Someone wrote about the choice of lizard in the Fontaines D.C music video featuring Ewan Mitchell (In the Modern World) in the tags of one of my posts and i've been kinda of crazy about this topic for a while so i'm going to share with you guys...

First of all i think it's absolutely on purpose because Luna Carmoon seems like a reptile girlie who knows a lot about it!

Now comes my theories and yapping: the blue tongued skink has a blue tongue as a method of fooling predators into thinking it's poisonous (it's actually very docile, domesticated and tries to avoid fights with other species) and Martin (Ewan's character) has a blue tongue as well in the music vídeo:

There's this part in the song lyrics "In the modern world I don't feel anything in the modern world I don't feel bad" that stuck with me and the whole music video has this atmosphere of hopelessness? like you feel so numb that you desperately want to feel something.

Martin is doing the car-jitsu to stop the numbness he feels inside through physical pain. He's sticking his tongue out while one of these car-jitsu fights, he's (metaphorically) trying to fool his opponents into thinking he's stronger than he really is?

His real opponent is himself and his inner battles?

(The music video like the song itself is subjective and there is no "right" answer, but I love rambling on about it!)
