dont even ask dont even question my design this is for me when i was 12 and hated the haikyuu fandom with my full heart becayse i was crazy and had too specific ideas for the characters. anyways oiushi yuri in that order aka the ship i have a lovehate on and off relationship with. if ushijima was a lesbian she'd be pretty miserable in her teen years this is objective fact

Kagehina is rice. Staple fucking grain, cannot go wrong, immaculate, bedrock of society, put curry on it, put an AU on it, mix in an egg and I'm fed
The akaHinaOmi I just read was foie gras: unnatural, force-fed, but rich, savory and perfect for the refined palate
And we can have both! What a great world

ushioi is like one-sided hate vs one-sided admiration. oikawa hates ushijima's guts and want to defeat him while ushijima really does think highly of oikawa and holds him in high regard. i think watching them fall in love would be cute because oikawa would be like "no! this cant be happening!!!" and ushijima would be like "this is nice." oikawa is having a crisis because hes falling for his rival. ushijima is doing great because the person he likes returns his feelings. thats romcom material right there.

i dont rlly ship them but hey ushioi fans
do yall think ushiwaka ever looks at kageyama's and hinata's weirdly deep setter-striker relationship and wonders if he and oikawa could've had what they have if he had went to the shiratorizawa?

What do you think about UshiOi/OiUshi? I know they don’t get along but….. Don’t have to do this one if you don’t want to..
m 🤔
Im gonna be honest with you, I was downright against this ship most of my haikyuu days. I just dont like it, but I do think I dont like it due to the fanon version of it, not because I ever actually thought of it myself.
The "What do you think of my worthless pride now?" "Its fantastic" pages of the post timeskip are genuinely almost enough to make me convert then and there. That dark, possessive "Its fantastic," as all Ushijima ever wanted was for Oikawa to reach his full potential, the potential he always saw, and sure, Oikawa ended up hating him in the process (and maybe he was wrong about where he needed to be for that growth) but goddamn he finally did it and Ushijima could not be more excited to see him on court. Oikawa subconsciously seeking Ushijima's approval and (praise?) despite thinking they were enemies.
You can't convince me that if Ushijima looked him in the eyes and told him he was the best setter he wouldn't swoon right there and then.
I do really see the appeal of these too, especially as a more mature/adult ship, but I dont really think of them very long term. The idea of Oikawa saying "this is my boyfriend/husband" and then fcking Ushijima Wakatoshi is standing there? Insane. BUT. I do kinda see them as a queerplatonic ship, or... the evil equivalent of a queerplatonic ship? like they find in each other something nobody else can give them, a mutual understanding and respect that drives them both forward, and they grow old without ever having another significant relationship, neither get married, neither have kids, but somehow, when they're both 80, they still end up meeting in the same places, sitting down together, and talking about how much they've enjoyed their lives (together.)
I feel a little bad not at least trying to see them as a proper ship, so...
Ushijima would absolutely win carnival stuffies for Oikawa because he makes one offhanded comment about "a proper boyfriend would get me a stuffed puppy" (regarding one of the prizes) and that becomes his Most Important Mission
Oikawa really rushing to change out of uniform and sprint to the court to watch the end of the STZ team match because he knows how fucking quick those games go but he wants to see Ushijima destroy them.
Pre-relationship, when Ushijima learns Oikawa had been so truly, genuinely hurt by their rivalry, he sends him a card that is very long but basically amounts to "apologies. i had thought you found our rivalry as exhilirating as I did. I will back off." and Oikawa feels this *thump* in his chest and its just... oh no.
Overall Rating:
For me, Personal Interest: -2/10
Concept/Potential: 9/10

if i ever write a haikyuu soulmate au it would be a story where you follow someone that believes he has found his soulmate (I’m thinking probably something like hearing the same song in your head) and make the readers believe that as well until the plot twist comes and he discovers they actually aren’t “meant to be” and he was just so fascinated by the other person that he read the signs all wrong. Lots of drama and angst for sure.
The whole thing could follow two paths from there, the one he insists and the one that makes the story changes completely, honestly i can see both of them working out even if not every reader end up happy (if i had patience i would probably write both options). For this idea i think rare pairs would be the best options. Probably going with kurotsuki, ushioi or atsuhina but other pairs could work too. Sadly no time now for this but maybe someone already did it or i hope will do in the future

Title: with the ghost of you
Pairing: UshiOi / UshiTen
Word Count: 2,043
There’s an old tradition, now outdated to many, that when an alpha’s mate dies, they mute their scent. It was after all their scent that attracted their beloved so what was the point in flaring it out if their mate wasn’t there to pick up on it?
The tradition, like most do, morphed throughout the years. At first it was said the alpha’s scent was muted until the day they met their mate in the afterlife. Then it became the alpha muted it until their mourning period was over which usually lasted months before it was contained to the grieving period of for weeks. Nowadays, it’s typically muted until after the funeral and then all is back to normal.
But not with Ushijima Wakatoshi. His mate was lost in a sudden and tragic accident two years ago, leaving the alpha beside himself. His mate was the better part of every aspect of him, not only had he complimented him, but he raised him up. Everything that Ushijima ever was was because of his mate and that was all gone.
The two had been so intertwined that the alpha had no idea what his scent would even smell like without his mate’s lacing it. For as long as he could remember, their interlaced scent was his own, and despite it slowly fading away, he doesn’t want to know what his pheromones alone are like. He doesn't mind the staleness of the air around him, he long became nose blind to his mate’s pheromones, so not smelling anything doesn’t matter.
When younger, Ushijima moved after his parents divorce and for a brief time was away from his mate, but he swore the next time he saw him (in high school) he would make up for their time spent separated. And he did — he doted on the omega, gave him a perfect courtship and mating experience. To Ushi, his mate, the omega he bonded himself to for life, was his beginning and end, first and only — no one could simply ever compare. Which is why he can’t just move on like his family wants, for him there is and was only one omega, he was fine being alone.
Why was it so hard for people to understand his loss? That he never got to say goodbye, had no time or warning to come to terms with the fact he’d be losing his everything. He woke up on a regular Tuesday happily mated and went to bed a sobbing broken mess. Some tried telling Ushi it was better that way, that he didn’t have to watch his beloved deteriorate but losing the other half of your soul hurt regardless.
The alpha decided that he needed to get away from the relatives hounding him to stop mourning and find another mate. But his former mate was perfect, there would never be another one for him. Ushijima believed that true love was found once and when he gave his former mate his heart, he never intended to give it to someone else. So he went to the farmers market, a place his relatives wouldn’t go and for fresh air — it was a favorite place of his late mate as well.
The warm breezes danced across his skin as he took a deep breath. The local farmer’s market was often attended by the couple nearly every month. Afternoons spent walking around, looking at various foods and crafts, sometimes they’d even have a picnic to end the day. Someone once told the alpha to never stop dating his partner, so he made sure that bubbly excitement never left their relationship. Everyday was like the first day of their marriage; the two happily entangled within one another.
The alpha gave small smiles as he walked by tables, some knew him by name and offered him small samples — being here makes him feel closer to his mate than the tombstone did. A wind chime filled the air following a light minty scent that immediately stirred Ushi’s alpha. He looked around the stalls before seeing a brunette omega standing behind a vendor stall. His legs just moved, nearly sprinting towards the stand he’d never seen before.
Big brown eyes met his with a huge smile, “hello, would you like some honey?”
Ushi took a moment, honey was the pet name his mate called him by often but then he sees the arrangement of short glass honey jars. The stall had a soft teal sign with little bumble bee decorations — a light color wooden hexagon display houses a few jars and they’re organized by color. Though it was a simple set-up, Ushijima could see the care and detail put into it. There were doilies under the jars that had beautiful ribbon wrapped around the neck and what looked like handwritten labels, describing the type of honey it is.
There’s something warm and familiar about the brunette omega that Ushijima couldn’t help but feel drawn to.
“Oh, uh, no thank you.” He patted his pockets, “actually I ran out without my wallet.” He felt embarrassed for some reason, unsure why because he doesn’t even know them.”
”What about a sample then?” A big bright smile flashed at him and who was he to say no?
* *
That’s how the alpha found himself frequently visiting the farmer’s market every other week. At first he told himself it was simply to buy a jar to pay the omega back in a way and maybe also show he could remember his wallet. But he wasn’t there and no one really knew who Ushijima was talking about. It was a few weeks after the initial run-in when that fluffy brown hair popped back into his line of sight and he swore his heart skipped.
The omega was facing away from him, but once he turned and made eye contact with Ushi, a huge smile beamed at the alpha. A teasing banter ensued between the pair, the brunette asking if he actually had his wallet and to see it to make sure. Ushijima remarked of course he had it, he’s an alpha of his word only to temporarily panic because his wallet was in his jacket rather than his pants. Which got a laugh from the omega, it sounded angelic — like the harmonious sound that came from a wind chime in a spring breeze. To ‘apologize’ for laughing, Ushijima was given another free sample with his purchase.
Without really noticing, Ushijima found himself visiting the farmer’s market on days when he missed his mate the most or on horrible days when he felt he couldn't breathe. He goes on his own birthday because he couldn’t stand the thought of being alone after spending so many birthdays showered in love. He goes on his late mate’s birthday because he couldn’t stand the silence of it now just being a ‘regular’ day and then again on their wedding anniversary. It’s not until the brunette mentioned it that he realized what he’s done.
”I’m glad this place brings you some peace.”
”What do you mean?”
”Most days you visit, right between your brow is always wrinkled tightly, but as you walk around and talk, it loosen up and you seem to relax.”
Suddenly he felt horrible because he looked at all the days he’s wandered around the market and saw the pattern. Though the brunette never said it, the olive-haired alpha felt he’s been using the kind omega to forget his mate — that opened a whole other dilemma. How can his alpha find peace in another omega when he promised his entire life to another? They had spent most of their lives together, their scent so fused together that no one could separate the two yet his seemed swayed. He still had the courting blanket he gave his mate put inside a scent sealing memory box on his dresser so there’s a part of his mate where he could still see him.
He promised forever to one omega, one beautiful and perfect omega — he couldn’t betray them by forgetting them. But his mind often wandered to the minty omega selling homemade honey and found himself wanting to see him. His alpha was alert, a change from its more dormant stance since their omega died — actually excited about the smell of mint and honey. Almost as if it was an old friend rather than a newer scent. It calmed his alpha, excited his alpha and nearly gave his alpha a sense of peace and closure.
This time Ushi found himself at the market purposefully to see the brunette, wanting to get lost in the old comforting scent that let him feel ease. Just like every time before, fluffy hair bounced towards him, a beaming smile with that lovely scent surrounding him. His alpha crooning caused his chest to nearly vibrate with anticipation — it’d been years since he felt such jitters, not since…
He shook his head, while he still adored his late mate, something inside him finally felt okay. This brunette omega had truly helped Ushijima through his darkest days and felt more comfortable being himself again.
“Green tea and cucumbers, my favorite fragrance.” The omega says, surprising Ushijima. It sounds like a scent he remembers, but can’t quite place his finger on it. The brunette leans close, his fluffy hair tickets his jawline and he is very aware of how close the two suddenly are. “Your scent, Ushi — refreshing cucumbers with herbal-earth green tea. It’s restoring.”
Tears prick his eyes, he can smell it — his own individual pheromones without his mate mate’s. Jus this. No sweet honey. No soothing mint. No…he takes a second before it all clicks and when he looks at the omega again, he sees him.
Tooru.
His Tooru.
His heart hammers into his chest, how? How was that even possible?
”H-how…?”
”For this — to help you move on.” Tooru beams that beautiful smile at the alpha, “it’s time for you to be happy again, Toshi.”
“But you…your here and can stay…we can be happy and and —“
A bittersweet smile graces Tooru’s face, “our time was beautiful and unforgettable, but…”
“You can’t stay. Cause this isn’t real.”
”…no…no it isn’t.”
”I’ll always love you, Tooru.”
“I know and I love you endlessly, but you deserve someone to give all that love you still have to.” A warm breeze wraps around Ushijima, brushing gently against his cheek and he knows in a way it was his Tooru’s way of saying a final goodbye.
“Uh, excuse me?”
Ushijima sniffles before turning around, seeing a redhead standing behind the stand he once saw filled with honey jars.
”Here,” he holds out a cellophane bag with a homemade pastry in it, “you seem like you need a pick me up and sweets make everything better.”
“Oh?” Ushijima picks up on the spicy citrus scent of oranges and nutmeg that comes from the omega and his alpha feels giddy like he first time he saw Tooru all those years ago. “Is that so?”
The redhead’s cheeks start to burn a bright pink, averting his eyes when their fingers touch. “Doesn’t hurt to try, no?”
”No. No it doesn’t.” Ushijima smiles, looking around the booth.
There’s a sign that reads: Satori’s Sweets. Neatly labeled baskets with various desserts in each. There’s also small tags near the baskets with allergen notices and the alternative products used since sometimes there’s adverse reactions to alternatives.
“Uh— you have a uhm, nice set-up.”
Satori’s eyes light up, “thanks! I picked this spot because I was told it’s next to a very popular picnic area.”
Flashes of the many many memories he spent just five feet away from where they stood fill his mind. Ushi smiles for a moment before letting himself picture a certain redhead on one of those picnics.
”Would you like to go out some time?”
The omega seems confused for a second, the question comes out of nowhere from the man he’s literally just met. Subconsciously, cucumber and green tea start to pour out — flaring out one’s pheromones is how one finds a mate after all.
Satori takes a deep breath before humming, “I don’t go out with knot heads who don’t tell me their names.”
”I’m Ushijima Wakatoshi.”
“Tendo Satori and I’d love to.”

listen to me i just read your latest ushioi fic and oh my god you fucking get it. you get it. the whole "i need you to ruin me," and instead of fucking oikawa senseless ushijima ruins oikawa by making oikawa fall for him and making oikawa accept gentleness. you fucking understand. fhe scene with oikawa asking ushijima to have sex with him ending in oikawa having to be direct for ushijima to understand and accept. oikawa having to be honest with ushijima. oikawa pausing to actually understand him throughout the fic and once he realizes who ushijima actually is he falls instantly. you understand them. my god, you understand them. its 2 am btw i think you changed my life
You have no idea how much this means to me!!! 😭💗 Writing a ship for the first time is daunting, and I really hoped that I'd portrayed ushioi accurately, so I'm ecstatic to get this ask. Honestly, my ushioi brainrot right now is HUGE and this fic was one of the most fun writing experiences I've had, I loved it.
I do fucking understand them, thank you! Not everyone gets the amazing complexity of ushioi's dynamic, which is a shame, and I wish it wasn't a rarepair 😭 Anyway, everything you pointed out from the fic is spot-on what I wanted to convey, I love you anon 😁
Thank you so much for this!! I hope I can write them again in the future ❤️

Have you watched the Haikyuu movie? Do you enjoy it? I love it !! For me, my top fav Haikyuu ships are : KageHina, IwaOi, KuroKen, & BokuAka. (And you're Iwaoi fics are my fav until now, thanks for sharing them).
Now, can I ask your thoughts, please? Iwaoi and Kuroken are childhood friends to lovers ship, what made those 2 ships different to you? What made Iwaoi more famous? Also, what do you think of Ushijima/Oikawa and Oikawa/Kageyama ships?
Since which moment that you ship Iwaoi? What are your fav Iwaoi moments?
Sorry for my long ask, feel free if you want to answer or not.
guys with all these delicious asks you're sending in, I'm going to be stuck on my couch for the whole night...keep em coming
YES I enjoyed the dumpster battle movie, the animation was so good, the story beats and sfx and kenma's POV and idk how they managed to make a volleyball rally seem like a fight to the death but my god. I wanted to eat the movie
I think iwaoi and kuroken are different in that iwaoi are very much "equally pulling on each other's hair and spitting into each other's desserts and running after each other with a worm on a stick" type of dynamic. it makes for a very turbulent and fun pairing, and adding to that, the angst that inevitably comes along due to oikawa being so passionate about vball and iwaizumi...iwaizumi being Just Good Enough to play with him until the end of highschool. add to that the angst of oikawa being recognized as The Grand King setter, while iwaizumi always seems like a footnote. ah the childhood friend, ah the grand king's first wing spiker yes—but not his best. although iwaizumi himself has never once said he felt inadequate or left behind, you just can't help but wonder, can't help but feel it yourself, this gulf that spans the point from oikawa to iwaizumi. I don't think iwaoi is more famous in the way that means they're better, I just think it shows that people like it when things hurt hahahah
kuroken I would say is like a ball of fluff, like cotton candy, easy to swallow and easy to enjoy. or no, maybe you could say they're definitely simply just childhood friends, without all the drama that oikawa brings to iwaoi HHAHA. I wouldn't call the ship bland though, because if you peel back the layers of fluff, you rmr it's not just about quiet x loud, or small x big, or gamer x hot guy, which are labels that kuroken is often find themselves in—but that actually, kuroo has such an understated comprehension of how kenma has such a killer instinct, that kenma actually can get Serious, if you manage to get him in the zone. people will tell him kenma doesn't seem to like vball much, or that kenma seems too frail or too lax or too unsuited to exertion, and kuroo will just hum and smile like, well. if kenma didn't like it, he wouldn't do it. and that easy acceptance, that unspoken understanding that kenma never even had to tell him—somehow it just gets me. sometimes easygoing ships just hit different, when they're so comfortable with each other. like how kenma will tease kuroo with a blank-face by giving him mint candy when he knows he doesnt like mint. like they're already settled in together, what more can you say about them. also kenma being younger than kuroo is kinda cute, considering how shy kuroo was when they first met.
as for ushioi and oikage, I can definitely see where fans of those ships are coming from. I mean I once read a Yamaguchi/Oikawa fic and i rmr it being surprisingly good. the sheer amount of content, conflict and drama that oikawa brings with him to any ship is just so typical of him. of course he has to bring out the best in everyone he's matched with, that's just what a good setter does. ushioi and oikage are so rife with history and bad blood and competitiveness and hurt pride, I can only imagine how so good it is to write and read about the journey they take to make it to an end where the 2 characters are together and united. sometimes the journey fraught with strife is just as delicious as the happy ending.
I can't rmr the exact moment I started shipping iwaoi, just because it was so long ago, but prbably...I think it was probably when iwaizumi stopped oikawa from going to jail by committing manslaughter on poor little tobio when they were in middle school. and then yelling at him to go home and take care of his knee. iwaizumi's palpable concern masked as anger was so...yeah, i was like damn oikawa if you don't wife that guy up, I will.
and lastly, all iwaoi scenes are my fav, just bc we get so little, but my favs have to be the "you're a partner I can be proud of" scene; the "when oikawa feels threatened, there's only one person he sets to" scene, set up by Kageyama himself; the scene where oikawa points at iwaizumi for his last ever set in highschool and then proceeds to do an insane long ass set from across the court straight to iwaizumi: and lastly, the little sketch where iwaizumi is showing oikawa a book of fish and there's one named 'oikawa', looking so pleased with himself while oikawa is just like "..."

I wrote more Ushioi. 10k words, full of smut, and tender feelings, because that's all I write, really. Tender feeling smut.
"Call me Tooru, already. We've known each other for like, five years." "Six years," Ushijima said. Tooru's grin was involuntary. "You know because you've liked me every single one of those years." "Yes." "All this time, all this time. Even in high school." "Yes." "Even when we were at rival schools, you had a crush on me." "Yes," Ushijima said, but he whispered this one. Tooru leaned into him so that their lips nearly touched. "So you've thought about kissing me before." Ushijima nodded, bumping their noses gently together. "You've thought about fucking me before." It took a moment, but Ushijima nodded again. "Show me how you want to do it," Tooru said, and closed the distance between them again. This kiss was striking compared to the last. Cold. Slower. And when Ushijima finally spurred to action, it wasn't to push Tooru like he had before, or to sweep a tongue into his mouth, or to grab at him. Instead, he reached his hands up to hold Tooru's face, and stroked the high point of his cheek with each thumb, and inhaled the scent of him there on the street. It began to snow. They were both still a little drunk. And it was all unexpectedly tender. And real. Tooru laughed, after a second, interrupting the moment. He mumbled against Ushijima's mouth, "What're you doing?" Ushijima mumbled back, "Showing you how I'd do it."

omg sending some ships i lov tht arent necessarily standard "gotta pair em up" pairs: kenhina, kurotsukki, ushioi :3
Hii, thanks for asking!
Kenhina: Eyyyy it makes sense and it compels me!!
Kenhina is my favorite Hinata ship AND my favorite Kenma ship lol. the like sort of rivalry/obsession dynamic is really interesting. Kenma wants to study Hinata like a bug and Hinata wants to make Kenma fall in love with volleyball! So fun! They just get better as the manga goes on too, there's a lot of fun dynamics to explore with them.
I generally still don't read them as a main pairing I think, but honestly love them. Fanart especially of them is so great
Kurotsukki: Makes sense, doesn't really compel me
I read a handful of kurotsukki fics when I first started haikyuu and I enjoyed them okay—and this is probably just me not scrolling deep enough, there's great fic for every pairing somewhere—but the dynamic usually felt just off to me in fanon. Similar to Atsumu, I'm really picky about Kuroo's characterization and for whatever reason when he's paired with Tsukki rather than Kenma he often gets this bad boy vibe that I just don't see. I'm also VERY picky about Tsukki, and same thing, I found him to be idk just off in most of the kurotsukki I read.
Howeverrr talking just canon stuff and their potential, I do get it. I looooove the master and student chapters in the manga and their dynamic is really interesting. Ultimately though I think I just landed too close to canon and see them as more of like mentor/mentee and casual friends
Ushioi answered here. I'm feeling a little bad lol, a few people asked about them and I think I was harsher on them than anyone else lmao. I will say this, I'm honestly really open to different perspectives on ships and genuinely could be convinced of anything if it's done well. So feel free to drop some fic recs for them (or anyone else) and maybe I'll give em a try and potentially change my mind lol.
Send me ships!

personal complaining rant about haikyuu and hypermasc fanart--because!!! speaking exaggeratedly for fun, and because i don't think anyone's reading
i just saw very very veryvery cute sakuushi art, right after seeing some haikyuu fanart that i really do not like... thing i've realized is i think i hated a lot of the haikyuu fandom so much because, a lot of the art was very masculine LOL. it'll depend on the fandom side ofcourse... and it's not like everyone drew it like that. but i was always stupid and crazyparticular sometimes. hypermasc depictions of characters, in haikyuu fandom i reaaaally hated it. especially because my favorite was ushijima (>_>) it was over. i didn't know how to explain it back then because i was a kid and totally disconnected from that thought, i decided it was because i didn't like my fav being sexualized(complete lie lmao)
a lot of haikyuu fandom sees the boys more as love interests in like, an otome game? or something. or potential husbands. which is fair, people can do what they want... i don't care... well i do care because i hate the drawings and i hate the depictions. but this is my own problem mostly, i didn't end up aligning with most of fan's views on it. ushijima isn't my husband... (gnaws hand) i wouldn't intrude like that... he wouldn't see me like that even if i wanted him to be my wife..... and i would pale in comparison to his other suitors(is now just crazed). not only that i don't align with their shipping views either?! if i was bored by most of the main pairs the fandom decided on when i first got into haikyuu, by now i basically hate them. fuck bokuaka and fuck that one fanfic. (seethe) well actually the ship is fine, most ships are fine or would be fine if i didn't think a lot of the fanwork was atrocious about the characters lol. my art leans feminine, and most of my preferences does too. but i didn't Like the characters that fans decided was feminine like that. i didn't care for them, or i didn't even see them like that! maybe my view of what is fem/masc is a little too jumbled up, but i abide by it. fuck all of this. fuck you. and fuck ushioi. oiushi is fine. ushioi nearly made me dislike oikawa with it's sheer force. oikawa is fine actually he's funny. in fact ushijima and oikawa's relationship IS interesting... i just hate 90% of what i saw of it fanon-wise. sakuushi is precious to me, because gap moe is super. i never liked sakuatsu and i probably never will. i love atsumu but this is not where he should beee...(rolls around). it also made me despise mafia aus by instinct. im crazy but heta is kind of fresh air to me for this, so many cutesy art... so many fun art... and the source material goes with it too. if not outright cute then it's funny, which is cute itself! even if it's dark or weird it's still cute. and so much more ryona than i could ever dream of (Im So Happy). at least back then when i was more brain tied to haikyuu, there were the bunch of people who'd make more cute art. in english fandom, the cartoonish funny cuteness. i find easian fandoms get the characters down in a way i like much more most of the time tho lol. for some reason the jokes people pick up on are different? like you don't see obsessive fan shirabu in english fandom LOL. but seasian fandom does a lot of handsome ultramasc husbando haikyuu fanart(gnaws hand). that's not surprising... i know indonesians like manboobs... whatever idon't even care. i don't care. i don't.
i'm complaining so i might as well, but saddening to me when art of characters being feminine felt so limited. especially for the characters with more "masculine" bodytypes(fuck all of you). again my view of fem/masc is a little jumbled, or kind of weird so my words don't mean much here. but i never understood why characters were so limited by fans in it. if a ""masculine""(fuck you) character were to be given like, a dress, or feminine clothing, it'd be like, deliberately an outlier in some way. like for the "absurdity" of it... they'd never shut up about the absurdity too... i don't care if it's sexualization it's just really annoying to keep being like this guy is so masculine but he's wearing a dress!!! crazy right!!! look how annoyed he is scowling and jaw hard and muscles tense!!! don't you see how crazy masculine he is while in that dress!!!! i'll kill you all. characters flustered in dresses is cute. nobody understands. it's over. it's just strange to see, the only characters where anyone ever acknowledges their feminine traits are whoever people decide are twinks. the characters who isn't usually get focus on how dominant and masculine they are. No i think ushijima has feminine traits? fuck all of you. it's kind of my fault for preferring feminine things while falling in love with strong/big characters LOL. fml... not my fault the fandom's dearest chosen twinks are MID and not WIFE MATERIAL. i don't like twink atsumu miya actually but he's still a cute puppy. okay? fuck. can't we balance this out. can't a cute girlfriend who gets red in the face also work out and be professional athletes? can't tall fit girls faces get flushed confessing to you? do you hate me? why can't everyone be cute girls is it so wrong? look they're slice of life-ing isn't this so cute?!?! don't you agree that it's cute to see them eat meat buns in the snow and have puffs of breath show up?! i'll just yuribend them all. i guess
i say this but i also just never rly gravitate towards more petite or smaller characters. so. lol. and if they have a shy timid pathetic personality it makes me want to see them seme more... lol... the predicament. all the characters with aura is decided seme tch.... which makes sense... tch.. i guess... i'll accept that ame makes sense seme/uke(but i'd never ever let him or draw him seme don't get me wrong.) but i won't allow it for ushijima. im smiling at the sky. my girlfriends are so cu
but if you dig you can find fanart of them in super very cute artstyles! the core of haikyuu is volleyball fun after all. most of the time the characters behave very endearingly, rather than the super macho mafia bosses people are so insistent on. for the majority of it's runtime they're stupid teenage boys, and even after timeskip they're having good fun. they're happy and loving. i really can't stand a lot of the fanart. but if you find right you will find the best the cutest the sweetest. (my current heta twt used to be the acc i used scouring for cute haikyuu fanart and posting them LOL... i still follow some haikyuu accounts bcz of it)(korean sakuushi art!!! the absolute best!!!) ones that really understand haikyuu's cuteness. it's still a manga dear to my heart, even tho i'll avoid checking in the fandom 90% of the time.

im just gonna dump a ushioi idea running around in my head for a sec
post- "what do you think of my petty pride now" "i think it's fantastic", crazy misunderstanding ensues
Oikawa is surprised by how *nice* Ushijima is and as he reflects on the other man's past actions and current behaviour he has come to the conclusion that Ushijima probably likes him in a less than platonic sense
In Oikawa's defense, Ushijima sending him flowers whenever he won an award or just because he said he was having a couple of shitty days, asking him out to dinner whenever either of them was in town, buying him a signed jersey of one of his childhood idols for his birthday
Oikawa calls Iwaizumi up and says "so, ushijima isn't half bad." and Iwaizumi says, "yeah, he's nice" "you think so?" "yeah, he's a great guy." "really?" "oh yeah definitely." "interesting..."
So, for about let's say two to four months, Oikawa thinks Ushijima has been trying to date him and he becoming less and less opposed to the idea by the day
Until he finds out that Ushijima is Just Like That to everyone
Oikawa is LIVID. He calls Iwachan to complain about it but Iwaizumi just says, "I told you. He's nice!" "I thought you meant like he was nice for me!" "Why would he be nice for you, shittykawa?" "Fuck you!" "Oh, you've fallen for him. That's hilarious. Good luck fighting his former kouhai, Sakusa Kiyoomi, and whoever his grandmother has lined up for him for his affections. Bye."
Oikawa confronts Ushijima who is very apologetic which pisses off Oikawa more because he's very much embarassed and Ushijima doesn't seem fazed at all, like this happens to him ALL THE TIME. Ushijima says it does.
Oikawa questions why he acts the way he does because that's not normal! Ushijima replies, - "I saw an article in a magazine where it list down ways to make others like you. I just followed that." "Jesus Christ Ushibaka, you're a bigger idiot than I thought. Unfortunately, I'm still very attracted to you." "Excuse me?"
Oikawa says that he doesn't treat everyone the way he treats Ushijima. Ushijima is secretly delighted
Oikawa asks him out and then they finally go on their first date ever.
The end???
