What if Dolls
Trying to make sure I don't have the same rant up on two different blogs because that would be making things way too easy.
But what if there was a more blatant evolution of machines and androids taking place under our noses?
With Classic robot masters it feels as if their anatomy is very similar to anamatronics in the 90s. (fnaf lovers please go away)
I vividly recall there being a lot of anamatronics in water rides and theme parks that had very baggy "skin", where I'm assuming all of the mechanical parts needed to work and breathe without the fear of the machines catching on the cloth.
You can mainly see instances of what I'd assume is this throughout the later Megaman art (?) and X art (in the hips).
(horror fans have ruined the google image search I cannot find irl examples thanks for everything)
But then the further into the X series you get, the more streamlined things become?
I think this is intentional since the games all seemed to come out in a really strange order, with them going back to fill in the lore continuity issues.
But it seems like no more baggy torso cloth skin!
Presumably. I am not here to make a legal argument, I am just drowning in confirmation bias.
I just find it interesting that by the time we get to the Zero series, they all seem to have pivoted away from the anamatronic-like designs and lean more towards what I think are (ball)jointed designs.
Obviously the animal reploids kind of counter this with their bodies being seemingly evolved in a different manner? Maybe even experimental... but the human looking ones seem weirdly consistent. They also have a curious seam down their center, which I can only imagine what that's for exactly or why it was left there. Repair purposes?
MMZ art is wildly inconsistent, but I swear... making them into dolls instead of anamatronics would solve all of their issues. They can have a skeleton a hard shell on the outside and everything all while retaining the look of being human. Soften the skin and you get the reploids from ZX, where they're almost indistinguishable from humans.
I use(d) balljointed dolls for reference a lot when drawing MMZ stuff. The concept fascinates me a lot, especially where mobility is concerned. Something also is wild how you could be looking at a 68kg doll in the eyes while they emote.
Zero having this eerie doll-like look to him that rarely changes while everyone else can emote a bit better just... fhat's so creepy, I dig it.
Pretty but also haunted? :)
#sirius is rambling again#text post#i truly love the concept of robot-dolls#if damaged then you can see how their inner workings are#but theyre not entirely broken?#and you can also crack them which is super cool#and they have feelings and i love angst a bunch#wowie#it's also the reason i headcanon x and zero to not have head hair#i love being at least 4 stages removed from my object of fascination#x being unfinished on dr light's table but has his helmet on#or an unfinished zero always having his helmet on#they are machines not built for everyday life but have the ability to choose that path#i enjoy machines#do.i tag this with mega man
