Choosing Disability Employment Services Providers
Disability Employment Services Providers are organisations that help people with disability prepare for work, find work and keep a job. They also support employers to incorporate practices that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace. The government provides these services free of charge for Australians with disability. Choosing the right Disability Employment Services Provider is essential for individuals and their families who want to be successful in the workforce. The best Disability Employment Services providers will be able to provide a personalised service that takes into account the individual’s goals, interests, abilities and preferences.
The government is overhauling the Disability Employment Services system to make sure that the people who need it are getting the most out of their service. This includes removing funding for providers that don’t meet certain performance benchmarks, such as how many people they place into jobs that last at least a year. The new scheme is set to start in 2022. The Minister for Social Services, Amanda Rishworth, says that some providers haven’t been able to improve their performance and are now at risk of losing funding.
While some of the 104 DES providers will be able to continue offering services, eight will have their funding cut entirely. Rishworth says the government is taking action to ensure that people with disability who want to get into work are given every opportunity to do so.
People with disabilities often report that meaningful work is good for them in terms of self-esteem, financial security and community involvement. It can also help them build relationships with their peers, which can be helpful if they have trouble in other areas of life. In addition, working can be a great way to reduce social isolation, which can have negative health outcomes for those with disabilities.
Those who have a disability, injury or health condition can access Disability Employment Services to help them prepare for and find work. They may also need occasional support at work to help them succeed in their job for the long term. Disability Employment Services providers are a mix of large, medium and small for-profit and not-for-profit organisations that have experience supporting people with disability.
The best Disability Employment Services Providers will be able to understand the unique needs of each individual, and can tailor their support to suit them. They will be able to offer a wide range of different services, including preparing for a job interview, training and workplace adjustments. They will also assist with the transition into employment and ongoing support in the workplace.
When selecting a Disability Employment Services provider, it’s important to ask about the type of services they offer and whether they can provide them in your local area. It’s also worth finding out if they specialise in any particular areas, as this will help you to decide if they are the right fit for your needs. You should also check how well they communicate with their clients, as this will give you an idea of how responsive they will be.
At Ability Reach Care, people are our number one priority as they have the control and options to choose their best preferences. As a disability services provider, our highly experienced and dedicated support team works passionately to connect with individuals with disabilities and their families to establish trustworthy professional relationships.

A man applies for a government job at the Post Office. The interviewer asks him, “Are you allergic to anything?” He replies, “Yes, caffeine. I can’t drink coffee.
”Ok, Have you ever been in the military service?”
“Yes,” he says, “I was in Afghanistan for one tour.”
The interviewer says, “That will give you extra points toward employment.” Then he asks, “Are you disabled in any way?”
The man says “yes, a bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles”
The interviewer is shocked, but assures the man that his disability qualifies him for extra points. “You got the job, sir. Most of us come in at 8am, but you can start tomorrow at 10am.”
“Why do I get to start late?” Asked the man.
“This is a government job. For the first couple hours we just drink coffee and scratch our balls. No point in you coming in for that.”

i love your thoughtful posts and your patience in answering questions, was wondering if you had read transgender marxism and if so what did you think of it? ty!
thank you 💖💖
i put off answering this ask specifically to read transgender marxism. i hadn't realized, going in, that it was an anthology of essays rather than a book with a single thesis and thread. having worked through them all i have to say... i was underwhelmed.
a few of the essays (e.g. queer workerism against work and seizing the means) read as restatements, using assorted theoretical widgets, of the rote fact that aspiration toward class consciousness and proletarian revolution demands that we organize with a consciousness of transness. true! moving on.
a few others (trans work employment trajectories, notes from brazil, dialogue on deleuze) felt like re-presentations of known knowns and (sorry!) kind of pedestrian to work thru.
several of the later essays (and especially the afterword, which as far as i could tell misrepresented at least JGP in histories of the transgender child and possibly even metabolic rift) bored me near to tears and were difficult to distinguish from the wordplay of theorizing purely in the realm of ideas. i'm pretty sure i think "‘Why Are We Like This?’: The Primacy of Transsexuality" by xandra metcalfe is just wrong and plays into racialist constructions of the plasticity of the subject while trying to construct an image of liberation.
that said, I had some favourites that i would recommend:
Encounters in Lancaster by JN Hoad. i posted an excerpt of this one recently. the analogies to atomism, the conception of the aleatrix, the image of heterosexuality as the swerving stream that sweeps us up in its currents—i thought it was beautiful and sharp.
The Bridge Between Gender and Organising by Farah Thompson. also posted an excerpt of this one. just a good autobiographical account with clear upshots of one subjectivity of organizing for a Black trans woman
A Queer Marxist Transfeminism: Queer and Trans Social Reproduction by Nat Raha. this is a critical recommendation (i think there is a classic overuse/misapplication of "femme" thru the text) but the concept of "gender labour" (not gendered labour!) and of the transfeminine subject as being relegated to the lowest, informal and unwaged rung of performing this labour in service of gender maintenance is something that will stay with me
i also enjoyed Transgender and Disabled Bodies: Between Pain and the Imaginary by Zoe Belinsky. don't have too much to say about this one. here's an excerpt tho: "The organism creates her own foundation: she continually creates the being of her own species – the condition for creating the ‘I can’. She continually creates her capacity to create that species-being and the ‘I can’. She does this through the collective labour of organisms labouring in common, in order to coordinate themselves as sensory parts in a higher organism. The labourers must move from particularity to generality in order to establish the general horizon of transformative possibilities: the inorganic body – institutions, tools of culture – that support the creative capacity of the human body."

CN suicide, political and systemic ableism
In Irish politics, we almost never had disabled people be anything more than props for use for photo ops, or to demonise as welfare cheats
In Irish politics, we talked about the hard work of our carers once in a rare while, but never the hard work of disabled people being cared for or looking after ourselves
In Irish politics, disabled people are objects of pity, and not people trying to get through our days as denizens and citizens of our country which often tells us that we do not belong here
In Irish politics, we protect the facade of a colonial era building before we'll put in a ramp or lift to let a disabled person who needs it go inside
In late 2023 a Green Paper was published on reforming payments to disabled people in ways that meant we would be under more regular surveillance, be pressured into employment services or potentially risk sanction, and be under pressure to work enough to stop receiving payments. It would also tier us depending on how disabled we could prove we are
This document was made without Disabled Persons' Organisations involved, in direct contravention of our recently won rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of People With Disabilities
It led many, including myself, to absolute despair, and I had the worst suicidal ideation I'd had in nearly six years
The only thing that kept me alive was a promise to keep fighting it alongside my fellow disabled people just for a little bit longer, but it got pretty close at times
We didn't really expect to win, but one day after seven months of fighting, we somehow did
The government backed down Disabled people will be part of any future attempts at reform
We even got the Dáil to declare that there should be non means tested, universal disability payments, even if the government is nowhere near that sort of position yet
But as much headspace as that took up, and as big as that victory was, the day to day thriving of disabled people in Ireland remains blocked by a system designed to keep taxes on corporations low and the costs of disability high
In watching the last Disability Matters Committee, there was case after case of how disabled people are being failed by the state, with the politicians on the committee hearing the stories and wondering how many more times they were going to have to hear the same things before there is action by the government
The committee has had report after report to the Dáil stating the dire problems with disabled rights in Ireland and nonetheless, the government decided to put out that Green Paper which ignored all of their recommendations and did more harm to disabled people. Nonetheless, the government have cut services and underfunded our needs
People unable to have their vehicles adapted because they didn't lose the correct limb
People left without insurance for their prosthetics
People unable to access personal assistance hours
People not able to live their lives
So I painted something to express how our politics treats our lives
It took me awhile but here it is
[A Dáil chamber with disabled supports, like mobility equipment, sensory equipment, comfort items, masks, and laptops, overturned and empty on the floor. Blood is spattered on the carpet and equipment]

im job searching again and theres one near me thats like art therapy (it says 'instructor' but the job description sounds more like art therapy) for a disability center but it would require me coming up with a curriculum and all this other teacher shit and i really dont know if id be capable of that. my sister is a teacher so she's constantly trying to convince me id be a good teacher because that's what she does. it's what she knows and likes and so she assumes it's the most important thing anyone can do. like the same way people tell me id be a good mom when i have zero if not negative desire to ever be around children let alone in charge of their welfare. at this point i feel like just giving myself to the lowest bidder because i cannot envision a future for myself or consider my own needs or dreams at all.
maybe if i were at a stage in my life where i could be more cerebral i might be capable of something like coming up with curricula and lessons but right now im so mentally and socially and academically (and honestly, physically) atrophied that i need something really fucking small and simple just to get me being a person again. which dept of rehab was supposed to be helping me with but theyre completely useless. i have so few employable skills and even the things i know i dont seem to do well enough to get employed. id desperately want to learn but nobody trains anymore and although i yearn to go back to school or take classes or any kind of training at all everything has inherent covid risk unless it's fully remote.
i should probably just look into volunteer work or something to get me living again but again covid risk has hamstrung most of what i would consider to be good opportunities. i dunno man i just feel so stuck. every moment i progress a little more, something yanks me back. either i keep failing to be functional for more than a month at a time, or i get wildly abused in the workplace (a la amazon), or i risk lc/stroke/death because masking is 'bad customer service'. at the same time im starting to accept that this is really truly what life is going to be like for me from here on out. it's taken four years but it's starting to actually settle in that this is life, it's not a nightmare i can wake up from, and i am no longer in a passing storm that im trying to wait out. the storm will not end, it's going to keep raining, and i have to figure out how to live underwater. even though i could very easily die from the pressure and lack of air (and so could everyone else but they "cant live in fear!!1") i have to just find a way to survive under the crushing depths.
i honestly dont know what i have to live for or what kind of future there could ever be for me but since i couldnt even kill myself i guess i have to be around for it.

I'm starting my new job for real tomorrow and i'm so anxious.
So after months of unemployment i finally got a job. Well its technically not a job it more like paid community service. Its called Mandy's Farm and its part of the Americorps program, I am serving as a part of the Vamos program. We provide employment services and adult skills training to developmentally disabled people between 14-25 years old. Plenty of other things but I suggest a google to get the full picture.
For context I am 19 years old and have a background in daycare and special needs students, more importantly I am AuDHD and disabled as well. I've come into this field because of a deep desire to help my people and other community members. I crave advocacy, I've always wanted to feel like i'm actually helping people, I want to be in the trenches. So far everyone is super accommodating and nice so i really don't have anything to worry about. I'm just meeting a lot of people in person who have heard a lot about me presumably and that is really anxiety provoking. What about the students? They seem super nice but im still really worried about people not liking me. Plus there are likely disabilities that I have yet to encounter that I will have to adjust to and learn about which isn't a bad thing at all that's fine. But what if I mess up?? What if I get overstimulated and shy?
This is definitely a step up the professional ladder for me which is unnatural. I was prepared to go back to Joann's or worse. I'm still super broke but I can already tell that i'm going to be so much happier. I hope I can get along with everyone, people think i'm knowledgeable which in my opinion is quite a high compliment. Weirdly enough my daycare experience already appears to be more relevant than I thought same thing with my performing arts school background. I hope there are people that I can relate to and that relate to me. Currently i'm just listening to Death cab for Cutie and a Cewpins Vod (highly recommend if you smoke at all!!) because after training I was just totally wiped and got home and did my routine.
We had to go to home depot to get a replacement toilet handle because you gotta love cheap apartments. :)
Get home (BF does the toilet because im wiped out).
Immediately do a hugeeeee afterwork dab.
Chill high as fuck for a bit.
Order food reluctantly.
Wait for than eat the food.
Try to stay up.
Fail.
Pass out in an unnatural position with lights on and everything.
Have random sex because fuck it lol.
Sleep part 2.
Wake up.
Computer at like 1:15 am
Get your stimulation of choice.
Dab again.
Get anxious then hop on tumblr to vent.
So that's pretty much it. Jacob is still asleep. He's still frustrated and depressed understandably so but the difference is that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and he cant seem to yet, I guess it feels a little closer for me... Things have been really hard lately,,, our guinea pig Boston died a few days ago.. We haven't been able to bury him yet so he's just in our freezer... Which sucks because I don't cook really so I cant use my freezer so like pretty much all my food. I would like to get some closure. He's definitely still haunting me.
My only IRL friend I live near has Covid and her whole family including her 1 year old daughter is sick.. I just got over Covid and it sucks ass. She said she got it from work but its fucking everywhere again where i'm at so who even knows.
I also cant find my goddamn wallet!! I have google pay and everything but i still need my damn wallet!! Im frustrated because this is the seccound important wallet I have not been able to to find and i cant get fucked over again. If any witches have some lost object spells or tips id genuinely appreciate it i'm pretty desperate.
I have a feeling this new job is definitely going to keep me busy, Another huge advantage is when I finish my service I get an education award that can go to past of future collage payments. I could attempt to start collage... god who knows I still cant drive I still can only manage 6th grade math. I wish that I was competent at math i never have been.
I say 6th grade roughly it could be better but it is likely even worse than i think it is. I have serve trauma relating to a math teacher I had in middle school and then highschool. It goes back even farther because you know how undiagnosed learning disabilities are. The school had to intervene because he was my only option for a math class. Long story short I ended up getting a free math credit in 8th grade where during the period id just sit in the deans office and use it as a "study hall". Listened to some great music in that "class" i was often productive but not in the ways that people wanted me to lol.
I'm debating hoping on some Khan academy or something just because i resent math so hard I need to conquer it. Plus if I'm planning on college (which I am) I want to be ready for gen eds. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my brain is scrambled i just want my ebt card bro. Im outta fooddddd. I miss money, Is it time to talk to rich art school friend?? Is that unethical?? Alan if youre reading this id appreciate whatever is possible <3 ( kidding not kiddingggg)

SSDI Approval Rate by Age: A Comprehensive Guide
Applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can be a challenging and often frustrating process, and your age can play a significant role in whether your SSDI application is approved. The Social Security Administration (SSA) uses a variety of factors to determine eligibility, but one of the most significant is age. In this article, we'll explore how age affects your chances of approval and how seeking professional assistance from an SSDI attorney can increase those chances.
Understanding the SSDI Process
The SSDI application process is notoriously complex and can be difficult to navigate without help. The SSA evaluates each case based on medical records, work history, and the severity of the applicant's disability. However, the approval rate is not uniform for all age groups. This means that, depending on your age, you might face varying levels of scrutiny.
SSDI Approval Rate by Age
Statistics show the SSDI approval rate by age. Here's a breakdown of how age affects approval:
Younger than 30: For applicants under 30, the approval rate is the lowest. This is because younger individuals are generally perceived to have better recovery potential, making it harder to prove long-term disability. Their work history is also typically shorter, which may affect their eligibility for benefits.
Ages 30-49: In this age group, the approval rate starts to rise but remains lower than for older applicants. People in this age range are still considered to be of working age, and the SSA may assume that they can retrain for different jobs, especially if their previous work history shows a variety of roles.
Ages 50-54: The SSA introduces the concept of "grid rules" for applicants over 50, which significantly improves the chances of approval. These rules take into account the applicant's age, education level, work experience, and the severity of the disability. The SSA recognizes that retraining becomes more difficult with age, thus increasing the likelihood of an approved claim.
Ages 55 and Older: For individuals 55 and older, the approval rate is the highest. This is because the SSA is more lenient toward applicants in this age group, acknowledging that it is harder for older adults to adapt to new work roles or learn new skills. Age combined with the SSA’s grid rules often results in a smoother approval process for older applicants.
Why Age Matters in SSDI Applications
The reasoning behind these age-based differences lies in the SSA's expectation that younger individuals are more likely to recover from their conditions or adapt to different forms of work. Conversely, as applicants age, their ability to transition into new employment becomes more limited. Therefore, applicants over 50, especially those nearing retirement age, have a significant advantage when applying for SSDI.
How an SSDI Attorney Can Help
No matter your age, navigating the SSDI application process can be overwhelming. An experienced SSDI attorney can assist you in gathering the necessary documentation, filing the correct paperwork, and representing you in the event of a denial. Hiring an attorney, especially one from a reputable firm, can significantly improve your chances of getting your claim approved.
If you're thinking, "I need SSDI attorneys near me," you should seek out professionals who understand the SSA’s regulations and can help guide you through the maze of bureaucracy. With expert guidance, your chances of approval—no matter your age—can improve substantially.
Conclusion
In summary, your age plays a crucial role in determining the approval rate of your SSDI application. While younger individuals face more challenges, applicants aged 50 and older benefit from the SSA's more lenient grid rules. Regardless of your age, working with an SSDI attorney can make a substantial difference in the outcome of your case.

Everything You Need to Know About Free PMVA Training Near Me
PMVA training is essential for many healthcare professionals, particularly those working in mental health settings. But what exactly is it, and where can you find free PMVA training near you? If you're searching for PMVA training in Birmingham, want to explore different PMVA training courses, or are curious about the options for free online PMVA training, this article has you covered.
Introduction to PMVA Training
PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training equips professionals in healthcare and social care settings with the skills to manage challenging behaviour. Whether you're working in mental health, learning disabilities, or another field where violence might occur, PMVA training provides essential strategies to ensure safety for both staff and service users.
So, how can you access free PMVA training near me or in specific locations like Birmingham? Let’s dive into the details.
Why PMVA Training is Important
Violence in healthcare settings can be unpredictable. That’s why PMVA training is crucial. It teaches healthcare professionals how to de-escalate situations, using techniques like verbal interventions and non-restrictive physical interventions. Imagine trying to navigate a storm without a map; PMVA training is that guide that helps you manage unpredictable situations with confidence and clarity.
What Does PMVA Training Involve?
PMVA training courses typically cover:
Risk assessment: Understanding triggers and risks.
De-escalation techniques: Learning verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to calm aggressive individuals.
Physical interventions: Safe techniques to manage violent situations.
Post-incident support: Dealing with the aftermath of a violent event.
These elements ensure that healthcare professionals are well-prepared to maintain a safe environment.
Free PMVA Training Near Me
If you’re looking for free PMVA training near me, it’s possible to find some options. Various NHS trusts and local authorities provide free or subsidized training for their staff. You can also check with local healthcare organisations, charities, or education institutions for any free programs available in your area. While completely free PMVA training might be harder to come by, there are often low-cost options for individuals willing to self-fund or apply for grants.
PMVA Training in Birmingham
Birmingham is a hub for healthcare professionals, making it a prime location for PMVA training. Many local training centres offer courses, including in-person and online options. Whether you’re part of the NHS or work in a private healthcare setting, PMVA training in Birmingham is accessible and designed to meet the city's diverse needs.
Where to Find PMVA Training in Birmingham?
NHS Trusts: Check your local NHS employer for in-house training.
Private Training Providers: Some companies in Birmingham offer accredited PMVA courses tailored to different healthcare settings.
Colleges and Universities: These often provide PMVA training as part of health and social care programs.
PMVA Training Courses: What Are the Options?
PMVA training courses come in different levels, depending on the job role. Here’s a breakdown:
Basic Level: For those new to healthcare, focusing on de-escalation and minimal intervention.
Intermediate Level: Adds on physical intervention techniques for more challenging settings.
Advanced Level: Comprehensive training involving high-risk scenarios and restrictive physical interventions.
Each course is designed to meet the specific needs of the learners, ensuring you get the most relevant skills for your job.
PMVA Training Free Online
With the rise of e-learning, many providers now offer PMVA training free online. While these may not include practical physical intervention sessions, they are a fantastic way to learn the theory behind violence prevention and de-escalation techniques. You can often find free introductory courses from online learning platforms or healthcare charities.
Pros of PMVA Training Online:
Flexible Learning: Study at your own pace.
Accessibility: No need to travel; learn from anywhere.
Cost-effective: Free or low-cost options available.
That said, practical skills are best learned in person, so a combination of online and in-person training might be the ideal approach.
How to Find PMVA Training Near You
Whether you're searching for PMVA training near me or in a specific location like Birmingham, here are a few tips:
Google Searches: A simple search can yield local training providers.
Social Media: Join healthcare groups on Facebook or LinkedIn, where many advertise upcoming PMVA courses.
Ask Your Employer: Many employers, especially in healthcare, will provide or fund PMVA training.
Is Free PMVA Training Worth It?
The idea of free training is always appealing, but is it worth it? The answer largely depends on the quality of the training. Free courses, especially those offered by reputable organisations like the NHS or well-known charities, are usually worth the time investment. However, if the course is not accredited or lacks practical elements, it might not be as beneficial.
Benefits of Completing PMVA Training
Completing a PMVA course offers a range of benefits:
Increased Confidence: You’ll feel more prepared to handle violent or aggressive situations.
Career Advancement: Many healthcare jobs require PMVA certification.
Safety: You’ll contribute to a safer environment for both staff and patients.
What to Expect in a PMVA Course
A typical PMVA course will include both theory and practical elements. Expect to learn about the psychological aspects of aggression, how to defuse situations verbally, and physical intervention techniques that are safe and legal. The course is usually hands-on, with trainers guiding you through scenarios that mimic real-life incidents.
PMVA Training Certification
After completing the course, you will receive a certification, which is essential for many healthcare roles. This certification demonstrates that you have the necessary skills to manage violence and aggression safely and professionally.
Maintaining PMVA Skills
Like any skill, PMVA techniques can become rusty over time. It’s recommended that you refresh your PMVA training every year or two, especially if you frequently encounter high-risk situations at work. Many providers offer refresher courses that focus on both theory and practical skills.
PMVA and Career Growth
If you’re looking to advance your career in healthcare, completing PMVA training can be a huge asset. Many employers, especially in mental health and social care, view PMVA certification as a key qualification. It can open doors to roles with greater responsibility and higher pay.
Conclusion
PMVA training is a vital component of healthcare and social care, providing the skills needed to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively. Whether you're seeking free PMVA training near me, enrolling in PMVA training in Birmingham, or exploring online PMVA courses, the key is to choose the right program that fits your needs.
This training not only enhances your career prospects but also ensures a safer working environment for everyone involved.

What Does an Early Childhood Support Worker Do?
Working with children of all ages and their parents is one of the most rewarding jobs in society. Early Childhood Support Workers help to create safe, happy environments in which young people can learn and thrive.
A person in this role will work closely with a child, and their family, to develop a support plan, which addresses individual needs. This may involve planning learning activities for the child, organising trips and other experiences, or providing home-based support. They also communicate with families, practitioners and other support professionals about a child’s progress and any problems they have identified.
Support workers can find employment in a variety of settings, including schools, daycare centres, community organisations and private businesses. They can also be self-employed and operate a home-based child care service. They often need to be licensed by the state, and have a certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Many states and employers require childcare workers to hold a nationally recognised credential, such as the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential offered by the Council for Professional Recognition.
There are various definitions of the term ‘support worker’, but most involve helping individuals to cope with a variety of different life situations. Some, such as those who help people with physical disabilities, focus on assisting individuals with daily tasks like washing, dressing, eating and getting around. Others, such as those who help people with mental health conditions or learning difficulties, provide a more holistic approach.
A career as an early years support worker can be extremely rewarding, especially when it comes to caring for children with special educational needs or disabilities, referred to as SEND. Children at this age go through a lot of developmental changes, so there are a wide range of challenges that you will be expected to assist with.
It is important to understand the nuances of SEND and how to support children with differing needs, so it’s essential that you have excellent communication skills. You will be required to attend training sessions specific to the needs of the child you are supporting. You will also be expected to support them outside of the workplace – for example, during home visits.
As well as planning and delivering activities, a support worker will need to keep detailed records of a child’s progress, their likes and dislikes and any other relevant information that may help you support them. You will be required to have good IT skills and an understanding of the legal framework that governs this area of work.
While there are many federal data sources that are available, it can be difficult to identify those who work with children. Brandon explains that there are a number of concerns with the existing federal definitions, which do not clearly distinguish between occupations (roles and functions) and sectors or industries (organizations or establishments). This can lead to inconsistent definitions, which can impact research and policy making.
At Ability Reach Care, people are our number one priority as they have the control and options to choose their best preferences. As a disability services provider, our highly experienced and dedicated support team works passionately to connect with individuals with disabilities and their families to establish trustworthy professional relationships.
