Leverage Redemption + the Librarians?

(some of this from comments made by members of the dnd group, either you or tova or isi I cannot recall who) the Librarians get sent on a clipping book mission (something akin to the Horns of the Minotaur episode, a company using an artifact for evil) around the same time the leverage crew is tackling things at that same company. right before they go, Jenkins mentions something about Doppelgangers. hilarity ensues as the librarians Do Not Believe that Eliot is his own person, very confused as to why this doppelganger (??) isn't like. reading as magical or trying to sabotage them? Parker and Ezekiel recognize each other on sight and there's some very minor Cat Hissing type 'oh, world's greatest thief huh?' but then it turns out they Know Each Other from when they were kids and are glad to see each other. Harry is Delighted by everything this is all so cool!!! they are working their own cases/ missions pretty separately but do need to team up eventually in the end to get the artifact and take down the company, with Jake and Eliot just SO wary about the other, Eliot because of [ spoiler redacted i know my followers haven't all seen his Leverage Redemption s2 episode but if you have you know what I'm talking about] and Jake because /that's a fucking doppelganger??? stealing my face???/ but getting along in the end. and then when the librarians get home Jenkins is like ' what? no, I took care of the doppelganger thing right before you left. 'so the Mystery Remains.

Tuca and Bertie an Analysis = The Fig tree theory

CONTENT WARNING: Anyone mentioned in the show Tuca and Bertie are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS and is used for Analyzation purposes ONLY.

Anyways heres an appreciation post for our boy Figgy:

What do Fig trees symbolize:

"The fig tree is an ancient symbol of fertility, wisdom, and strength. The fig fruit was considered a sacred food by many cultures, including the Egyptians, who believed that it was the Goddess Isis herself who taught humans how to grow and enjoy figs."

I kind of wished in the show that they elaborated more on Figgy's backstory on well he is someone that sees sexual harassment as an issue that must be addressed, but no one else besides Tuca comes to the classroom to learn more about it, either because it's a "taboo" topic to address in person, or it's not taken seriously. (I prefer the ladder response.) We also see Tuca's response to this which shows her making her moves on Figgy, (season 3 leveling up) which Figgy is kind of reluctant to reciprocate, before finalizing the decision of Tuca's advancements towards him:

After the flashback Tuca claims that she "had learned nothing" which Bertie describes as "Hot" This gives the audience the first impression that if you are a man, you are expected to reciprocate an action when a woman makes a sexual advance towards you. However, the episode the new bird season 2 episode 8 which you also find on YouTube:

Dakota (on the left) discovers who Pastry Pete really is and Bertie (on the right) "defends" him which Dakota points out, Time stamp: 0:50 - 1:92.

Considering how much younger Dakota is both mentally and psychologically, in contrast to Bertie who is much older than she is. It's a sad parallel to see that Bertie is used to mistreatment while Dakota is not. and all of this ties back to Figgy and her reaction to Tuca "learning nothing" about the sexual harassment course that Figgy was trying to teach to an almost empty classroom or the affects it can have on someone's mental state.

The one rule that Figgy implements to Tuca is for Tuca to not stop him from drinking.

Conclusion: Dakota, Bertie, Figgy, Tuca and Speckle. Are all sides of the same Dice mechanics when playing DND. Because even though they are different in severity of issues that they face, they are still important to how each of their story unfolds. And how each mechanic influences the way that the “game” operates.

4, 11, and 12 for some beast

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

i love writing some beast pegasus lol. he's not THE villain in this fic but he's still pegasus.

11: What do you like best about this fic?

working on some beast got me back into writing more seriously, so even when my heart rotates through top favorites, i will always love it for this reason alone. for the fic itself, i think what i really love is my characterization of kaiba as an intensely driven and highly skilled young man pushed into an increasingly desperate situation, balancing his tendency to self-isolate with the need for intimacy, and balancing his need for intimacy with the ultimate goal he strives for, within the context of a situation where successful intimacy translates directly into survival; highly independent and solitary but also forced to maneuver within the confines of limited agency because that's what he sacrificed to achieve the goal... no one in canon has any meaningful authority over kaiba, so it's really fun to position him lower on the totem pole in some beast, and how he reacts to having authority figures over him -- one who really likes him but still has power over him (isis), one who disrespects him but at the same time wants him to succeed (pegasus), and one whose motives and actions are both cruel and suspect (dartz.)

i also really like writing the more lowkey "life in a shatterdome" type stuff!! the celebratory dance party!! kaiba falling asleep on mokuba's hospital bed and mokuba telling pegasus to fuck off! playing DND with the gang. having breakfast with your friends!! they are at war with evil monsters from another dimension, and the screws are tightening, but they are seizing moments of joy and companionship where they can.

12: What do you like least about this fic?

I don't really dislike anything but I think, 120k into the story, that I have a few regrets about how I approached certain things...

I wish I'd done a slightly different storyline with Malik - really doubled down on the Hannibal Chau "selling kaiju body parts" storyline, and made it so that Drift was too much for him, he flamed out and quit, and now he's selling kaiju parts on the black market and he's kind of held up as a warning to other Rangers (although he himself is thriving, safely away from the PPDC.)

I find it a struggle to balance my two different plots -- this is a story about Kaiba exploring intimacy and trust and friendship (Plot 1) in the context of an endless war against kaiju (Plot 2.) Idk if I've balanced it well because it's like "ah shit wait i have to do some kaiju stuff now, I can't just write about characters interacting and having feelings all the time." To that end, I think, I put effort into making Plot 1 really feel engaging and compelling, to make up for my comparative lack of attention paid to Plot 2.

OC_tober Dnd Edition Day 5 I absolutely could have made her a deer centaur like Isi regularly is, but I figured might as well try somethin' different. Brushing up on horses! But yeah it was an interesting choice making her a wizard. She's got crystal creation abilities so it doesn't really match up, but Isi herself is very studious and can put up a good fight. Wizard fit right up that alley!
