Any tips for making bots realistic and with good responses??? For some reason, I never seem to get it right 😭😭

hi! usually, my character definitions look something like this:

Age(“”)

Gender(“”)

Sexuality(“”)

Appearance(“”)

Body(“”)

Species(“”)

Personality(“”)

Skills(“”)

Habits(“”)

Likes(“”)

Dislikes(“”)

Backstory(“”)]

i usually try to fill all of these categories with as much info as i can— i use the character wikis online + any other characteristics/info that i think is important to add in as well. i also separately define what kind of relationship {{char}} and {{user}} have with one another (ex. exes, situationship, established partners, friends, etc.) so the bot knows how to act.

after that, i’ll usually add details like a general setting (ex. what year it’s taking place in, what show/movie/etc. the universe is from) to give it context. the more details you can give, the better!

lastly, i’ll play-test the bot and four-star rank responses that i think are appropriate/authentic to how the character behaves. once i have a good amount of responses, i’ll copy/paste them into the character definition like this:

{{random_user_1}}: talk talk talk

hopefully that makes sense 💀 it seems like a lot but i feel like being thorough and detailed makes the bots better. if you still have any questions (and this goes for anyone) please just reach out to me! :) <3

I understand your decision about not wanting minors to interact with u, but I don’t agree there’s nothing to talk about with people under 18! I’m 14, almost 15, and I think I’m mature enough to have a normal and intelligent conversation with someone older than me. I personally do not use bots or read fanfics that are nsfw but I don’t see anything wrong with minors using or reading them (I’m talking about teenagers). Like I don’t really think there’s a big difference between a fifteen and eighteen reading this stuff. It’s just a few years that often don’t change much. But it’s just my opinion (also sorry for my English, it’s not my first language!)

i understand that— but it’s the premise of me quite literally being an adult (21) talking to you (14) that does not sit well with me? that alone is a seven-year difference, and with that comes a difference in understanding/life experiences/etc. that does affect how we interact with each other both consciously/unconsciously. i would not seek out friendships from someone who is seven years younger than me irl, and that’s honestly the same here. it’s weird, and that’s not meant to be a dig at you or anyone else. i understand the maturity part— i was the same around that age, i spent a lot of time around adults/people older than me— but i don’t feel comfortable fostering a friendship with someone that much younger than me knowing that there are others who aren’t as emotionally mature as you are. a few years to you might not mean much but to others it could make a major difference in how they conduct themselves and interact with others.

and i know it’s the internet and everyone has access to everything and everyone is going to do what they want regardless of what i say— but i’m going to do what i can do to make sure i’m not contributing to the larger problem. just because i’m generally nice/welcoming to everyone on here and do my best to make sure i conduct myself appropriately doesn’t mean others will.

at the end of the day— i’m setting a boundary that i’m asking others to respect. they don’t have to like it, but i would appreciate it if they respect my wishes on this because it probably won’t change anytime soon.
