I feel like people often don’t talk about the experiences of disabled people who have caretakers because so much of the conversation is about us—not including us.
I receive in home care for 30 hours a week (+ 4 hours/week for respite). This is paid for by Medicaid (state insurance). Outside of paid hours, my primary caretakers care for me unpaid and assist me most of the time. I’m very rarely left alone due to my high support needs. Often, when I am left alone, I am completely bedridden or at minimum housebound. I have frequent emergency life threatening health problems, falls, and serious injuries even with support in place, and these things significantly increase when I’m on my own.
I’m extremely lucky that my paid caretakers are my partner, my sister (the only family member I have regular contact with, I’m estranged from the rest of my immediate family and most of my extended family) and my best friend.
I used to have agency staffing which was horrible for me and borderline traumatic. At several points, before doing the self directed care option (which allows me to choose my own staff, hire and train them myself and dictate hours for them), I opted to not have any staffing. I was regularly in the emergency room. I can’t drive, so I was having to walk and if I was lucky enough to be able to take the bus on occasion or get a ride from a Facebook acquaintance, they were few and far in between. I don’t have family support, and even my sister who is supportive wasn’t living in the state at the time and doesn’t have a car most of the time.
And before I could even choose which staffing option, even though medically it had been deemed essential for me to have in home care, even though my insurance covered it, I had to wait several years (I was 18 when I was approved) until I was 21 to qualify to start. The reason why: I was legally an “adult disabled child” because of my high support needs (which is funny because I STILL don’t have SSI at age 24) and thus legally unable to consent to my own care plan. I needed a blood relative to consent, and that same blood relative (who had to have proof of such!) couldn’t care for me. At the time, my sister was the only person who could’ve been my caregiver and also she is the only verifiable blood relative I have contact with for safety reasons, and my only relative on this side of the USA.
The first business day after my 21st birthday I immediately got things set up to get in home care.
This is out of date, I get assistance with more than just these highlighted ADL (activities of daily living) tasks now.
In short: my day-to-day life is entirely dependent on others.
And there’s power imbalances that exist between me and my caregivers, even with my current caregivers being amazing and anti-ableist. They will always exist. We talk about the power dynamics of me being dependent on them for my survival, and how heavy that weight can be for each of us.
Having caregivers often means that accessibility is extra difficult— I’ve been told straight up multiple times that I can’t have assistance from my caregivers to help me change in a changing room when we’re out shopping. That they can’t go into the bathroom with me, that they can’t help me get un/dressed during appointments, that they can’t come into spaces with me.
I’ve been denied access to psychiatric care because I can’t do my daily living tasks (ADLs- the highlighted items) independently. And when I’m in a hospital or emergency room, I can’t have my in home workers be paid to care for me, there’s an expectation that the nursing staff at the hospital will do it. Even though my caregivers were specifically trained to learn my body and needs for weeks and have been working with me for years. I have severe cPTSD and showering in front of a stranger is something I cannot do. I would rather fall or faint or get injured or just not shower than deal with that. But I’m expected to just let anyone have access to my body just because I’m physically disabled and need support.
When I faint/fall/get injured/have life threatening health issues arise while I’m not clothed, or when I’m otherwise vulnerable, I’m supposed to let strangers just touch me however they want to. I have to show them my chest (for my cardiac care) and let them poke and examine me. I can’t object without losing access to vital care.
I have agency. I have rights. I have autonomy. I deserve to be able to exercise these things.

Several of Elon Musk’s associates installed at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) have received unprecedented access to federal human resources databases containing sensitive personal information for millions of federal employees. According to two members of OPM staff with direct knowledge, the Musk team running OPM has the ability to extract information from databases that store medical histories, personally identifiable information, workplace evaluations, and other private data. The staffers spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly and feared professional retaliation. Musk Watch also reviewed internal OPM correspondence confirming that expansive access to the database was provided to Musk associates.
The arrangement presents acute privacy and security risks, one of the OPM staffers said. Among the government outsiders granted entry to the OPM databases is University of California Berkeley student Akash Bobba, a software engineer who graduated high school less than three years ago. He previously interned at Meta and Palantir, a technology firm chaired by Musk-ally and fellow billionaire Peter Thiel. Edward Coristine, another 2022 high school graduate and former software engineering intern at Musk’s Neuralink, has also been given access to the databases.
Other Musk underlings embedded at OPM following President Donald Trump’s inauguration include the agency’s new chief of staff, Amanda Scales, who until January was a human resources staffer at xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, and Brian Bjelde, who has spent the past 21 years at Musk's SpaceX, including the last 10 leading the human resources department. They are joined by Gavin Kliger, a former Twitter software engineer serving as a special advisor to the director of OPM, and Riccardo Biasini, a former software engineer at Musk’s tunneling venture, the Boring Company. OPM did not respond to a request for comment. Shortly after Trump took office, OPM installed Greg Hogan to serve as its new chief information officer (CIO). Hogan was tapped to replace OPM CIO Melvin Brown, who had accepted the job less than a month ago. The civil servants who oversee the OPM’s information technology services were then instructed to provide access to Musk's associates, according to the OPM staffers who spoke to Musk Watch. One of the OPM staffers received an email from the agency’s new leadership instructing them to give Musk’s team “access [to] the system as an admin user" and "code read and write permissions." “They have access to the code itself, which means they can make updates to anything that they want,” the staffer explained. USAJOBS, the federal government’s official hiring site, was one of the systems that Musk's associates were given access to. The database stores personal information — Social Security numbers, home addresses, employment records — provided by private individuals who have applied for federal jobs, regardless of whether the applicants went on to work for the government. Musk’s aides were also given access to the OPM’s Enterprise Human Resources Integration (EHRI) system. Contained within the EHRI are the Social Security numbers, dates of birth, salaries, home addresses, and job descriptions of all civil government workers, along with any disciplinary actions they have faced. “They’re looking through all the position descriptions… to remove folks,” one of the OPM staffers said of Musk’s team. “This is how they found all these DEI offices and had them removed — [by] reviewing position description level data.” Other databases Musk’s team has access to include USA Staffing, an onboarding system; USA Performance, a job performance review site; and HI, which the government uses to manage employee health care. “The health insurance one scares me because it's HIPAA [protected] information, but they have access to all this stuff,” the OPM staffer noted.
[...] A new server being used to control these databases has been placed in a conference room that Musk’s team is using as their command center, according to an OPM staffer. The staffer described the server as a piece of commercial hardware they believed was not obtained through the proper federal procurement process. There is a legal requirement that the installation of a new server undergo a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), a formal process to ensure the change would not create any security vulnerabilities. But in this instance, the staff believes there was no PIA. “So this application and corresponding hardware are illegally operating,” they added. On Friday, Reuters reported that some senior civil servants have been blocked from accessing the EHRI and other OPM systems, making it difficult for career OPM employees to know what Musk’s team has been examining or modifying. In the same report, the outlet revealed the team had moved sofa beds into the agency's headquarters to continue their work around the clock.
This should be a major national news scandal.

A tip for the anon who asked about applying for jobs: look at staffing agencies! They honestly have saved my ass more times than I can count in the past 4 years when searching for an office job after working in retail my whole career. Those recruiters will help you tailor your resume specifically for the industry you want and can help you finesse what experience you have into something that’s transferable to other fields and positions.
Many staffing agencies focus on specific industries, but some good ones to look at if you’re in the United States that have good reputations are Robert Half International and Beacon Hill Staffing. Both of those mainly focus on office work, and they have a good combination of temporary jobs, temp to hire, and direct hire (ie they hire you right away without a temp contract)

What's going on? I don't know.
I've now had multiple people at multiple staffing agencies tell me this is the slowest year they've ever seen. Whatever people think the job market is like right now, it isn't. These jobs employers complain they can't fill, I think it's all a load of bullshit. Here's my own experience, and a few notes.
Since November of 2020 I have sent out over 370 applications, including direct company applications, through staffing agencies, through job sites, and even "cold calling". Outside of a couple of temp things, I don't even get responses. In all that time I've had less than 20 potentials contact me.
In one week I applied for four different jobs through a staffing agency, and within a few days every single one of them was yanked back by the employers.
In another week I applied for at least half a dozen data entry jobs, and every single one of them turned out just to be clickbait for filling out online surveys.
Re the above. I deleted my LinkedIn account ages ago because the only things showing up for me were yet more ads for filling out surveys.
The Wall Street Journal recently posted an article discussing, amongst other things, ghost ads. These are ads employers do put up themselves, but they aren't actually hiring. Several reasons are given: that they're pretending to hire to mollify overworked current staff, they're using it as a threat to keep current staff in line, it's a ready pool to quick hire just in case someone does quit, and it makes it look like the company is growing.
Large employers, like grocery chains, are cutting hours for current staff.
One employer I did have an interview with failed to call me back after the interview had to be postponed due to weather.
And just yesterday I was supposed to have a phone interview but the employer not only never bothered to call me at all, they didn't respond to my message asking what was going on.
That last one makes me want to puck in the mouth any employer who says they can't find staff. It's not just me, either. I see a growing number of people talk about their work struggles, applying for jobs in triple digits, and getting nowhere. We're all applying for anything and everything, work below our trained and education skillsets, low wage jobs, part-time jobs, jobs in industries where we have no experience. Nothing's coming. This is happening across the board, in almost every industry. This problem is compounded for people with disabilities like myself, where our choices for work that's doable for us are limited even further. Are we unskilled? No.
Are we untrainable? No.
Are we lazy? No.
Are we reaching too high? No.
What's going on? I don't know.

DAMGR is the abbreviation for Danger Adjunct Mercenary Group Residency, which is owned and operated by the Espionage family. Makhaira is a first cousin once removed of Marked Danger “Mark” Espionage IV. Mark and Makhaira are both descendants of DAMGR’s founder, Marked Espionage I.
Unusually for an apparently competent member of the Espionage family, Makhaira has never married. She has also not received a promotion to Vice President like her younger sibling, and most of her similar-aged cousins.
While she isn’t an expert markswoman like Mark (a marks...man), she is competent with firearms and deadly in hand-to-hand combat.
Makhaira’s job within DAMGR is to meet with pirate crews directly to try sell them contract mercenary services, direct hire crew placement services, and brokered connections to other vendors. While the contract mercenary services are the most lucrative, and the brokered services have given her the most sales, Makhaira has had the most success with crew placement services. For instance, a significant portion of Tyrannosaurus Pecs hires came from DAMGR. Think of her department as like the staffing agency for hitmen and assassins.
Makhaira knows many of the captains, first mates, and quartermasters of smuggler crews relatively well by this point, and she is moderately well-received by the smuggler world because she isn’t too pushy. They also respect that she can hold her own in combat.
She is Daphne Rux’s ex-girlfriend, but this is not information that is known to anyone on the Prosperity... except (oddly) Stella Sarasvati, who found out by accident when Daphne was ranting to a gerbil. It has become recently apparent to Daphne that Makhaira never received a promotion to VP because a marriage to Daphne would mean the Espionage family would have some claim to Rux Enterprises’ fortune and connections.

… Trump launched his global trade war today with an announcement that 25% tariffs will be imposed on imports from Canada and Mexico, and 10% tariffs on China beginning tomorrow.
… Trump promised much higher tariffs than this on China repeatedly during the campaign, but it appears Elon Musk was successful in negotiating those down for his largest business partner - the Chinese Communist Party.
… Trump held a brief press conference in the Oval Office to announce the tariffs tonight. He was asked why he was doing this since he promised Americans that he would lower prices: “Tariffs don’t cause inflation. Tariffs cause success. There could some temporary short term disruption. And people understand that.”
… The stock market, which was up before the tariffs were announced today, took a nosedive the minute the announcement was made. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the announcement at 1:00 PM. This is what happened. The Dow closed the day down 337.54.
… Canada PM Justin Trudeau: “No one — on either side of the border — wants to see American tariffs on Canadian goods. I met with our Canada-U.S. Council today. We’re working hard to prevent these tariffs, but if the United States moves ahead, Canada’s ready with a forceful and immediate response.”
… After Trudeau made this statement, Trump said there was nothing anyone could do at this point to stop the tariffs.
… US District Court Judge Jack McConnell issued a formal injunction today against the Trump Admin on a lawsuit brought by several states to prevent them from impounding funds. From the court’s order: “Defendants shall not pause, freeze, impede, block, cancel, or terminate Defendants’ compliance with awards and obligations to provide federal financial assistance to the States, and Defendants shall not impede the States’ access to such awards and obligations.”
… The court’s findings: “The States have set forth facts showing that the Executive’s abrupt ‘pause’ in potentially trillions of dollars of federal funding will cause a ripple effect that would directly impact the States and other’s ability to provide and administer vital services and relief to their citizens. Thus, the federal grants to States and others that are impounded through the Executive’s pause in disbursement will cause irreparable harm. And it is more than monetary harm that is at stake here. As Justice Anthony Kennedy reminds us, ‘Liberty is always at stake when one or more of the branches seek to transgress the separation of powers.’”
… The judge also made it clear that the X post from Karoline Leavitt undercut the Trump Admin’s arguments in court: “Based on the Press Secretary’s unequivocal statement and the continued actions of Executive agencies, the Court finds that the policies in the OMB Directive that the States challenge here are still in full force and effect and thus the issues presented in the States’ TRO motion are not moot.”
… Stephen Miller continued the Trump narrative on Fox that DEI was somehow the reason for the airline crash: “It’s so preventable. As President Trump said today, over the past four years the FAA and air-traffic control under Joe Biden have been dedicated to a mission not of a public safety and not of safe aviation but of DEI.”
… Karoline Leavitt: “When you're flying with your loved ones, do you pray that your airplane lands safely and gets you to your destination or do you pray that the pilot has a certain skin color? I think we all know the answer.”
… Petey Doocy from Fox to Leavitt today: “If President Trump is telling us that air traffic control towers are staffed with unqualified people - DEI hires - then it’s not safe to fly now, is it?” I’m sure the airline industry is thrilled right now.
… Alina Habba: "We cannot have sloppy, lazy and inappropriate hires, because American people are going to suffer and die."
… Lara Trump, who was given the position of ‘co-Chair of the RNC’ despite having zero qualifications whatsoever, on Fox: “Hiring people for any other reason than competence and merit does a disservice to the public. We should never be hiring anyone for any job other than the best person for that job. That should be the number one reason.” Marrying Eric Trump seems to help qualify you also.
… But Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO), whose committee has oversight over the FAA, told Politico that he disagrees with Trump’s statement that DEI was the cause of the crash between a commercial airplane and an Army helicopter: “I don’t think it had anything to do with this particular accident.” Graves is also a pilot.
… WaPo reported that Elon Musk called for Federal Aviation Administrator Mike Whitaker to resign right before Trump took office, which lead to his resignation on Trump’s first day. The FAA was about to fine Musk's company SpaceX $630,000 for violations related to its launches, and Musk threatened to sue the FAA for "regulatory overreach."
… Sen. Tim Kaine: "Trump let Musk force the resignation of the FAA Administrator. He disbanded an aviation safety committee within DHS. He's got an OMB Director who is pushing a hiring freeze and saying, 'I want to traumatize the federal workforce'. He's got an anti-safety agenda. I think that's why he went the race-baiting route."
… Sen. Chris Murphy: "What he’s saying is that the only people who are competent to run anything in this country are white men. Why did he come out so quickly to attack women and Black people for ruining the FAA? He did that because he’s very vulnerable. He has some big questions to answer because the FAA has been in chaos since he took over. Elon Musk, his co-president, forced out the FAA administrator - this could be a coverup."
… More Murphy: “This crash happened on Trump’s watch. After he deliberately threw the FAA into chaos by leaving the agency leaderless, firing the safety board, and bullying its employees to quit. The reason he’s casting blame everywhere else is that he knows what he did.”
… Congressional Black Caucus Chair Yvette Clark: “He will continue with the vilification and demonization. He will continue with this madness until our Republic is as white and as male as this administration can bend and break the law to make it. His slew of illegal, unconstitutional executive orders prove just this.”
… Even Newsmax’s WH Correspondent James Rosen seemed disgusted with Trump’s press conference. He asked Leavitt today: “This was an event that began yesterday with a moment of silence for the victims, then the president’s invocation of a loving God, then he uncorked that expletive to insult a former Cabinet officer (Buttigieg). Does the president regard his public profanity as effective communication or is it something he lapses into inadvertently out of frustration and later regrets?”
… A transgender soldier spoke out after she was falsely named on viral right-wing social media posts as the pilot of the helicopter involved in a crash with an airline. After her name and pic were posted all over X, she posted a video to prove she is very much alive. Jo Ellis: "Some craziness has happened on the internet and I'm being named as one of the pilots of the DC crash. Please report any accounts or posts you see. It's insulting to the victims and families of those lost and they deserve better than this BS from the bots and trolls of the internet."
… Ann Coulter was one of the right wing accounts spreading it. She captioned her post which falsely blamed Ellis: “Why is this only on Twitter?
… Adam Kinzinger responded to Coulter: “Because its not true, you bastard.”
… WaPo reports that David Lebryk, the highest-ranking career official at the Treasury Department, is resigning after Elon Musk’s demand that he gain access to sensitive payment systems that disperse trillions of dollars every year. Lebryk has served in non-political roles in the Treasury Department since 1989 and is considered a consummate nonpolitical civil servant. Musk has reportedly asked for access repeatedly to the system but Lebryk has refused.
… Former Treasury official Mike Gwin: “Truly a shocking move — Dave is a totally apolitical professional who’s been trusted by Treasury secretaries from both parties to maintain the critical financial plumbing of the U.S. govt. Moves like this undermine the bedrock that markets, businesses and taxpayers rely on.”
… Reuters reports that Musk has locked career civil servants out of computer systems that contain the personal data of millions of federal employees. Senior career employees at the Office of Personnel Management have had their access revoked to some of the department's data systems.
… Eric Reinhart says that Trump-loving LA Times owner Pat Soon-Shiong changed the headline and the article he wrote which was critical of RFK Jr. Reinhart’s original headline was: ‘RFK Jr’s Wrecking Ball Won’t Fix Public Health’. Soon-Shiong changed it to: ‘Trump’s Healthcare Disruption Could Pay Off — If He Pushes Real Reform’.
… Reinhart also said the article was manipulated by cutting out key sections which made it misleading: “Key lines were cut—lines that made very clear that RFK Jr is dangerously ignorant, has absolutely no business near HHS, and is effectively a mass murderer in waiting. This was my first time working with the LA Times, and I expect also my last.”
… Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent out a memo to give priority grant funding to parts of the country with higher marriage and birth rates than the national average. The memo states that DOT will give "preference" for grant funding to "communities with with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average.
… On anonymous DOT official told HuffPost: "Considering fertility rates when prioritizing federal grants? We obviously have no idea what the full impact of that will be. It’s absolutely creepy. It’s a little like the Chinese government. I don’t know where else I’ve seen a policy of ‘we need to incentivize baby-making."
… Punchbowl asked Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) what he thought of Tulsi Gabbard refusing to call Edward Snowden a traitor after he asked her repeatedly: “Kinda surprised. I thought that was gonna be an easy softball question.” They asked if her answer could be a problem for her confirmation prospects: “I think there are a lot of questions after it, yeah.”
… Sen. Josh Hawley was asked by Fox if he thought Tulsi Gabbard was in trouble: “I don't know. I have to tell you, I'm worried by what I hear from some of my Republican colleagues. I'm worried that her nomination may be in jeopardy.”
… Sen. Michael Bennet: "I think she is caught in this miasma of this confused social media chatter that, outside of any hearing where you're actually being tested on something maybe makes sense, or maybe feels like something you can get away with. The same thing with Bobby Kennedy's half-truths."
… As someone who has watched both of them for years on right-wing podcasts and media, I can say Bennet is totally on the money. They have been free to spout preposterous conspiracies and lies unchallenged for years to cultists, and this is the first time someone has ever put them under any scrutiny.
… CNN’s Manu Raju after Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who is a physician, repeatedly tried and failed to get RFK Jr to say that vaccines don’t cause autism: “Cassidy could single-handedly derail the nomination by voting NO in committee. He hasn’t said how he would vote.”
… Sen. Raphael Warnock on RFK Jr: “Since they are attacking DEI, I want to know what qualifies Robert Kennedy to be the chief public health officer of the United States of America?”
… TN reporter Phil Williams says that federal prosecutors have just withdrawn from the criminal investigation of TN Rep. Andy Ogles, an unprecedented move that could signal plans by the Trump administration to drop the case against him. Ogles just introduced the bill in Congress to amend the Constitution to allow Trump to run for a 3rd term. Trump’s DOJ also dropped charges against former GOP Rep. Jeff Fortenberry yesterday.
… House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to Fox: “We understand that MAGA Republicans have a strategy. They want to flood the zone with outrage, but we can't chase every outrage. I'm a Yankee fan, and Aaron Judge is my favorite player. One of the reasons that he's a great hitter is that he does not swing at every pitch. He waits for the right one, and then he swings. We're not going to swing at every pitch. We're going to swing at the ones that matter.”
… I get what Jeffries is saying here - you can’t constantly call press conferences to address every single deranged Truth Social post, but the problem is that the Dem strategy of either ignoring his lies and outrages or responding to them late has been a losing formula. Dems have consistently allowed Republicans to set the narrative on nearly every issue for 4 years. It is time to respond more, go on offense more, and be vigilant at all times.
… So my baseball analogy is that we are constantly taking pitches and are always behind in the count, and you don’t get a lot of hits when you are always 0-2 after the first two pitches.

… Robinson sued CNN after they published an expose showing that the “christian conservative” left messages on a trans porn website calling himself ‘Black Nazi’, said women shouldn’t be allowed to vote, and made numerous other controversial homophobic and misogynistic statements.
… IL Gov JB Pritzker signed order prohibiting J6 insurrectionists from ever obtaining state employment in Illinois: “I hereby direct CMS to apply the State Personnel Code and consider any participation in the January 6 insurrection as infamous and disgraceful conduct that is antithetical to the mission of the State.”
… Dan Rather just posted this: “Independent journalism is now the way forward. Sadly, we can no longer rely on legacy media to hold the powerful accountable.”
… CNN reports that Trump is firing dozens of FBI agents who worked on J6 cases. The FBI Agents Association issued a statement: “These outrageous actions are fundamentally at odds with the law enforcement objectives outlined by President Trump and his support for FBI Agents. Dismissing potentially hundreds of Agents would severely weaken the Bureau’s ability to protect the country from national security and criminal threats and will ultimately risk setting up the Bureau and its new leadership for failure. During our meeting, he said that agents would be afforded
appropriate process and review and not face retribution based solely on the cases to which they were assigned.”
… Guess what, he lied. Shocking. Trump’s War on Law Enforcement continues.
… During his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing on Thursday, Kash Patel was asked if he was aware of any FBI agents who might be fired at Trump’s request and he claimed that he did not.
… Sen. Richard Blumenthal: “This reported mass purging of professional law enforcement is surreal and sickening. Less than 24 hours after Trump’s nominee to run the FBI testified to me that there would be no political retribution against agents, apparently dozens – maybe even hundreds – of federal law enforcement officials may be fired. I am appalled by this vile retaliation against agents who sought to hold accountable people who stabbed cops with flagpoles and crushed officers until they broke bones. The silence from my Republican colleagues is disgusting and deafening.“
… Sen. Cory Booker asked Patel: “Are you aware of any plans or discussions to punish in any way, including termination, FBI agents or personnel associated with Trump investigations?” Patel: “I am not aware of that, senator.”
… After previously stripping all 51 intelligence agents of their security clearances who said in 2020 that Hunter Biden's laptop was likely tampered with and contained Russian disinformation, Trump has reportedly also just signed an order banning them from entering any federal buildings.
… A CNN analysis of the 53 executive orders from Trump’s first week in office found that more than two-thirds (36 of them) mirror proposals outlined in Project 2025 plan. Trump said repeatedly during the campaign he had no connection to the plan, didn’t know what was in it, and didn’t know the people involved. Even the people involved disputed that.
… Project 2025 architect Paul Dans is happy with how things are going so far: “This is exactly the work we set out to do. It’s still in the early first stages of bearing fruit, but we wanted to make sure the president was ready to hit the ground running on day one. The rapidity and the depth of what they’ve rolled out this quickly is a testament to the work done in Project 2025 and other presidential transition projects.”
… Sen. Chris Murphy on Kristi Noem’s stunt where she put on ICE gear in NYC the other day: “She deported 7,300 people in the first week and is playing dress up and doing constant conservative TV to get pats on the back. Biden deported 15,000 on an average week.”
… Rep. Nancy Mace saw Noem in action and realized that kind of attention seeking was right up her alley and had to get in the action. She posted this video as she was heading out with ICE this morning in South Carolina: “Rise and shine, cupcakes. We’re heading out with ICE today. Criminal migrants, get the fuck out!”
… AP asked former DNC Chair Jamie Harrison if it was a mistake for Biden to drop out of the race: “Joe Biden gave the State of the Union, people said it was one of the best State of the Unions that we’ve ever seen. Then we move forward to the debate, and people were like, that was a horrible debate performance. And then my thought was: Joe Biden secured the nomination. The primary was done, and so, I’m a loyal guy. We’re riding with Biden.”
… Harrison continued: “And if you look at the other side, Republicans, Trump had just been convicted how many times for all these felonies? And you didn’t hear a peep from the Republicans, in terms of like, ‘We need to jettison Trump, and we need to open up a new primary, and we need to do this and that.’ And so sometimes, I think, Democrats can learn something in terms of, let’s put a line of defense around our folks and defend them as well.”
… Candidates for DNC Chair held their forum today with voting members. WaPo reported that ‘DNC Territories Alliance’, which represents 20 DNC members, announced their endorsement of Ken Martin. He’s now at about 200 public endorsements from DNC members and is now the clear favorite going into tomorrow’s election. Martin: “I’m on a path to win tomorrow, and working hard to make sure we don’t go to a second ballot.”
… Faiz Shakir was the only candidate who refused to commit to increasing at-large DNC seats specifically for transgender people, and creating a Muslim caucus: "I'm frustrated by the way in which we utilize identity to break ourselves apart.” He said he wants the party to focus on "program and mission" first, and then bring their "identities to the problems we need to solve. Let’s get into that, not separate ourselves out and give pats on the head for being in various identity groups."
… After Pete Hegseth announced they will house 30,000 migrants at Guantanamo Bay who are pending deportation, Don Jr. responded: “Now this is a great idea. Maybe we should also reopen Alcatraz?”
… Karoline Leavitt says she has received over 10,000 applications from podcasters and “independent journalists” for WH press credentials. They have created a rotating “New Media Seat” and the first podcaster who was there today was the right-wing ‘Ruthless Podcast’.
… Former NFL player and coach Tony Dungy denies the report that he may be running for Senate in Michigan: “Not sure where this idea came from but it didn’t come from me. I love my home state of Michigan. I pray they will elect a Senator who honors the Lord and leads the people well. But I can assure you it won’t be me. Number 1, I’m not a politician. Number 2, I live in Florida.”
… Rep. Marge Greene introduced a bill to prevent future presidents from reversing Trump’s XO on the Gulf of Mexico: “We must pass my Gulf of America Act to codify President Trump’s Executive Order into law and permanently rename the Gulf of Mexico on every map to the rightful Gulf of America!”

…. NPR reports that Trump's new FCC Chair Brendan Carr has ordered an investigation of NPR and PBS, with their stated goal to end federal funding for both organizations. Elon Musk has repeatedly called for both to be defunded. Carr: "I am concerned that NPR and PBS broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials. It is possible that NPR and PBS member stations are broadcasting underwriting announcements that cross the line into prohibited commercial advertisements. I do not see a reason why Congress should continue sending taxpayer dollars to NPR and PBS given the changes in the media marketplace.”

… President of the Kviv School of Economics Tymofiy Mylovanov responded to a new statement from Marco Rubio that the war has sent Ukraine back a century: “He has no idea what he is talking about. He has no idea what Ukraine was a century ago. We had a couple of military units comprised of students, which were quickly crushed by Bolsheviks. We had Russia and Poland split us. We had allies who sold us out. We had no resources, no experience, and no people willing to fight. We had no technology and no economy. We faced brutal, disciplined, resourceful Bolsheviks. And we lost independence within 2 years. This was a century ago.”
… He concluded: “Today Ukraine has a strong, motivated, technological military. Clearly, the military is exhausted and the enemy is strong and large, but the Ukraine military stands firm, the economy is resilient, and the allies are consistent. So, yes, it is nice for Rubio to say that Ukraine is pushed back a century - it sounds great and underscores the importance of stopping the war, but the comparison is bullshit.”
