summary: you and josh had been friends since you were young, but lost touch when you moved away. you saw a familiar fade somewhere you never expected to...

you had known josh since you were very young, because of your guys parents being friends, but lost touch when you moved away in your freshman year of highschool. josh, of course, was homeschooled. so there wasn't any chance you'd see him at school, even if you went to the same school.

you had lost touch after a few months, since you were both so overwhelmed with all that was going on. you had so much to do for school, and he was fresh into the acting industry, so you both had a lot on your plates.

junior year

"hey, mom!" you said, walking through your front door after your first day of school.

"hey, honey. how was your first day?" she asked you, looking up from some bills she had been looking through.

"it actually went really well. i think i'm gonna try out for the cheer team!" you told her, and she smiled.

"y'know, i was on the cheer team too. that's actually how your dad and i met..." she said.

"let me guess, he was a football player, and you were on the cheer team? you guys just magically fell in love?" you joked.

"actually, no. he was a major band nerd. we ran into each other after the game and talked. then, he asked me out after a while. and now we're here." she said to you, going back to the bills.

"interesting..." you said, having heard the story millions of times already. "i think i'm gonna get a snack and go to my room. i have some homework to do." you told your mom, grabbing a snack and walking upstairs to your room. your door was open, as usual, and your cat franklin was stretched out on the bed.

"hey, franky. how was your day?" he purred, rubbing on your arms and hands.

he meowed at you as you sat down on the bed, digging out your phone from your backpack, and some homework you were given today.

you fought the urge to go on tiktok instead of your homework, but the second you finished your homework, you were on your phone. texting back friends and checking your social media's.

you heard the front door open, signaling that your dad was home from work.

"dad!!" you spoke, practically running down the stairs.

"hey kiddo!" he smiled at you, and hugged you. "how was your first day?" he asked.

"it went good! i just finished my homework." you explained to him as he took off his jacket and out his stuff down. your dad had worked at the local police station. he worked as an emergency dispatcher, so his hours were relatively normal. 5:30am-5:30pm normally. unless he had to fill in for someone, which happened often. 12 hour days were quite a lot, so all my dad really did when he got home was eat dinner and then go to bed. my mother was a florist, which is gonna come in handy the next couple years, with corsages for prom, and things.

the next day, thursday, you went about my day like usual.

"hey, mom?" you walked into your house.

"in here, honey." she hollered from the kitchen.

"do you recognize this boy?" you showed her a picture,

"him? y/n, that's josh. joshua bassett. you always used to call him joshy." she poked me, causing me to blush.

"that's him?? i recognized the face but i didn't really put two and two together." you told her. "he's... really cute, wow?" you said.

"i was actually just talking to his mom already this week. she said that he mentioned you." she told you.

"wait what??" you were shocked they he even remembered you.

"yeah. i can ask her for his phone number for you. if you'd want me to..." she offered.

"uh, duh! i can't believe that he remembered me." you said, still looking at the picture.

"i'll text her right now." your mom spoke, picking up her phone from the table and opening messages.

you sat on the couch and thought about what to watch.

you were scrolling through, and decided to watch something from the newest streaming service, disney+. as soon as you opened disney+, you almost screamed.

"mom!! come here." you said.

she can running into the living room, concerned.

"what? what's wrong??" she asked, whilst looking at the television.

"is that who i think it is...?" i asked her.

".... uh, yeah. i'm pretty sure it is..." she said, as you pointed at a boy that looked extremely similar to joshua. he was the male lead in the new series, 'high school musical: the musical: the series'

"that's... uh... interesting..." you spoke.
