One of my favorite fics of all time is Evangelist by @valleydean. It's really enemies to friends to lovers but the enemies part becomes friends pretty quickly because they are deeply obsessed with each other. One of the classics if you haven't read it is To Build a Home. Childhood friends who broke up and find themselves back in each other’s life. It is very angsty but they have a lifelong friendship so you get a lot of childhood and teenage friendship moments. If I may self recommend, I just wrote Can't Fight the Moonlight in which they are in this post canon partnership and both want to add sexual intimacy but the partnership is soft so you get some really fun platonic intimacy. It's not AU, obviously, but may have something of what you want. Seraph by @dothraki-shieldmaiden is a superhero au where they are friends and roommates to lovers. It has great world building. More than Kisses by @friendofcarlotta is a friends to lovers epistolary romance. Dean and Cas are pen pals and they share an absolutely gorgeous emotional intimacy. Tiamatv has a few that fit the bill. I'm gonna mention Marchen because I love the world built in that one. Dean Winchester is a prince locked in a tower. Well, property taxes suck. I have to come up with $996 by June 25th. After paying the house payment, utilities, groceries, insurances and car payments, I can't save that up.

I have no debt so I can't even blame that.

A/N: I dunno where this idea came from, I was just thinking about clueless Cas, shithead Gabriel and two hunters in a bunker this came about. No clue when this would occur in canon, so place it wherever you would like.

Sam entered the bunker after his morning run to hear pounding and laughing, Gabriel walked from the direction of the bedrooms toward the war room, with a evil smirk on his face. The pounding continued, clearly someone was knocking on a door and it echoed through the cavernous bunker.

"Hey Samshine! Your brother is hyperventilating in his room, you better do something about that!" He laughed as he walked past Sam "Got any donuts in this dump?"

"Wait, Gabe..what?" Gabe only laughed and kept walking. Sam turned and hurried toward Dean's room where he found Cas with his head against the outside of Dean's door and fist resting on it. In a clearly frustrated tone "Dean, we can talk about this, but screaming through a closed door is hardly ideal, please let me in."

Sam put his hand on Cas' shoulder.

"Cas what the hell happened? I wasn't even gone an hour!"

Cas backed away from the door, waving helplessly at it. "I don't know Sam, Gabe suggested I tell Dean how I feel and "grow a pair" and so I did and now," he gestured at the door again, then stood his full height and glared at the door, "I could just blast the door open."

"NO!" Sam couldn't process this information fast enough for Cas' patience, or lack thereof "no Cas," he lowered his voice "help me understand, you told Dean what exactly?"

"That I love him of course, that I always have" Sam thought he might fall over and Cas continued his explanation "Even though Dean is acting panic stricken the longing I feel off of him is completely opposite of what he is outwardly showing." Cas paused and stared at the door again. "However that does seem to be Dean's standard, He has operated in that fashion since the first day met him."

Sam was pinching the bridge of his nose. "You gave him no hints at how you felt, nothing, and then just drop a decade long I Love You on him? Cas you should've known he would freeze up, that's textbook Dean!"

Cas looked bashfully at the floor. "In my defense it was Gabriel's idea."

Sam surpressed a laugh "That's not a good defense since it was GABERIEL'S idea."

Castiel rolled his eyes. "I rebelled against Heaven for Dean, most angels do not do that Sam, unless that has escaped your attention, I would say I did indeed give him several hints over the years." Then he turned to the door and tilted his head in confusion, Sam watched for several seconds while Cas seemed to be processing something. "He just prayed to me Sam. He wants pizza, pie and beer, and none of that pineapple shit."

Sam laughed out loud now. "Cas, find Gabriel, go get the food and beer, when you both get back he'll be ready to talk, Gabriel and I will find a way to occupy ourselves and give you some privacy."

Cas looked confused but nodded. "I'm sure Gabriel has many lewd suggestions for that." Sam felt his face heat up, but said nothing, he waited until he heard the heavy clang of the bunker door closing then stepped back to Dean's door.

He knocked gently. "Hey Dean, all clear, you can come out now."

All Sam heard from the other side of the door was a quiet "He loves me Sammy, what the hell did I ever do to deserve an angel?!"

Sam sighed "More than you give yourself credit for man. If you come out I'll list them off for you." He smiled when he heard the lock on Dean's door release. Very symbolic he thought to himself.

Set S11.  The MoC is gone and Cas is human again.  The three have gone to investigate a potential case when Dean and Cas end up in a French Mistake style universe, except instead of being on set, they are at a Supernatural convention.  Also, in this universe Jensen and Misha are married!  Jared quickly believes them and helps get them through the weekend. There’s also a sequel where Jensen and Misha are travelling with Sam.

Grumpy Mornings

Authors notes: not beta read. Typed entirely on Tumblr in about 15 minutes, because I had a random teeny idea that Cas despises waking up alone.

It's a cold morning in the bunker when Sam finds out.

He and Dean are in the kitchen waiting for coffee to brew. Dean is preparing scrambled eggs and bacon. Sam has three mugs out and ready for the morning fuel.

He has his back to the door filling cups when he hears a third pair of feet shuffle in and Cas' gravelly voice, rough from sleep makes Sam jump.

"I don't like waking up alone Dean!"

Sam's hand slips while filling mugs and coffee goes everywhere.

The angry voice continues. "The bed gets cold, I miss holding you, and your pillow doesn't hold your scent!"

Sam turns to look at his brother who's forgotten about the eggs he was scrambling and is standing dumbfounded. "Uh. Sorry?" Dean's voice cracks.

Cas glares at him.

Dean raises his eyebrows in question. "Eggs and coffee as an apology?"

Castiel looks thoughtful "Yes I'll take breakfast in bed thank you" and he turns around and leaves the kitchen like this was an everyday occurance.

A few seconds pass of Sam and Dean standing there not moving.

Dean turns the heat off on the stove "Don't say a word Sammy."

Sam smiles "So, you're the little spoon?"

"Shut your face Samantha." Dean says but he's grinning and plating eggs. He pulls down a breakfast tray. Sam set two mugs of coffee on the tray. Dean sets one heaping plate of eggs and bacon and two forks on the tray.

"How long have you two--?" Sam begins to ask.

Dean puts an entire carton of orange juice and two glasses on the tray. "Since the empty, since he gave up his grace. Sorry we didn't tell you, we weren't trying to hide it---"

Sam pats his brother on the shoulder. "I'm happy for you man."

Dean picks up the tray and Sam stops him "Hey, sugar for the coffee," he squeezes a tiny cup of sugar onto the already over loaded tray and with a shit eating only a little brother can manage he says, "and two spoons, a big one for Cas and a little one for you."

Dean rolls his eyes and retreats. Sam takes his plate and coffee to the table and pulls out his cell phone. He has friends and family to fill in on this long overdue development.
