I spent way too long putting it together so if you’d like some lyrics highlights/notes I’m putting them under the cut. Generally the playlist follows kim pre/during/post game so it’s best listened non-shuffled the first time.

The title is directly picked from canon dialogue. I think about that Kim quote a lot ngl. As for the songs:

1. - "Another Brick In The Wall" (Part 1) - Steve Morse

2. - "and so I come to isolation" - Moses Sumney

Etymologically, isolation comes from "insula", which means island / I-so-la-tion, isolation which literally means to be islanded / [...] / And I thought, that's exactly what I've been my whole life / I've been islanded

3. - "Tank!" - SEATBELTS

I think it's time we blow this scene / Get everybody and the stuff together / Okay, three, two, one / Let's jam

note: this one is less about the lyrics and more about the vibes. (How did you get so cool, Kim?) Also, it starts with such a bang that I thought it would feel like whiplash, replacing the sadness of the previous song with cool vibes. When I say I’ve been thinking about this playlist for a month I mean it.

4. - "Stuck In The Middle With You" - Stealers Wheel

Clowns to the left of me / Jokers to the right / Here I am stuck in the middle with you / When you started off with nothing / And you're proud that you're a self-made man

5. - "Honest Feedback" - Saint Motel

Of all the illegal ways to take someone's life / There's one just as sharp and it's sharp as a knife / Well it's called honest feedback

6. - "I'm In Love With My Car" - Queen

7. - "El Beach" - The Limiñanas

note: let me preface by saying that The Limiñanas have some of THEE coolest songs out there, very disco elysium vibes, so I really wanted to put one of theirs in. Anyway, If you look up the translation this song is about a man assessing the situation on the beach and the people in it before dipping for a swim. Obviously not 1:1 but if I want to be pretentious I’ll say it’s just like Kim to be observant of the people around him.

9. - "Ghost" - Parek & Singh

Sometimes I get much closer than I intend / The other times I just like to sit out on the fence / Most times I can't even tell the difference / I'm partially a ghost / Don't you get too close

9. - "Cold War" - Janelle Monae

note: this song is sort of an answer to #2, I just wanted to point it out cause the lyrics match each other in a nice way and I was happy about it eheh.

12. - "Children of the Empire" - Weyes Blood

note: If I could I would paste the whole lyrics but this choice boils down to, as I once put it, “songs that are about your ‘I can’t do anything about the state of things’ mindset but you actually could, you’re just too afraid to look on the other side for fear of what you’ll see there.”

13. - "My Silver Lining" - First Aid Kit
