Bit of a rabbit hole I've been diving down tonight, whether there is any legitimacy to the idea that dolphin's sonar has beneficial health effects on humans, as there's some evidence starting to show that it may have healing properties and reduce inflammation in humans. Perhaps that is part of why it's illegal to interact with dolphins except in specific venues.
Hypothesis: The unavailability of studies on dolphin sonar's potential healing effects on humans is deliberate, potentially orchestrated to hide this intriguing knowledge from the public. The theory suggests that the disclosure of such information could lead to harmful human behaviours, like increased dolphin captures or unauthorized interactions, causing wildlife conservation issues. The legislation that limits human-dolphin interaction could partly be driven by this reason on top of ensuring the animals' protection.
Supporting Points (For) 🔭✨👍: 1️⃣ Ethical Interests: If dolphins indeed possess healing abilities, hiding this information could be seen as protecting the species from exploitative practices. 2️⃣ Regulatory Context: Laws limiting human-dolphin interactions could support this thinking, aiming to prevent mass disruption to dolphin populations. 3️⃣ Historical Precedents: There are cases where certain information is kept classified or under-reported to prevent misuse. 4️⃣ Anecdotal Evidence: Existence of therapies like Dolphin Assisted Therapy (DAT) and Dolphin Assisted Birthing which reportedly have positive health benefits, indicating potential therapeutic application of dolphin sonar.
Countering Points (Against) 🌐✨👎: 1️⃣ Lack of Evidence: Currently, there's no solid scientific evidence to support the claim that dolphin sonar can heal humans. 2️⃣ Simpler Explanations: Restrictions on human-dolphin interaction are more likely due to welfare and conservation concerns, not necessarily under a larger conspiracy umbrella. 3️⃣ Research Limitations: Practical difficulties and ethical implications associated with researching this area might explain the absence of plentiful data rather than intentional concealment.

Underworld Civilization: The X-Files by Edward Snowden
Tumblr media
Among the secret information that Edward Snowden gave to mankind, one speaks of the possibility of settling the inner earth by an advanced civilization that has been watching us from the very beginning. It looks a little strange, but the hollow Earth theory may turn out to be close to the truth. A wonderful legend tells about our wise neighbors, these are the people of the underworld of the Earth. Someone considers him a traitor, others consider the act of a tech employee of the special services to be correct. Edward Snowden had the courage to reveal the secrets the world needed to know. Among the published facts, few people who are initiated into the secrets of people tell the truth about UFOs and extraterrestrial beings. And even more so, no one talks about our neighbors from the Earth's underworld. According to some documents copied from the CIA, the US government has long been aware of the existence of a highly intelligent species more advanced than mankind. While we were fascinated by watching the humanoids with their UFOs, they were actually right under our noses. Perhaps they have been around for millions of years, and far ahead of us in technological development.
Tumblr media
Looking more closely at the Earth's geology, we see its hard crust and a rather thin layer of rock that separates the continents and the ocean floor. The crust is found on tectonic plates that move slowly over time in the lithosphere. At the bottom of the tectonic plates, about 80-100 km below the surface, the asthenosphere begins. The internal flow of the Earth moves in the asthenosphere, and the phenomenon of convection at this level is believed to contribute to the constant movement of tectonic plates. True, the exact method and visual representation of the boundary between the lithosphere and the asthenosphere are not yet clear. According to some information allegedly disclosed by Snowden, the CIA has data tracking systems and deep-sea sonar images. However, the status of confidentiality at the highest level forbids access by scientists without special permission from the security service. Moreover, they know about the underground inhabitants of our planet.
Tumblr media
This type of intelligent Homo Sapiens could have evolved in different ways, given the much more stable climate in the interior of the planet. The general consensus is that we are just ants from their point of view. And there is always a possibility that they will interfere in the affairs of our world if we threaten the ecology of the two worlds of one planet with our existence. The presence of uncertainties regarding the internal structure and external world of the Earth leaves room for serious suspicions. Indeed, the Earth's mantle may provide better living conditions for the underworld than on the surface. Jules Verne may have faced something big that could be as real as one can imagine. In the meantime, we are taught to believe that everything related to fiction is rejected by the reality in which we live. But is it really so? Is the material realm in which we live fully explored and understood by the scientific instruments of humanity? Or is it more of a mirage from which we cannot escape unless we open our eyes and see the illusion?
Tumblr media
In one of the assumptions, there is an absurd fear that the people of the underworld might be up to something in relation to the civilization on the surface. With a wave of mysterious sounds that have been heard all over the world, the sounds and groans of the ocean, as well as signals that can be heard from space, it is possible that our inner Earth neighbors are up to something. Whether there is a possibility of a clash of earthly forces with the mythical inhabitants of the distant corners of the Earth, we have yet to find out. But we hope that this historical period of acquaintance will bring a complete disclosure for humanity about life in space. We also hope that the legends in which the people of the underworld of the Earth appear as sages will gain clarity and transparency. Everyone deserves to know and understand what is happening on their home planet.
Tumblr media
Of course, there is no evidence that Snowden actually provided this information. And if he did, it is not known whether this is true. But the story is definitely interesting. Read the full article

Six Baudelaires AU, Part Three {AO3} {Masterlist} {Part One} {Part Two}
Chapter Eighteen → in which Solitude catches a cold
After a while, Solitude found a box of crackers and peanut butter, and called for her siblings and Fiona to come eat with her. They sat around, and Lilac said, “I’m beginning to think this is a fool’s errand.”
“We’re finding nothing but junk.” Solitude huffed.
“Maybe not.” Klaus said. He held up the poetry book he’d found earlier. “Most of this is too damp to read, but the title page says Versed Furtive Disclosure. Meaning that these poems might have secrets or codes.”
Fiona paused, before digging through her pile of items. “I found an envelope earlier. I didn’t open it because I was looking for the Sugar Bowl, but maybe it would be useful.”
“I found a newspaper scrap.” Lilac said. “I, uh, read a bit. Maybe we could discuss what we’ve read while we eat.”
Klaus was already flipping through the book. “Most of these pages are soaked- here’s something! Verse Fluctuation Declaration.”
“Whazzit?” Solitude asked.
“You substitute words in poems.” Klaus said. “There’s an example in here- if you use the poem ‘The Last Duchess’ by Robert Browning, but spell it, ‘My Last Wife’ by ‘Obert Browning’, that would communicate ‘Duchess R.’”
“It’s a substitution.” Lilac said. “Like Aunt Josephine used.”
“There are lots of different codes in VFD.” Fiona sighed. “I don’t know them all.”
“Codes are nothing more than a way of talking so some people understand and some don’t.” Klaus said. “We used VFD phrases to talk to Quigley in the cave.”
Fiona slid forwards, smiling as she skimmed the letter. “Maybe we should make a code of our own.”
“We could use food as codewords.” Lilac said, glancing down at the bottles Solitude had collected. “We’ll draw up a list of foods, and bring them up in conversation so our enemies don’t know anything.”
“Like… ‘poached egg’ means ‘half the battle.’” Klaus said. “Remember when Nick used that metaphor and we punched him for it?”
“Violet punched him for it. We just watched.”
Fiona narrowed her eyes. “I, um, hate to interrupt, but… this letter certainly is interesting.”
“What’s inside?” Lilac asked, scooting over to look over Fiona’s shoulder.
“It’s addressed to Gregor Anwhistle, the guy who ran this place and then died.” Fiona said. “By a woman named Kit. According to her letter, Gregor was involved in something called a schism. What’s that?”
“It was a big conflict within VFD.” Klaus replied. “Quigley knew a little about it, but not much. Everybody chose sides.”
“What side was Gregor on?” Solitude asked, shaking the wasabi jar.
“I don’t know.” Fiona said. “Some of this letter is in code, and some of it in water. It sounds like Gregor was involved in something called Volatile Fungus Deportation.”
“Who was moving unstable mushrooms?” Klaus asked.
“VFD.” Fiona said. “During the schism, Gregor thought the Medusoid Mycelium might be useful. Kit said, ‘The poisonous fungus you insist on cultivating in the grotto will bring grim consequences for all of us. Our factory at Lousy Lane can provide some dilution of the mycelium’s destructive respiratory capabilities, and you assure me that the mycelium grows best in small, enclosed spaces, but this is of little comfort. One mistake, Gregor, and your entire facility would have to be abandoned. Please, do not become the thing you dread most by adopting the destructive tactic of our most villainous enemies: playing with fire.”
Klaus took out his commonplace book, writing fast as Fiona read. “So Gregor was planning to use the mushrooms on the enemies of VFD.”
“He was going to poison people?” Lilac asked.
“Villainous people,” Fiona replied. “But Kit thought that using the poisonous mushrooms was equally villainous. They were working on a way to weaken the poison on Lousy Lane, but she still thought the Volatile Fungus Deportation was too dangerous.”
“And now the center is gone and the mycelium remains.” Lilac said.
“Was Gregor a villain?” Solitude asked, cocking her head.
“I think he was volatile.” Fiona answered, putting an arm around the child. “Like the Medusoid Mycelium. And the writer of this letter says that if you cultivate something volatile, then you’re playing with fire.”
Lilac bit her lip. “We’ve been volatile recently, I’m afraid.”
Fiona put a hand over hers. “Everyone is, I think.”
Solitude looked over their shoulders, and said, “Waning.”
The mushrooms were indeed starting to sink back into the sand behind them.
“Soon it’ll be safe to return.” Klaus said. “We must’ve been here all night.”
“It must be a short cycle.” Fiona said, looking excited at this new information.
“We’ll… discuss this newspaper later.” Lilac said, pocketing it. “Next time we’re somewhere boring.”
“My brother always had a deck of cards with him.” Fiona said. “In case he was in a boring situation. He invented this game called Fernald’s Folly, and we used to play it together when we had a long wait.”
“Fernald?” Klaus asked. “Was that your brother’s name?”
Fiona nodded, not noticing Lilac flinch, and then said, “Soli, why don’t you hand the food to one of your siblings, it should fit in their pockets.”
Soli nodded, passing Klaus the wasabi and Lilac two cannisters, and soon they put on their diving helmets, suiting up for their return journey. Solitude hmmed as Fiona helped her put her helmet back on, saying, “Sand’s inside, I think.”
“It’ll wash out, don’t worry.” Fiona assured her. “Lilac, if you get tired of holding Soli, you can try to pass her to me.”
“Or me.” Klaus volunteered.
“Or I can swim.” Solitude said.
“The current’ll be too strong for someone of your size.” Lilac said. “But we better hurry, before our siblings get into too much trouble.”
“Violet. Violet. Violet.”
Violet sat up, rubbing her eyes. It took her a second to get her bearings; her and Nick had fallen asleep, still hugging; he was groaning at the moment, also blinking sleep from his eyes.
Sunny was sitting on top of Violet, pushing her to try and get her to move. “What?” Violet sighed.
“Sola.” “We’re alone.”
“What?” Violet sat up a bit straighter, helping Nick sit up.
“Senso-orario,” Sunny said, which meant something like, “I fell asleep in the kitchen, and when I woke up, Phil and Widdershins still hadn’t returned, and now I can’t find them anywhere.”
“What do you mean? They’re gone?” Violet asked.
“Where are the others?” Nick bolted upright, terrified.
“Not back.”
“They’re not back?”
Violet leapt to her feet. “We have to check the hatch. See if Phil and Widdershins left, or if the others have returned.”
The three siblings raced out of the room, with Nick holding very tightly onto Sunny. They ran to the ladder that lead up to the hatch, and jumped when they heard a pounding.
“They’re knocking.” Violet said. “That is, unless it’s someone else-”
“Open it!” Nick said.
“I have to activate the valve!” She ran to the side, looking at a control panel. “Shit, shit, shit… here!”
As soon as they heard the valve activate, Violet raced up the ladder and threw open the hatch. And after a second, Lilac leapt down, let out a cry, and threw her arms around Violet, hugging her tight.
“Wow! Fuck! What happened?” Violet said.
“Get inside!” Nick called.
Klaus leapt in, carrying Solitude, and followed by Fiona, who shut the hatch behind them. When they finally descended into the hall, Lilac started to take her helmet off, saying, “What took so long? Where’s everyone else?”
“We don’t know.” Nick admitted; he’d run forwards and thrown his free arm around Klaus and Soli. “We woke up and everyone was gone.”
“That can’t be right.” Fiona said.
They headed down the hall, as Fiona and Lilac started to call for Widdershins and Phil. They made their way to the main room, and stopped.
“Where did the balloons come from?” Nick asked, looking ahead at three balloons, decorated with VFD.
“VFD balloons?” Klaus looked very confused.
“That doesn’t matter.” Violet said. “Where are Widdershins and Phil?”
“Maybe they’re taking a nap.” Lilac said, as she moved to help Klaus remove his helmet.
“No, they’d have wanted to watch you. You would’ve shown up on the sonar.” Violet said, moving to the screen. “They would’ve wanted to make sure you were coming back.”
“Oh no.” Fiona whispered.
They turned, watching as Fiona removed her helmet, shaking slightly. “Fiona?” Lilac asked.
“Their helmets are gone.” Fiona said, numbly. “They had diving helmets here, in case of emergency. They’re… they’re gone. They left the Queequeg.”
“No.” Klaus shook his head. “No, they would’ve waited for us.”
“Not if something else came up.” Fiona said, her voice choked up. “He wouldn’t hesitate.” Lilac walked over to her, putting a comforting hand on her arm, and Fiona carefully leaned onto Lilac’s shoulder.
“Maybe they were captured.” Nick shuddered.
“And their captors left balloons?” Klaus asked, placing Solitude on the ground.
“Don’t worry. We’ll figure this out.” Lilac said. “Just get Solitude’s helmet off, and we can find some sort of clue. There’ll be something, there’s always something.”
Klaus reached forwards, and then froze.
For a moment, he was blank. And then his eyes widened in horror.
“No.” he said.
“What?” Lilac looked over.
“No.” Klaus said. “No, no, no-”
“What?” Nick sounded like all his nightmares were hitting him at once. “What is wrong with her?”
“No.” Lilac realized, and she and Fiona ran forwards and stared, terrified, at the toddler.
Inside Solitude’s hemet, stalks and caps were starting to sprout.
“It’s the Medusoid Mycelium.” Fiona said.
“No.” Violet said, stepping back. “Oh no!”
“No!” Sunny screeched, starting to wail.
“Get her out!” Nick cried, reaching forwards. “Get her out-”
“No!” Fiona said, grabbing onto Solitude and placing her carefully onto the table. “If we open the helmet, the fungus will spread. The entire submarine could become a field of mushrooms!”
“We can’t leave her in there!” Nick screamed.
“She’ll be poisoned!” Lilac shouted.
“She’s already poisoned.” Fiona said, and as she said that, Solitude started to cough.
“I can’t-” Soli began.
“Don’t talk.” Fiona knelt in front of her. “The mycelium has destructive respiratory capabilities, so you need to save your breath. The fungus will be growing inside your throat, and we only have an hour at most. It would be fascinating if it weren’t so horrible.”
“No! No, Soli, no!” Sunny screamed.
“Fiona, please! Get her out of there!” Nick begged, running towards his little sister, gripping so tightly onto Sunny that his knuckles were white. “We can’t lose her!”
“What can we do?” Klaus asked.
“I…” Fiona shut her eyes. “Violet, Lilac, fire up the engines. Klaus, Nick, I need you to help me research an antidote. Sunny, we’ll need you, in case the antidote is culinary.”
“We should help you research. We don’t need-” Violet began.
“No!” Fiona shouted, and she whipped around, and they realized that she was crying. “I am the captain now and that is an order! Get us out of here now while we save your fucking sister!”
Everyone froze, staring.
And then Lilac nodded, and sadly said, “Aye-aye.”
“Lilac-” Violet began.
And then Nick said, “Oh no.”
They turned to him, and saw that he was, shockingly, not watching Solitude, but the sonar screen. He had put Sunny down, which was lucky, because he was now stumbling backwards, his eyes wide. He reached for his arm, and then dug his hands into his pockets, shuddering and struggling to breathe.
“No, no…” he said.
They felt a lurch, and the siblings turned towards the sonar screen, to see what had hit them.
Large, metal tubes had grabbed onto the edge of the Queequeg, and it was slowly pulling them out of the cave, and towards an Octopus-shaped submarine.
Solitude coughed again, and everyone felt their hopes shatter.

Hermit Background 5e
So the Hermit background in 5e incorporates this diamond:
Feature: Discovery
The calm separation of your all-encompassing hermitage gave you access to an extraordinary and amazing discovery. The careful idea of this disclosure relies upon the idea of your confinement. It may be an extraordinary truth about the universe, the divinities, the ground-breaking creatures of the external planes, or the powers of nature. It could be a site that nobody else has ever observed.
You may have revealed a reality that had been for quite some time overlooked, or uncovered some relic of the past that could revamp history. It may be data that would harm the general population who entrusted you to banish, and henceforth your motivation to come back to society." Presently there has been some talk this is a frail background thing, for when you share it with the gathering it quits being exceptionally yours.
So we should think of 101 disclosures. They don't need to be unsharable, however you get extra focuses on the off chance that they are.
Hermit Discoveries:
You can get the discoveries of the hermit 5e background and those interesting features let you know about this d&d 5e background. Why late just check out them.
1 The character is the last scion of an as far as anyone knows terminated illustrious line.
2 The character is the knave posterity of a present regal line.
3 The character knows the name of an extraordinary devil ruler. Under the correct conditions it could be utilized to tie or demolish him, yet can draw in his consideration whenever spoken or composed.
4 The character knows the song that opens the lock on the Tomb of the Lost Muse. What he doesn't know is the place it is.
5 The character knows precisely where and when and to whom an infant will be conceived, who is destined to vanquish the Kingdom in flame and fiery debris 30 years henceforth.
6 The character knows the 11 mystery herbs and flavors.
7 The character knows the area of an unclaimed precious stone sufficiently extensive to be utilized in a True Resurrection.
8 The character knows precisely what occurs after death.
9 The character comprehends the fragrance based language of the shambling hills.
10 The character found a spot where an impression is singed into the ground in gleaming gold, however it has such a large number of toes.
11 The character knows the names on the tombstone of a grave that contains an extraordinary fortune yet not the area of the memorial park.
12 The character knows the area of a memorial park that contains an extraordinary fortune yet not the name on the tombstone in which the fortune is covered.
13 The character has realized why the Gods relinquished us
14 The character realizes how to accomplish godlikeness.
15. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds and lives among a ruin of an idea lost old city/progress. In this way, he knows its area and the extraordinary fortune famous to be inside (which he/she/it, normally, had no enthusiasm for and consequently did not discharge/stir the fear watchman of the ruin).
16. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds and lives among the final individuals of an idea lost antiquated human advancement. Uncovering their area to the outside world would, without a doubt, realize their decimation (they know some mystery enchantment, incredible riches, absence of invulnerability to fundamental illness, no understanding of "contention", and so on and so on. and so on that outside people groups would love to get their hands on/misuse.)
17. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds the changed perspective to see spirits of the dead...but can not address or hear them.
18. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds the modified perspective to hear spirits of the dead...but can not see them (or generally demonstrate what/who the soul really is).
19. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds a jeweled tablet with the expressions of capacity to convey a divinity to the material world.
20. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds a sword and intuits the mantra that changes him into a super-quality savage victor diverting force from some place called "Greyskull." He has no clue what or where that is, however.
21. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds the adjusted perspective/procedure to shapeshift into creature frames (a la druidic shapeshifting).
22. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds/predicts/can figure the excellent design that enables one to know when/where/how/who will cause [or any blend thereof] a worldwide calamity will come to pass for the world. Normally, the PC's activities consider along with the astronomical commencement and may move the time table up or back.
23. In his/her/its hermitage, the character realizes where to discover clean/drinking water...anywhere.
24. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds the modified perspective to address rocks. Shockingly, not all stones speak...and at times what the hermit "hears" is only their own inward ramblings.
25. In his/her/its hermitage, the character finds the modified perspective to address trees. Tragically, not all trees speak...and here and there what the hermit "hears" is only their own inside ramblings.
26 [+infinity]: The hermit had dreams of a free voice letting him know/her/it things. The wellspring of the voice and veracity of what it says (at any rate at first) is obscure. DM's vacation/roulette. Is it something somebody is saying...or just reasoning? Is it a human "genuine" individual/animal or some extraplaner being or soul? Possibly it sounds like some in need/inconvenience?
Perhaps its the plans of a sequential executioner/vampire/evil presence/were-animal uncovering their next injured individual? Perhaps it's simply some everyday person's better half? The hermit doesn't generally know/needs to make sense of it. Anything, truly, goes.
27 [+infinity]: The hermit hears a voice in the breezes. The source or veracity of what the voice says is [at least initially] obscure.
28: The hermit has found [or inadvertently or by the region of some god for obscure reasons] how to in part open their mystic personality and hears the contemplations of somebody they know/used to know preceding their hermitage. 28a: The hermit has an empathic feeling of said person.
29: The hermit has found how to travel through nature landscape unhindered and leaves no tracks anyplace (even in mud, snow, sand, etc...).
30: The hermit found the last realized titan staying on the planet and gathers periodic or irregular Wisdom rewards from his discussions/lessons with him/her/it.
31: The hermit found the shrouded valley of the unicorns (where they mate and raise their young).
32 [+infinity]. The hermit found the mystery kicking the bucket/graveyard of the monsters/holliphants/embed enchanted animal here.
33: The hermit found how to speak with flumphs.
34 [+infinity]: The hermit found how to conquer a specific enchanted assault/impact: look a medusa/basilisk in the eye, inhale (or hold their breath extremely since quite a while ago) harmed gases (green winged serpent breath, gorgon breath, etc...), can cast enchantment in a spectator's enemy of enchantment field, and so forth...
35: The hermit either was or ended up visually impaired in their hermitage and grew/presently has super-hearing/sonar/eco-area a la Daredevil or Thundercats' Lynx-o.
36: The hermit found the FIRST grimoire composed by the FIRST/most prominent enchantment client/spell-caster ever.
37: The hermit found the FIRST religious content/orders, composed by a begetter/long dead divine beings.
38: The hermit found and completed his/her/its hermitage in a cavern containing the prophet/obscure statue of some divinity nobody has ever known about. [whether or not the prophet capacities/talks/tells the hermit anything or not is DM's holiday]
39-41: The hermit found how to peruse the stars and their connection to specific areas that can be utilized as teleportal stages [40: or open/hop entryways to various planes or 41 [+ infinity]: constantly/just a similar plane - like dependably discovers spots to enter/leave the place where there is Faerie]
For more updating and interesting facts about this d&d 5e background hermit, you can use the above given link and it was awesome.

Quote
I have a fairly large, rectangular pool. It measures about 14 feet by 42 feet with has deep and shallow ends. It requires quite a bit of work in terms of cleaning as trees are surrounding it in our backyard. As a consequence, it does get quite a bit of debris throughout the year. From leaves to bark to insects, it tends to accumulate a lot of stuff along the bottom. And you know what that means…cleaning! I have a manual brush and leaf scoop, but honestly, I’m a bit lazy and only occasionally skim the leaves off the surface. For the most part, I barely touch the bottom of the pool. That is until I got my hands on a robot that would do it for me, specifically the Aiper Smart AIPURY1500 robotic pool cleaner! (*Disclosure below.) Despite my laziness, I do realize it is important to keep your pool clean. From scrubbing the walls to remove build-up to getting the submerged leaves off of the bottom to prevent stains that are pretty much impossible to remove, having a regular cleaning schedule is pretty important. But, the other thing you should consider is your own time. Do you have half an hour a couple of times a week to scrub the walls and bottom of your pool? Do you have a long pole with a net to get those stubborn leaves on the bottom of the pool? I’m going to guess if you are anything like me, probably not. Yes, I do have the net and leaf scoop. But I don’t really have a couple of hours a week to regularly follow a maintenance schedule. So, I’m all in with a robot that can do ALL of this work for me and probably do a better job in the process. This is where I happily handed over this responsibility to the Aiper Smart 1500 robotic pool cleaner. I had some questions that I wanted to answer from my testing: How good of a job did the Aiper Smart do? Is it easy to use?Did it pick up debris from the bottom? How did it actually climb up a wall to clean? Is it truly smart? Will all of our jobs be replaced with robots? Well, there is no better way to get the answers to these questions than to just “dive right in” and see if the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner would “sink or swim” with the task of cleaning my pool (sorry about the pool metaphors, well, not really). What is the Aiper Smart AIPURY1500 robotic pool cleaner? The name, robotic pool cleaner, pretty much tells it all. This is a battery-powered device that crawls along the bottom and walls of your pool, cleaning, and scrubbing as it goes. It has quite a large pair of cylindrical brushes on the front, which are used to clean the walls and sweep debris off the bottom into the pool cleaner itself. Inside a door on the top is a screen mesh basket that captures pretty much anything it encounters. There are limitations though, it won’t pull in branches or large, heavy items like rocks or acorns, for example (actually, it was able to suck up a few acorns to my surprise). But, the mesh basket I found to do quite a good job at grabbing the debris and holding quite a lot. And, to my surprise, when I took the mesh basket out, I did find significant amounts of sediment, grit, and small debris. This is actually quite important. Many pool sweeps that may be plumbed into your pool either don’t have the power to pick up sediment (think particles the size of sand or even smaller) or, their debris bags have mesh that is too porous, and the segment simply passes through. Not with the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner. It seems to have the capability of getting all of that “stuff” off of the bottom of your pool. You just have to be sure that you fully clean the mesh basket once the Aiper Smart is done cleaning. I recommend taking the large stuff out by hand and then washing it out well with a garden hose. Also on the top is a switch to turn it on and off and a place that has a rubber, waterproof plug that plugs up where you connect the Aiper Smart to power to charge up the battery. Four rubberized wheels move it along the bottom of the pool and pull it up the sides of a pool. And there is a water vent at the top. I was actually quite surprised at how much water actually flowed through the Aiper Smart cleaner. The motor sucks the water from the bottom of the cleaner into the mesh basket, where all of the debris is captured, and then it is pushed out the top. So in shallow water, it produces quite a disturbance on the surface as it pumps. Why is the Aiper Smart called “smart?” When I think of something being called “smart,” I think it has to have some sort of intelligence and is somehow connected to your Smart Home via the internet or other connections. Only part of this is actually true, and honestly, it makes sense. The intelligence is built into the cleaner itself for the mapping of the pool and how it cleans both the walls and the bottom. However, the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner does NOT connect to anything whatsoever. So, you aren’t notified if the battery is low or if the cleaning is done. Before I go into the actual intelligence of the cleaning process, let me touch on how you know if the battery is charged or low and know when the process is done (as they are related). On the front of this robotic pool cleaner is an LED light which is visible even from the deep end of the pool. When the light is blue and blinking, it means that it is running. And, you can get an idea of how much battery is remaining by how many blue bars you can see. When the battery runs out, this LED light turns yellow. The AIPURY1500 is supposed to head close to a wall of your pool when the battery is about to die. That seems to occur most of the time. Included in the package, along with the charging cable, is a hook that you attach to the end of your pool cleaner rod. The hook easily grabs onto the handle on the top of the Aiper Smart so that you can retrieve it from the bottom of the pool. Once retrieved, you can clean the mesh basket and then let it dry out for a while. This is critical before you plug in the Aiper Smart to charge it up for the next cleaning session. Remember, water and electricity are NOT friends and can be dangerous, so be sure the AIPURY1500 is dry before you plug it in! I’m pretty sure the main reason you cannot connect the AIPURY1500 to an app via Bluetooth or WiFi is because those signals really don’t travel well underwater (if at all). So when you do a cleaning cycle, you basically turn it on and put it in the water and then come back a few hours later to see if it is finished. I recommend checking on it from time to time to ensure it isn’t stuck on a ledge or the stairs. I also found that it was better to run it when your pool equipment is off. Sometimes, the drains at the bottom of the pool can have a significant amount of suction that will trap the AIPURY1500 on top of the drain. This didn’t happen to me though. How does the AIPURY1500 clean? I already mentioned that this robotic pool cleaner has a couple of stages to its “smarts.” When it is fully charged, I recommend taking it to the shallow end of your pool (which can be an in-ground one or an above-ground one), turn it on, and then put it somewhat in the middle of the side. You have a few seconds of time before the wheels start moving and it starts sucking up the water. Once you drop it in, the “smarts” begin to kick in. From my observations of a couple of cleaning cycles, it seems to want to first map the length of the pool, and then it stops somewhat mid-way, and it measures the width. I truly don’t know if it uses internal measuring or sonar or radar or magic to figure everything out. Still, once it does somewhat figure out the size of the pool, it then begins an up-and-down process of climbing the walls all the way to the surface (and even partially out of the water) and then dropping back down to the bottom to start another cleaning climb. Again through my observations, the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner will NOT clean every inch of your wall. But through the law of averages, you will “eventually” get all of the wall surfaces if you run it regularly. Honestly, it may take a bit of time, just from what I observed. Once the wall cleaning is completed, the Aiper Smart will begin working on the bottom of the pool. Starting in the “center” of the pool (it doesn’t seem to be super precise), it will then begin cleaning the bottom in a bunch of diagonal lines (like an asterisk – *). The 3-axis motor will slightly pivot the direction by 15º each time. This process will continue until the battery runs out. One thing to keep in mind, the larger the pool, the longer it will take to clean. As I mentioned, I have a fairly large pool, so I don’t think that I am completely getting the entire pool bottom and walls swept in a single cleaning session. I do feel that the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner is a better fit for smaller pools. The battery is a high-capacity, 8600mAh one. I found that fully charged, it was able to run more than one hour (and maybe hit two hours). Obviously, over time, the battery capacity will be reduced, so keep that in mind. The AIPURY1500 does obviously come with a wall charger. And it does take several hours to charge up fully. An LED light on the plug itself tells you if the battery is low and charging (it shows red) and then when it is fully charged (it shows green). I do wish that the charging cable was more “outdoor-ready.” That is to say, I charge the robotic pool cleaner outside, and I don’t think the charging cable and plug could be left plugged in. It seems to be more of an indoor type. The AIPURY1500 made quite a “splash” in my opinion While I was a bit skeptical initially about a robot cleaning my pool, after watching the Aiper smart AIPURY1500 robotic pool cleaner in action, I was actually quite impressed. It DID climb walls and scrub them all the way to the surface. It DID navigate around my pool and pick up debris from the bottom. It DID successfully navigate onto steps and ledges (and only got stuck a couple of times). And it DID vacuum up sediment from the bottom, something that simple brushing could NOT do. So, how much does the AIPURY1500 robotic pool cleaner cost? Well, it honestly isn’t cheap. But you do have to think about the amount of time it would take you to do the same task. Or to pay someone else to do it. And do that cleaning process regularly. The AIPURY1500 retails for $1099.99, but on the site, it is on sale for $599.99 (which I think is a bit more realistic). It is also available on Amazon for $599.99. The nice thing is, there aren’t any parts that you have to continue purchasing later (unless you get a hole in the basket – I don’t know if or how you can replace the batteries later either). Buy on HighTechDad The product shown below (and related products that have been reviewed on HighTechDad) is available within the HighTechDad Shop. This review has all of the details about this particular product and you can order it directly by clicking on the Buy button or clicking on the image/title to view more. Be sure to review other products available in the HighTechDad Shop. Aiper Smart AIPURY1500 Robotic Pool Cleaner Review $599.99 Buy on Amazon Overall, adding the Aiper Smart robotic pool cleaner to your pool’s maintenance is probably a good thing. You will keep the walls and bottom clean of algae (assuming your chemical are balanced), remove sediment and other debris from the bottom, and regularly brush the sides, which is an important task to regularly do (and something that this lazy pool owner doesn’t really do…until now with the Aiper Smart)! a script from a science fiction movie, Top Gun-trained fighter pilots from the Nimitz were unfairly engaged with and attempting to intercept something that could only be described as extraordinary. What the pilots encountered that day was able to perform in ways that defied all logic and our current understanding of aerodynamics. Furthermore, beyond what the pilots saw with their own trained eye, the technological feat they encountered was further verified by the impressive Aegis SPY-1 radar, America’s premiere radar system at the time, and even gun camera footage and sonar systems from submarines accompanying the carrier.

The D.C. police department subpoenaed Facebook for information regarding several protesters arrested while demonstrating against the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Jan. 20.
A document obtained on Monday by CityLab shows the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia issued a subpoena to Facebook on Jan. 27, which was signed by an officer at the police department. The document appears to show D.C. police are looking for the social data of several protesters.
Police arrested more than 200 people during the inauguration protests, including journalists. Defense attorney Benjamin Carraway almost immediately filed a class-action lawsuit against D.C. and park police, alleging officers had corralled peaceful demonstrators and used chemicals in attempts to control them.
D.C. police said no one at the department could comment on the subpoena given the lawsuit. A Facebook representative said the company doesn't "comment on individual requests," though the company's law enforcement guidelines might offer a glimpse of what's ahead.
"A valid subpoena issued in connection with an official criminal investigation is required to compel the disclosure of basic subscriber records," the guideline reads. Those records "may include: name, length of service, credit card information, email address(es), and a recent login/logout IP address(es), if available."
Issuing a subpoena is a more direct way for police to try to get the social data of people they have their eye on, but law enforcement departments are often trying to obtain social data from protesters in one way or another. Officers ask Facebook to tap into messages sent on the social network as well as messages sent on WhatsApp, which Facebook owns. They have also used social media monitoring services such as Geofeedia, Media Sonar, Digital Stakeout and others to track the social accounts of protesters in real time.
This time, though, police swept up protesters in mass arrests and kept their phones. Many arrestees were charged with felony rioting, and police have reportedly mined their phones for whatever evidence they might obtain. What they can't get with a phone in their hand, they'll try to get from Facebook.

Original Post from Rapid7 Author: boB Rudis
We’ve provided quite a bit of information and education on WannaCry, Petya-like ransomware, and EternalBlue over the past two years. Rather than take a cue from a bad ‘80s sitcom and write a warbly-vision retrospective post, let’s take a look at the current attacker landscape related to both EternalBlue and ransomware in general, along with some lessons that have clearly not been learned since the emergence of the exploits leaked by the Shadow Brokers. Don’t worry, though—we’ll close with a bit of hope for the future.
Do [they] really want to hurt [you]? (Hint: yes)
Depending on how you scan, where you scan from, and what you are trying to count when it comes to finding exposed Microsoft Windows Server Message Block (SMB) nodes on the internet, you’ll get a number anywhere between 500,000 to 1 million. The range is due to whether you are an ethical internet scanner and obey opt-out requests and use well-identified scanner nodes (like Rapid7’s Project Sonar) or whether you just cast ethics to the wind and find ways to cut corners and even use compromised devices to tally up an inventory.
Even though half a million or 1 million nodes seems like a big number, neither is truly accurate, since many regional internet service providers have blocked extranet access to the common service ports associated with Microsoft SMB since EternalBlue-based exploits became commonplace.
Regardless of the precise number, there are plenty of vulnerable nodes on the internet for attackers to practice against, with more appearing daily due to the advent of dynamic systems provisioning in cloud environments. And, practice they do:
NOTE: The dip around December 2018 you see in the above figure is due to some rejiggering of our Project Heisenberg nodes, and the significant elevation in daily totals in 2019 is due to Rapid Labs expanding from 150 to 250 honeypot nodes with a significantly larger presence in the southern hemisphere.
EternalBlue-based SMB probes and attacks are absolutely part of the “new normal” of background noise on the internet, with attackers—opportunistic or otherwise—testing out some form of their latest and greatest code and techniques with almost perfect immunity so they can have even more success once they gain a foothold in your organization.
Despite an overall upward trend (the dotted lines) for unique and total activity, there are a couple somewhat interesting observations in the Heisenberg SMB charts. First, the increase in honeypot regional coverage did not result in the detection of more unique attacker sources—that is (thankfully), the attackers interested in SMB enumeration do not have infinite IPv4 capacity at their disposal.
To uncover the second notable observation, let’s just focus on SMB attacker activity since January 2019:
We’re more than five months into the year, and the count-based trend is heading downward. Yes, that’s right—there appears to be a diminishing focus on enumerating and compromising internet-facing SMB servers. If you’re thinking, “So what? There’s still quite a bit of traffic and it’s a minor trend!” you should consider applying to one of the open positions in our Data Science team, since that is a great first, data-driven call. However, if this trend continues, it may be a signal that attackers are moving on from EternalBlue/SMB-based targets and are focusing on other things. Since we have no clear evidence of what the “next big thing” will be just now, it’s hard to provide guidance on what to look forward to in six to 12 months. However, we are combing our planetary-scale data daily and keeping keen eyes on the threat events and incidents facing our Managed Detection and Response customers and will be sure to note any posits in future blog posts and quarterly threat reports.
Waking up with the house on fire (Ransomware is everywhere)
The popular internet security news aggregation site Bleeping Computer has a regular feature called “This Week in Ransomware.” That should give you some idea of how prevalent this topic and threat tactic is. WannaCry and NotPetya were built as attack tools that use EternalBlue components to accomplish their goals. Despite this being a “WannaCry retrospective,” the truth is that ransomware comes in many shapes and sizes and has not gone away despite many pundits diminishing this threat vector all throughout 2018. One big reason for the quantifiable reduction in ransomware attacks can be inferred from this Bitcoin price chart from CoinMarketCap:
Ransoms are generally tied to digital currency and most digital currencies ebb and flow with Bitcoin’s price. So, when a given currency market is bottoming out, it doesn’t make much sense to try to gain illicit funds that way, especially using a technique that generally requires a decent amount of human interaction and support infrastructure.
As prices have stabilized and even begun to take on an upward trend, there is a renewed focus on this attack vector, with many ill-resourced organizations—such as state and local governments and government agencies—bearing the brunt of these renewed attack efforts.
The big issue is that these attacks are wildly successful in at least the disruption and destruction phases (most victims of publicly disclosed ransomware attacks do not pay or at least do not admit to paying the ransom demands). You can investigate this yourself by a lightweight search on DataBreaches.net. In most of these incidents, it was apparent that:
Attackers were generally successful due to good phishing campaigns and their ability to take advantage of poor system maintenance practices within impacted organizations.
Victims take quite a while to recover from successful attacks because they do not have robust and practicable backup, restoration, and digital disaster recovery plans.
Your organization absolutely needs to invest in front-line phishing defenses such as DMARC and wicked-modern anti-phishing awareness programs. You also need to ignore pundits who tell you not to patch your systems and level up your vulnerability management program to make it harder for attackers use known system weakness to accomplish their goals.
You also need to ensure you’ve focused on a super-important CIS Critical Control: data recovery capability. This means you need to know which systems are critical to your business or operational processes and what data is needed to get mission-critical jobs done every day.
Don’t mind if I do (Learning lessons from those who learned lessons)
You don’t need to take our word for it. Both Maersk and, more recently, Norsk Hydro provide lessons that should be taken to heart.
Both suffered from powerful ransomware attacks and both underscore the need to be able to transition to manual processes during recovery efforts (which means you need a recovery plan).
In fact, you should take some time to read up on the Norsk Hydro attack, since it’s not only a lesson in how to prepare for and recover from such an attack, but it’s also the gold standard of how to handle a very public breach with impressive, regular disclosure, sharing of indicators, and radical transparency.
Hopefully, your organization will never have to deal with a ransomware attack, but relying on hope isn’t a great cyberdefense strategy. Take stock of your ability to prevent and recover from ransomware-based attacks, talk to your industry peers and information-sharing groups to get an idea of prevalence and likelihood, and draft effective resilience and response plans. Doing so may help avoid the need for a “WannaCry: Three Years Later” retrospective.
