🏛️ Dad Facts

This is a dndads (Dungeons & Daddies) ask/rp blog for an AU version of Glenn Close! I refer to him as Swap!Glenn officially, and refer to the AU as Swap. His full name is Glenn Close-Freeman. This blog is ran by Mod Rome, who uses any pronouns! :) The AU is directly inspired by @birdifulhuman-blog​ -- go check them out!

🏛️ Everything is the same story-wise, but in this AU Glenn is swapped with Henry! Meaning that he was the one who grew up in Closevale with Bill Close. Swap!Bill, unlike Canon!Barry, liked deferring his responsibilities to everyone else who wasn’t him; he got away with this because everyone loved him! He was just so charismatic (and definitely wasn’t brainwashing everyone)!

As a kid, Glenn became a city planner of sorts since, when Swap!Meryl Streep arrived in Faerun and founded the town of Closevale, he took some...liberties with the infrastructure. When the leadership of the town is shifty, things are bound to break. But, of course, people respected him as Prince Glenn and he managed to bring the town up to some level of decency.

Somewhere along the way, Glenn ends up using his father’s mirror (passed down from the Streeps) to escape to Earth. He loses his memories, but is saved by Morgan Freeman! He gets a doctorate in architecture and begins working in San Dimas as one, but retires to become a professor after the birth of their child, Nicholas Close-Freeman. Turns out, he likes that better!

The rest of his story follows similarly--on the way to save his son from his father, he discovers he has innate magic. His son is affected by the Rogue card and hates him. He gets stabbed by his son after leaving Faerun, etc. etc.

Currently, he’s just trying to get things back to normal and repair the relationship between him and his son.

Dndads Roleswap AU

Terry Stevens Jr. and his emotionally detached rogue foster son, Ron Stampler. They're very awkward, due to a combination of their personalities and Ron's fresh trauma of almost being drowned by his dad. A conveniently passing fisherman saw Willy holding him under and intervened, causing Willy to be arrested and Ron to be placed into emergency foster care. Ron wants to believe that Terry is a good person, but it's a recent placement, and he's never been the best judge of character, so. He's wary.

Nick Close and his rock and roll bard son, Glenn Close. Glenn is currently a sophomore in high school, and is trying to start a band. His dad's work has him away from home for most of the week, but Nick is there almost every weekend, and for the holidays. He wishes he wasn't home alone so often, but he knows it's hard for his dad to support them on his own. Which is why he had the great idea to sell fireworks at school! Surely nothing will go wrong.

Grant Wilson and his barbarian quarterback son, Darryl Wilson. Darryl is currently a junior in high school. During his eight grade year, his parents divorced amicably due to Grant's sexuality, and Darryl has been his wingman ever since. Grant is dating Marco Li, and Darryl tries to give romantic advice before every date. He's a big fan of football and tells Marco all about it whenever he gets the chance. Grant worries about him getting head injuries.

Sparrow Oak and his moody hippie druid son, Henry Oak. Living with his energetic father and remarkably concerning uncle gets under Henry's skin sometimes, so he does a lot of yoga to try to calm down. He has anxiety which often manifests as anger. He took up gardening when he was seven because his uncle Lark told him he couldn't go outside when it was raining. Henry proceeded to not only sneak outside during the storm, but start plotting out/tilling the soil for a backyard garden. He is currently a junior in high school.

so basically the gist of it is 4 dads [darryl, henry, ron, and jodie] on a quest to save their lost sons

around arc 2 where theyre gettin their anchors, thats where they get introduced to glenn, jodie's deceased older brother whos a demon now cause its fuckin cool dawg why not listen i dont have every detail ironed out

when jodie sees glenn he is very much Not Convinced thats his brother and is instead, another trick from the omega daddies and vehemently tries to avoid him.

for the scene w the purple robes giving glenn the phone to call morgan at castle ravenloft, that scene wouldnt work for jodie, for obvious reasons

so instead, when he recieves the phone, its glenn's voice on the other side. his brother who died in a car crash alongside their father bill when they were younger.

which im deciding to say, pushed young jodie to becoming a highway patrol officer

i think theyre like 5 yrs apart in this au? so like, if glenn died at 19, jodie woulda been 14. also i cant decide if jodie's also a demon or not. listen man . im standin at this au's corkboard like im pepe silvia. i cant be coherent but i can sure as fuck doodle

and that glenn was trying to recruit linc and darryl to help him because jodie and him argued for like a week or so when he came up with the initial idea

THE DADS AS KIDS🌙🐺

So i wanted to draw them how i imagine them looking when they were like 8-9 ish… SO I DID!!

i put darryl in a child’s baseball uniform because why not:)

Ron has three little frogs and shorts with high socks and no shoes.

Glenn has on jorts and a tank top. Glenn is playing a little guitar/ukelele (idk) and has some bandaids on his chin cause he fell.

HENRY. hen. henry has on some clothes from oakvale- as in fantasy elf crap. he has no shoes. i have a thingy where i like to draw barry and the oakvale-ians with ink splatter-duh tattoos. so i gave henry some. henry also has a little bag on his back.

So, I'm on the final episode of season One and I cannot shake an idea of an AU off, that I myself would fucking love to read but will also probably never write or properly work on (probably. I do love Ron a lot and mourn the fact that there is very little fanfic about him, so I might snap):

What if the time-travel remote doesn't send Darryl back in time, but just completely malfunctions (because of whatever reason) and sends back Ron's memories to his own teenage self, just a couple years before Willys death? And yes, not Ron himself, only his memories, so Teen-Ron basically would experience an extremely intense vision of all of Dad-Rons memories including all feelings related to that, keep the memories as if his own and still keep his Teen-brain (this is to avoid age-gap ickiness).

This would not end up in a fix it. We are talking about the dndaddies here, so this would end up changing things, sure, but the idea is that Ron, having experienced all of these sudden memories, gets a fucking panic attack over several issues here:

1. The abuse. Ron realizes that yes, all of the things he saw will happen, he believes it and HE DOES NOT WANT TO EXPERIENCE THAT (AGAIN). He doesn't want to lose his dog, doesn't want to hide from his dad so that he won't be hurt, he doesn't want to hurt at all.

2. He doesn't want to kill his dad. He doesn't want to be killed either.

3. His friends (he has friends, right? In the future they are friends, so. They still are? They should be. He has friends). Where are they? He doesn't know where they are. Dang it. He needs and wants them. (What if they don't want to be his friends now? No, that. That can't be. They said they loved him)

4. This realization would come after some drastic changes, but. What if Terry Senior never dies this time and Samantha won't fall in love with him and he will never gain her and Terry Jr. as family? What if he changed too much? And even if Terry Sr. does die again, what if Samantha this time around simply will never meet him?

5. How does he...fix it all before the shit hits the fan in the forgotten realm. He's Ron, sure, but. How? He doesn't want his friends or kids in danger this time. He doesn't want to face Willy like that ever. He can't like, open a portal and stuff. He's magical, but he doesn't have magic. Fuck.

Aka, Ron now has to survive, keep Willy alive, find his friends and ensure that they are somehow prepared for the worst case scenario and manage to pop into Samantha's life again at the right time and bond with Terry Jr. And he's what? Ten? Fuck.

And he's Ron. So. That's gonna complicate things too, even tho he himself doesn't know it (We heard the Dennis episode, like. Cmon. They would not just believe him before they have a big time to bond with him and most definitely some proof. Well. Glenn would, maybe.)

U see where I'm going with this? Epic exploration of the dad's childhoods, Ron himself and pre-canon and just all in all a wacky rewrite where all the characters are still just as fucked up but stumble into a found family way earlier. Not a Fix-It, but a Remix.

One of my big thoughts because I love domestic Glennry is “endgame adopts two rowdy beautiful boys; Henry passes his love of painting down to Sparrow and Glenn teaches Lark fighting skills.” My second biggest thought is “it would be very funny if Darryl was the horse.”

Rad Fact about Glenn; He's been in an intense one-sided rivalry with Darryl for over a year. What's the rivalry about? Being Ron's best friend, of course! Glenn was there first, so when Darryl started hanging out with Ron at lunch, he was not excited. Darryl just thinks Glenn has a competitive spirit.

ending season 1 of dndaddies and i just need you to know

glenn deserved better

look look ok. i get it the angst. but i feel like as soon as he broke out of prison his story was shelved in favour for the season final and ron’s moment.

glenn had is a easy favourite in the fandom- dude is four levels above everyone, he’s the bisexual dream.

and i really enjoyed the ending of season 1! but i feel the disconnect for his own ending, he lost EVERYTHING. he fucked up his hand to break out. his son isn’t even his son anymore, jodie took everything from him.

all i’m saying is if demons are the only ones to fuck with timelines and be used for that power… i just i don’t know i think it would have been a really cool side quest to have nick get his memories back and nick and jodie fighting over a timeline- and in some way we get the best of both worlds and nick is a merge of both timelines. same with morgan. look morgan and nick have two hands and two timelines.
