Thank you for the tag, @pauls1967moustache! My heart is in my fiction, and I'm happy to talk about a bit. <3
How many works do you have on ao3?
15! All within the Beatles fandom (various pairings, but with a focus on J/P).
What’s your total word count?
95,825.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In John's Lap (early days mclennon), play me one of yours (early days, Jim POV on J/P), Brian Manages (Sole Direction) (1968; Brian lives AU/Fix it, mclennon from Brian POV), Serenade in Paul (PWP mclennon), I was the dream weaver (1968/1969 breakup, angst; John POV)
Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I do. I deeply appreciate it when people take the time to let me know their thoughts, or simply that they liked my story—and replying feels like completing a handshake.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Probably I was the dream weaver—there is some hope in the end, but it's a small flame in a dark night. But the love is there.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I think Brian Manages, which is only appropriate, since it's a Secret Santa gift (2023). Yes, the story is about saving Lennon/McCartney, but it's mainly about Brian, and it was important to me to give him a happy ending as well. And, of course, Eyes of the Storm: John goes to a private opening of Paul’s EYES OF THE STORM exhibition to meet with Paul, who, after many years and many ups and downs, is still his lover, and his favorite collaborator. Shameless wish fulfillment fic: John lives, everyone lives…and everyone is there.
Do you write crossovers?
Not yet, but I would love to one day! I can't think of any, though...
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not yet.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do write smut, and I think I tend to write smut with feelings. No specific kinks yet, except...Paul's leg fur and body hair. And his entire spritely gestalt.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware. Brrr.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not that I'm aware.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, twice, with @ohjohnnysblog. Thank you, OJ, for holding my hand during my very first fic, Storage Space, and for coming back for Serenade in Paul!
What's your all-time favourite ship?
I'm probably mainly a John/Paul fan, but I have a soft spot for Paul/Mal, and actually enjoy Paul/ any male Beatles-adjacent character, or Paul in a threesome...
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I am determined—*determined!*—to finish my story about Old Man Paul releasing his mclennon dreams/memories on the world. I'm also determined to write a long Woodland Sprite Paul AU. One day.
What are your writing strengths?
I swear I'm not fishing for compliments, but I honestly can't say. I don't hate my writing, I'm just reluctant to analyze myself that way, you know. But if I had to pick one: I think I have the ability to remember, out of all the Beatles stuff I read and saw and thought about, the right detail at the right time while writing. Not as in listing facts, but as in: this would fit nicely here.
What are your writing weaknesses?
English isn't my first language, which in the context of Beatles fic means I'm not your best choice if you're looking for realistic Liverpool dialogue to leap off the page. I wish I had Paul's talent for mimicry...!
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
People can do what they want, but if there's entire pages in a language I can't read, and no footnotes to help me, the story isn't for me. Individual words and phrases are a different thing, of course.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
This one! Beatles! McLennon! Paul, you were my first, and I was your billionth!
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
Breaking news, I think I might try my hand at Peaky Blinders at some point...
What's your favourite fic you've written?
Similar to you, Mo, I love all of mine equally, but I have special love in my heart for the fic that lifted me out of a spell of the writing horrors this fall: Johnny Gentle and His Group, about the Silver Beetles' 1960 Scottish Tour. And, of course, Hurricaneville: leg combing McLennon in 1961!
Tagging, if you’d like @eveepe, @revollver, @m1ssunderstanding, @unchaineddaisychain , @therealsaintscully and @scurator!
#asks#my fic#writing#my navel isn't as furry and soft as Paul's but it was fun to gaze at it nevertheless!#mclennon fanfiction#mclennon

This Is Not Here exhibition in Syracuse, October 1971
The whole story in a nutshell is that we were having a meeting in 1969, and John showed up and said he’d met this guy Allen Klein, who had promised Yoko an exhibition in Syracuse, and then matter-of-factly John told us he was leaving the band. That’s basically how it happened. It was three to one because the other two went with John, so it was looking like Allen Klein was going to own our entire Beatles empire. I was not too keen on that idea.
(Paul McCartney, The Lyrics, 2021, about Too Many People)
Ram (piss off cake, that was your first mistake and whatever John heard) released 17 May 1971 Imagine (with HDYS?) released 9 September 1971 (US) and 8 October in UK
This Is Not Here Press Conference at Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY (October 8, 1971)
Q: What do you think of Paul, John? A: I’ve changed, you know, he’s still the closest friend I’ve ever had except for Yoko. So I mean I’m still close to him whatever goes on.
On 9 October 1971, John Lennon’s 31st birthday, a retrospective exhibition of artworks by Yoko Ono opened at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York.
The show looked back over 10 years of her career, and was billed as “A show of unfinished paintings and sculpture”. It ran until 27 October 1971.
The exhibition catalogue took the form of a collage in the shape of a newspaper, and was compiled by Lennon and Peter Bendry. The back cover featured a sequence of photographs of Lennon and Ono which morphed their faces from one to another. The sequence was later used on the labels for ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ and Some Time In New York City.
Guests for the opening night included Ringo Starr and his wife Maureen Starkey, Allen Klein, Phil Spector, Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, Frank Zappa, Spike Milligan, Jack Nicholson, Dick Cavett, John Cage and Dennis Hopper. Lennon gave all visitors a silver necklace to mark the occasion. (x)
This Is Not Here
The main title “This is Not Here” recalls an experience during a gallery show in 1961, at which an ugly cabinet that was interfering with the exhibition space was tagged “this is not here,” in the spirit of Magritte’s famous painted image “Ceci n’est pas une pipe.” <…> The ground floor of the museum housed pieces like Painting to Shake Hands Through, Painting to Let the Evening Light Go Through, and a clear plexiglass labyrinth called Amaze, whose central cubicle was a two-way mirror-walled chamber containing a toilet! Although it is not a very difficult puzzle, the structure forces you to take part in a Conceptual event by making you arrive at something as familiar as a toilet. <…> A number of pieces in the show reiterate the theme of small, diverse parts in relation to a larger, cumulative unity. <…> Sizes (1964), a transparent box with mirrors and lenses embedded in its sides, converts the same needle into six different sizes; while Shadows encloses objects with different silhouettes, all casting shadows of the same size and shape. It is intended that Broken Vase Piece will be reassembled in ten years by those who gathered its shattered fragments.8 Film No. 4 (365 naked British bottoms, recorded as peace petition signatures in London, in 1968) is a bizarrely hypnotic and fixed-camera view of that number of moving buttocks. Of course, 365 units of anything could have been employed just as easily—days in a year, degrees of rotation around one’s head, stars, leaves, etc.—to demonstrate that although everything is an individual entity, sheer accumulation has the effect of dissolving the unique into the universal. <…> The second floor contained imaginary pieces such as those in the Weight Room, in which objects defied their normal density or gravity factors when lifted; indications like “imagine flowers in the (empty) museum planters”; and some cooperative pieces where John Lennon responded to older works of Yoko’s like an amiable Zen dialogue. Water Room was a collection of projects contributed by guests, to which the artist had promised to add only the water. (In its final stages, it turned out to be Conceptual, rather than actual water.) <…> During the month that the Everson show was in progress, WNET, Channel 13, aired an hour of Yoko Ono’s work on its Free Time series, October 14th. The program was largely excerpts from past pieces: Grapefruit in the World of Park (mind music), film shorts, Think/Feel/And/Do/Tank, Bag Piece, or Fly performed by John Lennon and others, and several events and paintings.
(“This Is Not Here” - A Report on the Yoko Ono Retrospective at Syracuse by Emily Wasserman, January 1972)
Much of the show consisted of Miss Ono's ephemeral concepts and word ‐ plays given slightly less fragile embodiment, A huge letter “T” made of ice melted in an outdoor courtyard„ for instance (“Iced Tea”), and indoors there were such objects as “Painting to Let the Evening Light Go Through,” a clear Plexigiass sheet that Mr. Lennon said was his favorite work; “Imagine the Flowers,” a row of empty flower pots, and “Cloud Piece,” a water bed on which the viewer could “lie down and watch until a cloud passes from right to left.” “Total communication can mean peace,” declared Miss Ono, clad in a black velvet hotpants suit, at a preview of the show on Friday. “The artist can change the world and values in the world.” Stressing the importance of viewer participation in her work, she said, “We're all audience and we're all artists. You're all involved.” (Before the press preview was over, there was a good deal of participation: the apple was eaten to its core, a Venetian vase sent by Peggy Guggenheim as a “watercontainer” was smashed, and an antique eyeglas case and a set of false teeth were missing from their vitrines.) Modestly insisting that his role in the show was subordinate to Miss Ono's, Mr. Lennon, whose 31st birthday was marked by the show's opening, explained, “She thinks up beautiful pure concept things, and I come up with a gimmicky reaction.” For his guest stint, he contributed such works as a wardrobe of edible clothes, and a number of films and pieces “in dialogue” with Miss Ono, among them a huge “Baby Grand Guitar” next to which she had placed only the neck of another guitar and the legend, “Imagine the body.”
(The New York Times, October 11, 1971)
John and the guests of his birthday party drunkly sang many old and new songs including What’d I Say, Yellow Submarine, Goodnight Irene, Take This Hammer, He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands, Bring It On Home To Me, Yesterday, Maybe Baby, Peggy Sue, My Baby Left Me, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Crippled Inside and Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
Also during the party, a Japanese reporter interviewed Lennon and Ono. The recording, which featured a high degree of tension between the couple, became known as The Argument Interview, and was later aired on the US radio series The Lost Lennon Tapes. (x)
In the fall of 1971 Connolly travelled to the US to cover Yoko’s show in Syracuse. During this trip, John pulled Ray aside and asked him to do him a favor. He asked Ray to get in touch with Paul when he was back in London — with a message to call him. Apparently John wanted to talk to Paul and he believed if he called Paul himself it would devolve into a screaming match. Ray did as requested when he returned to London. He went to Paul’s home and though he wasn’t able to connect with Paul, he did leave him a message in his letterbox. When he followed up a few days later, it was Jim McCartney that answered the phone and he shut Ray down, telling Ray not to get involved, that things had moved on.

do you know of any similar blogs to your own that analyses artists styles and animation and talks about it?
Blogs exactly the same as mine don't come to mind but I do follow some quality animation stuff. Regarding this blog I'm in a weird space between fandom posting and more or less accurate technical blabla + curated showcase of stuff I like and fancontent and while I don't know people with that same combo I do know people who share elements with that.
For animation:
@you-should-care-about-animation is run by @beatle-07 and regularly showcases some lesser known animated films, some of which are available for free online, by sharing screencaps/gifs/videos. the blogger is also an animanga fan who'll share extremely cool fanart and posts her own.
@animatejournal posts short clips of animated series/films with a huge variety of time periods, countries of origins and techniques showcased.
@sakugabooru and the site by the same name publish anime-related things: anime history, artist interviews, technical and historical information...
@ca-tsuka is a must follow for animation news, although I'd recommend their website over their blog.
Not on tumblr but the Animation Obsessive newsletter project is amazing. Similarly, fullfrontal.moe for anime stuff. They both have rly well researched articles about many animation things.
For comics:
@mangacapsaicin posts high quality caps of lesser known manga. Likely my favorite manga blog on this platform. If you want to read obscure stuff, @deadscanlations is real good
@manga-and-stuff for caps + artbook scans
A few select individual users:
@meruz is a lovely person and animation professional who shares their work both pro and personal
@kojad one of my favorite artists i found online period, who is an animator
for comic artists: @slaviiik @turndecassette2 @simon-roy @jayrockin @plaest2k come to mind. many comic artists and animators have a tumblr - check your favorites!
my "art" tag on this blog is a quick way to check out all fanart i share, like a gallery of curated fanworks :)

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you @nirikeehan and @theluckywizard for tagging me! I think I did this a couple years ago, so it's worth doing again even though I doubt my answers have likely changed... lol.
(Under a cut because it gets a bit long with formatting.)
How many works do you have on AO3? 27!
What's your total AO3 word count? 66, 314 words
What fandoms do you write for? Currently Dragon Age, beginning to consider branching into The Terror (but the latter is mainly just art for now).
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? The Tang of Liquor On His Tongue (Dragon Age; Dorian/Male Trevelyan smut) The Dreamer Sets the Rules (Dragon Age; Solas/Male Trevelyan & Solas/Fade Spirit) mala suledin nadas (Dragon Age; Solas/Male Trevelyan) Impetus (Dragon Age; Cassandra/Male Trevelyan smut) Smut Challenge 2: War Table Boogaloo (Dragon Age; Cassandra/Male Trevelyan smut)
Do you respond to comments? I try really hard to! I fell behind for a period of time and got really anxious about it and have been slowly trying to catch up starting mainly with more recent comments.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I suppose it might be Lathbora Viran since even though it's more of an implied/hinted at event instead of outright stated, the fic ends with Curiosity (the reborn spirit of Wisdom) becoming the Regret demon from Tevinter Nights.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Um... I suppose in terms of individual fic it would probably be Nothing Else Than What Is Now because the squires confess their feelings, they kiss, and if you stop there then nothing bad ever happened ever again lol.
Do you get hate on fics? No. I am far too insignificant to attract that sort of thing.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? On occasion! I don't really know how to describe the sort of smut I write. I think I tend to bring a sort of dreamy romantic quality to it? I lean very hard into even the smut that's very light on plot as being an important character or relationship study. I guess. I do think I'm a very good smut writer though! So whatever I'm doing, I'm doing it well!
Do you do crossovers? What's the craziest you've ever written? Not really. At least not in recent memory. I wrote a Harry Potter/Beatles oneshot years ago on Livejournal that was inspired by a friend's art. And around that time I also wrote a Dick Grayson/Bucky Barnes fic but that's about the extent of it.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Not to my knowledge. If there's ever a demand for it, I'm very open to it!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Sort of. I started co-writing a Mirrorverse fic with @rosella-writes about a year ago? It never quite got off the ground though, which is a shame because I think it was a good idea and I think what we did write was very good. Maybe one day the stars will align for work on it to continue. I'm co-author on a special secret project that is wrapping up soon as well, which is very neat and exciting but I can't say much more than that right now!
What's your all-time favourite ship? All-time favourite is a pretty big thing to consider. Out of all fandoms, probably Chrom/F!Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening. I am now and forever Chrobin trash. Have I ever written it? No. Do I have an extensive art collection for it? Yes.
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? My Qunari War AU. It's mainly just notes and snippets in bits and pieces and while it was definitely canon compliant when I started working on it, I don't think it is anymore. And that sort of made me mostly give up on it.
What are your writing strengths? I'd say dialogue!
What are your writing weaknesses? TRANSITIONS! I'm so bad at figuring out, "Okay, this scene is over/exhausted. Now how do I get things from here to the next one?"
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? I think when it comes to real languages, it's probably best to avoid it. If a character is speaking another language then there are two possibilities - either the POV narrator understands the language or they don't. In the event of the former, there's then no reason to have the dialogue written in a different language than what the fic is since if the narrator understands what's being said then the reader should too. In the event of the former, it's much easier and far less prone to error if you just write that Character A was speaking in a language that Character B could not understand. With fictional languages that are usually incomplete, however, sometimes a word or an expression can be used for impact but I still think it's best to use them sparingly.
First fandom you wrote for? Technically it was Digimon Adventure. But I was 13 so we're not going to talk about that.
Favourite fic you've ever written? So far in terms of completed and published fics it is either In the Long Hours of the Night or The Many Faces of Wisdom. I think they are both evocative character pieces and if I had the money to commission art to accompany them I very much would.
That was a lot of fun and it was interesting to see that some of my stats and things had actually changed! For any other fic writers out there, I challenge you to give this a go! And I am gently nudging the following people: @ronqueesha @kiastirling @dreadfutures @bluewren @thraaaaaaaanduuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiil @unnecessaryligatures @rosella-writes @n7viper

Hey
It's the same girl who asked about your opinion on my 10 year old cousin thinking Jungkook will marry her
I just wanted to ask
Is it normal that Every ARMY(some non-ARMYs too) around me thinks that someone from BTS gonna marry them? Or is it just people around me???
Everyone are delulu omg😭
I have too many stories about these girls
I (forcefully) checked what they were talking about and checked your Tumblr and I was so thankful someone was normal. I almost thought Everyone were like that
And Yes I told her to stay in School
I think everyone has a secret fantasy about marrying their favorite celebrity. That’s why celebrities and idols exist and why boy bands are so successful. I’m really showing my age but omg the frenzy in the 90s and early 2000s around NYSNC and The Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears?? Unparalleled. Then in the late 2000s we saw it again with Justin Bieber and One Direction. The Josie and Pussycats film (SLAY) makes fun of the entertainment industry the entire movie by even parodying boyband obsession, product placements, and the trend cycles. The movie went over so many peoples’ heads when it was released so it bombed at the box office but it’s a cult classic for a reason. Highly recommend to watch!!! Also aging myself again by admitting I had both the dvd AND soundtrack as kid bc the songs are bangers. Honestly the 90s-2000s in general just rocked. This is the only meme I have of the film but see the product placement and the mockery of boy bands? Genius.
The 1D documentary is a perfect example of the boy band frenzy that JATP film was mocking bc they even had a small scene where they had a neuroscientist or someone similar in that profession (I haven’t seen the movie in a few years so I’m not 100% sure but I was a hardcore 1d stan and have the dvd bc their live vocals honestly slap. Their concert cover of teenage dirtbag in the movie?? Still waiting for the actual recording bc chefs kiss). Anyway the neuroscientist was saying that corporations/ music companies have these formulas to create the perfect idol down to a t after studying the phenomenons of rabid Beatles and Elvis fans in the 50/60s. It has to do with the happiness chemicals in the brain. Combine those with good looks and music? You can’t help but fall in love. The entertainment industry then purposely directs their carefully molded artists to vulnerable audiences (preteens, teens, women) because they will buy more products. Casey Aonso (another fellow 1d stan wassup girl) YouTube video describes their XFactor era HILARIOUSLY. War flashbacks. The clips about HOW BAD each individual one direction members auditions were but you could see the $$$ in the judges eyes bc the boys were good looking and you could tel the judges were plotting how to sell the boys good looks. And they did.

And boy do we know that formula works. Hybe overprices bts products on Weverse shop and y’all eat it up and sell it out every time. $200 for a REPACKAGED cd. Weren’t they selling like a $1000 product recently? But even Jin had to be like “nah for my Astronaut comeback yall not gonna be selling hella expensive pajama pants like last time tho. We don’t price gouge in this house”. All hail jin.
I’ve talked a lot about parasocial relationships and media training, etc. While I think it’s fine to have a secret fantasy about marrying *insert celebrity crush name here*, I think it’s important to realize it’s a FANTASY. Fun to think about and daydream to, but NOT REALISTIC when trying to plan a future around or with. Go play the childhood game of MASH or make a SIMS family with Jungkook as your husband. That’s fine and normal. But don’t be going around telling people he’s your boyfriend. That’s delusion. I’ve included a perfect real life example of healthy young fangirling in the tags.
EDIT JUNE 11 2023:
I happened to come across this tik tok video yesterday that also explains delusion and obsession. I think it applies to “fangirling” especially well. TW for trauma.
#fun fact#I kept making a sims family with Harry styles as my husband#but our kid would never do his homework#and would get taken away by cps#and my sim would just cry and cry#if that isn’t symbolism I don’t know what is#ask#bts#Harry styles#OR DOES ANYONE REMEMBER J14 MAGS?#omg nostalgia unlocked#I had a friend who was obsessed with Nick Jonas and had those magazine posters all over her walls#but we were in middle school#and she grew out of that phase and is now happily married to her high school sweetheart and they have 2 kids

Historical Simblr Tag Game
Thank you for tagging me @antiquatedplumbobs, @sinclairesimblr and @thesim-tea!
For anyone interested my answers are below the cut ✨
1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?
The Victorian/Edwardian era always holds a soft spot in my heart. Particularly in the kind of gameplay I do - which is the Decades Challenge - there is something very engaging about those first generations of starting from scratch, with all the added challenges of the lack of modern amenities and strict social norms that you have to enforce in game etc. I also love the fashions of this decade, and dressing my sims to fit the theme is a lot of fun.
As I get further into modern times, it gets a lot easier to play. I still enjoy creating the immersion of each decade though through the fashion and styles of the era. In that respect, I'm really looking forward to wreaking havoc in the 60s, 70s and 80s!
2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)
I mean, I have heaps. I don't think I could list all of them!
3. Who is your favorite sim currently?
Well I'm playing my 1950s heir Maggie and I love her! She's a real wicked sim.
4. What is your favorite world?
Britechester is one of my favourites because of its architecture. I also enjoy Brindleton Bay - I love the seaside life. And of course Henford, which has the best backdrop for historical gameplay.
5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?
I go through 'seasons'. Sometimes what I am posting is gameplay focussed as I start to push through time in-game, but then I try to develop story around my individual characters and their personalities to demonstrate where their lives will lead. Right now I am in a bit of a storytelling phase as I wind up Maggie's arc. I prefer gameplay though.
6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?
I love to because I love pets and have multiple irl, but often I don't have enough room for them in the family - especially when I've got multiple generations living under one roof, in an era where couples had lots of kids.
7. What's your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?
Townies wearing auto-generated outfits that incorporate bits of historical CC. Just tear out my eyes please.
Oh and every time someone rings me to ask if I want to go to a festival. No, I don't. Ever. EVER.
8. What's your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)
The bushes for sims to use as a toilet. Life-saving in historically-acurate houses with 1x toilet and 8 sims.
9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?
I really want music - mainly BANDS! As I enter the mid-century, I am reminded that music in this period of history TOOK OFF. My sims want to be the next Beatles please.
Other than this, I would like something that expands upon families, like generations, or maybe something with a high school focus would be good too.
10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?
Cottage Living for sure. The gameplay it brings can be enjoyed in all decades.
11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?
I don't really use mods, other than MCCC and Wonderful Whims. I try to keep my game clean to avoid corruption as I'm running a very large save file.
12. What's your ideal family size for playing?
Probably 5 sims. Although I seem to always have 7-8. Can't wait for the family sizes to reduce a bit!
13. Do you use poses?
Yes, quite a lot!
14. Do you use any overrides in your game?
I use a baby skin override, and a crib replacement. I also use an override for mops, and homework books.
15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?
I did not - a lot of the cc I use wasn't off-the-grid compatible in the early decades. It was easier to just do without the physical constraint of the lot trait.
16. What lifespan do you play on?
I always play on normal. I am OK with saying goodbye to my sims when their time comes. I like the challenge of trying to get enough done in their lifetimes.
17. What inspired you to start playing historically?
I first played the Upgrowth Challenge in 2017 after I read about it on reddit - around this time I had finally gotten into Sims 4 after pets and toddlers returned. I thought it was a fun way to play and so I completed that. Then I got into the original History Challenge - I found saw @budgie2budgie's History Challenge (waaaay back in 2018!) and was so inspired by it that I decided to try my own. I toiled away with that as a relaxing side hobby while I was doing my Masters.
Then the pandemic hit and I started playing sims more, and I saw @deadlymodern, @sims-and-pixels and @applesaucesims Decades Challenges. By this point I had clocked the History Challenge and wanted to try something even bigger - and the rest, as they say, is history.
I tag anyone who would like to do this to give it a go!

Hello! SOS SOS SOS SOS
I remember talking with you about songs in Harry’s playlist (it was for that forrest gump thing) but I am pretty sure you had a post about the song in that playlist?
Or was it the 28 songs in Louis playlist? It could be… Do you remember any other post about the songs in the playlists they shared lately?
AAAAA damned tags!
Thank you thank you

Hi! Yes so I didn't make a post about that playlist the songs on the Forrest Gump OST are in, that's his playlist for Apple music with Zane Lowe / his quarantine playlist of March 2020 (Spotify playlist) (Quarantine playlist which is the same just songs taken out) as a whole although I do have a bunch of thoughts on that. There's a few in this post about there being 3(!) songs that are cOinCiDenTaLly also the soundtrack to 3 steamy Ryan Gosling scenes in 3 different movies like LOL HARRY BRO PIPE UR ASS DOWN gotta love him but obviously that's not all I think there is to that playlist. You can have my messy thoughts somewhat visualised here tho:
It's not much. Basically reoccurring stuff, whether that's just the same artist being in there multiple times or the songs being movie soundtracks... there were more in there that are soundtracks to movies, I mean most more popular songs are one way or another, but some of these were just.... awfully conveniently following a pattern here and/or simply in movies we know he loves, so I didn't mention them but all just the ones where I went ghuh. And then there's just all the thoughts on the individual songs which are too much to go over - I can say it's a lot of hopeless romantic sappiness that's for sure lol. Quite some of these songs have come back in his most recent preshow playlist, which .. I'll come back to.
The other thing about that playlist is in your Forrest Gump post, and let's just leave the other Forrest Gump post as well.
As for other posts about their playlists:
The playlist post you were thinking of is about Louis' playlists, this one (playlist) and this one (playlist) plus Sunflower addition - (and the resulting parallels playlist of those posts combined)... man those posts were one of the first things I wrote on his hellsite and they tire me the fuck out lol. Somewhere between the excessive use of meme-ish pics and whatnot, the insanity that is the point I'm trying to make there, and the amount of people I had to fight to take their reposts off of insta and other platforms I am never glad to see those circulate again skjsksa.. anyway
Got an analysis of Harry's Another Man Mixtape here (and Spotify link) and Bridge Over Troubled Water addition.
Checked their playlists for That Beatles post.
Last, together with @ialwaysknewyouwerepunk @swimmingleo @thestylinsons @laurelier we hope to birth a post about his latest preshow playlist (Spotify link) as well soon... we're still kinda rambling in a doc for now. Feel free to voice your thoughts on that one!
Wew. Lotta playlists.

Coronagrifting: A Design Phenomenon
We now interrupt our regularly scheduled content to bring you a critical essay on the design world. I promise you that this will also be funny.
This morning, the design website Dezeen tweeted a link to one of its articles, depicting a plexiglass coronavirus shield that could be suspended above dining areas, with the caption “Reader comment: ‘Dezeen, please stop promoting this stupidity.’”
This, of course, filled many design people, including myself, with a kind of malicious glee. The tweet seemed to show that the website’s editorial (or at least social media) staff retained within themselves a scintilla of self-awareness regarding the spread a new kind of virus in its own right: cheap mockups of COVID-related design “solutions” filling the endlessly scrollable feeds of PR-beholden design websites such as Dezeen, ArchDaily, and designboom. I call this phenomenon: Coronagrifting.
I’ll go into detail about what I mean by this, but first, I would like to presenet some (highly condensed) history.
From Paper Architecture to PR-chitecture
Back in the headier days of architecture in the 1960s and 70s, a number of architectural avant gardes (such as Superstudio and Archizoom in Italy and Archigram in the UK) ceased producing, well, buildings, in favor of what critics came to regard as “paper architecture.” This “paper architecture” included everything from sprawling diagrams of megastructures, including cities that “walked” or “never stopped” - to playfully erotic collages involving Chicago’s Marina City. Occasionally, these theoretical and aesthetic explorations were accompanied by real-world productions of “anti-design” furniture that may or may not have involved foam fingers.

Archigram’s Walking City (1964). Source.
Paper architecture, of course, still exists, but its original radical, critical, playful, (and, yes, even erotic) elements were shed when the last of the ultra-modernists were swallowed up by the emerging aesthetic hegemony of Postmodernism (which was much less invested in theoretical and aesthetic futurism) in the early 1980s. What remained were merely images, the production and consumption of which has only increased as the design world shifted away from print and towards the rapidly produced, easily digestible content of the internet and social media.
Architect Bjarke Ingels’s “Oceanix” - a mockup of an ecomodernist, luxury city designed in response to rising sea levels from climate change. The city will never be built, and its critical interrogation amounts only to “city with solar panels that floats bc climate change is Serious” - but it did get Ingels and his firm, BIG, a TED talk and circulation on all of the hottest blogs and websites. Meanwhile, Ingels has been in business talks with the right-wing climate change denialist president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro. (Image via designboom)
Design websites are increasingly dominated by text and mockups from the desks of a firm’s public relations departments, facilitating a transition from the paper-architecture-imaginary to what I have begun calling “PR-chitecture.” In short, PR-chitecture is architecture and design content that has been dreamed up from scratch to look good on instagram feeds or, more simply, for clicks. It is only within this substance-less, critically lapsed media landscape that Coronagrifting can prosper.
Coronagrifting: An Evolution
As of this writing, the two greatest offenders of Coronagrifting are Dezeen, which has devoted an entire section of its website to the virus (itself offering twelve pages of content since February alone) and designboom, whose coronavirus tag contains no fewer than 159 articles.
Certainly, a small handful of these stories demonstrate useful solutions to COVID-related problems (such as this one from designboom about a student who created a mask prototype that would allow D/deaf and hard of hearing people to read lips) most of the prototypes and the articles about them are, for a lack of a better word, insipid.
But where, you may ask, did it all start?
One of the easiest (and, therefore, one of the earliest) Coronagrifts involves “new innovative, health-centric designs tackling problems at the intersection of wearables and personal mobility,” which is PR-chitecture speak for “body shields and masks.”
Wearables and Post-ables
The first example came from Chinese architect Sun Dayong, back at the end of February 2020, when the virus was still isolated in China. Dayong submitted to Dezeen a prototype of a full mask and body-shield that “would protect a wearer during a coronavirus outbreak by using UV light to sterilise itself.” The project was titled “Be a Bat Man.” No, I am not making this up.
Screenshot of Dayong’s “Be a Batman” as seen on the Dezeen website.
Soon after, every artist, architect, designer, and sharp-eyed PR rep at firms and companies only tangentially related to design realized that, with the small investment of a Photoshop mockup and some B-minus marketing text, they too could end up on the front page of these websites boasting a large social media following and an air of legitimacy in the field.
By April, companies like Apple and Nike were promising the use of existing facilities for producing or supplying an arms race’s worth of slick-tech face coverings. Starchitecture’s perennial PR-churners like Foster + Partners and Bjarke Ingels were repping “3D-printed face shields”, while other, lesser firms promised wearable vaporware like “grapheme filters,” branded “skincare LED masks for encouraging self-development” and “solar powered bubble shields.”
While the mask Coronagrift continues to this day, the Coronagrifting phenomenon had, by early March, moved to other domains of design.
Consider the barrage of asinine PR fluff that is the “Public Service Announcement” and by Public Service Announcement, I mean “A Designer Has Done Something Cute to Capitalize on Information Meant to Save Lives.”
Some of the earliest offenders include cutesy posters featuring flags in the shape of houses, ostensibly encouraging people to “stay home;” a designer building a pyramid out of pillows ostensibly encouraging people to “stay home”; and Banksy making “lockdown artwork” that involved covering his bathroom in images of rats ostensibly encouraging people to “stay home.”
Lol. Screenshot from Dezeen.
You may be asking, “What’s the harm in all this, really, if it projects a good message?” And the answer is that people are plenty well encouraged to stay home due to the rampant spread of a deadly virus at the urging of the world’s health authorities, and that these tone-deaf art world creeps are using such a crisis for shameless self promotion and the generation of clicks and income, while providing little to no material benefit to those at risk and on the frontlines.
Of course, like the mask coronagrift, the Public Service Announcement coronagrift continues to this very day.
The final iteration of Post-able and Wearable Coronagrifting genres are what I call “Passive Aggressive Social Distancing Initiatives” or PASDIs. Many of the first PASDIs were themselves PSAs and art grifts, my favorite of which being the designboom post titled “social distancing applied to iconic album covers like the beatle’s abbey road.” As you can see, we’re dealing with extremely deep stuff here.
However, an even earlier and, in many ways more prescient and lucrative grift involves “social distancing wearables.” This can easily be summarized by the first example of this phenomenon, published March 19th, 2020 on designboom:
Never wasting a single moment to capitalize on collective despair, all manner of brands have seized on the social distancing wearable trend, which, again, can best be seen in the last example of the phenomenon, published May 22nd, 2020 on designboom:
We truly, truly live in Hell.
Which brings us, of course, to living.
“Architectural Interventions” for a “Post-COVID World”
As soon as it became clear around late March and early April that the coronavirus (and its implications) would be sticking around longer than a few months, the architectural solutions to the problem came pouring in. These, like the virus itself, started at the scale of the individual and have since grown to the scale of the city. (Whether or not they will soon encompass the entire world remains to be seen.)
The architectural Coronagrift began with accessories (like the designboom article about 3D-printed door-openers that enable one to open a door with one’s elbow, and the Dezeen article about a different 3D-printed door-opener that enables one to open a door with one’s elbow) which, in turn, evolved into “work from home” furniture (”Stykka designs cardboard #StayTheF***Home Desk for people working from home during self-isolation”) which, in turn, evolved into pop-up vaporware architecture for first responders (”opposite office proposes to turn berlin's brandenburg airport into COVID-19 'superhospital'”), which, in turn evolved into proposals for entire buildings (”studio prototype designs prefabricated 'vital house' to combat COVID-19″); which, finally, in turn evolved into “urban solutions” aimed at changing the city itself (a great article summarizing and criticizing said urban solutions was recently written by Curbed’s Alissa Walker).
There is something truly chilling about an architecture firm, in order to profit from attention seized by a global pandemic, logging on to their computers, opening photoshop, and drafting up some lazy, ineffectual, unsanitary mockup featuring figures in hazmat suits carrying a dying patient (macabrely set in an unfinished airport construction site) as a real, tangible solution to the problem of overcrowded hospitals; submitting it to their PR desk for copy, and sending it out to blogs and websites for clicks, knowing full well that the sole purpose of doing so consists of the hope that maybe someone with lots of money looking to commission health-related interiors will remember that one time there was a glossy airport hospital rendering on designboom and hire them.
Enough, already.
Frankly, after an endless barrage of cyberpunk mask designs, social distancing burger king crowns, foot-triggered crosswalk beg buttons that completely ignore accessibility concerns such as those of wheelchair users, cutesy “stay home uwu” projects from well-to-do art celebrities (who are certainly not suffering too greatly from the economic ramifications of this pandemic), I, like the reader featured in the Dezeen Tweet at the beginning of this post, have simply had enough of this bullshit.
What’s most astounding to me about all of this (but especially about #brand crap like the burger king crowns) is that it is taken completely seriously by design establishments that, despite being under the purview of PR firms, should frankly know better. I’m sure that Bjarke Ingels and Burger King aren’t nearly as affected by the pandemic as those who have lost money, jobs, stability, homes, and even their lives at the hands of COVID-19 and the criminally inept national and international response to it. On the other hand, I’m sure that architects and designers are hard up for cash at a time when nobody is building and buying anything, and, as a result, many see resulting to PR-chitecture as one of the only solutions to financial problems.
However, I’m also extremely sure that there are interventions that can be made at the social, political, and organizational level, such as campaigning for paid sick leave, organizing against layoffs and for decent severance or an expansion of public assistance, or generally fighting the rapidly accelerating encroachment of work into all aspects of everyday life – that would bring much more good and, dare I say, progress into the world than a cardboard desk captioned with the hashtag #StaytheF***Home.
Hence, I’ve spent most of my Saturday penning this article on my blog, McMansion Hell. I’ve chosen to run this here because I myself have lost work as a freelance writer, and the gutting of publications down to a handful of editors means that, were I to publish this story on another platform, it would have resulted in at least a few more weeks worth of inflatable, wearable, plexiglass-laden Coronagrifting, something my sanity simply can no longer withstand.
So please, Dezeen, designboom, others – I love that you keep daily tabs on what architects and designers are up to, a resource myself and other critics and design writers find invaluable – however, I am begging, begging you to start having some discretion with regards to the proposals submitted to you as “news” or “solutions” by brands and firms, and the cynical, ulterior motives behind them. If you’re looking for a guide on how to screen such content, please scroll up to the beginning of this page.

i was tagged by my darling @loser-user-noaccuser (thanks for the tag love) so let’s go!
(i’m also gonna tag @takenbythelightfantastic @shutupdevvie and @myfriendtheghost but if you see this and i didn’t tag you, feel free to participate anyway!)
what book are you currently reading? i just started shady hollow: a murder mystery by juneau black. i’ve been meaning to read it for ages, so i’m excited to finally get around to it.
what’s your favorite movie you saw in theatres this year? this is really hard to pick because i did see a lot of films this year, most of them screenings of older movies. my top three are probably labyrinth, goodfellas, and rear window. i do feel that elvis deserves an honorable mention as well because i did really enjoy that and it made me cry multiple times.
what do you usually wear? it depends on the day. if i’m at home i just wear athletic tights and a t shirt, but if i’m going to class i’ll throw on a cardigan as well and sometimes wear jeans instead of tights.
how tall are you? i’m 5′3″
what’s your star sign? do you share a birthday with a celebrity or historical event? i’m a pisces! i also share a birthday with johnny cash and victor hugo (and i’m one day away from sharing one with george harrison)
do you go by your name or nickname? they’re pretty interchangeable tbh. some people call me mallorie, but just as many call me mal.
did you grow up to be what you wanted to be as a kid? yes and no. i think that who i am as a person is the type of individual that i’ve always been and wanted to be, but in the tangible sense of a career, lifestyle, etc., i’m still in a transitional period of my life and can’t say yet if i’ll reach the more material goals set by my childhood self.
are you in a relationship? if not who is your crush if you have one? i’m not in a relationship, and i don’t really have any crushes aside from my multiple famous/fictional/tumblr mutual babygirls.
what’s something you are good at vs something you are bad at? ever since i was a child, i’ve been pretty talented in the arts (singing, acting, visual art, etc.) and i did really well in school, but i am absolutely terrible at sports or really anything atheltic.
dogs or cats? both! although i don’t know if i could live without a dog.
if you draw/write or create in anyway what’s your favorite picture/favorite line/favorite etc. from something you have created this year? it’s definitely this (technically unfinished) painting that i did of george harrison at the beginning of the year. i consider it one of my best works to date, and it was done at a time when i was really deep into a beatles phase so i think my love of the band and george really manifested into the work.

what’s something you’d like to create content for? oh my gosh there’s so many things. i’m really big into any kind of pop culture/media so i draw a lot of celebrities that i love and things like that. i’d really like to continue to make art that shows my love of the beatles, but i would like to branch out into making art for some of my other loves like john denver, gvf, and the muppets. i’d also love to give writing fanfic for any of the fandoms i’m in a try.
what’s something you are currently obsessed with? well i’m obviously obsessed with the beatles and gvf, but i also adore john denver, the solo works of all the beatles, the muppets, the simpsons, film (particularly old hollywood and 80s films), and a million other things. i’ve also been hyperfixating on seinfeld a bit lately bc that’s the show i’m currently watching.
what’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year? i think every year i convince myself that i’ll make new irl friends and finally have a full friend group or even get into a relationship, but that never really happens much. (although i am thankful for all of the darling friends i have made on tumblr. y’all mean so much to me.) i also went see paul mccartney in concert this year and while it was amazing and by no means disappointing, it didn’t hold the life-changing gravity that i thought it would, and it almost made me a bit sad because it reminded me how much time has passed since the beatles and that the people that i really care about won’t be around forever.
what’s a hidden talent of yours? i’m pretty good at impressions! i can do a lot of them, but some of my favorites are miss piggy, cher, bob dylan, chubby checker (specifically singing the twist), a ton of simpsons characters, jerry seinfeld and jimmy stewart. (the last two aren’t always great but they really make me laugh.)
are you religious? yes, but it’s a bit complicated. i was raised catholic, but i find that i don’t agree with all of the teachings of the catholic church, so now i’m trying to find where i stand in the religious community and where my beliefs and morals fit. it’s something i’m working on and figuring out as i go along.
what’s something that you wish to have at this moment? happiness, love, and peace
#thanks so much again to shae for the tag#this was so much fun#also sorry if i got too emotional or whatever#mal lore

Music Tag Music Tag Music Tag
Who was your first favourite artist? I actually spent most of my childhood mostly casually into like Disney stars and random other stuff I picked up on, because I was staunchly opposed to (and didn't know how to) illegally download music. So I was kind of casual about individual artists until my early teens really. But we'll go with the band Scissor Sisters.
Who are your current favourite artists? Taylor Swift <333 and the Beatles
Are you into musicals? Which ones?/Why not? Y E S, I love musicals. My top three are Hadestown, Great Comet and Les Mis and also I adore the musical TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, think it's a hilarious and relatable show with great music.
Are there songs you consider so special you only listen to them very rarely? Last Kiss by Taylor Swift, She Used To Be Mine from Waitress
What's your preferred way of listening to music? (time of day, medium, situation) Headphones, walking briskly around my house when I'm alone at home lmao.
What would you say is the most niche music you listen to? Probably the songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and do the Bad Lip Reading Star Wars songs count? Also Mika's 2010s music is pretty niche outside europe I think.
What's your favourite music related movie/TV show that's not a musical? Coco (2017), one of my absolute favourite Pixar movies. Just gorgeous and utilizes music so smartly.
Albums or playlists? Post-January 2020 I'm a real album girl. But I love making playlists too I just barely actually use them lol.
Favourite albums? folklore & evermore (2020), Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Bad Blood (2013), Punisher (2020)
Is there an artist you're trying to get into? All the Beatle solo careers, just taking a while with it
Whose music do you find overhyped? Rina Sawayama, honestly. She's good but I don't get what all the fuss is.
What's an underrated song? I HATE EVERYBODY is Halsey's best song, and I'm tired of pretending it's not. Also Treacherous and You Won't See Me.
What's a thing a bunch of songs do that you love every time? Changing from major to minor or vice versa. Also implying a rhyme without actually singing the rhyme.
What song is better acoustic? mirrorball (2020) <3
What's the worst song of all time? Cotton-Eyed Joe
Do you put individual songs on repeat? If so, for how long and how often? Rarely, and when I do, I don't get past about four or five repeats. My one exception is once in 2013 I listened to Do I Wanna Know for about an hour. No idea what compelled me.
Do you make your own playlists? If so, what's your most entertaining playlist title? I do, it's a passtime. The best ones are "World's going to shit but the music's lit" and it's all ~political songs, "songs to have a breakdown to", "Paul and Taylor Share A Songwriting Kinship, OK?" and "Lennon-McCartney-Godhead", which is only songs they collaborated on a lot (I really like the word "Godhead" okay?)
Headphones or earbuds? Headphones baby. Go bulky or go home.
Do you always sing the lead vocal or do you harmonize sometimes? If you harmonize, do you ever invent your own harmony? I love coming up with new harmonies for songs. There are certain songs where I actually automatically sing the harmony I added instead!
A music confession I sing out loud while walking around outside, even in crowds sometimes. Manic pixie dream girl moment. Also I genuinely love the 2012 Les Mis movie and don't understand 80% of the hate it gets.
No pressure tagging: @monkberrymoon-delight, @harrisonbridgers, @monkberries, @muzaktomyears, @a-queen-of-the-clouds, @imaybeasleep, @mollyboughtthering, @emometalhead, @itwouldbel7, @damapajaro and anyone else that wants to join in!!! I just love music ahhhh!!!

Thank you for tagging me @odearjohn !!💖❤️
Who was your first favourite artist? I guess it was Katy Perry. I didn’t really like music in my early teens, but when I listened to Roar I just loved it, and then I stayed her fan for about a year.
Who are your current favourite artists? Beatles (my precious bugs they own my heart), Alan Parson’s Project (always), ELO, Wings and Simon and Garfunkel
Are you into musicals? Which ones?/Why not? Well I like movie musicals, i’ve watched very few theater musicals. The movies musicals I like are The Sound Of Music (perfect, amazing, indescribably bEaUtiFUL), Singing In The Rain, An American In Paris (that last dance sequence is astounding) and Disney musicals in general. Oh jesus Wizard Of Oz!!!!!!!!!!!
Are there songs you consider so special you only listen to them very rarely? There are some that make me very emotional and nostalgic, but not a lot of them. The ones that come to mind right now are Aquarela (just thinking about it makes me want to cry ughh) and Malíssimo
What's your preferred way of listening to music? (time of day, medium, situation) Lying down with headphones at night or through speakers while doing the dishes
What would you say is the most niche music you listen to? Mmmmh I don’t really know… idk if listening to Vangelis is really a niche, but it’s the closest thing to a niche music i listen to
What's your favourite music related movie/TV show that's not a musical? Phineas and Ferb lol. I’m sorry but it’s so good!!! And probably other movies but I don’t remember them right now😅 Ooh Forrest Gump’s soundtrack is amazing! And so is Guardians Of The Galaxy (it’s basically my playlist so whats not to like)!!
Albums or playlists? Both. Some musics I can’t listen to on a playlist and some I can’t stand the album so I just put it on my playlist
Favourite albums? Abbey Road, Turn Of A Friendly Card, Venus And Mars, Cloud Nine, Voulez-Vous, News Of The World, Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme and Synchronicity
Is there an artist you're trying to get into? Bob Dylan. I’ve been trying to listen to this man forever but I c a n ’ t.
Whose music do you find overhyped? Idk really, I usually don’t pay much attention to nowadays music. I’m mostly ok with the oldies sooo, ummm, maybe Nirvana is a bit overrated??(controversial opinion please don’t kill me)
What's an underrated song. I don’t think She’s Leaving Home is sufficiently appreciated, such a beautiful song and beautiful lyrics and beautiful harmonies an-
What's a thing a bunch of songs do that you love every time? Harmonies. Especially if it involves more than two people
What song is better acoustic? Is it lame if I say While My Guitar Gently Weeps?
What's the worst song of all time? Ooooh ughhh I don’t really know afsggshs. I don’t think it’s the worst song ever, but I HATE Sign Your Name
Do you put individual songs on repeat? If so, for how long and how often? Y e s. I get a new favorite song every month and listen to it a trillion times
Do you make your own playlists? If so, what's your most entertaining playlist title? Yeah, but I just have three and they were made so I could separate the “genres”. I’m pretty bad at titles, so the playlist where I put all the songs I like is called Favorite (really original I know), the playlist with the songs I loved as a kid is called Memory and the one where I put my favorite classical music is called Classicos Classicos (Classical Classics in english and oh jesus i’m so dumb shsgsjajaj)
Headphones or earbuds? Headphones always
Do you always sing the lead vocal or do you harmonize sometimes? If you harmonize, do you ever invent your own harmony? I can’t sing lol but when I do (and I only do when there’s nobody to witness my terrible voice) I try to do the harmony, but for the life of me I can’t make up harmonies
A music confession I like Wild Honey Pie. Yes you read it right
I’m tagging @pol-mccharmly, @sgt-revolver and anyone who wants to do it!
