WRITING  PREFERENCES

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: All of the above, but I’ll always have a blatant preference for angst. It’s what I’m good at & there’s always something to do for it. I adore fluff, but if you start giving me passive replies... well, I start losing my mind & then it’s not fun anymore; and that’s commonly how that goes. I’m super picky about who I write smut with, so while I enjoy it occasionally, it’s definitely not high on my priority list. PLOTS OR MEMES: Plots, but also I’m lazy so I really like memes too. LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I prefer somewhere in the middle. Para, multi-para. One-liners tend to die out super easy, because there’s not much to work with, but novella (while I’ll happily write it occasionally) gets exhausting & is hard on my disabled ass. BEST TIME TO WRITE: Either early mornings, or evening / night. I can’t focus during the normal ‘day time’ to save my life, most days, especially with how noisy it tends to be in my household. Crack of dawn? Perfect. Midnight? Perfect.  ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): Aspects of each muse that I write, can be found in me. That’s part of why I write them, after all. Though obviously, I would sort of hope that I’m not too much like some of these assholes. Also, Seras is a better person than I ever will be, thanks. But yeah, there are aspects, of course there are!

Renzo Arbore ama giocare, forse come antidoto alla drammaticità della vita, ai pensieri bui, al dolore per le persone che non ci sono più. E il suo più grande compagno di scorribande è stato Gianni Boncompagni. Avevano un umorismo diverso, ma erano “sintonizzati”. Sulla musica, le donne, la voglia di vivere una sconfinata giovinezza. A due anni dalla morte dell’amico, Arbore ha deciso di ricordarlo con un programma che non vuole essere nostalgico, ma con 4 ore di divertimento, testimonianze, aneddotti.

Lo si capisce già dal titolo No, non è la BBC, in onda il 26 settembre in prima serata su Raidue, dove lo ricorderanno gli amici più cari, da Raffaella Carrà a Piero Chiambretti, da Giancarlo Magalli a Fabio Fazio, da Ambra a Claudia Gerini.

Domanda. Partiamo dalla vostra amicizia, nata nel 1964 all’esame Rai per programmatori musicali. Gianni era comunista, lei era filoamericano, come facevate ad andare d’accordo?

Risposta. «Vede, Gianni era portato a fare discorsi leggeri e a non polemizzare, era rarissimo che lo facesse ed era il suo bello perché era positivo e pragmatico. “A che cosa serve perdere tempo in discussioni”, diceva, “se possiamo prendere la vita con allegria?”. Si è divertito moltissimo, con il suo sorriso e le sue battute conquistava le donne».

D. Non avete mai litigato per una donna?

R. «Sì, certo».

D. E chi era?

R. «Era la “Sgarambona”, un personaggio radiofonico inventato da Mario Marenco che sosteneva di uscire con me all’insaputa di Gianni e viceversa. La gag era che lei telefonava e si lamentava del fatto che volessimo arrivare sempre al sodo, su una vecchia Fiat 500, senza farle alcuna promessa».

D. Quando ha capito che fra di voi sarebbe nata un’amicizia?

R. «L’ha capito prima lui, quando ha visto che ero stato il più bravo al concorso Rai. Ma la cosa che ci unì fu la passione per la musica moderna, che portammo in radio. La radio era un mezzo antico, noi lo rivoluzionammo».

D. Qual era il vostro segreto?

R. «Il segreto era che, se qualcuno ci diceva “non si può fare”, la nostra risposta era “perché no?”. Siamo stati i primi deejay radiofonici, portavamo i nostri dischi comprati all’estero e li presentavamo, inventammo la categoria dei “giovani”, che prima non erano considerati».

D. Dopo Bandiera gialla arrivò Alto gradimento, un varietà radiofonico che ha dato origine alla radio moderna, quella alla Fiorello per intenderci.

R. «Gianni faceva un programma di servizio, Chiamate Roma 3131, dove si parlava solo di cose tristi, mentre io ero stritolato dal ‘68, non vedevo l’ora che finisse e, infatti, è finito con quello che venne chiamato “l’edonismo reaganiano”. Prima il sorriso era una cosa negativa, bisognava essere seri e impegnati, allora i  ragazzi andavano di nascosto a vedere i film di Totò e ci ascoltavano alla radio».

D. Poi, però, le vostre strade si sono divise: lei ha fatto L’altra domenica, lui è andato a lavorare con Raffaella Carrà: è stata la vostra Yoko Ono?

R. «No (ride, ndr) ci siamo divisi perché io sono stato chiamato da Raidue, mentre Gianni è andato a Raiuno: io facevo L’altra domenica, lui Discoring. Ci scambiavamo idee sui programmi, cosa che oggi sarebbe impensabile».

D. Lei abolì le vallette mute, fu il primo a far parlare le donne in tv; Gianni, invece, sosteneva che le donne in tv non dovessero parlare, è il caso di Non è la Rai.

R. «Io ho inventato le “donne parlanti”, è vero, perché allora le vallette dovevano solo portare le buste, poi c’erano due giornaliste, ma il resto erano uomini. Gianni, però, ha avuto un’intuizione che ho capito proprio nei giorni scorsi, mentre preparavo il programma su di lui. A Non è la Rai celebrava la bellezza della fanciullezza mostrando queste ragazzine piene di vitalità e di voglia di vivere. Erano bellissime, poetiche, senza trucco, tatuaggi, cellulari».

D. Ha amato molto le donne.

R. «Guardi, in questo programma Raffaella Carrà parla per la prima volta della loro storia d’amore raccontando con grande umanità il primo incontro, quando Gianni le fece una finta intervista. Poi ci sono le donne con le quali ha lavorato come Ambra Angiolini, Claudia Gerini, Sabrina Impacciatore, Lucia Ocone, che raccontano la sua genialità sul lavoro».

D. Eravate due giocherelloni, ci racconta un vostro scherzo?

R. «Lui era molto tecnologico, mentre io non avevo dimestichezza con l’elettronica. Una volta mi invitò a casa sua e infilò una cassetta con un film “osè” in un uno dei primi videoregistratori, dicendomi che si era sintonizzato su un nuovo canale tv. “Ma come, non lo vedi da casa tua? Vai a farti sistemare l’antenna, ogni sera danno un film diverso”. Ci cascai in pieno e cercai in ogni modo di trovare quel canale».

D. Alcune delle persone che ha amato di più se ne sono andate, eppure lei è sempre ottimista.

R. «Il segreto è pensare positivo senza mai arrendersi. Ho perso amici come Gianni, come Luciano De Crescenzo, come Mario Marenco, ma i ricordi sono talmente belli che mi tengono vivo, è come se fossero ancora tutti con me. Non accetto che se ne siano andati, penso che siano in un’altra casa e un giorno li andrò a trovare. Gianni ci ha fatto sorridere fino all’ultimo, fino a quando, fuori dalla camera ardente, ha voluto che fosse messa una sua foto vestito da suora».

D. Qual è l’ultimo ricordo che ha di lui?

R: «Noi due sul suo letto, poco prima della sua morte, che mangiamo il gelato e ascoltiamo Alto Gradimento».
