The thing about finally rereading the first Sword of Truth book is that that I was COMPLETELY OBSESSED with this series when I was in high school. I originally found it when my mom flipped past an episode of the tv series and as soon as I saw that "adapted from" I was ON IT. Totally eclipsed the show lol. Fan art and poetry may have ensued.
However, I have not touched them in the 12+ years since high school, and every time I've seen the series independently come up online, the consensus seems to be that it's not great. I do remember its tendency to monologue repeatedly (and some questionable plot elements), so I thought, maybe they're right?
One work day into the audiobook (and probably at least 5 more to go, lord save me), I can't answer that, but I can say that it's taking itself very seriously and so far I absolutely cannot XD The number of things that are still ingrained in my brain that I'd forgotten about is astonishing.
#also Zed is my favorite. love an ornery old wizard with secrets#this thing is 34 hours long!!!#it's not even the biggest book in the original series!!!#honestly idk what I'll do if I want to continue#I absolutely don't have energy to read my print copies#but the library doesn't have digital audiobooks#I'm not going to shell out more money to buy them#do I need to buy a portable cd player again. is that what I've come to lol#ANYWAY. the reason I'm rereading this is to decide if I want to keep my copies#the sword of truth#wizards first rule#bec posts
