• An antique, elegant building built in 1911 in Portuguese style, Coloane Library stood on Rua 5 de Outubro, Coloane. The library was formerly the Coloane Public Elementary School, one of three elementary schools on the outlying islands. Later, the function of the building was changed several times until it was re-modelled as a library in 1983. The library occupies 170 sq. m. and provides 22 seats. It contains some 7,088 volumes, mostly children’s books and popular novels, as well as 49 newspaper titles from different areas and 43 types of magazines. • The name "Hac Sa", is a translation from Cantonese literally means the famous black sand. However, to prevent the beach from disappearing due to erosion, Macau government has refilled the beach with yellow sand artificially. The dark colour comes from the minerals in the water which is lighter than other volcanic beaches like those in Hawaii. The beach is located near Hac Sa Reservoir Country Park. It’s a small paradise in its own way, calm and relaxing, being one of the many fun places in Coloane to spend the day.
