Okay, now that i'm actually up and around, Happy Odaiba Day everyone. I know it's generally used to celebrate the Digimon Anime, but who give a shit, I'm gonna celebrate v-pets by doing an annual overview of my V-pet collection and what I'm currently running ( don't worry, I have anime related plans later this evening )
My V-pet collecting has slowed down this year. I have most of what matters to me. A DM20th for every version exclusive, plus a few extras with special paint jobs for Holidays, though I contemplate giving away my extras. I have one of each DMX and DMX2, and one DMX3 that I bought before I realized there were plans for english versions, if Bandai doesn't localize DMX3 this year, I may bite the bullet and get the last one I need. And I have the Digivice version complete.
I have put all of these ( sans the Holiday paintjob ones ) in this neat little 3 tier storage container. I have plans to decorate it with stickers, but I'm trying to get very specific custom made ones. Also I want to get another one, because the one I got is already nearly full, and I still haven't even put my Pendulums and DMCs in it yet which as you can see below...
I have all the Pendulum Zs, two Pendulum 20ths, and 2 DMCs, and i'm expecting version 3, 4, and 5 in the mail this Autumn,
The first of the month is generally when I swap my V-pets around. But I was doing an extended run for the last few months of my DM20 to complete my log, and didn't want to put my DMC away yet, also I'm loving my Floppy Frog too much to put it away before it dies, because they don't have battery saves. So half way through the month, I put the DM20th away, and replaced it with Silver Black Pen20, and a Tamagotchi gen 2. Floppy Frog is still going at nearly 90 days, and no battery change. Amazing.
Currently running Saint Galgomon and Ogudomon.
Also, not pictured here, I'm running my Vital Bracelet BE, and I currently have Regulusmon, but I've kept him asleep the whole time, i'm literally just using it as a watch that I set ahead by 10 minutes so I get to work on time. I think he may have Evo failed anyway. I'm not a big fan of the Vital Bracelet BE anyway. I don't like the time limit you have to power up.
That's all for now when it comes to Digimon v-pets. I've got some more V-pets coming in the mail, but they're not Digimon related. I've also been on a Tamagotchi kick, and I'd like to get a Tamagotchi Uni for my birthday in about two Weeks, but we'll see how things look financially around that time.
Anyway, Happy Odaiba Day, hope yall have a fun one and make plans to celebrate.

Final Friday
Today's the Final Friday of the year. Gonna do something I haven't done in almost 20 years...blog.
On this Final Friday of the year, my first, official Tumblr post. Not a reblog, not an Instagram picture, not a comment on someone else's brilliance (many brilliant people in these here Tumblr streets). My first post, my own words. Let's goooo
What inspired me to write tonight? A desire to get words out faster than I can write on paper. An eventual desire to make words leap off the screen, into your eyeballs, sear them onto your brain. Before this metaphor gets further away from me...
I've always been a good writer, got a way with words. I write better than I speak, even without editing (last paragraph notwithstanding). I used to write poetry, stories, essays. Only poems for fun, but I my stories and essays were bomb. My sister loves to write, has written whole novels, many times over. She inspires me.
They say your 30s are for rediscovering what you loved as a 13 year old. When I was 13, I wrote poems. I loved to read. I would do full-on regular push-ups in gym class, though I never ran the track. At summer camp,I shot arrows, shot a rifle, shot pictures with a film camera. I loved boy bands and boys. I loved DMX and Ja Rule and TLC and Destiny's Child and 702 and Brandy and Monica. I loved Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and Eiffel 65. I loved my agenda, planning things out. Imagining my future with elaborate descriptions and drawings of the rings and jewelry on my hands. I loved pressing shift F7 in Microsoft Word to look up synonyms and impress my English teachers with my expansive vocabulary while writing essays. I wish I had done the same with Spanish.
As a thrice 13 year old, 3 years removed, I can get down with that, with rediscovering who 13 year old Elizabeth was and how 36 year old Elizabeth can be. I just turned 3 dozen years old 2 weeks ago. Best believe in 3 years, I'll be thrice thirteen.
The new year is around the corner. But my new year already started. Birthdays are personal new years. And they count more. Elizabeth math: 36>2024
A holiday I've always wanted to celebrate during this time of year is Kwanzaa. Last minute Liz looked to buy a kinara (Kwanzaa candle holder) on the 26th. On a sunny afternoon, I walked into Sister's Uptown Bookstore, a Black-woman owned bookshop on 156th and Amsterdam (take the C to 155th Street and walk up and left). The store employees were chatting with a customer, who had a kinara and candles in hand. I suspected they were the last of their kind in the store. I asked the lady at the counter, and she said, "We just sold the last one. It's great that so many people are coming into Kwanzaa this year. Things are flying off the shelves." I bought two books instead, one by a Haitian author, and one by a Dominican author. Books by authors from the same island.
My search for a kinara led me to the Malcolm Shabazz African market on 116th and Lenox (take the 2 to 116th Street and walk towards 5th Avenue). As I strolled under the arched canopies, I sidestepped Muslim men prostrated in prayer, facing east. Noticed the name Fatoumata on one of the signs. Bought two dresses from two separate vendors, promising myself to haggle the next time I shop there.
Finally, I ventured north towards the South Bronx's only bookstore, the Lit Bar. On 133rd and Alexander Avenue (take the 6 to 138th Street and walk down). There, I marveled at the little Black girl painted on the wall. Treated myself to a 5 year one line a day diary, a tote bag, a glass of Moscato, and a plate of fruit served in the cutest way. Go to the Lit Bar! Buy a book, buy a glass of wine, get lit!
I did not find a kinara, but I found much more.
Today's nguzu saba, one of the 7 principles of Kwanzaa, is UJAMAA, cooperative economics. To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together. In short, #BuyBlack and reinvest back into the community. Another way is a susu. All members of a group of people contribute the same amount monthly to a pot, which goes to one person. The next month, it goes to another person, and so on and so forth. Imagine all we can do if we pool our collective resources, intellect, and creativity together.

Oh yeah, dude! How's your time in theatre stuff for post-secondary!
I know we talked about those masks you made, and it seems like a mix of understandable anxieties and enjoyment, but yeah! How's it been going what have you been learning?
So much . SO MUCH.
I've got my working at heights certification back, I'm scissorlift certified, first aid certified, and I'm looking to get my pyro license in april!
They've been taking us to shows at Stratford and Shaw. I have seen more musicals in the past three months than I have in the prevoius 19 years of my life
The first semester is a quickfire introduction to all 7 departments:
Lighting: learning all the different types of stage light and their functions, learning how to hang, and an introduction to DMX
Audio: a walkthrough of the four main pieces of any sound system, followed by assembling my own sound system and doing karaoke on it
scenic carpentry: it's 90% safety training, but I also got to build my first mini flat
Scenic paint: a few basic texture techniques and colour theory exercises I've done a million times before
Wardrobe: SEWING EXERCISES! I sewed my first zipper! I sewed my first button!
Stagecraft/Stage Managment: An introduction to the industry, the usual workplace hierarchy, and a bit of practice paperwork. I am not meant to be a stage manager, this I know for certain.
Props: moulding and casting, foam sculpting, weathefing techniques. Heaven on earth
Anyway after about two months they toss us into crew and we rotate through departments
After two weeks in the prop shop they had to drag me out kicking and screaming.
We also have the mandatory english credit; a bullshit theatre history course I am currently lying in bed skipping.
But yeah. It's stressful and exhausting and I'm having the time of my life. I can't believe I'm going to get PAID to do this stuff one day
The most important thing we're doing though? NETWORKING. This industry is all about who you know, and every classmate, teacher, guest instructor, or designer could land me a job one day. There are a LOT of people around here who have worked on Strange New Worlds. If I play my cards right and act extra nice to the right people, my first gig out of college could be motherfucking STAR TREK.
