It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. Except lets face it, the modern dating pool sets neither men nor women up to succeed, the apps are where love goes to die, and with the way the economy seems to be tilting all that talk about a good fortune doesn't seem to be meeting modern female expectations as set up by pop culture figures (note to self: figure out how to patent "sober and demure" hip hop that espouses the benefits of homemaking)

In fact, due to the military-industrial complex's concept of "podcasting," these young men are practically unmarriageable. If they podcast and go to therapy, then doubly so. This has created a crisis of single young men in possession of previously good enough fortunes to marry who are simply unfit by both historic and modern standards, forming an entire demographic of what we call "brigands."

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single brigand who fails to get his DJ career off the ground, must be in want of an adventure. Except those are hard to come by these days, being either illegal or inaccessible due to a requirement of personal discipline inherently absent in brigands. A lack of adventure often turns brigands into curmudgeons, and so something must be done.

Looking back to the last time society was in crisis over young people with bad hair rejecting the concept of "marriage" and "not abusing drugs," the 1960s provide us with the perfect answer: cars. Cars are material wealth that can attract partners (see: the tender homoerotic car based relationship the two leading men of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot have. Don't YOU want to die in another man's arms?). Cars are a means of self actualization (putting speed parts on for tangible horsepower gains). Cars provide valuable time for meditation (garagetime zen while installing said parts). Cars a even a source of good exercise (throwing heavy metal tools across the garage after snapping a bolt during install). Cars provided adventure, excitement, and even acted as wedding carriages as young men pulled away from wedding festivities with white-gowned passengers signalling they were no longer in want of a wife. All because they were in want of a car.

Of course the 2010s were much better economic analogs to the 60s, as the 2020s seem to be closer to the 1970s malaise era in both overall income and cultural ennui. Therefore it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single brigand who is in possession of a podcasting setup and niche meme account, must be in want of a bad car.

Hed Kandi: Disco Kandi 2000 House / Garage House / Nu-Disco

Good God, what a terrific pair of discs here from the ever-consistent dance comp label Hed Kandi. With this first ever installment in their Disco Kandi series, the UK outfit supplies a steady stream of ephemeral house bangers from the late 90s and 2000, with a lot of the selections sounding contemporary, but also managing to channel an invigorating old-school disco spirit too. And many of these glitz-glammy, high-quality productions also collectively continue to progress from the sonic tradition that first started in famed New York DJ Larry Levan's Paradise Garage nightclub in the late 70s, where he nurtured a more vocally soulful and R&B-rooted house sound into the late 80s that would come to be known simply as 'garage.' And after the Paradise Garage's closure, that garage sound would find popularity at a club in New Jersey called Zanzibar too, where Tony Humphries would continue to spin it.

Now, despite a few of these tracks having somewhat remarkably high YouTube play counts, all of them were and still are definitely underground; that is, except for one. And this particular tune that I'm referring to wasn't just mainstream, but it really managed to lace the hell out of a lot of US contemporary hit radio stations back in the late 90s, even though it only ended up peaking at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100, overall. Basically, if you tuned into your local pop or more dance-oriented station on anything close to a regular basis back then, there's almost no way that you could've avoided one-off supertrio Stars on 54's cover of Gordon Lightfoot's 1970 soft folk-rock classic, "If You Could Read My Mind," which saw Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Ultra Naté teaming up to record a song for the soundtrack to the disco period flick, 54. Really classic radio gold right there that a lot of people probably haven't thought about in a long while.

And then just as you're finished reminiscing on whatever fond memories you might hold that are associated with that particular song, quite possibly the most impressive track of all within this two-disc set ends up directly following it: the Matthew Roberts and Richard Fite remix of Eclipse's "Makes Me Love You." This one has a big, sun-shining pool party vibe to it, as it combines lustrous disco strings, funkily plucked guitar, a fuzzy-thick corrugated bassline, and piano keys, all while employing a lovely filter technique, which is that really popular thing that house musicians got to doing around this time period, in which certain elements sound distant and submerged, and as they continuously loop, keep sounding closer and clearer, until they satisfyingly breach the surface and hit their glorious peak. And that's maybe my favorite type of house music in the whole world 😊.

So, a really enjoyable way to spend over two and a half hours here, with a hefty dose of super sleek house tunes, a lot of which are on a nu-disco and garage tip. And it was collected by the always seemingly on point Hed Kandi label too, which has never steered me wrong before!

Is it wrong to have an idea like this? I love onward and security breach, and I thought that some of the animatronics suit the Lightfoot family well

Barley is definitely someone like Glamrock Freddy!! Their both amazing father figures and they’re very supportive of their brother/child

We don’t have a lot of insight on Glamrock Bonnie, which would have worked well for wilden but I decided that to make it a little sadder by making Ian be Bonnie instead

for Laural as Glamrock Chica….. I’m not so sure about

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW

Jonathan ‘Johnny’ Loughran is based on Jonathan from Hotel Transylvania He is a 27 year old human, DJ at Neverland and uses he/him pronouns. He has no powers. Jonathan is portrayed by Hunter Doohan and he is taken.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

Growing up with seven other siblings wasn’t easy. Johnny always found himself trying to fight for his parents attention alongside his other siblings. It left him feeling like the black sheep of the family. He didn’t have grand plans for his future like his other older brothers. He walked to the beat of his own drum and did whatever made him happy. Which were things that were considered taboo in his family. He wanted to travel the world, experience new things and just to roll with the punches. His parents didn’t understand his dream, but they did the best they could to support him. Which was enough support for Jonathan to embark on his back-packing journey throughout Europe. He had never been the materialistic type, so all he needed was a few change of clothes and his loved but worn skateboard. Johnny in the span of year visited Italy, Austria, and Hungary. For the first time in Johnny’s life he was truly happy. Every day was a new adventure and his next stop was Romania. After a meeting a few friends along the way, Jonathan’s group decided to hike up the Apuseni Mountains. Before the group made their departure up the mountains, one of his friends told a story about a haunted castle and a spooky forest in the town below them. Johhny wasn’t one for ghost stories and had to see for himself what lied below the mountains of Translyvania. Traveling through thorn branches and a never ending fog he ended up at Dracula’s front door step. Instead of being absolutely terrified of the creatures that inhabited the hotel, Johnny was completely blown away. Instead he was excited and fascinated by every monster that roamed its halls. He was soon caught by the one and only Dracula who quickly wanted this human out of his home, but it was too late because his only daughter had already met him. Mavis pleaded his case and begged her father for him to stay, and Dracula agreed but only for the time being. It wasn’t until Johnny began having feelings for Mavis that things begun to go haywire. Dracula didn’t approve of their relationship because he was human and on that fateful night Mavis left the hotel after screaming at her father and never came back. Dracula became worried sick for his only daughter, and even though he didn’t like humans he needed Johnny’s help to bring her home. He didn’t know where to start but traveling is what he was best at. Soon he found Evermore and only hoped Mavis was there too. There was only one problem--he couldn’t leave. With that throwing a hitch in his rescue mission Johhny did what he did best. Adapt. He got a job as a Dj at Neverland, asked residents around town if they’ve seen Mavis and continued to hope that their paths would cross again someday.

Both of them having never ending wild stories to tell one another even if Barley’s dramatics is only fictional. ❀ Coraline Jones: Johnny’s seen them around the movie theatre every time he’s gone and they always have sick movie recommendations. ❀ Angelica Pickles: Usually is always bringing the vibe down at Neverland when he Dj’s there. She’s always asking for Justin Bieber music which is appalling because Johhny is #Team Selena.

Kathy Sledge (born January 6, 1959) is a singer–songwriter and producer. She is the youngest and founding member of Sister Sledge, a vocal group that is made up of her sisters that formed in 1971. After achieving success beginning in the late–1970s thru the mid–1980s with Sister Sledge, she embarked on her solo career in 1989. She has had several hits on the International Pop and Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including "Take Me Back to Love Again", which hit #1 in 1992. Born in Philadelphia, she was born to Edwin, a former Broadway star of the dance-tap duo 'Fred and Sledge' and Florez. Her siblings are Norma Carol Blackmon, Debra, Joan, and Kim Sledge. Her grandmother Viola from Williams was an opera singer. She graduated from Olney High School. She continued her education at Temple University, majoring in Recreational Opportunities for the disabled. She performed the lead vocals on the two Top 10 US hits the group had on the Hot 100, "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family" which were released in 1979. She collaborated with dance producer Robert Miles on the dance/pop single "Freedom" in 1997. She returned to the dance chart in 2001 as a featured vocalist for Sylk 130 on the track "Rising". She released a track called "Give Yourself Up" on Universal Records, which hit the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Club Play Chart. She was the first signing of the new Pacific Electronic Music record. She received an "Outstanding Contribution to Music" award at the 16th DJ Awards. She performed the new Aristofreeks remix of "We Are Family". The first release of the five remixes of "We Are Family" that she re-recorded with the Aristofreeks. She has a single together with the same group, "Keep It Moving", which went up to the No. 2 spot on the US Dance chart.
