An open letter to the U.S. Congress
Oppose any riders that attack the IRS or ban the implementation of Direct File!
920 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
Filing our taxes online should be free and easy. I’m excited to be able to use the IRS’s new Direct File tax filing system. But I understand that some members of Congress are attempting to attach a rider to must-pass government funding legislation that would ban the IRS from implementing Direct File. I urge you to vote against any riders that attack the IRS or ban the implementation of Direct File. Investments in the IRS are already paying off: the agency is cracking down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats, processing tax returns more quickly, and answering more taxpayer questions with fewer delays. Direct File is an investment in the American people. Please allow the IRS to put our needs ahead of the greed of TurboTax and H&R Block.

Repost @clinical_tips Immediate post operative sensitivity with composite resin can be presented as “pain on biting”. This is different from hot cold sensitivity & one must exclude occlusal factors as well. Simple logic is adhesive or adhesive strategy should be able to beat the composite stress to maintain bond at adhesive-dentin interface. Biomimetic dentists have introduced different protocols. Let’s keep the post open for them, comments!!!! Let’s follow up with different clinical tips with IG community. #dentalsensitivity #dentalcomposite #dentalfilling #dentalmaterials #dentalmaterial #dentalrestoration #dentalresearch #dentistry #dentalschool #dentaleducation #dentalstudent #directfilling #restorativedentistry #restorativedentist #cosmeticdentistry #estheticdentistry #biomimeticdentistry https://www.instagram.com/p/B9ZupwLgoKn/?igshid=76cudn0an4fb

Important update about IRS Direct File program discovered by @granderjester: tl;dr rollout will happen in phases throughout the tax season, so it's not available to use yet (unlike the Free File Program, which is usable currently)
According to a news brief from the IRS website that @granderjester found:
"The IRS Direct File pilot will be rolled out in phases as final testing is completed and is expected to be widely available in mid-March to eligible taxpayers in the participating states."
If you have all of your documents already and want to file your taxes now just to get it out of the way, your best chance is to use the IRS Free File Program if you qualify. The program is usable starting today, Jan 12. If you submit your taxes now, your return won't be processed by the IRS until February, but you'll be among the very first people getting your return processed so you'll receive any refunds sooner.
If you live in one of the 13 qualifying states for the new IRS Direct File pilot and you're comfortable with waiting to file your taxes, then keep checking irs.gov/directfile for the program to become available in your state and be ready to wait a month or more to file your taxes.
Just as a reminder, tax season officially starts (as in, the IRS will start processing returns) on Jan 29 this year, and the tax deadline is April 15.
Hello everyone! When I was a teenager I did more tax returns in two years than most people do in a lifetime, and you all get to reap the benefits. Here are 9 things to know about doing your federal income taxes in the USA!
1. Bring snacks. You need snacks.
2. You probably don't have to pay TurboTax I swear there are other options
3. Search "IRS Freefile Program" to get free tax prep software if you make under like 70k.
4. Search "IRS VITA Program" to find people near you who will do your taxes for you for free if you make under like 70k. They're IRS-certified volunteers, and they're legit - they get trained and certified every year.
5. The main tax form, the 1040, is just a numbered list of instructions. The most complicated math you do is division, and for every single step 20 different websites have already written explanatory articles. The internet (probably) has your answers!
6. You'll probably have one of two types of income forms: W-2 (for employees) or 1099 (for "independent contractors" aka actual contractors, gig workers, and whoever else companies feel like fucking over).
If you got sent a 1099 form, I'm sorry. You'll probably owe money, from a double whammy of no taxes taken out of your check over the years and more taxes being taken from contractor income. Please make sure to mark down all your business expenses (including miles driven! That's a common one) so that your taxable income is a little lower.
7. Are you being claimed as a dependent on someone else's taxes? Are you claiming someone else as a dependent, and that someone is paying taxes this year? Everyone needs to be on the same page about who is or is not a dependent.
A dependent is (basically) someone who you paid for half or more of their living expenses. If someone claims you as a dependent, you have to note on your tax return that you are being claimed as a dependent.
Call if you're not sure whether someone will claim you or if you're not sure whether someone knows you'll claim them. It's a very common reason tax returns get rejected.
8. It's well known but it bears repeating: don't go to any tax return place that guarantees a tax refund. The only way to guarantee a refund is to do tax fraud.
9. Yeah the whole tax return system is needlessly complex and does not have to suck as much as it does. Fistbump of fellow-feeling, y'all 👊
Good luck, everyone! May your taxes be easy and your refund surprisingly large.

Direct Fill Pen
Direct fill pens have changed the way we write, and are among the most popular writing instruments in the world. Unlike a ballpoint pen, direct fill pens allow for greater accuracy and detailing when writing, and can be used to fill in important documents, send messages to other people, or be used when writing on labels, tags, and posters. The ink is similar to that of a fountain pen, although direct fill pens are much more practical. They can easily be refilled once the ink has run out.
