Вас приветствует EDM-фандом! Иначе говоря,фандом электронной танцевальной музыки. Пара (ну как пара) слов о фандоме.

Он необъятен и увлекателен. Серьезно, необъятен. Оценить масштабы. Но не спешите в ужасе захлопывать браузер! Такой объем означает лишь, что каждый сможет найти в этом многообразии что-то подходящее для себя. Урбанисты по достоинству оценят techno или industrial, кого-то затянет в танец мажорный house или позитивныйdrum'n'base, настроят на медитативный лад trance и ambient... Главное - начать искать! Ну что, поехали?

Начнем с праотцов. Kraftwerk основатели поджанра электро. Ломанный ритм, созданный на драм-машинах, визитная карточка этого стиля. Хотя пик его популярности пришелся на 80'е, он не теряет актуальности и по сей день. Помимо этого, с электро берут свое начало другие жанры, например, техно.

По словам Хуана Аткинса (англ. Juan Atkins, один из основателей стиля): "Техно — это музыка, звучащая, как технология". Техно - это и всем известный Джефф Миллз, и гораздо менее популярный, но не менее талантливый французский диджей и композитор Gesaffelstein. Им и его другом и коллегой по цеху Brodinsky был основан лейбл Bromance Records В начале своей карьеры они выглядели так:

И уж коль скоро речь зашла о французском техно, нельзя обойти стороной и других их соотечественников.

Это и Daft Punk (Ги-Мануэль де Омем-Кристо и Томас Бангальте), пишущие хаус с налетом диско и публике более известные в амплуа роботов. Это и относящиеся к электро-панку Justice, выпускающиеся на лейбле Ed Banger Records.

Ed Banger Records заслуживает отдельного внимания, ибо на нем под чутким руководством Busy P выпускается множество классных музыкантов-электронщиков.

Например, Mr. Flash, добавляющий к электронным семплам звуки гитары.

Feadz, смешивающий в своем творчестве хип-хоп и хаус.

Uffie, единственная, но отвязная девушка лейбла.

DJ Mehdi, скоропостижно скончавшийся в 2011, но внесший исключительный вклад в EDM как музыкант и продюссер.

Сам Busy P, неутомимый менеджер всего этого балагана великолепия.

(EN: I've seen some Korean blogs dedicated to translating EDM lyrics, and have been intending to do my part. My efforts on here can begin with the recently released Ed Rec 100, I think - even the English songs could benefit from Korean translation! 'Ed Rec 100' required some more work, though. I used the Italian lyrics from u/Jockbaia and tried to polish up translations in English and Korean. Disclaimer/notes under cut.)

Original source translated this as 'zero zero frenzi/friends (?)' - I'm inclined to think that it might be the English word 'frenzy', if only because that seems to make marginally more sense than any alternatives I can think of. I can't hear it as anything else, and besides Mr. Oizo and Phra have a song together where the words 'No English today' are repeated throughout in English so the interjection... probably makes sense... ↩︎

The original source is lost on this one and so am I. If the word is 'Renzi', then I'm wondering whether it might refer to the politician Matteo Renzi - popular for excellent Twitter usage, among many other things. Phra's rap isn't meant to make a huge amount of sense and I think this is just a symptom of that. ↩︎

The 2017 world hit „Bum Bum Tam Tam“ by MC Fioti (sampling a flute fugue by Bach) being one of the most succesful examples of Deutsche Klassik blending into the favela sounds universe. „Overture“ (French for „Opening“) is one hell of a kick off. Not only is it Daniel Haaksman ́s return as a producer (he didnt release new music for almost a year), Daniel returns to his very roots as baile funk pioneer. But now he´s flipping the coin making his own take on the new minimalist baile beats from São Paulo by mounting the strings of a Berlin string ensemble on top of a dope baile funk beat. The ensemble was casted by Daniel for the recording of „Overture“ and consists of Berlin based string players from Bulgaria, Austria and Israel. The result is stunning: A powerful beat, a killer bass line, super tight played string sounds and an angelic chorus in the break down make „Overture“ one of 2018s most outstanding and forward looking club tracks. It´s the first release from Daniel Haaksman´s upcoming new album "With Love, From Berlin", scheduled for an end of January 2019 release. Bass? Check! A beat that women shake their hips on the dancefloor to? Check! Sublimity? Mega check! And now make "Overture" go boom! Perspectives 15: Appropriation

So Me

So Me (Bertrand Lagros de Langeron) is a French Art Director, Illustrator, Brand Designer, Film Maker, Musician, and Artist. The name So Me references the pretentious moment an artist looks at his own work and goes “That’s so me” 

He is the art director for Ed Banger Records and also releases his tracks upon the label, allowing him to have direct visual input on the records’ visual image to the listeners.

He has also created a multitude of videos for Kanye West, Kid Cudi and many other renown musical artists. He won the 2005 MTV European Award for his video for Justice called "We Are Your Friends." Within 2010, Armand van Helden’s new music alias ‘Duck Sauce’ saw the release of his song ”Barbara Streisand”, de Langeron directed the music for the 2010 soundtrack, but also making a cameo in the process. 

So Me began promoting his own hobby of creating portraits of people, in which he began making a business of. These portraits are of Pedro “Busy P” Winter which at the moment popularity and music exploits were hitting a pinnacle. The portraits included Busy P under different personals and settings. These portraits appear to have a strong vectored quality to each piece, with solid block fill colours, usually primary in nature. Although appearing simplistic, this style of vectored portraits became much of his basis for his current design styles with album art work and record label designs. The simplistic nature of the artwork however, is provided visual depth with the supporting typography in which the character is surrounded by. The solid black fill of the typeface also not only contrasts with the white background but allows the portrait to be aligned centrally as the centre of focus. The typeface appears to be a hand drawn or custom typeface, in which was vectored then placed within the design piece.

So Me vector styles continue to be seen across much of his works, as the album artwork for Kanye West;s ‘Always be Alone’ also consists of the vectored/animated style in which it primarily consists of solid colour tones. The typographic elements appear to be set as a bold sans-serif style to grip the viewer’s attention immediately with a primary yellow colour tone and solid white and pink fills. de Langeron’s style of hand drawn and vectored typeface is also strongly present within both pieces, further applying to the overall ‘animated’ and ‘cartoon’ visual appearance of each piece, due to the vectorisation of all graphic elements present in each piece. 

He also created animations for Kanye West’s music video for “Good Life” directed by Jonas & François. The video was the recipient of several awards nominations, winning "Best Hip-Hop Video" at the BET Hip Hop Awards and "Best Special Effects in a Video" at the MTV Video Music Awards. 

So Me coordinates most videos and album art for Ed Banger releases. Ed Banger Records (sometimes referred to as Ed Rec) is a French electronic music record label founded by Pedro Winter in 2003 as a division of Headbangers Entertainment. It focuses on house music, particularly French house, as well as alternative dance, electro, hip hop, nu disco, and synthpop, among other styles. The label is home to French acts Justice, Sebastian, Cassius, Uffie, Krazy Baldhead, DJ Mehdi, Mr. Oizo, Mr. Flash, So Me, Feadz, Breakbot, DSL, Boston Bun, and Winter himself under the alias Busy P.

This show is inspired by all those DJs I heard in the late 90s/00s that played sets containing all types of music (something difficult for me to find today in Barcelona). Clubbing memories of places like the Electric Chair/Lights Down Low/El Diablos/Phonetics/Keep It Unreal/Eyes Down/Scuba/Remedy/Dulo & many more.
