Hot..it's too hot…

I ran through an old boiler room. Steam poured from the rusted pipes through their cracks as they hissed. Every turn I took it looked the same. A red light was the only thing lighting the way around but it did not help. The room seemed to make dead ends suddenly appear or make the turnings feel like never ending corridors. The sudden sound of laughter made my blood run cold when I reached yet another dead end. I turned around and saw the figure of my chaser. He was dressed in black shoes, black pants and a red and black jumper with holes scattered through it. Black hair and cat-like eyes. His smile was so sinister it was terrifying.

"You lasted a lot longer than some sweetheart. I must say I'm impressed and that you've been a fun one to play with." His voice high pitched with excitement as he moved closer, metal claws of his hand piece scraping at the walls.

"You're not real. You're not real. Fuck off you're not real." I chanted to myself, this made him laugh more. His eyes were dark as he watched my trembling body. It happened quickly. The swish of the blades coming towards me, cutting through my thin shirt and catching my skin, weren't deep enough to cause much harm but enough to make me cry out in pain as the blood poured from the wounds.

"I'm as real as your wounds will be in the morning." He hummed. "Think of me when you see them." I didn't realize how close he truly was until I felt his breath on the shell of my ear making me whimper. "Look at them and say my name.."

Nana woke up jolting up right in her cabin bed, sweat clung to her skin and there was stinging on her chest. She immediately looked down and her body tensed. Her shirt was ripped and bloody and she felt like her heart had fallen into her stomach. Her brain kept screaming a name she does not remember hearing in her lifetime. Hanse her brain wanted to say but she refused to let the name fall from her lips..but how was it possible. Nana quickly discarded the shirt and hid it before taking her morning shower. Brain not fully awake to make up justifiable explanations as to how the wounds from her dreams are now on her body.

She treated the wounds with care and patched them up. The good thing about taking a summer job at a summer camp was the free first aid training in case any of the children needed it. She put on her uniform and took a deep breath. Out of sight out of mind. A sudden knock on her door caused her to jump out of her peaceful mindframe. 

"Coffee delivery!" The smoothing voice on the other side calmed her immediately. She opened the door and was graced by the warm smile of her longest friend Sangyeon. Nana will admit, he was charming and attractive, from his warm smile to his gentle eyes to his toned tanned body, she could see while all the female camp workers had all made it their goal to bed him during their time here.

"Did you get it right this time?" Nana teased getting an eye roll from the taller man. 

"I forgot the caramel once in your latte and you never let me live it down. Not that it matters, you still drank it." He chuckled as he allowed her to lock up my cabin before he handed the paper cup to her.

"I only drank it because you gave it to me and I care about bruising your ego." 

"Well aren't I lucky." Sangyeon chuckled. "What activity have they put you on today?" 

"Archery…don't laugh!" She pouted at Sangyeon's snorted at her. She actually quite liked the activity. 

"Sorry but you don't exactly have the best aim." It was Nana's turn to roll her eyes this time.

"Sorry Mr. Perfect but not everyone is born with the sports talent you were." Her voice dripped with sarcasm. "And besides it has gotten better. I'm not accidentally aiming at the lake anymore and hitting the target. And the kids enjoy it, that's what I'm getting paid for."

"Fair point…and later you're coming for drinks at the workers lodge right?" Nana wrinkled her nose, it's not that she doesn't like to drink, she does, but drinking when the kids could need help at any moment made her uneasy.

"I Don't Know Sang.." Sangyeon sighed at her response.

"Nana, you skipped it last night and the night before. Come on loosen up a little. Yes we're working but this is our summer too."

"Yeah but.."

"Jacob and wooyoung both said they will parole tonight. If the kids need any help you know those two are the best ones for them to go to." 

"I suppose…fine fine I'll come." 

"Great, we can go together." He smiled. "It will be fun I promise." 

"It better be or else I'm dunking your head in the beer barrel Haknyeon managed to sneak in." She laughed, causing him to smile brightly.

"Deal."

The day went well for Nana, seeing the kids having fun seemed to make the morning feel like a distant memory to her, though there was an unsettling feeling in her stomach she couldn't fully ignore. Even after she knew all the kids were tucked up in her bunk for the nights.

Sangyeon kept to his word about going to the workers lodge together. Dressed in shorts and a black tank top that showed his muscular arms. 

"Showing off are you?" Sangyeon blushed at that.

"Of course not. It's really warm tonight." He said shyly. "Like you're in shorts and a crop top, who are you trying to get the attention of, hm?" 

"No one, I'm not the one with a line of people wanting to bone me." 

"That's not-"

"Sangyeon."

"Okay a little bit true."

"Thank you." They laughed, everything seeming normal before a scream stopped them in their tracks. "What the fuck was that?" Their legs seemed to walk them in the direction of the screams. There was a crowd of people, shocked and terrified.

"Nana hold on…" she didn't wait, pushing through the crowd and freezing at the sight. There laying at the base of an old oak tree..was Jacob. It was a mess, big wounds at least three or four that poured blood around his body while some spilled from his mouth. It was a sight straight out of a horror movie. 

Nana didn't understand, she just saw him not long ago helping one of the cry babies settle down for the night…how did he end up fucking dead.

"Everyone get to the cabin…the police are on the way." One of the head workers said, as calm as he could but his eyes never leaving the horror that was Jacob's body.

Nana could have sworn she saw a tall figure out in the distance in the woods quickly hiding among the trees. Or maybe she's in too much shock that she's seeing things. But there is one thing she is sure of.

Jacob is dead and something or someone at this camp is a murderer.

“This is such a workout,” a tired Hanse huffed, setting the bags of groceries down on your kitchen counter. He shrugged off his coat and placed it on the hanger. You presented him with a glass of water. He gave you a sweet smile. “Thank you, my love,” he said.

You blew him a kiss. “Anything for my husband.”

Hanse sighed. “Hearing you say that makes me so happy,” he offered you his hand, which you took. He grabbed your hand tight and softly stroked the back of your palm with his thumb, eyes sparkling as they admired the equally stunning ring on your finger. “I almost still can’t believe it,” he shook his head, chuckling.

“It’s real, babe,” you breathed, staring at the beautiful man you’d just married a month ago. After the wedding he’d decided to grow his hair out again, just like when you were dating, you were so in love with the black curtains that framed his handsome face, cascaded over his eyes and tickled you whenever you two cuddled. “I’m so lucky.”

Your husband brought your hand to his lips and kissed it. The cool metal of his lip piercing touched your skin and you relished the feeling. Hanse let go and made his way over to the counter, where the bags of groceries lay waiting. “Alright, here comes the shitty part,” he dramatically rolled up his sleeves as if he were about to do the world’s hardest construction job. You laughed. Hanse really hated unpacking groceries.

“I’ll help you, my poor, poor angel,” you smirked, going over to assist. He grinned in appreciation. As you two started to unload the bags, you talked to him about your day and complained about your annoying co-workers. He told you about new ideas he had for songs and excitedly mentioned the adorable stray cat he saw outside the supermarket.

To your delight, Hanse had surprised you and bought you your absolute favorite snacks. He always picked up goodies for you without you asking -- he was sweet like that. Soon enough, the bags were empty and the fridge was full. Hanse came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist, placing a big kiss on your cheek. “Wanna watch something?”

“Did you get eggs?”

“What?”

“Remember how I was gonna make omurice tonight? And eggs were the only thing we really needed from the supermarket?”

“Did I really not get them?” He pouted, rushing over to the fridge to peer inside and check. You stifled a giggle as you waited. Hanse turned around with a sheepish smile. “Ahh…I’m so sorry, babe.”

You shook your head. “Looks like someone has to make me a five-star dinner tonight.”

“Babe,” Hanse whined in a bratty tone that made you burst out laughing.

“I’m joking,” you shushed him, hugging him tight. “I’ll figure something out.”

“Ice cream for dinner, maybe?”

“Yes, thank you for getting, like, three entire tubs that we definitely need.”

“Hey, I remembered all your favorite flavors. Just trying to be the best husband ever.”

You gazed up at him, and he was looking at you with the most loving eyes. Your heart fluttered in your chest just like when you had said ‘I do’. “You’re doing just fine with that, love, trust me,” you told him.

Hanse leaned down and kissed the top of your head. “Well, I want to be excellent at it. Amazing. Incredible, even.”

You smiled and rolled your eyes at your husband. “Okay, you can start by letting me pick the movie right now.”

He chuckled. “Always driving a hard bargain. As you wish, sweetheart,” Hanse went over to the snack drawer to get out some popcorn. “But no more of those sappy rom-coms, please, we’ve seen too many.”

“What happened to letting me pick?” You tutted at him playfully, hands on your hips and pretending to be angry.

Hanse laughed. “Forgive me, darling. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“I think we should get a couple of kittens.”

“We’ll talk about this later, Hanse.”

“You always say that.”

“I’m already having to take care of one little creature.”

“Ha-ha. Go wait for me on the couch.”

You had just gotten out of work and the second you got home, you stripped yourself of your awful work clothes and threw on the comfiest shirt you could find. Who cares if it happened to be your exes? You had zero plans of ever giving it back to him.

You throw on some music and begin searching your kitchen for something to eat, rifling through cupboards until something catches your eye. It didn't take long for the music to take over your body, and soon, you are having your own little dance party.

You spin around in the kitchen, dancing like there's no tomorrow until a dark image catches your eye. You stop spinning and grab the counter for support as a slight wave of dizziness hits you.

You roll your eyes and come around the corner. "What're you doing here?"

He plays with his lip ring as his eyes trail down your pantless body. A part of you feels like you should cover yourself, but Hanse has seen you naked dozens of times already, so screw it.

"Hellooo? Why are you here?" You repeat when he doesn't answer you.

He starts walking up to you, checking you out the entire way. "I came here for one thing... but now I want something else entirely..."

You search his dark gaze as he backs you into the counter, loving every second of this cat and mouse game he liked to play. He presses against you until you feel his hips hit yours and a whimper escapes you.

"Who said I wanted -"

His lips capture yours, effectively cutting you off. You throw your arms around his neck as he leans down and taps your legs twice, telling you to jump up. He places you up on the counter and deepens the kiss, already driving you crazy. You sigh with happiness at this new weekly occurrence the two of you have fallen into.

You frowned, the messages you sent in the morning were yet to be seen let alone answered. Was he busy? Asleep? Did he leave his phone at home by any chance? Multiple questions kept on crossing your mind. His phone is probably switched off, maybe he ran out of battery..

What if he’s not answering on purpose? 

Your heart sank. Could it be possible that Hanse was ignoring you? Come to think of it, he has been a bit distant for a good while but you had brushed it off as tiredness and exhaustion.  Convincing yourself that everything was alright and that you were just overthinking and being insecure, you got up and decided to go out and buy some groceries you were running low on.

Hands in your pocket, you walked on the footpath, halfway to the grocery store. Your mind was still tantalizing you with scenarios from his phone with a dead battery to him cheating on you. You shook your head, disappointed in yourself for even thinking of such thinking. Hanse would never do it, would he? He was not the person to stoop so low. 

He was definitely a person who would rather tell you the truth and break things off then date the person he fell for rather than betraying you. You played these words in your mind, your trust not faltering. You looked ahead and saw the cafe where you had your first date him, drawing nearer. 

The fond memory lit a smile on your face. Your head automatically turned to peer in; the interior now redecorated and looking much better and quaint than before. Your steps faltered. Not because of the memory of the first of your many dates with Hanse, not even because of the changed brought in.

There he was. The person whom you trusted. The person you have been loving for the past year. Hanse was sitting across a girl you recognized his former lover. You thought better than to jump to conclusions no matter how much you tried, the hurt kept on increasing. 

You saw Hanse kissing her knuckles. The smile on his face was far wider and brighter than when he was you. You choked back a sob and turned around as the first tear escaped your eyes and trickled down. You couldn’t hold it back anymore. 

Taking quick steps, you made your way back to your home. Throwing your coat to god know where, you fell on to your bed and cried yourself to sleep, heart stuck in your throat, giving you trouble breathing. Your head was hurting, body trembling and heart crushing. the one thing you force yourself not to think ended up being real.

You woke up to someone’s frantic whispers and your body being jolted desperately. Sitting up and adjusting to the light, your eyes fell on a worried Hanse staring right back at you. You opened your mouth to greet him when images of him with his ex replayed in your mind and you violently shook his hand off your arm.

“Get out” your voice was nothing above a whisper. You were drained. Drained emotionally, mentally and physically. “What?” Hanse was clearly taken aback by your hostile reaction. “I saw you..you were with her” your voice broke. “Do I mean nothing to you? Am I not enough for you?” you cried, hitting him with your pillow as you broke into sobs, crying your heart out. 

Your hits got weaker and weaker until you gave up. “When...when did you find out?” Hanse asked cautiously, unable to look you in the eyes. “You’re worried about that?” you cried out incredulously at Hanse’s priorities. “

“I did nothing but love you, put you and your happiness before me. I trusted you with my heart and my everything. I tried to be the best partner I could be and you threw all that just like that!?” you hit his chest, the tears now coming back. Your eyes were red and the headache was getting worse.

“I’m sor-” 

“Don’t” you glared at him. Your feelings were all over the place. Hatred, betrayal, hurt and love. They were too much for you. “Don’t you dare say you’re sorry” 

“You’re not sorry that you cheated on me. You’re sorry that you were caught cheating.” your voice was wavering with anger and sadness. “Was I a rebound? I was, wasn’t I?” you laughed at yourself. “I’m pathetic..thinking that I ws being loved by you. For dreaming of a future with you. I can’t believe I fell for someone like you “

“Y/N, listen to me please” he finally spoke up after a couple of minutes of silence. “I know I shouldn’t have done this. I fucked up big time. I didn’t mean to hurt you and I-” you raised your hand, cutting him off.

“Are you hearing yourself!?/ Are you fucking hearing yourself right now?! What do you mean you didn’t want to hurt me?” you cried out, finding him ridiculous. “For fucks sake, Hanse!! You cheated on me! How can cheating not hurt the other person!?” you shouted. You grabbed the nearest thing which happened to be a crystal ornament on the dressing table and hurled it against the wall. It shattered and the pieces scattered all over the floor, the light reflecting off them.

“Get . The . Fuck . Out” you breathed heavily. “Y/N I’m so-” he tried to apologize again. “DIDN’T YOU HEAR ME!?? GET OUT!” you shouted, pushing him out of the room. You ignored his attempts at apologizing and talking to you. Done with the bullshit. Done with him. 

You locked the door and slid down against the door, head between your knees. You finally accepted the events of the day; the person you loved the most betrayed you. The relationship you cherished and gave your everything to, finished in a matter of minutes. The fond memories now bittersweet. The other side of the bed that would be warm every night now cold and empty.

He simply likes to make sure that you’re alright more than anything else, Hanse wouldn’t exactly like to think of himself as paying attention, more that he just cares and wants to make sure that you’re doing fine.

Like any pair of best friends, the two of you definitely have your moments when you bicker, usually when you think that you’re both right. You liked to try and prove to Hanse that he was in the wrong, but he thought that you were wrong too and so he’d try and talk over you, getting louder and louder at each other.

Whenever he’s cheering you up, Hanse will always try his best to be positive and try and find the good in things. He’s never down and gloomy as he worries that it’ll only make you feel worse, instead he’s optimistic in trying to come up with some solutions that will hopefully be able to help you out.

If something doesn’t get agreed upon quickly, that’s usually when an argument tends to occur between the two of you. Hanse tends to want you to make your mind up quite a lot, his patience doesn’t always extend for as long as it could. He doesn’t like to be the one to decide, so when he’s waiting for you to decide, he wants you to make up your mind pretty quickly and stop him standing around waiting.

There were plenty of conversations when the two of you first met, you found yourselves talking about a whole world of things which quickly led you to start learning plenty of things about one another. You tried your best to remember the things that you learnt about each other mostly so that you could impress the other person when you were able to recall a piece of information that they had told you.

Hanse’s family treated you incredibly well, mainly because they were constantly hearing good things about you from Hanse and knowing that you were taking care of him. He told them all of the good things that you did for him and all of the funny stories that you had from your friendship which often tickled his family too. Hearing so much left them as huge fans of yours, especially as Hanse was your biggest fan too.

Whatever the two of you want to do when you hang out, Hanse will make sure that you do it. He doesn’t care how hectic it is, who might be around, or how careful he’s got to be about his condition, if there’s something that you want to do or somewhere that you want to go, he pulls through every time.

The two of you had a habit of knowing exactly when the other person was lying to you, you knew each other far too well for the other to try and convince you that they were feeling alright, or perhaps that they weren’t the one that was responsible for a prank, when you definitely knew otherwise.

Most of your inside jokes were used as blackmail, you loved trying to get your own way by threatening to share an embarrassing story or too that you had about Hanse. If Hanse wanted to try and embarrass you in front of the boys, you’d only have to mention one of your stories for him to quickly go quiet again.

It’s an obvious sign whenever Hanse get jealous that he goes very quiet and observes a lot of what’s going on rather than saying anything and getting involved in conversation. If someone is making him jealous, he’ll watch them closely and wait until he can catch them out by saying something or do something that will send a clear message that they’re not your best friend, and that he is in fact your best friend.

Hanse got a kick out of making you cringe, usually using aegyo to try and embarrass you and leave you squirming as you watched him. He knows just like the boys it’s something that you hate to see him doing, and so he uses that against you whenever he can as he knows it’s a guarantee that you’ll react to him.

He loved how well the two of you knew each other, which ultimately made being friends together one of the easiest jobs in the world. You knew what each other liked and disliked, how they’d react to things, and how they’d behave in certain situations so the two of you were always prepared. You could probably write books on each other with how well you knew one another, even the finest of details too.

M ⇴ MEETING

The two of you first met when you were working at the coffee shop just beside the company building. There had been a few conversations between you and Hanse when he stopped by, but eventually he decided to ask you for your number and see if you wanted to hang out properly sometime with him.

He completely let go when he was around you, it was one of Hanse’s favourite things about being around you, how easy it was for him to just relax and go about his day without a single care in the world.

Hanse was obsessed with how close the two of you were, everyone knew that when you were together you were pretty inseparable, if one of you wasn’t around, it was always asked whereabouts you were.

The times that meant the most to Hanse were the times when he could just be himself around you, Hanse loved that he never had to be an idol or follow certain rules when he was around you. Especially when his schedule had been particularly busy, just feeling human around you again was a huge deal to him.

It took a lot for Hanse to ever really ask you outright for help, and so when he did, you knew just how much he meant it and how desperate he was for you to step in and let him rely on you for a little while.

You’d spent many nights together designing the perfect thing that would be representative of your friendship and the various things that you’d done together over the years.

There was always an extra spring in Hanse’s step on stage whenever he knew that you were in the crowd and watching him, his motivation skyrocketing whenever he saw you there. He loved performing in front of the group’s fans but seeing such a familiar face in the crowd gave him an extra reason to go for it.

Whenever he went out on the road, Hanse loved to try and bring you along with him and the group. He loved being able to take you around the world and have experiences that no one else would be able to give you.

i see him getting a little angry tbh. i think he would find it unfair that you won't tell him what's wrong, and it'll frustrate him because he just wants to make everything okay. if it's his fault, then he's mad at himself, and ultimately will try not to bother you unless you want him to. he might even give you the silent treatment right back.

You waited for almost half hour, and then he finally cross the door "Did I wake you up? I'm sorry" "I was already up" He sat in bed and took off his shirt, you immediately rush to the bathroom to bring his skin care products "Let me do it" You said when he tried to take off the cotton pad from you, he hold your waist the whole time until you were done, then pull you closer and kiss you gently "You're so good to me. You were getting ready for bed when found him at the changing room, sitting with eyes closed and a face towel on his hand. You giggle a little before walking in and take off the towel from his hands, he wakes up with a jump "Want some help with that?" That night, when you came home, he was already sleeping in the couch, you went to the bathroom to brush your teeths and clean your makeup and only then remember seeing his face full of makeup, didn't think about it twice. Tried your best to clean his makeup and still let him sleep, fight the eyeshadow for a while and right when you were about to finish he woke up "What are you doing" He mumble, or at least that's what you understood amid his sleepy voice "Taking you to bed, love" For a moment you felt proud of being capable to finish your duty before disturbing his dream "And you needed to scratch my whole face for that?" You blushed not sure what to say "Just kidding, I know. You didn't have to. Thank you so much" He kissed both of your cheeks and made his way to the bedroom feeling madly in love with you and your kindness.

He had been quite for a few days so you already know something wrong was happening when he came home that night and didn't make it to bed. "What are you doing here, beauty?" You glare at your husband with pure anger. Of course, he was willing to risk your life. The two of you barely liked each other as it was. You're sure he is just biding his time before he can get rid of you.

"I promise I'll protect you."

You roll your eyes at his words. Not believing for one second in his promise. "Yeah, sure. Protect me like single-digit sunscreen."

You shakily wipe at the tight clothing you are wearing and blow out a deep breath. Before you can step out into the street, however, a hand stops you. You look back at Hanse and see the confidence he has in you beaming in his eyes.

"You can do this. You're a badass, and don't you dare think otherwise." He admits to you with a determination that shocks you.

You and Hanse may not get along, and he was more ruthless than anything, but you could tell he believed you could do this, and strangely, that was enough for you.

[3:30 p.m.] "oh my god, what happened with the heater of this place? it's so cold, i'm gonna freeze," you whine, pressing your arms crossed against your trembling body.

hanse also has his arms wrapped around you, trying to get you both warm in the auditorium. there's an important lecture happening, but you can't focus because of the sudden freezing air coming your way after the heater in your area broke.

"i think i have a scarf in my bag, wait a second," he says. you feel even colder after he lets go of you.

"oh, no."

"what is it?"

"the scarf is bigger than i remember? look at this."

he unfolds the fabric that looks more like a bed sheet. probably because the seam had come unbound and hanse didn't notice in time to fix it.

"well, now we can get real warm." you try to hold a laugh.

"a blessing in disguise." hanse wiggles his eyebrows and covers your bodies with the now large fabric. the relieve comes right away.

hanse's body is warm and comfortable against yours. finally you can pay attention to the lecture in peace again.
