The best way to be a catalyst for change is to start close to home.⠀ ⠀ As I do the work I am called to do in this lifetime, it is critical that I investigate the legacy of my own Mexican lineage and the ways that we are complicit in anti-Blackness and also anti-Indigeneity. I cannot think of one culture that does not have these elements woven into its history. ⠀ ⠀ These beliefs, even when not conscious, inform our interactions, behaviors, relationships, policies, and systems of the organizations and institutions that we engage in on a regular basis. ⠀ ⠀ It is our responsibility to disrupt this learned behavior, that is a cornerstone of our culture.⠀ ⠀ I've committed to make sure this is on the forefront of my personal learning and unearthing... and just because I have been married to a Black man for 20+ years and have Blaxican children does not let me off the hook.
