How does the existence of Branded doom Laguz? They don't have to mate with Beorc, they can still have kids with each other.

Tellius's world basically says :

La + Be -> Br + Be (- 1 gamete)

Note the lack of Laguz or they are the energy used for the conversion and creation of the branded, Beorc loses 1 gamete but Laguz uses their existence as energy to trigger the reaction

More seriously,

Why the Laguz loses its power? No one knows. It's just something that happens. Why isn't the Beorc hit with something as punishing as the Laguz is? idk.

Ergo, Laguz can survive as long as they don't mingle too much with Beorcs, they can only pretend to be "equal" races as long as they don't live with Beorcs because when they do, the Laguz disappear.

Sure, the individual still exist, but they're not a Laguz anymore, their laguz self effectively dies when a Branded is conceived.

Of course it's not the Branded's fault, they simply exist ! But it's that stupid "->" conversion law that is terrible, and explains why Beorcs are superiors to Laguz : they still exist after the conversion.
