“ i did get spiderwebs in my hair. ” // @directordxnvers
"Clearly,” Simon snorted, peering at the top of Alex’s head and pulling a face. “There’s spiders there, too. At least three. They look poisonous, so. Nice knowing you.” It was a complete and utter lie, but some part of her probably suspected as much. Simon was pretty good at shooting the shit, when he wanted to be.
He probably shouldn’t be doing it now, was all. A joint DEO-Green Lantern mission usually meant the big guns were necessary, but so far? This one seemed to be a whole lot of nothing. An abandoned warehouse the DEO suspected had something fishy going on. So far? All they’d found were the spiderwebs in Alex’s hair. “How long before we call this thing a wash?”

“ i think i’m starting to lose it. ”
@directordxnvers
Daisy had slipped into the DEO, it was a lot easier now that SHIELD wasn’t running her down at each turn. (She was still trying to work out the logistics of having all that job experience but none of it being quite legal, running around and hoping that something decent would land in her lap. Maybe she could try ethical hacking or something — there had to be money in the skills that she already had!) But as she started touching all the books on Alex’s desk and fidgeting with her pens, she heard Alex finally speak up. Daisy looked up, grinning as she clicked the pen in her hand a few more times, for good measure. “Is this helping or making it worse?”

‘ why did you hit him? ’ // @directordxnvers
This wasn’t how she meant to meet Alex in person for the first time. Despite everything, Yara wanted to make a good impression on the people in her sisters’ lives, and Alex Danvers seemed to be a part of that group. The ideal first meeting would have been at the baby shower, where things were calm and the mood was good, or at a dinner with things planned to fill the silence. Not sitting on a bench with her chin propped on her elbow, watching a pair of DEO agents bicker about whose jurisdiction an Amazon punching their colleague in the face fell under.
Yara glanced up as Alex approached, stiffening slightly. At the question, she lifted her shoulder and dropped it. “He was looking at my ass,” she grumbled. “He deserved it. If you’re going to try to make me apologize, I’m going to leave. I don’t think any of you could stop me.” The only reason she hadn’t left already was because she was trying to salvage this, trying to regain that ‘good impression’ she’d probably already lost.

@directordxnvers
The DEO and SHEILD had tried to work together before, and Sharon assumed it was Fury’s ego that had gotten in the way of it really working. But it didn’t make her any less interested in seeing what the DEO might have to offer. Sharon had no intentions of joining, but where her head was at — she could use allies that were willing to take a stand against SHIELD.
Too many people were still scared of SHIELD, and too much of what they had done had never been addressed publicly — leaving their reputation stained and… Sharon had a hard time stomaching it, even as a loyal agent who would have asked how high if told to jump just a few years ago. But that was the loyalty she brought when she was on side — the dedication — the skill. But when she wasn’t? There as a reason for every rumor that followed Agent 13. And the most dangerous spy in the world wasn’t just lip service to a legacy she was carrying.
Anyone who knew her, knew that.
Standing in the office of the Director of the DEO, she had been surprised she had gotten that far — but maybe her reputation did precede her. “Agent 13,” she offered, extending her hand towards Director Danvers, “I was hoping to talk about the DEO’s relationship with SHIELD, if you have the time.”

[ care ] for the SENDER’S MUSE to help patch a wound on the POSTER’S MUSE.
@directordxnvers
Colleen was feeling everything. Her heart was racing and she was pretty sure she had seen Bakuto in the street. (And given what was already happening in her life... she didn't doubt that he could be back. Headless or not.) But Colleen had always been in control of her body, and this was the first time in ages that she felt outside of herself. Like she did when she was looking up at Bakuto and hearing him say that he didn't believe in her anymore. That crack in her perception — the sudden shift in her self-worth — it had been a long time since she had doubts about herself.
But feelings were a distraction. Emotions clouded judgment. And hesitation got people killed. And Colleen had been fumbling since the blackout hit, sick to her stomach with a thousand different feelings and none of them pointing in a helpful direction. She had run into a group — agents, she was pretty sure, but they were just as far gone as the rest of the city. And off their game enough that she had been on the wrong end of a bullet.
Nothing lethal, but the graze on her side stung and Alex was there, offering to help her patch it up before they hit the streets again. (And Colleen was in no position to say no. Last thing she needed was an infection on top of all this.) "I should have accepted that offer to train them," Colleen tried to quip, gritting her teeth at the sting. "Though, I guess, considering things — I'm glad I didn't. Their aim would have been better."

“Alright, let’s light it up!”
Lar winced, his eyes drifting to rest on her stomach before snapping back up to meet her hard gaze. He still felt weird around Director Danvers, for obvious reasons as well as the fact that, honestly, she was just a little intimidating. Kara had forgiven him, thank Rao, but he had a feeling that full absolution would be withheld until Alex deemed him worthy.
And he was fine with that, really. He had dealt with worse for less before and most likely would again, but he just wasn’t sure that helping the very, very pregnant agent demolish a formerly hidden Cadmus base was really in his best interests.
“O-okay?” He swallowed awkwardly, shooting her a semi pleading look before he turned to the hole that had been dug beforehand with a sigh. The base, if Alex was correct and he didn’t doubt she was, should implode in on itself the second his heat vision caught the fusing on fire, but while Director Danvers was standing, waiting, behind thick, blast-resistant glass he couldn’t help but glance over his shoulder a total of three times before her frown pushed him out of his funk of inaction.
A familiar burn overtook his eyes and in a flash he watched the ground around the hole crack and crumble underneath itself, leaving only a large crater behind.
“Well, that was fun, I guess?” He tried for a grin as he floated over toward Alex, “Let’s not tell Kara you were here when that happened though. I think she would throw me into space and, uh, space is scary.”

rate the superfam in whatever way, attractiveness, who's got it most together, etc.
"As far as attractiveness goes? I’m going to have to go for Conner Kent. Something about a bad boy really gets the motor running, you understand? But across the board — they could kill me, and that is a different kind of attraction I’m not sure you are ready for just yet, nonnie. But as far as who has it most put together? I give that honor to Jon Kent. There is just something about him that feels so nicely in order. Makes a guy want to pull a gun? You know what I mean? The Danvers sisters, a pair that I’d like never to tango with. I’d give “most likely to punch a wall” to the DEO director Alex Danvers, a woman after my own heart — if she’d look at me twice. And Kara Danvers, well, she’s most likely to have a cult following, if you get my drift. I’d say poor thing, but look at her? She has it handled. mostly. And if she doesn’t? Well, that makes it all the more fun. What do you say Kara, will you honor me with a blessing?”

[ assist ] for OUR MUSES to attempt to provide medical assistance to civilians. || @directordxnvers
They’d bonded before on professional grounds – looked across a room and saw only another doctor looking back, rather than a friend or family member. Several examples came to mind. The first, of course, had been when Alex was in hospital herself, when Jean first discovered Kara’s dual identity. The second was when Alex woke up, when she refused adamantly to follow the exact same orders she would’ve given in the doctor’s shoes, because she had battles to fight and places to be. Now, as Jean crossed the courtyard of Sara Memorial, she didn’t see the director of the DEO. She saw Dr. Danvers, and she was instantly relieved at the sight.
“You shouldn’t be here,” she said, although she knew the smile on her face betrayed her entirely, gave away exactly how she felt about Alex’s presence. “You only just gave birth. You should be at home, with Dylan. We can handle it here.” It was abundantly clear, however, that they were overstretched – that the medical staff Jean had been training, and training well up until this point, were desperately out of their depth. “I won’t kick you out, though,” she continued. “I may be a little stressed. Just slightly.”

“This shit happens like clockwork.”
@directordxnvers
"Do you think the universe has like, a kitchen timer that just counts down to the next bullshit thing it's going to throw at us — and does this like happen universe-wide or is it just Earth — because I have a lot of questions and I feel like someone should answer for them." Daisy would have laughed if she hadn't seen the future — if she didn't know that something had stressed her to the point that she broke the world. (She tried to believe that just her — that maybe it was Rictor, but even trying to divert the blame made her feel worse.) "Is Dylan someplace safe?" Daisy asked first, knowing that as important as the world was... family always mattered a little more. Even if you didn't want them to. (Even if you were like them.) "Does the DEO have a plan for extended blackouts and uh... whatever the fuck those are?" She asked, pointing towards one of the green objects that had formed in the city.

@directordxnvers
Her eyes never really left Danny. He was across the room now, talking to someone else, and Colleen was by the drinks, a glass in her hand, humming to herself as she kept looking. Even in a room full of people who knew him and barely knew her, she still felt comfortable. At home. Like nothing could reach her here. And considering who was in attendance, she had a feeling that if anything did happen, they’d be stopped on a dime. They were all safe, and Colleen wasn’t sure if she had ever felt this ease in a crowded place outside of the Hand.
But while the barn accommodated people eating inside, the outdoor space allowed for a lot more breathing. Some walking paths that she had talked to Danny about at length at the gala. Colleen stepped out of the barn, taking in a deep breath, the crisp night air helping immediately put her mind at ease. She moved down one of the paths, putting some distance between herself and the barn when she spotted Alex. One of Danny’s friends that had come. “Needed some air too?” She questioned, offering Alex a polite smile. “There’s a path that goes by the water that’s nice and quiet. If you wanted to step away from the party too.”

Babies weren’t something that Diana had a lot of experience with, but she always had an immediate draw to them. Their faces, their vulnerability. A new life that had yet to be defined. A child that would need guidance. Diana was cradling Dylan with great care, rocking the child in her arms the second that Alex passed her towards her. “She’s beautiful,” Diana murmured, looking at Dylan before her attentions shifted to her mother. Alex was undergoing a journey that Diana couldn’t possibly imagine, but there was a brightness in her eyes despite that. A hopefulness that she would be helpful for both Alex and Dylan, even if only as a backdrop.
Dylan looked suspicious of Diana. She was a stranger holding her, after all, but to Diana, it felt like there was an immediate bond. Something that trust could be built on. To someone outside the three of them, she was sure that they would think it was odd. Diana looking for trust from an infant, looking at their mother and waiting permission. She was Wonder Woman to most of the people inside this room. But that didn’t mean unilateral trust. And Diana always respected that. Working to earing it because being asked to prove herself was less of an insult than people thought it was. “Does she come with instructions?” Diana asked, the warm smile on her face not fading for a moment. “Or do I get to show her off to everyone while you escape with…” Diana eyed Dinah across the room. “Dinah? I’m sure she’d be an excellent source of entertainment.” And Diana, truth be told, was excited at the prospect of babysitting. Even if only for a few hours.
