-Pastel- Lake Tahoe, September 2016. This had to be one of the greatest sunsets I've ever seen. I can't wait to go back soon. With all the crazy rain I bet Tahoe will be GREEN this summer. Spending time in Tahoe was a little different from the rest of my road trip last summer. It felt like somewhere I could stay for a long time. Which doesn't happen much outside of Colorado for me.

Like lots of them. 🌿🌵 Bring the outdoors in! Gin and the Northwest

So here we go. In about three weeks I'll be packing up the '85 4Runner and start heading towards Washington state. The plan is to head out from Denver towards San Francisco and up Highway 1 towards Oregon and Washington. It's a pretty loose plan as of right now, but we are probably going to head inland towards Portland for a little while. I've always wanted to see the city and now I've got some "friends of friends" to meet. From there we plan to head back out to the coast and move towards Washington. The goal is to make it out to Cape Flattery and to Orcas Island area. Alex, my wonderful lady friend, had the amazing idea of trying to make a giant loop and head towards home through Idaho and Montana, into Yellowstone, through Wyoming and then home. My guess is that we will end up cruising at least 5k miles all within two weeks. I'm pretty sure we can pull it off. I couldn't be more excited for this trip. Alex and I have never tackled a trip of this size before. Regardless of what happens, it's gonna be amazing. Nine states in 15 days. . . So right now I'm in the process of figuring out some of the getting ready process. I learned a lot of lessons from our last road trip to Yosemite and California last September. One being that good ol' fashioned paper maps are your friend! So, I'm looking into getting those before we leave. Also, I have been very busy getting the 4Runner ready to go. So far she, her name is Amelia, has gotten a brand new crate engine, front and rear axle re-builds with all new bearings and other spinning bits, a new sleeping platform pictures included, newish rear bumper, new brake calipers and pistons, and a few other little things to keep her on the road. Next week she will be getting some suspension work done and that should be about it. I'm super lucky to work in a place with great friends where I can work on my truck with help and get it ready for these kind of trips. I'm planning on taking an ass-ton of pictures while we are on the road, so I should have way too much film to develop by the time I get back. I still have plenty of stuff from last September! Also, I should be getting the pin out of my thumb and be out of my brace from my broken wrist the week before leave. Which means I should have a semi functioning left hand to take pictures with! As I finish sipping my gin and listen to first rain of the year landing on my balcony. My head fills with all the possibilities of this trip. I know the next three weeks a going to fly by. I've got a lot to do but man is this going to be sweet.
