VW Blue Beetle that belongs to the amazing Sâmela (Sam), who not only set up the whole stuff for the car parade and tribute to Jesse & Shurastey & Dodongo, but also offered me a ride to go along with them when I commented during her livestream about it that I wished to go but couldn't because I don't have a car and I didn't know anyone who was going to let me tag along. We didn't even know each other at all. I had just followed her on Instagram because I saw her post about Jesse & Shurastey. She's an absolute angel and deserves the whole world.
Also Heaven is the cutest Beetle there ever is in this city and I take no criticism. And the Pernambuco flag belongs to my parents, I took it there as a "temporary gift" to identify the State we're from during our tribute. It fit so well with Heaven, I'll be forever in love with this picture.

Can we stop a minute to consider about how Kagome surely got the strongest legs out of everyone in the InuGang
I mean, she rides that bike ACROSS Japan, most of the time through dirt or rocky roads as it's ANCIENT JAPAN, also carrying that monster of a backpack - School books alone are already heavy as fucking Hell, God knows how it took years for me to feel my back normal again after I was done with school, and she carries them + first aid kit + food and snacks for several days + water bottles + whatever other random stuff she feels like bringing with her to Feudal Japan to entertain her friends or to care for herself. She's also carrying Shippou along on her bike most of the time. And InuYasha himself catches rides too. InuYasha might not be fat but he's pure muscle and bigger so THAT'S HEAVY TOO.
I'm perfectly aware we've seen InuYasha run above water, which means he's got damn strong leg muscles to move that fast, but bitch that's his Youkai side giving him above-human strength. Kagome is simply human. And she's riding that bike with all that weight around like a boss.

WIP Wednesday
I wrote this last night and really don’t know where I’m going with it because I wrote another section of this that’s completely different from this first part, but I’m having too much fun so this might become a long oneshot or like a two/three chapter short fic eventually. I signed into my Guild Wars account for the first time in forever to watch the chat and apparently Lion’s Arch isn’t as interesting as it used to be. Not that any of that is really relevant.
This is Zelda and the Champions as internet friends playing a MMORPG video game called Hyrule Warriors.
~
Zelda Harkinian loved Fridays. Not that it was a rare thing to be obsessed with the weekend, but she maybe loved it a little too much. After a week of lesson plans, and cleaning the classrooms, and sneezing students, and emails asking for an extension on a paper that wasn’t even due yet, she relished the escape the weekend provided. Granted, she still had to grade about a hundred tests, but that was a problem for Sunday or even Monday.
Smiling down at her roommate, a kitten she’d raised when she found it in the street all alone, Zelda fed her girl—whom she’d named Duchess because she had every intent of treating her like royalty—and played with her for a bit before throwing down her bag in her room and then grabbed a water and a granola bar before heading to her desk. She flipped her laptop open and booting up Hyrule Warriors, her favorite open world MMORPG.
Her internet sucked, so she grabbed her phone to aimlessly scroll to see if there was any news or updates. But it was pretty dull.
Instead, she thought back to how this whole weekend ritual began.
She’d been in a cavern just off of Death Mountain for about three days killing fire keese, lizalfos, and beamos. As a mage, her AOE skills made short work of the larger groups, hitting them all at once. It was especially useful here because her main specialties were water and light, but she struggled when boss fights came out. The NPCs weren’t great teammates, and she constantly found herself resurrecting far from the boss, only to make a long run with a health penalty that ended with her getting killed again, until her heath penalty was maxed out and she had to restart for any hope of succeeding. As a mage, her light armor made her vulnerable to physical attacks, and this boss was very physical.
Zelda didn’t like interacting with people in this game. It was massively popular, and the chat was always running. Sometimes, she’d just sit at an outpost and watch people talk. Her favorite interactions were often the random ones. She’d begun to look up the acronyms everyone used in chat just to understand them better. WTS= want to sell.
Indigo2421: WTS: Guardian Short Sword 4k rupees
Indigo2421WTS: Guardian Short Sword 4k rupees
Indigo2421WTS: Guardian Short Sword 4k rupees
Britneigh4Horses: WTS My mother. 1 rupee. Will pay postage fee.
But after her days of suffering in the lonely caverns in Death Mountain, she relented.
A quick search had her hands shaking, but she typed quickly so she couldn’t back out after she’d hit enter.
xPrincessZx: LFG Dodongo’s Cavern
Holding her breath, she’d waited in the hopes of a private message being sent to her.
One did.
(PM): ThunderstruckQueen: What missin are doing there?
(PM): ThunderstruckQueen: Mission*
(PM): xPrincessZx: I have to kill the Dodongo boss for the main story
ThunderstruckQueen would like to join your party.
Biting her nails, she’d accepted.
(PM): RockRoast12345: Still need someone?
(PM): xPrincessZx: Yes! That would be great! Thanks!
RockRoast12345 would like to join your party.
That had been how it started: A goron warrior with a Warhammer and some serious defensive moves joined as the tank to take as much damage for the team as he could stand, and a Gerudo Paladin had joined her party. Zelda was jealous of the purchase-only red hairstyle the Gerudo had for her character. She had a sword and shield, but her body flickered with elemental lightening magic. In-game purchase effects.
They’d defeated Dodongo with ease, and had gone on several missions together that day, taking down their storylines with relative ease. But they couldn’t function with the NPC healer who barely functioned at all.
So, ThunderstruckQueen had taken to the map chat and put out a request.
ThunderstruckQueen: I found someone. She’s a Zora Cleric. Level 40
RockRoast12345: Let her in! I want to get this one over with
Rutella Zoran IV would like to join your party.
After that, the four of them realized they worked so well together that they’d formed a guild. The Champions. ThunderstruckQueen paid the guild fee, bought a hall, and began decorating it with merchants, and chests. Zelda still shuddered, wondering what she did to have so many rupees ready to go. Needless to say, she made herself the leader.
Some days, they didn’t play together. Other times, only two of them were on. But on weekends, they all came together.
But it had been a Monday when Zelda played, and she’d been alone. Having already tossed her tissue box across her room in frustration, she debated making a new character with more defense, but she sucked it up and went into the Castle Town map, ready to ask for help. She couldn’t wait until she could get to be a higher level. As it was, she’d only gotten to these level 40 areas as a 32 because of Rutella.
Suddenly, a random Hylian man in green with a fancy sword and shield ran up to her and bowed. Zelda scoffed at her computer screen, unsure if she was supposed to respond.
She didn’t need to.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: Hey Princess
(PM): xPrincessZx: Hello?
(PM): WildKnightOut2: Jst wondering if u have a spare flower crown from yesterday’s festival. Missed it. Will pay
Zelda pulled up her inventory, forgetting she was still wearing her flower crown from the Flower Fest. It must have been what tipped him off. In fact, she had four spares.
(PM): zPrincessZx:  Yeah, I do. Come to the chest and I’ll trade.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: Thx
She’d never done a trade with anyone who wasn’t in her guild, so she’d felt nervous running to grab it.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: How much u want?
(PM): xPrincessZx: Actually, I’ll give it to you free if you’re willing to help me with a quest? Or 10k.
WildKnightOut2 would like to join your party.
She accepted and watched his character appear in the corner of her screen.
WildKnightOut2: That’s a rip off, btw. Crowns are with 15k at least. Don’t undersell
xPrincessZx: Thanks. I didn’t realize. I’m still kind of new.
WildKnightOut2: Howd u get out here then?
xPrincessZx: I had a run from a friend in my guild.
WildKnightOut2: Got room for a warrior in there?
Zelda introduced him to the other Champions when they’d signed back on, and after a few weeks, Zelda had leveled up enough that she didn’t need to constantly rely on a teammate. But still. She liked Wild the best after ThunderstruckQueen.
They’d brought in a Rito Ranger named TheBestYouveNeverMet, which immediately set Wild off.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: should I aggro a group over so he has to fight them for us?
(PM): xPrincessZx: No! Don’t do that! I’ll get sent over to deal with them!
(PM): xPrincessZx: HEY! I SEE YOU ON THE MAP!
(PM): xPrincessZx: WILD GET BACK TO THE GROUP
On the mini-map, she saw a hoard of red coming at them and rolled her eyes before joining TheBest to kill them with area attacks. Rutella stayed back to heal them, but Thunder and Rock both continued on, unfazed.
ThunderstruckQueen: Wild you’re an idiot
But that was then. This was now.
They’d been together for months as a guild, and now, the six of them knew how the others worked.
If Wild or TheBest took off on their own, no one would follow. They’d both been killed numerous times in an attempt to piss the other off. Zelda had learned to stay with Thunder and Rock. Rutella flitted between running back to revive the idiots, or sticking with the smarter members while letting them heal on their own.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: u wound me
Zelda chuckled, but he wasn’t done.
(PM): WildKnightOut2: After all ive done for u
(PM): WildKnightOut2: u leave me to die
(PM): xPrincessZx: Don’t run off next time
It was a Wednesday when she and Wild were playing alone, so they freely used party chat for ease. She’d surpassed his level, and towered as a 93 while he was an 87.
WildKnightOut2: Hang on. Fuzzball wants food
Zelda stared at his character on her screen, wondering if he looked anything like that avatar. Blonde hair, muscular, piercing blue eyes. She’d made her character look like herself, so it wasn’t hard to imagine others had. Plus, he was the only Hylian. She highly doubted that RockRoast12345 was actually a giant rock-man, or that Rutella Zoran IV was a short fish lady.
She knew everything about these people except their names, faces, and voices.
She knew that ThunderstruckQueen was a single mother who called her daughter Ri on chat. She was a chief of police, and had a few hundred of her force to look out for. Still, she wanted to quit soon to join the military reserve forces now that her daughter was getting older. Devoted and loyal, Thunder occasionally snapped when everyone would start fighting with each other, though it was usually directed at TheBest and Wild, the annoyance sometimes extended out to others.
She knew that RockRoast12345 was older than all of them and had a young grandson. He’d bonded with Thunder over their children at first, and then, without meaning to, they became the parents of the group. Recently, Rock had retired from working as a supervisor in a mine, and gaming had become his way of relieving some of that boredom. But he told the best stories when they were idling around, just stories about anything, and they were always captivating. Also, he was afraid of dogs.
She knew that Rutella Zoran IV was the daughter of a politician. She cared for her little brother like he was her own, and sometimes, he took control of her character, proudly revealing that his real name was Sidon. She was in school to be a doctor, and that made her family prouder than anything. She lived and breathed for her family.
TheBestYouveNeverMet was a pilot. His schedule was the most hectic out of everyone’s because of the flights, but he was sarcastic to the core, and sometimes, the sarcasm was simply rude and definitely didn’t translate well over chat. He was superior, and since he’d been playing the game longest, he thought it entitled him to make more decisions. But Zelda knew from her private conversations with him that deep down, he was sweet and caring. He’d always be the first to ask her how her day was, and he’d learned some of her students’ names to ask if they’d been nuisances.
But Zelda spent the most time talking to WildKnightOut2, so she knew the most about him. At first, they’d bonded over the fact that they both had cats. His was called Fuzzball, an orange, fat cat that needed to exercise more. He’d tried to leash him, but Fuzz wasn’t interested. Sometimes, Fuzz would crawl over the keys, send Wild running, and send chat a long stream of letters.
He was funny and made comments in her private chat while they were playing that had her roaring at times.
He was a rock-climbing instructor and in his free time, he was a free solo climber. When she’d looked it up, she’d been horrified to see that he basically climbed mountains without a harness or ropes, and a fall could kill him. She’d asked if he was good at it, or just did it for fun, and his answer had been an ambiguous “yes.”
She knew about his family. He didn’t live near them, but he kept in contact with his grandparents, his father, and his little sister.
WildKnightOut2: k back. Where we going princess?
xPrincessZx: I need to farm for new armor out in the Haunted Wasteland. Do you need to do anything?
WildKnightOut2: I need to help u farm in the haunted wasteland. What do you need?
xPrincessZx: 10 Rubies
WildKnightOut2: damn ok I have 2 u can have so u only need 8
xPrincessZx: Thanks. How’d that party go last night?
WildKnightOut2: Sucked
xPrincessZx: Cool details
WildKnightOut2: If ud been there, ud have hated it
xPrincessZx: Why?
WildKnightOut2: Bunch of self-absorbed idiots. Like TheBest is
xPrincessZx: Lol. He’s not that bad.
WildKnightOut2: if u say so
They headed into the Wasteland looking for red poes that had rare drops for rubies. She and Wild took out a few groups before they started to struggle. Neither could play and talk at the same time fast enough to warn the other that something was happening, and they both ended up at the shrine of resurrection more times than they cared to admit.
xPrincessZx: Hey Wild. This might sound weird, but do you have that gaming app where we could just maybe voice chat?
xPrincessZx: Unless you’re not comfortable with that. We can invite the others, and when we play together, and it would probably make life a thousand times easier
xPrincessZx: But it’s okay if you don’t want to
WildKnightOut2: yeah I have it
Oh, Zelda thought to herself. That was easy.
xPrincessZx: Do you want to add me? I have the same name
She watched her phone like it was food in the microwave, only occasionally glancing at her computer to see if Wild had sent her another message. She drummed her fingers and her leg started to bounce until her screen lit up.
WildKnight has sent you a friend request.
She hastily hit accept and grabbed her headphones from the drawer before typing into her phone.
xPrincessZx: Your name is missing a few things here.
WildKnight: Yeah HW already had someone with this name so I added on
xPrincessZx: The meaning completely changes
WildKnight: which do you like better?
Zelda froze, unable to make her fingers type. Was he flirting? Was that how people flirted online? She was really good at reading body language cues, and that was always how she knew someone was flirting. But this? There was no context! How was she supposed to know?
xPrincessZx: Which fits your personality more?
That was a safe way of getting out of answering while still sounding maybe like she was flirting. Right?
WildKnight: this one
Zelda’s face warmed up and she put her head in her hands, unsure how to respond. How does she respond to that? What if he wasn’t flirting? What if he was.

Y-you make,,First hero content???? Real content about First?? Not Hylia??? First????
K-Kinda?????
I’m honestly pretty shy when it comes to actually... posting anything about first hero. I’m... scared that it wouldn’t be considered valid because tbh I don’t focus on Hylia too much and I don’t ship Hylink?????
But I’ve made a couple posts about him in the past, mostly just headcanons and little doodles. I also wrote some things involving him and Celine a few years back, but I really need to update it soon. I guess I can share a bit more since you’re curious, though!!
Okay so uh... My First Hero is called Forge, because he was the one to reforge the Master Sword. His father was a Knight of Hylia, but he and Forge’s mother passed away shortly after he was born, which is why he now lives with his uncle. My boyfriend Polaris and I headcanoned that Demise was actually birthed from the collective hatred and greed that Hylia’s Chosen People all had in pursuit of the Triforce, and Forge’s father was one of the fatalities in this beginning incident.
So... In the years following the creation of Demise, monsters start appearing in the land of Hylia. Since nobody knows what these creatures are or how to deal with them, knights need to be sent in order to investigate these creatures and chronicle their existence. And since a lot of men died in a fruitless attempt to establish dominance over the other peoples in the country and fight the white goddess for the Triforce, Lord Dagianis needs a lot of new knights and soldiers.
So, a seven year old Forge is sent to Dagianis’s fortress and is enlisted as a page boy, then a squire at fourteen, before finally being knighted at 21/22. Kinda following IRL rules in regards to knighthood, I guess.
Meanwhile, in the midst of learning the way of chivalry as well as how to entertain the court and armory/weapon craftsmanship, he’s running around the land of Hylia with the girl whose house he and his assigned knight are assigned to. He and Celine not only spend time cataloguing the various monsters they encounter, but also meet and befriend the other races of the land by doing favors for them and showing kindness; they most notably befriend the Gorons and the Sheikah, because I seriously feel like both aspects are under appreciated in general.
I actually always had it that Forge was the first dodongo buster. I know that dodongos don’t appear in Skyward Sword, but I like to think pretty much every monster appears as Demise slowly gains powerful and becomes more organized.
Forge has a recurring nightmare that becomes more coherent throughout the years, and it’s only when he’s an adult, around age 27/28 specifically, that he realizes it’s a premonition of his own death and the destruction of the Surface. He goes to Dagianis and his council to inform them of this; however, because of Dagianis’s growing paranoia over the years, he believes Forge is attempting to usurp his position of power and imprisons him for conspiring with the Demon King against him.
Cut to four years later and Forge is a broken, weak, bitter man. Literally the only reason he chooses to save the Hylians is because, rather than fight for them, he actually chooses to fight for his friends outside the city walls, to fight for the land he calls home. I suppose this is what Hylia responded so positively to...
But uh... Yeah, I’ve been meaning to write this story for over two years now, but I... I never got around to it... I really hope you like this, Anon, and I’m happy you asked me about my First Hero!

Chapter 10: Juveniles
The heart of Eldin had four major groups: the Aefros, the Dinolfos, the Lizalfos, and the Dodongos. The first three were a bit more evolved than the latter. They built the grand structures about the mines.
That being said it takes a lot of work and time to build said structures and expand their homes. The adults barely have enough time to watch the hatchlings let alone the juveniles. Once the young are able to act autonomously they are left to their own devices. Which allowed the current events to happen.
A small group of five mismatched misfits found their way into a secluded cavern. Usually there would be two occupants but one had to leave to help with an accident and the other was dozing away. As they neared the sleeping occupant they began to converse in hushed whispers.
"He'sss sso ssmall," cooed the small dinolfos.
"I think it'ss ugly," stated the older aefros.
"D-d-don't be mean, Ranir," the other firery aefros chided.
"I want t-t-to hold him," the middle lizalfos exclaimed. Quietly of course.
Slapping the reaching arm away the fiery aefros chided the younger lizalfos. "Hey! No t-touching, he'ss ssleeping!"
"But, he d-d-does not wake when Aida c-carries him, Fer," the other lizalfos reasoned.
"Oda's right, he d-does not wake when she c-carries him," the younger rebutted.
"Val, you are not Aida. And Aida is careful when she holdss him, Oda." She countered back.
"I think he'ss waking." While the others were bickering the lone dinolfos was watching the sleeping hatchling. It seems that despite their low tones it was still a bit too noisy for the previously lone occupant.
The hatchling was an odd thing. If it weren't for a few things it could easily pass for a Hylian babe. It had a round face, pudgy body, slightly pink skin, and hair. But that's where the similarities end. It also had small horns, scattered scales, wings, and a tail. Oh, and it hatched from an egg. As it opened blearily hazy eyes, one can also notice the slightly slit pupils.
But there is one universal thing that all infants do.
And that's cry.
Loudly.
Especially when nap time is interrupted.
And that was exactly what the hatchling did.
The group of five were now hastily trying to calm the screeching infant. Oda and Val were making silly faces, Fer was trying to negotiate, and Ranir was just panicking. None of it worked and the hatchling was starting to turn red in the face. Until Yir picked it up under its armpits and hugged it. Shocked, everyone else just stared as the youngest of the group managed to quiet the screaming babe.
Unfortunately that was the exact moment the infant's actual minder arrived.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"
THUD
And the screeching began anew.
"And that'ss why master d-doesn't like to be carried," explained a much older Fer.
"Oh," expelled a slightly less forlorn Darunia. He was currently sitting and rubbing a slightly tender spot on his ribs.
Who knew rock people could bruise.
AN: Soooo sorry about the missed updates. Life got a bit hectic and my beta was having some technical difficulties. (It's still not fixed but we found a way). Anyway enough about me, let's move onto the chapter.
Yeah baby Volga. Everybody wants that right *crickets* right moving on. The hardest part of this chapter was giving names to the group. And I thought it'd be funny if they were responsible for Volga's no random carry rule. Come on let's be real I'm pretty sure most of us have been dropped as a baby. And after that there was always adult supervision.

The Wolf of Farore - Chapter 14
Tumblr media
An Ongoing Zelda/Witcher Fusion Fic - Updates Wednesdays/Thursdays
[First] [Previous] [Next] [Archive]
Summary:
War has come to The Kingdom of Hyrule.  The people cry for a savior as monsters and spirits stalk the once green fields of the provinces.  Famine grips the populace as the Gerudo Tribes and their blin allies strike along the borders.  Hope for peace begins to drown in the blood spilled in No Man’s Land.  But Hyrule doesn’t need another hero.  It needs a professional.
The Story So Far:
A brief respite on Death Mountain has Link and Midna discussing what will happen next as he prepares to head to Snowpeak to try and convince the zoras to not join the war.  Nothing is ever simple though and in the journey, he finds himself adrift and swarmed by skullfish before blacking out...
CHAPTER 14:  A DEAL WITH RALIS
When he was fully conscious, he found he was standing stripped to his shorts and bound in manacles in a wet cell.  A pair of zora guards wearing scale armor and large, mask-like helmets stood outside it, talking quietly.  He still had the wolf around his neck at least.  Link glanced about and listened.
“Why would Labrynna send a spy anyways?” one of the guards whispered.  It echoed against the stone walls of the dungeon enough that he could hear. Their coral spear clicked against the floor as they moved slightly.
“I don’t know,” the other said.  “Maybe they’ve heard the rumors.”
“I hope they’re just that.” They shook their head.  “Do you see all those scars?”
“I recognized a couple skullfish bites and he was bleeding when they found him washed up.  Recognized a couple more too.  Deku babas on the arms and stomach, couple on his chest. And the scratches on the back…”
“Those looked like dodongo claws.  And the burns.  What was that one on his collar?”
“I don’t know, it still looks recently healed.”  They must’ve been referring to the one from the dead hand he reasoned.  Link glanced around as carefully as he could without drawing their attention.  This was definitely one of their cells.  “If he’s not a spy though, he could be one of those berserkers from Holodrum with the sort of equipment he was carrying…  Or a monster slayer.  Maybe specializing in the preternatural?  Why else would he have that strange wolf and the silver crossbow bolts?”
“I don’t think so.  He could be an assassin.”  Link saw one of them lean in a little more to their companion’s ear.  “He had those bottles.  And the one the witch called venomblood.  Said it was a horrible way to go.”  There was a creak of a door opening.  The two guards immediately quieted and stood at attention.  They spoke quieter than before.  He got a glimpse of who they were talking with.  The zora was shorter than the other two, and his coloration was different, more a shade of grey than the blues of the guards.  He was dressed similarly, but lacked the helmet.  Link did spy jewelry around their neck and the two fins that hung to the sides of his face had more as well, including a pair of coral earrings at the end.  He had never met them, but knew instantly it was the young prince Ralis for he had seen him once during a visit with Zelda when he served as an agent of The Crown. It had been years ago though by now. If Link had to take a guess, Ralis was now around the same age he had been when he’d earned the blue and white tunic.
The smaller zora pushed the cell door open.  The guards entered first and kept their spears trained on Link.  He looked the hylian over slowly.  Link didn’t react.  He watched carefully though, looking for an out in the event he needed one.
“We’ll keep this simple,” Ralis said.  “You tell me your name and what you were doing clinging to the bottom of the Prince of Hyrule’s riverboat.”
Was he too late?  Had an alliance already been signed?  Honesty though he thought in some areas would work better at least.  He took a deep breath.  “I heard the zoras were going to join the war against Ganondorf,” he said.  “If it was true, it could cause the Storm Sea Zora to get involved as well.  That could drag The Empress and Labrynna into the conflict.  Did not want to be detected by the Hyrulean forces.”
“Surprisingly well-versed in current events, whatever you are.  And you are not a Labrynnan in spite of the armor you wore.”  He watched Link closely.  “You still didn’t tell me your name.”
 “Link.”
“Well, Link.  You carry some very interesting equipment as well.”
 “Pays to be prepared.”
“And what does a man like you need things like venomblood or skulltula venom for?  Or a variety of different bolts for a small crossbow?  Or a subrosian-forged arming sword all the way from Holodrum?”
He wasn’t going to tell them what he had once done, but the two guards earlier had given him ideas. “I’m a problem-solver.  I solve people’s problems, they pay me.”
 “So you’re an assassin.”
 “No.”
“You carry plenty of tools to be considered one.”
“I try not to kill people.” He rolled his head a little. “Only monsters.  Draconids like dodongos and forktails.  Hybrids such as griffins, lynels...   As well as the undead and necrophages like drowners and ghouls. That’s what the venomblood is for.” He looked at one of the guards. “You wanted to know the one on my collar?  Dead hand. The bites on my right calve?  A redead that had been blown in half by a bomb. And you were right.  Those three on my back were from a king dodongo.”
Ralis nodded slowly. He looked to one of the guards for a moment and then back to Link.  “Perhaps then we can strike a deal.  Your life for a demonstration of your skills.”
“Can you remove the manacles then?”
“Not yet.”  He raised a hand.  “There is a monster at one of our holy sites.  And we would like to see it taken care of.  Can you kill it?”
He sighed.  “I would need information.  Reports, scouts, past encounters…  Might even need to contact an information broker on what it is.  In which case I’d need funding to pay them for their services.”
“I thought you said you went after monsters.”
“I might do that, but I’m not stupid about it.  I’m not like a knight going off at a dragon because his lord asks him to.  I need to know what I’m going after.  Need to know its habits.  Its weaknesses, track it…”
 “I see.”
“You want it done right, I need information and resources.”  He looked them right in the eye.  “And my equipment back.  All of it.”
There was a pause as the zora noble looked to the guards.  “Release him.”
“Your highness, are you sure?” the guard asked.
“I’m sure.”  He looked back to Link.  “You’ll be unarmed until we leave here though.”
“Understandable,” Link said. He watched as a zora undid the manacles. He rubbed his wrists for a moment once free.  The feeling had come back quickly.  “Now, what can you tell me about this monster?”
“It’s unlike anything we’re familiar with,” Ralis said.  He headed for the cell door.  Link followed with the remaining guard behind him.  “When we first encountered it, it was like a chu, drifting in the water. But it had something inside it.”
“That’s not uncommon. Chus usually engulf prey.  And they can get pretty big.”
“That something though seemed to move and direct the creature,” the guard said.  “We chased it into the Lakebed Temple, but lost it in there. Eventually it found us though.”
 “How so?”
“There were six of us. We entered one of the larger chambers and it attacked us.  It had turned the water in the room into a part of itself.  We did manage to wound it.  The core, the object inside it bled.  But it broke a grate and escaped deeper into the temple.”
Link began to think how it could have done such a thing.  “How long between the initial encounter and this attack?”
“Took us about a day to find it again?”
“And how long has it been since then?”
 “A week.”
“So this thing could be even bigger now.”  He looked to the guard.  “How many survived the attack?”
“Just me,” he said. He bowed his head a little and then looked at the hylian.  “When it was down to three of us, we drew straws.  One of us would go back and report what we’d found.  I don’t think they’re still alive.”
“If they are, I’ll find them.”  They came to a guard’s room then.  The other of the two guards had already set out Link’s armor and clothes.  They were still a little damp, but not soaked through like when he’d been in the river.  He picked it up and started to get it back on.  “Can it leave the temple?”
“No,” Ralis said. “It’s trapped there.  It’s a concern though that it’ll find a way.”
“Makes things simpler.” He pulled his pants on and then quickly did the boots.  “I will need at least four frost bombs.  Clockwork timers instead of fuses.”
“Frost bombs?  You realize how dangerous those are.”
“Yes I do.  I’ve used them before.”  Admittedly though, he had never used them on another living being. However, the circumstances dictated he’d have to.  He just hoped it wasn’t as terrifying to watch as when he’d watched Lana freeze a pack of drowners and proceed to shatter them into scything and bloody chunks with a burst of wind magic.
“I’ll have a guard get them to you when you enter the temple.  And not a moment before.”
It was a small relief to him he wouldn’t be carrying the devices until he truly needed them. “Fine by me.”  He pulled a shirt on and tucked it in before slipping a belt on. “I’d assume then we’re close to Lake Hylia.”
 “You are.”
“Good.”  He pulled the tunic on then over his head.  “I’m going to need to visit the Cardinal Inn before I go to the temple.  Maybe a local has seen the creature or heard something you haven’t.”
The last time Link had been to Lake Hylia had been during The Conjunction with Ravio and Midna. During his time there, they’d slain an archgriffin that had been terrorizing the populace and closed the last portal between Hyrule and Lorule.  On the outside as he walked through the paths between simple huts, it didn’t look like it had changed at all, apart from the fact the inn they’d stayed at had been burned to the ground.  Another one had taken its place not far from its location though.  It had a bright red cardinal weathervane on its grass roof. A similar sign hung over the door. It was a recent addition and the paint was still fresh on the walls.  Link pulled the facemask up over his face to help conceal his identity as he pushed the door to it open.  He could smell something cooking as he entered.  The downstairs was fairly empty apart from a couple locals who were congregated around a table.  One of them glanced over when they saw the new arrival but they were soon back to their tankard.  Link approached the bar.  Behind it was a young man cleaning it.  He looked barely old enough to have facial hair.  There was also a very large fluffy cat lapping up a saucer of cream.
“Do you have any milk?” he asked.
“For thirty.”
Link dug into his wallet while the young man got his drink.  He slipped them a purple rupee and took a long drink.  “Keep the change.”
He grinned at seeing his payment.  “Anything else?”
“I wish to speak with the proprietress as well.”  He glanced at the cat then.  “I’m sure Louise can vouch for me.”
The cat glanced up when he spoke.  Her eyes followed his every move then.  The young man quickly rushed into the back of the tavern.  Link had caught a look of worry on his face at mentioning the cat. He took a drink of his milk and looked at the cat then.  She had started to become alert.  He saw her moving and her hair starting to stand on end, making her look even larger than she already was.  He watched even as the cat’s pupils dilated and her tail swished.
He looked the cat right in the eyes for a moment, but broke contact and went back to his milk.  She followed suit though and returned to lapping at her saucer.  Link however, heard footsteps from behind.  He slowly moved his hand, ready to pull the hidden knife from his bracer if he had to.  “Can I help you?” he asked.
“Can help the lot of us,” one of the locals said.  To his right, Link saw a poster placed on the bar.  A quick glance was all he needed to see his face on it and a bounty of a thousand rupees.  “Just come quietly.”
Link took another drink and turned to face them.  They were dressed simply and it was clear they had no rank.  One did hold a club in their hands, but the other two were unarmed. A quick glance was all he needed to determine the way to take them.  “You are aware of how devalued the Hyrulean Rupee has become because of the war, yes?”
“That can still feed our families!” the one with the club said.  “And no one likes deserters!”
“Do you three really think they’d put out such a high bounty on a single deserter?” a woman said. They looked to their lefts.  Link glanced that way as well.  Telma stood with her arms folded under her chest. Her dark red hair was back in her usual ponytail and the apron she wore was bloodied.  Link also spotted a meat cleaver hanging from the apron.  “If you three think going after someone with that sort of price on his head is smart, you’re cut off for today.”  She looked at Link then.  “I hear you want to speak with me.”
“Somewhere private, please,” Link said.  He looked back at the three men.  “She’s right though too.  The price might be that high because of the danger.”  He grabbed his milk and walked over to her.  She turned then and they headed into the kitchen.  Telma pushed the door open and waited for him to enter. It swung behind them.
“By Din, Link,” she said, giving him the look of a scolding mother.  “Are you insane?!  There’s posters of you all over from here to the South Seas!  And all I’ve been able to get from the usual suspects is that you’re a traitor!”
“Do you believe them?” he asked.
“You’re not working for Zelda anymore, I know that much.”  She removed the apron and meat cleaver to hang on the wall.  Link spied a slaughtered boar on a table.  Two other people were at work preparing it for a meal. “And if that’s the case, I don’t think I can help you.  You had the Royal Treasury to draw on.”
“Then why even talk to me if you’re so sure?”
“Call it a professional courtesy, hun.”  She folded her arms.  “You made sure you paid in full whenever you came by.  Never ran up a tab either.  And you got a couple of your Chosen buddies to help make sure the rioting didn’t burn down my old bar with me still in it.”
He leaned against the wall then and took another drink of his milk.  “Well, for the moment I have access to a royal treasury, just not Hyrule’s. Which is why I’m here.  Prince Ralis of the Snowpeak Zoras has contracted me to handle the monster in the Lakebed Temple.  Told him I needed a broker to get some extra information.”
“Monster?  In the temple?”  She narrowed her eyes.  “You’d better step into my office then…”  Telma turned and Link followed her into a back room.  It had the curtains drawn and a simple desk in the middle of the room. She sat down behind it.  The cat, Louise, had followed her in and jumped on the table.  “We’d heard rumors from some of the zora guards of something in there, but nothing you could call reliable.”
“And why is that?”
“Because none of my agents have gotten down there to get a look at it.”  She gave Louise a pat.  The fluffy white cat purred.
“As expected…”  Link pulled a chair up and sat down.  He rested his arms on his legs, leaning in. “Now, I’ve also heard rumor that they might be joining the war.  How much of that is true?”
“It’s not a rumor. It’ll be true in a couple weeks I’d expect.  Even Zelda herself has been up there talking with the king and queen.”  She scratched Louise behind the ear.  The cat lay on the desk then, looking quite content.  “A lot of the senate up there though have voiced concerns that the king and queen are thinking with their hearts rather than their minds in regards to this.”
“How so?”
“The king’s daughter from his first marriage, Ruto, has gone missing.  Hyrule is offering to use their information network and a couple Chosen to find and return her.  In exchange, the zoras let them use the large rivers and lakes for their armies.  This includes plans for new irrigation to help prepare more food as it’s looking like this war will continue another year.”
“Terrific…”  He finished his milk and put the glass on the table.  “What about Labrynna?”
“There has been… Vocal protest by the sea zora ambassadors in the court.  Conflicts like this have happened in the past and it always ends in tears for both sides. Worrying that this will affect their trade even more than it already has.  They’re not having any of it.  And…  I could have an agent find out what Empress Ambi’s thoughts are on the entire matter.  It wouldn’t come cheaply though.  And I doubt Ralis would like you spending his money that way.”
She was right about that. Even though the prince was probably only in his teens, the way he’d handled the interrogation was impressive. “Do you know if they tried finding her themselves?”
“I do.  But no word on if it was successful.”  She removed her hand from Louise, who let out a mew in protest. “I’d expect it failed though.  And that there’s more going on than they’ve told you.”
Link thought on what he’d been told.  If this was all true, he could be looking at more work to rescue the princess.  He’d be willing to do it if it prevented the risk of Labrynna entering the war.  “Do you have any leads on where she could be?  Just yes or no.  Not if you actually know.”
“I can find out.”
“We may have this conversation again then.”  He stood up.
“That all you need, hun?”
“For the zoras, yeah. But I do have something that may require me to start a tab…  Personal interest.”
Her eyebrows rose. Louise even looked up at him. “Never thought I’d see the day. What kind of personal interest?”
He looked back at her. “I need information on polymorphic curses and Majora’s Mask.  Preferably how they’re related and methods of breaking them.”
Telma inspected him carefully then.  He was aware of how insane the request sounded.  “I’m not sure if you’re serious or you hit your head on something. That’s just an old story.”
“But every story has a grain of truth to it.  Even if it’s archeological information, I need it.”  He took a deep breath.  “And I have a friend who is afflicted by such a curse.  I promised to help.  The Mask is the only lead we have.”
She was quiet for a minute, writing down a note on a sheet.  “Must be some friend if you’re willing to chase fairy tales.”  Telma finished and put her pen down. “Alright.  I should have something then soon.  I have an agent or two who could get that for you.”

Breaking the Shield in Ganon Castle
You need to first get into each room and reach the ball of mystic beneath the icon door. There are a certain set of instruments and weapons needed for each door. (forest room-iron’shoes, grapple, sky shoes) (fire’room-sky shoes, grapple, golden gauntlets) (shadow room-sky shoes, grapple, bow of fire, megaton hammer, lens of truth) (light room-ocarina of time, lens of truth) (water room-sword) (spirit room-bomb Chuu, mirror shield) once you get to the ball use any bow (I would prefer the bow of light). Send the arrow flying towards the gap between the ball and the top spike. Then the spirit will come and take you to the entrance of the door. The shield’s power is reduced. TIPS:you need to destroy all six barriers in order to get in. 2. Achieve the dark mystic before the the fire mystic. 3. After all the five rooms, go to the rock pillar, carry it and break it. 4. Raura’s ball is present beyond the illusion wall. Contact me at ( Com) for more doubts. I finished the game.
Never Breaking Goron Knife!
To make it so your Goron Knife will never break, you must compleat a series of delivery missions.
Note: You can only do this as an adult.
1. Go to the village that is before Death mountain. Talk to the chicken lady that asks you to find her chickens when you are a kid. She will give you a Poket Chicken egg. Play the Sun Song twice to make a day go by and the egg should hatch. Then find Talon ( He will be in a house in the same village ) and wake him up ( You have to have already gotten Epona ). Then give the chicken back to the lady.
2. She will then give you a blue chicken named Cojiro. You must take it to a man in the Lost Woods. He is near the entrance of the Lost Woods. Once you enter, go left ( right for someone playing Master Quest ). He will be sitting beside a stump.
3. Once you give him Cojiro, he will give you a mushroom. You will have 3 minutes to take it to the old woman behind the potion shop in the village from before.
4. She will give you some medicine. Take it back to the place the man was in Lost Woods, but instead of the man, there will be a Kokiri Girl there. Give it to her.
5. She will give you a saw. Take it to the man outside of the tent right before you get to the Gerudo Fortress.
6. He will give you a broken Goron Sword. Take it to Biggoron. He is on top of Death Mountain, by the Fairy Fountain where you get the Spin Attack.
7. He will give you a prescription for eye drops. Take it to King Zora ( If you don’t know how to unfreeze him, put some blue fire in a bottle and use it on him ).
8. He will give you a frog, and you will have 3 minutes to take it to the building beside Lake Hylia. ( DO NOT TRY TO USE THE SONG TO TELEPORT THERE, IT WILL NOT WORK ). Give it to the ugly guy inside.
9. He will give you eye drops, and you will have 4 minutes to take them back to Biggoron. Again, do not try to use the Bolero of Fire to get there.
10. Biggoron will give you a claim check. Play the Sun Song a whole buch of times to make a few days go by, then give it back to him. He will give you the Knife, but it will be called the Goron Sword, and it will never break. Note: You cannot use a shield when you have the sword out.
Carry More Money
After getting about 25 skulltula tokens, go to the skulltula house, (as an adult). They’ll give you the shard of agony and a wallet. You have more money to carry.
Get Past Zora’s Domain
First, go talk to zora. Then head left and play the diving game. It costs 20, but you’ll get back the money. Now you can dive deeper. Take the short cut to lake hylia. You will see a bottle underwater. Dive and take it ashore. Open it and read the note. Now, go back to zoras domain and show king zora the letter. He’ll leave way to get to jabu-jabu. Now, come back and go to the shallow part near the store. Then, catch a fish using the bottle. Go to jabu-jabu and open the bottle. He opens his mouth. Complete the level and poof. Go to hyrule castle.
Get Past Goron City!
FIRST, YOU NEED TO FIND SARIA! GO RIGHT TO THE WOODS EXIT AND CLIMB THE CLIFF. GO TO THE LOST WOODS. FOLLOW A PATTERN LIKE LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, STRAIGHT AND SOMETHING. (I’M NOT SURE. ) ! WHEN YOU COME A DEAD END WITH A ROCK BETWEEN TWO WAYS, TAKE THE LEFT. GO THROUGH THE MAZE AND YOU’LL FIND SARIA! SHE’LL TEACH YOU A TUNE. LEARN IT AND GO PLAY IT TO DURANIA. (KING OF GORONS. ) THEN YOU’LL RECEIVE THE GORON BRACELET! BLAST OPEN THE EXIT TO DODONGO CAVERN BY THROWING THE BOMB FLOWER ONE GORON WILL BE GUARDING. (RIGHT WHEN YOU EXIT GORON CITY). THE PATH IS CLEAR! . COMPLETE THE MISSION TO RECEIVE THE FIRE STONE. (OR GORON RUBY). SEE VISIONS IN THE SHEIKAH STONE NEXT TO YOUR HOUSE FOR MORE INFO. OR WHEN YOU FAINT ANY WHERE.
Get A Cow In Your House
Go to LonLon Ranch and talk to Malon. She will ask you if you want to race around on Epona the fence 2 times. If you beat the record of 50 seconds Malon gives you a cow. To find the cow, go to your house in Kokiri Forest and the cow will be in your house. Cows give you LonLon milk if you hold out your bottle.
Heart Piece On Top Of Dodongo’s Cavern
Same as my original Note: the heart container was my original not piece. 1: get to higher ground (left hand side of goron). 2: jump on top of dodongo’s cavern. 3: get the heart piece! 4: be happy! 5: continue playing the game.
Heart Container On Top Of Dodongo’s Cavern
To get the heart container, go to the ledge and get on higher ground (left hand side of goron). Get on the fence and jump on to the top of Dodongo’s cavern. Now you have five hearts!
The Happy Mask Shop Side Quest
Keaton Mask – This popular mask is modelled after the wily keaton fox. Sell it to the Hylian guard by the Death Mountain gate in Kakariko Village.
Skull Mask – This monstrous mask will make you look like a Skull Kid. Sell it the lost kid in the lost woods that is on the tree-trunk (not the trunk where there are two kids).
Spooky Mask – This scary mask is similar to a ReDead’s face. Sell it to the kid in the graveyard.
Bunny Hood – Some people believe that these bunny ears will make you run faster and jump higher. When worn at night, no monsters will appear in Hyrule Field. Sell it to the guy running around Lon Lon Ranch.
Goron Mask – A mask that looks like a Goron.
Zora Mask – A mask that looks like a Zora.
Gerudo Mask – A mask that looks like a Gerudo.
Biggoron’s Sword
1 . Visit Kakariko village while an adult and locate the Cukku Lady. Talk to her and she will give you an egg. Wait for it to hatch overnight then find Talon asleep in a house in the village – use the Cukku to “cluck” and talon will be awoken. Now go back to the Cukku lady and she will give you a bluer Cukku egg.
2. Now, take the Blue Cukku to the lost woods, it should hatch on the way over there. Find an odd somber looking man sitting near a tree and show him the Blue Cukku and you will receive a mushroom.
3. Now head back to Kakariko village and bring it to the potion shop (near Death Mountain Pass). Enter the shop and pass the counter on the left to go out back. Walk up the stairs to find the witch who is looking for this mushroom. Do this and you will get a new potion.
4. Now go all the way back to the lost woods, right back to where that odd guy who gave you the mushroom was. There will be an old woman, give her the potion and she will give you the Poachers Saw.
5. Now head over Gerudo Valley, give the carpenter near the bridge the poachers saw, he will give you a broken sword in return, give the Poacher’s Saw to the carpenter at the bridge to Gerudo Valley. He will give you a Broken Sword in place of it.
6. Now go to the top of Death Mountain, pass the Goron cave just continue climbing. Give the broken sword to the Goron up at the top. But there is ash in his eyes from an eruption and he cannot see well. So, he will give you an eye drop prescription.
7. Take this Eye Drops to King Zora. (You must melt the ice of course) and he will give you Frog Eyeballs. Now go to Lake Hyla, you will need to jump the fences with Epona. DO NOT WARP! Go into the hut/lab (not the fishing area) and show the lab worker the Frog Eyeballs.
8. Run to Lake Hylia and give the eyeballs to the scientist at the Lake laboratory. He will then exchange the eyeballs for eye drops.
9. Now you have four minutes, YES FOUR MINUTES before they expire so run as fast as possible, take Epona to Kakariko village, go up Death Mountain Path, and quickly show the Big Goron the eye drops.
10. You will now have to wait three days. Or you could just play the Suns Song six times to fast forward time. By the time three days have past you will have the Biggoron’s Sword. The long, two handed, unbreakable powerful force! And you will get the receipt.
Sarias Fairys
Play the minuet of forest as a kid when you see Saria siting on the log remember what kind of color Sarias fairy is and play the minuet of forest look at Sarias fairy again and the fairywill be a different color.
How To Get Epona Easily
To get epona in the race don’t automatically just start taping a you have to push it every once in a while.
In The Big Tree
When you have to get past the spider web conceiving another room, go to the top of the inside of the tree, defeat the spiders with a slingshot, and jump from the top 3rd floor platform and you wil get in to the next room.
Simple Way to get a Gold Rupee
All you have to do is turn into a kid. Go to zora, s domain or some underground path. Catch a fish in your bottle. Go to the square and give it to the beggar. She offers you a deal of rs. 100. Repeat this infinite times.
Mario In Castle
When you are going to talk to Zelda for the first time. Get into the room where Zelda is and then look though thhe window to your right or left you should see a couple of Mario pipes in the window.
Get As Many Skulltula Tokens As You Want!
After you become Adult Link and learn the Song of Storms and then defeat the Forest Temple so Sheik will show you how to return to the past, become Kid Link again and go to where there is a tree in the corner near the area you first wake up Talon (behind the gate of Hyrule Castle) and then play the song of storms to make a secret grotto appear. Inside you may have to blow up a couple walls but there are grass you can cut to replenish those bombs. You will see a Gold Skulltula use your boomerang twice to destroy it then aim it a third time to get the token it left behind but make sure that you are behind the portal to get back up so that once you throw the boomerang and it has the token you can quickly move into the portal before the boomerang comes back to you and when you come up on top, you will have the token but the skulltula will still be in the grotto which means if you keep repeating the process you could really get up to 999 of the skulltulas before it just stops counting. Its the easiest way to get the 100 if you want to be able to unlock all things at the skulltula house. NOTE: I suggest that if you think you may not do it right and want to practice or whatever to save right before you attempt to do this glitch because other wise you won’t be able to try after if you mess up. And if you do it right and do it right so many times in a row, save again so you don’t have to start over if you accidentally don’t get back in the portal in time. It’s better to be safe then sorry.
2 Ways To Easily Get A Gold Rupee
First way everyone knows is by getting 100 gold skulltulas and going to the dad of the spider curse family and keep going to him as much as you want for more gold rupees. But I found a second way without needing to get that many skulltulas. Instead as Adult Link, go to the Lost Woods and to the left where the Skull Kid is at (may have to do the trading up to giving the mushroom medicine to the kokori girl) and since you aren’t a kid anymore he fights you. Just hit him about 4 or 5 times and he will leave behind a Gold rupee. Just like with the skulltula dad, every time you repeat this trick the Skull Kid will leave behind another gold rupee.

The Wolf of Farore - Chapter 10
Tumblr media
An Ongoing Zelda/Witcher Fusion Fic - Updates Wednesdays/Thursdays
[First] [Previous] [Next] [Archive] [On Ao3]
Special Author Announcement: (7-12-17):  Hello everyone.  Only ten chapters posted, but this has been a long time in the works and I want to thank every single person who took the time to read it this far, be it even just a quick glance or following it closely.  I hope that in some way it has provided you some degree of amusement and am quite thankful for it.
Anyways, a brief piece of history.  I started this project, kind of on a whim on July 16, 2016.  This coming Sunday will be the anniversary of when the project first started.  Not when it started getting posted, that obviously was earlier this year on Ao3, but to kind of celebrate I will be doing a special little series of things related to the AU.  These’ll range from just tossing random factoids from my research/development for writing it (and prolly not completely related to the setting such as how terrifying it is at the bottom of the ocean)  to actually taking a few requests for pieces to write including ‘contracts’ where you can offer a monster and I’ll do a short piece where Link takes the job to handle the creature.
More to come but again, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read even just a couple words.  Be it here on tumblr or on Ao3, you guys are awesome!  Special thanks to @mittensmcedgelord and @ladykuro for your continued support and help.  It would literally not have been possible without either of you!
On his way back into No Man’s Land, Link runs into his old friend, a sorceress of The Twilight, Midna.  She had a problem that required his help as to avoid causing potential problems with the rest of the Light World.  It has set the two back to Death Mountain on the trail of a dangerous mask stolen right out of the shadows it was sealed in...
CHAPTER 10:  POST-MORTEM
Since his last visit, the archive dome had been picked up some, but there was still plenty to be put away. It was late though and only Link, Midna and Gorko were within it. The dragon’s head was dropped on one of the tables after a couple thick cloths had been placed to help limit the mess.
“Well, probably good we’re doing this sooner rather than later,” Gorko said.
“Why’d you guys not even skin it before hanging it up?” Midna asked.
“Tradition!” He grinned a little. “Give everyone a chance to see what the monster looked like. Though originally we’d planned to use the embalming and preservation to have it be a trophy. But it looks like it’s already falling apart. Had to remove the eyes actually.”
“They did it with that archgriffin we got out by Lake Hylia,” Link said. “Before The Conjunction I was along the range and got a King Dodongo that was causing problems. Its head got preserved and it’s hanging in one of the halls at the palace.”
“I heard about that. Said they saw a Chosen limping away with his back bloodied.”
Link winced a little at the goron’s words. “Y-yeah. I got really lucky when it tried to pin me.” He pulled his knife from his belt and flipped it expertly in his hand.
Midna snapped her fingers and one of the shadowy crystals appeared floating over her index finger. “Alright,” she said. “Let’s get to work on this thing.” She flicked her finger and the crystal floated away and hovered over the dragon’s head. Link carefully started looking it over, finding the damage where he’d removed it from the rest of the body as a good place to start with his knife. “You guys wouldn’t happen to have the rest of the body?”
“It’s still in the crater,” Gorko said. “But it’s decaying far faster than we’d expected it would. And it’s not the heat and the environment there. The crater is active and all, but it’s got splotches of black parts that turn to ash.”
“Magic. It’s got a lot of magic in it’s body. “Y’know how some magic entities when the energies are broken they just poof into nothing?”
“No?”
“Sometimes cursed beings do the same thing,” Link added. “Some of the nastier redeads and stalkin will literally turn into ash and smoke. All that magic altering them.”
“Yep. And you can apply the same thing to the living by altering them with magic. The Interlopers did that long time ago. But the more magic you put into something, the less sane it becomes. Until it’s more or less just a mindless drone.”
“He was definitely starting to lose it,” Gorko said. “And his eyes turned black. Like, completely black! You could see yourself in them! That’s actually why we had to remove them. They started to smoke and when we managed to remove them, they just turned to ash.”
Link looked up at Midna, noticing the crystal drop slightly. They exchanged a glance and serious expressions. “Gorko, right?” Midna started. “Can you get us some tea and maybe something to eat quick?”
“Uh, yeah. I can go get you guys some stuff. Anything in partic-“
“Oh, whatever’s good and still warm. Can’t be too picky out here. Especially with everything else going on.”
“Alright.”
The goron walked out of the dome then. Soon as the door had closed, Link sighed. “Y’know you could’ve been a little more patient with him,” he said, prying the skin off the skull under the mane.
“And we are in serious trouble if that sorcerer tried to twist a dragon like what happened to Yeta.” She had a finger pointed right at him. “That was just energy from The Twilight gradually altering her. Not someone deliberately trying to control her.”
“How could you tell?” The meat and muscle squelched as Link kept working to remove the flesh from the head. He was making progress, even if the dried blood was starting to flake and make a mess.
“The eyes. Yeta’s turned red. Your dragon here didn’t.” She pointed at her own eyes for a moment. “Why most twili have red eyes because of that exposure and just generations of it coupled with our common ancestry with the sheikah people. Enough general exposure will do it. But with the only way between our worlds now being dawn and dusk and with a whole pile of twilit magic, something like that isn’t gonna happen naturally in the Light World. Gorko also said they turned black. Were they something else before?”
“Yeah.”
She swore in twilise and shook her head as her hands were planted on her hips.
“What?”
“I need a local map.”
“So he’s here?”
“Probably. Or at least somewhere along the range. And because you didn’t have your charm I bet you didn’t notice anything off about this dragon too.” Another shadowy crystal formed in her right hand as she let go of her hip. Teal bands of light crackled from her fingertips and started to cut into it.
“He was a shapeshifter. First ran into him as a human knight. Think they have the spear he used around here still.” He looked up from his work. “And what was I supposed to do? Let The Tower watch my every move through it?” Link stopped for a second, pulling the knife out. “Though, they probably are still looking for me and trying to track me from there anyways. And Cia’s very good at tracking me ever since The Conjunction.”
“Well, let’s see her track you with this then.” The magic flickered off the crystal but it no longer appeared as the other one. Instead it looked like the head of one of her wolves with emeralds for its eyes. With a flick of her fingers, a silver chain formed and it flew from her palm.
With barely noticing it’s path, Link raised his right hand and caught it. He heard his friend laugh.
“Good to see that your reflexes weren’t in that thing.”
“Heh.” He inspected it carefully then. The eyes of the wolf seemingly glowed strongly and the chain rattled as it shook due to the magic in the air. “So, what do I owe you for this?”
“Getting that mask back,” she said with a smirk. “With your mutations you should be fine from any exposure that comes from it. It’s so little anyways it’s probably equal to whatever is able to slip through when our worlds are in alignment.”
“Does it work like my old one?” Link pulled his hat off and stuffed it in his belt before slipping the chain and the wolf charm around his neck.
“Pretty much. Only you can’t use it to talk to people unless you’re the one who initiates it. Or someone else has a piece of the same crystal it was cut from.”
“Meaning…” He chuckled a little and looked at the other crystal that was still floating over the dragon’s head. “Meaning I can bother you whenever I want then.”
“Not quite. But if we’re in the same world yeah.” The door opened to the dome again and the two looked to see the goron archeologist had returned carrying a large tray with a pair of plates on it and a teapot with steam flowing out of the spout. “So, why’d you run off all of a sudden then rather than investigate why the dragon was acting weird?”
“Kakariko.” He picked the knife up again and carefully started to pull more of the mane and skin back. “Sheikah village after all and loyal to The Crown. They came to investigate what was going on. Couldn’t stick around or I’d put all the other refugees in danger.”
“Have you found anything yet?” Gorko asked as he put the tray down.
“Still getting the mane away but should get a better look soon here.” A second after he’d spoke, the crystal above it darted to the back of the dragon’s skull and began to spin. He looked up at Midna.
“Found something that’s not supposed to be there,” she said. “Get digging.”
“Heh.” He pulled the mane away and started carefully removing the rest of the scales and skin. “Y’know, you should be back here or use your magic to just finish stripping the flesh off the bones.”
A look of mock shock came across her face. “And ruin my nice gloves?!” she cried. Her lips curled into a smirk. “You’re already back there working on it anyways.”
“Yeah, yeah. We both know you could do it without even touching the thing though.”
“Would make it go a lot quicker though,” Gorko said. “You really don’t want to ruin your gloves?”
She turned slightly to face him. “It would be faster, but we’re also trying to find specifically what sort of weird magic is going on here. I use mine on it to remove all the skin and matter from it and the sample becomes contaminated with my own energies. We could still pick it out, but would take days rather than minutes.”
There was a squish as his thumb slipped and punctured the flesh. A foul stench came out of it, causing Midna to cough and Link to wince. He expected his thumb to have pressed into the dead dragon’s brain, but instead it just fell into a gap. Thankful for his gloves, he probed further with his thumb for a moment before removing it. With both hands he picked the head up and pushed the mane out of the way of the hole again.
“Ugh, that is ripe.”
“Windows already open,” Gorko said.
“Get me a light,” Link said. He heard the snap of the sorceress’ fingers and a small glowing white sphere floated next to the back of the dragon’s head. A brief glance at it reminded him instantly of the sols that dotted The Twilight. Carefully he took it and lowered it to inspect the wound further. “Something got in the back of his skull.” He rooted around a little more with his finger before pulling it back and shining the light inside. “Oh…”
“What?”
“Midna, you remember that archgriffin?”
She cringed. “Oh, gods. Don’t tell me.”
“Twilit bloat,” he said. “Burrowed right into the back of his head.” Link moved his finger a little then, finding the creature’s legs hooked into the gray matter. “Doesn’t feel like a very big one. Smaller than the one we saw with the griffin.” He pulled his finger out, grateful for the gloves and worked the knife into the opening to remove the dead parasite.
“So gross,” Midna said with a groan.
“Can smaller ones do what the bigger ones can?”
“Yeah. Yeah they can. And are pretty reactive to the appropriate magic too.”
“You two aren’t going to have an appetite after this I’m betting,” Gorko said.
“I’ll be fine,” Link said. “I’ve long gotten used to the smell of rot and burning bodies.” He caught what he was saying as he pulled the parasite out and dropped it on the blanket. Its hooked feet still had pieces of the dragon’s brains attached to it, but it was clearly dead. “That’s probably-“
“…Probably a bad sign,” Midna replied, saying the exact same thing he had. The exchange made Gorko chuckle a little and shake his head. The crystal lowered and floated over the twilit bloat’s corpse before falling. “Well, this is proof enough for me that the artifact is to blame.”
“It is?”
“The magic is familiar. Let’s just leave it at that.” Link glanced at her when she said it. He pieced it together as well. The twilit bloat was just the strings that had bound Volga to a puppet master. “I’m gonna need a map of the mountain range now.”
“I’ll get that,” Gorko said. “Link, can you take care of the dragon’s head?”
“Yeah,” he said, starting to wrap up the head and the dead bloat in the cloths they’d laid down.
“And when you’re done with that, go take a bath in the hot springs I heard one of the refugees mention,” Midna added.
“Wasn’t that much of a mess, was it?” He finished wrapping the head and tied the cloth together to keep it from falling out.
“You look like a mangy wolf and you were right in the path of the stink that came from your little autopsy. Go wash up.”
He had to admit, after a long soak in the hot springs, a shave and grooming, he did feel a lot better. Even the bite from the dead hand didn’t ache as much after the heat and steam. It also felt good to not be wearing armor for once. As he walked back to the archive dome he realized he hadn’t been out of a form of armor since he had been thrown in the castle dungeon. He couldn’t help but wonder if Midna had been watching him though. How else would she have been able to find him so quickly and had the recruit’s uniform? He’d not thought about it much as he was eager to just get out of there. When he pushed the door to the archives open and reached the table though, it would have to wait. The twili had fallen asleep with her face on the map. The dark crystal she’d been using for dowsing spun over a single location on the map of the Death Mountain range; Old Kakariko on the Northern Face of the peak.
He pulled Midna’s mantle off the back of a chair and put it over her. The feeling made her stir and glance up. “You looked tired,” he said.
“That tea put me to sleep,” she said. Link stifled a chuckle as he recognized the look in her eyes. “Looks like the dowsing finished. You know this place?”
“Was an old sheikah village,” he said. “Got abandoned in some war long ago with Holodrum. Wouldn’t be surprised if some refugees set up there now.”
Again, she swore in twilise. “I think we know why the jarl’s people got attacked then.” Midna pulled at her cloak and mantle until it was in place again.
“You got a plan for when we run into this guy?”
“Mmm… Ask him nicely to hand over the mask so I can take it back home and him probably in chains for breaking some of our highest laws?”
“Oh, well I’m sure he will since it’s the princess asking him to do so as opposed to a hexer from Hyrule.”
She laughed a little. “Seriously though, I’m expecting he isn’t going to give it up without a fight.”
“So, I’m guessing I play the distraction while you hit him until he’s unable to fight anymore.”
“Actually I was going to have my wolves play that role primarily. He’ll probably be focused on me because he knows what I’m capable of. You’re the wild card though. Given you’re not a mage, he won’t think of you as a big threat. Until you get right up to him and smack some sense into him. And if he’s wearing the mask, rip it off.”
“And if I can’t?”
Midna let out a sigh. “As much as I’d like him to stand trial for stealing one of the most dangerous relics ever thrown into the shadows, a more permanent solution might be safer. If you can’t get it off him, take his head off. This plan too allows us some improvisation if we need it.”
“I can do that.” He glanced about. “Where’s Gorko?”
“He went to bed an hour ago. Did a little digging too into some of the books he’d pulled out for me while you were washing up.” She leaned against the back of the chair and crossed her legs. “Every tale has a grain of truth in it. But without something like the Royal Archives, we’re gambling here that we’ve found the right one. My magic, your blade and a couple old stories about nightmares.”
“We’ll need a contingency plan then.”
“You leave that to me.”
“Midna…”
“No, I know what I’m doing.” She folded her arms then with a sigh. “We’ll time our attack around dawn or dusk. If it looks like we can’t stop him, I’ll pull us both back into the Twilight Realm, and I’ll keep him there until the time passes.”
Link’s eyes went a little wide as he looked up at her again. “He could still kill you on the other side.”
“I know.” She looked back at him. “But I cannot let him possibly undo all the damage we spent nearly a year fixing because of The Conjunction.” Midna bowed her head then, looking at the table and the map. “Besides. He came from my clan. He’s my responsibility. Shouldn’t-”
“Then warp me in too. You’ll stand a better chance with me there.”
Her eyes moved to focus on him, barely turning her head as she did. “And then you’ll be trapped there with me.”
“Only until the next cycle. So about twelve hours.” Link rolled his head on his shoulders a couple times to stretch his neck. “I’d not be happy about leaving Epona alone for so long, but if it means we prevent a disaster like that, I could stand it.”
He could see the gears turning. She was seeing how to modify the plan. Or even possibly make it so he’d be left behind when she did it. He recognized how her brow creased and she gritted her teeth while looking away from him. Her painted lips fell into a frown with a sigh and she looked back at him. “You’ll be okay in the wilds of the realm until then? Because I can’t warp us close to the towns or palace. They see you, they’ll want to literally rip you apart probably. And I know you’ve faced groups of magi before, but nothing like a twilit sorcerer cadre.”
“Yeah. I’ve seen you at work. I’m imagining a dozen casters with your skill.”
She laughed. “I’m flattered, Link.” He knew from the grin on her face she was not going to let him forget it. “Alright. Together then.” She got up and adjusted the cloak a little more before pulling the hood back up. “Doesn’t look far. Should be able to get there before dawn.”
“Great. I’ll grab my stuff and let Darunia know we’re on our way out.”
“Good.” When he turned back she was gone. He heard her voice though, right in his ear softly. “Let’s get going then.”
With a nod, he turned and headed out of the archive dome. At the hour, the refugee camp was mostly quiet. There were a few fires still burning but it was clear many had long fallen asleep. He spotted the subrosians still awake and talking with one of the gorons as they looked over one of their finely crafted swords. Once he entered the main dome, he found most of the refugees fast asleep inside and a dying fire glowing in Darunia’s chambers. Link nodded to the lone guard as he passed. The goron boss hadn’t fallen asleep yet it looked like and was pacing. Darunia looked up as he heard Link enter.
“Need something?” he asked.
“We found it,” Link said. “Old Kakariko. We’re heading out now.”
Darunia shook his head as he went to the table. “Right near the border. That’s a refugee camp too.”
The thought of the refugees there and what could have been going on with a rogue twili sorcerer in their numbers was more than enough reason to get a move on for Link. “All the more reason we need to get going. Someone finds that relic and it’ll cause trouble.”
“Try not to cause a panic? I’d rather not risk something with the jarls. Especially with recent news.”
“What do you mean?”
“There’s talk of the zoras near the Snowpeak Range joining Hyrule’s war effort.” He sat down finally and rested his head against his hand. The table creaked under the weight of his elbow. “You know what that means.”
“Labrynna.” Link took a deep breath and rubbed his eye. “Can’t risk a foreign power entering the war. They do ally with The Kingdom and we can expect the sea zora won’t like it at all. If I recall right too, Ambi doesn’t have enough political sway to keep both her people and King Phoceni out of it.”
“And if they don’t like it, we could be looking at an invasion. Hyrule cannot fight a war on two fronts. And neither can the gerudo.”
“So I need to keep them out.”
Darunia nodded slowly. “People are starting to ask questions about you, Link. Some of our traders down in Kakariko found a couple wanted posters with your face on them. A lot of refugees pass through there up the mountain.”
“Have they said what I was to them?”
He shook his head. “Not yet. But you do something big enough…” Darunia pointed a finger at him. “You are playing an incredibly dangerous game. Shekiah are going to start looking for you. And I’m not talking regular agents of The Crown. I’m talking inquisitors. Or outright assassins.”
“I know. One thing at a time though. No one can have this artifact.”
“What’re you going to do with it when you have it?”
“Midna will seal it in shadow. Just like the old stories said it was. No one will get it.” He looked over his shoulder, thinking he heard something outside in the main room. “I know you can’t spare troops, but I thought I’d tell you we were off. And thank you for letting us use the archives.”
“I swore to Jarl Brant that I’d help how I could with this situation. You will not be going alone.”
“You’re coming?”
The goron nodded, giving Link a massive grin as he grabbed his hammer. “I’ll get a few of our finest, including two who know their way around a cobble crusher, just in case. We’ll find out what’s happened at the camp.”
Link smiled a little. He was sure his shadow was as well. “Not expecting the help, but, thank you.”
“Well, if this thing’s as dangerous as it sounds like then you’ll need it. And need to investigate what’s happened.”
