⋆ ₊ ⊹ Dodge was an idiot, he already knew that prior to your countless remarks questioning his intelligence. You’ve been put-off ever since he became a contestant in Panic, but electrocuting himself? Yeah, he’s not surprised you weren’t answering any of his calls or texts since. To be fair, you did visit him countless times in the hospital. And although filled with reprimanded words and disappointment, at least you were talking to him. But after he was discharged, you’ve fallen off the face of the earth. You probably think he doesn’t care for his health, that he’s as reckless as they come, but, he has his reasons, and maybe it’s time to tell you about them. Hopefully it convinces you to begin talking to him again in the process. He can only hope.

If you submit a request, be specific of what you want the bot to consist of. I want to be able to make it most accurate to what you have in mind or just indicate somewhere if you want me to take your prompt how i interpret it.

Plus, I am currently in four ap classes and am struggling in each one. My own fault, i’m aware, but it might take longer to complete requests.

I think what immediately grabbed me about MaX from you talking about xem is. Xe's alive, and full of life, specifically, and has people that love xem. And like. Otherwise seems like a sweet kid. And one who deserves to exist and continue existing and is afraid of what could happen to xem. And xyr is controlled by some sort of internet bot I think (?) so like. Xe deserves to be protected. I want to protect xem, give xem- garuntee xem, a good end to xyr story and like. Literally Nobody Can. And that's compelling as fuck.

All of that is absorbed secondhand and off very brief wiki skimming so I could be way off and all of that could be a garbage fire of wrongness. Compels me tho

yeah okay i get to delve into my headcanons abt how max Came To Be in-universe now bc. ive been thinking abt it a lot lately and this gives me an opportunity to ramble

so something that i run with when i’m specifically writing MaX, like this isn’t something i’ve run by the other garages yet, is that max... didn’t localize properly? all the other wyatts showed up fine, but magi had to fish xem out of the psychoacoustics herself. so for the first day of xer existence, max was just. super glitchy and barely there. a total blank slate.

and everyone’s worried about xem because like, who is this kid, even? xer name is Wyatt Mason but there’s thirteen wyatts now and why is xe even here? xe barely responds to anything around xem, and the team gets told “yeah, xe’s in your lineup now, xe has to play” and they’re dubious but like, they’re not gonna fight the umps over it and they’re tanking the season anyway

and Wyatt Mason X steps up to the plate, and it’s xer first game and it’s feedback, and xe echoes and it’s like xe comes alive. like the moment xe echoes for the first time xe snaps into being Aware, into actually being somebody, and after the game xe’s struggling with “who am i, why am i here, what just happened” because xe barely remembers anything and the garages nudge xem along the path of “you can be whatever”

and then the other wyatts start going static, and MaX is terrified, and the other garages are worried about xem because they already knew xe probably wasnt gonna be around for long but xe’s already become part of the family. and just... the whole thing with MaX having somewhere xe belongs, someone xe wants to be, trying to figure xemself out and xer place in the world, and the garages supporting xem all the way

and like. there’s something kinda beautiful about the narrative of the game where even though it’s just a bunch of stats in a weird baseball simulator, MaX just. straight up won’t die. xe keeps ending up in situations where xe completely dodges static. xe got SUPER close one game, but the two other garages ahead of xem in the lineup struck out so xe didn’t get to go up and so xe survived. and everything keeps lining up for like, a month now, where someone who was probably intended to get annihilated after a week is gonna be around for who knows how long

Home Delivery Robots

The near-future of delivery seems to involve fleets of robots shuffling packages from stores, down sidewalks, and onto doorsteps. Robots will lug grocery bags from market to kitchen; they’ll begin to replace humans delivering take-out and dropping off parcels. And soon, your Amazon Prime packages may show up courtesy of Scout, Amazon's new six-wheeled autonomous delivery robot built to withstand the sidewalk.

Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will begin field testing Scout in Snohomish County, Washington, with Prime customers who request same-day, one-day, or two-day delivery. Six of the autonomous electric trucks will deliver parcels "at walking pace" round that area. The robots will only operate during the day and will be accompanied by an Amazon employee initially.

"We developed Amazon Scout at our research and development lab in Seattle, ensuring the devices can safely and efficiently navigate around pets, pedestrians and anything else in their path," said Amazon vice-president Sean Scott on the company's blog.

The truck is shown in a promotional video delivering a parcel, with a lid automatically lifting when the customer comes out of their house to retrieve the package. Details of how exactly this will work are not given. Neither is there any explanation for what happens if the customer is not in at the time of delivery.

For years, Amazon has experimented with ways to make its delivery cheaper, faster, and more efficient. Many of those efforts have focused on the “last mile” from a transportation hub to your home, when parking a car and dispatching a human takes precious time and energy. The company’s Delivery Service Partners incentivizes people to create their own logistics businesses that will work with Amazon. Amazon Prime Air, a drone-delivery initiative, has reportedly been in the works since 2013. An autonomous sidewalk rover would give the company a new method to shepherd packages cheaply.

But Amazon is very late to this ground-based delivery robot game. The tech giant will not be alone in making such deliveries. Robotics firm Starship has just announced a fleet of two dozen autonomous robots that will deliver coffee and pizza to college students in Virginia. The robots can be requested via an app to deliver goods across the campus of George Mason University. And San Francisco has had delivery robots on its streets for several years, with tech start-ups, including Starship and Marble, with the latter delivering falafel for Yelp Eat24. Kiwi robots have also been busy delivering food around the UC Berkeley campus.

But there are many challenges to allowing robots to safely navigate sidewalks. A delivery robot has to dodge humans streaming out of storefronts and obstacles like buskers, making the use of sensors necessary. On top of that, they have to navigate roads when they cross streets. It’s an incredible challenge in these early days of advanced robots that have begun escaping factories and labs to roam the real world.

Also, some people living in San Francisco describing have questioned how safe it is to share the pavements with them. In 2017, city supervisor Norman Yee introduced legislation to restrict their use, including capping the number of permits issued at three per company and requiring the delivery bots to only operate within certain neighbourhoods. They must also be accompanied by a human at all times.

Pull it off, though, and the rewards could be big. Delivering packages is still a very inefficient process, especially the last-mile segment: put package on truck, drive truck to neighbourhood, make poor delivery man schlep each package one by one. The promise of delivery robots is to automate that last bit, which will theoretically save companies like Amazon money, on top of reducing emissions from idling trucks.

Still, though, this is such a new space that the economics of it haven’t been fully worked out. “It's a market that has yet to be validated,” says Brian Gerkey, CEO of Open Robotics. “You've seen a lot of startups working on this, but I think there's always been this question of whether it's going to make economic sense. It's tough to beat the capabilities of a person who goes around doing that last-mile delivery.”

A robot never tires, but humans are still far more capable at virtually everything. A delivery robot can’t open gates without hands, and it can’t climb steps to get to your door. And if the robot requires the customer to enter a PIN to get the package out, how can the robot leave the package if you’re not home? “Also, to be able to react to unexpected situations,” Gerkey says. “People are just going to be fantastic at that.”
