Can I just say I love the shipping scene in HLVRAI? Like, I've never been in a fandom where it's been this CHILL before. Each ship has appeal and could actually work (unless you're intentionally being weird about it, but I haven't really encountered those people, this is personal experience here), and it's just so-!

Frenrey is wonderful because they're both silly, if those two met under different circumstances you KNOW they'd be friends, and it can be about forgiveness and healing. I love that.

Freelatta is great because Tommy and Gordon always have each others' backs, and those two will see each other through thick and thin.

Sodashipping is delightful because Darnold and Tommy just click SO WELL, they have a lot of common interests outside of soda, and you guys who give Darnold a dog as well as so correct about that omg.

Darzen is really fun because these two have never once interacted in canon but so easily could have. Like Forzen probably had to go through that area to progress as well, what hijinx would they get into?

I don't see Gordon and Forzen being shipped just the two of them often (shoutout to hlvrv, that was unexpected but really fun), but that's another instance I could also see. They're polycule a lot of the time, which hell yeah.

Tomrey is awesome because of the pre-established friendship between Benrey and Tommy, how even down to the final wire Benrey didn't really want to hurt Tommy. Outside of shipping their relationship is just wonderful.

Darnrey is also fun in that regard. Gamer partners.

Benzon as well. This one really depends on your interpretation of canon but it's always fun when it pops up again. The history between those two has so much potential. I don't personally ship this one but it's always fun to explore.

Another I don't have the name for but Darnold and Gordon. Orang. And just the unconditional support from Darnold- wonderful.

Frenreylatta is just delightful. Like you take all the best parts of frenrey, tomrey, and freelatta and put them in a blender and you get pure wholesomeness. I fucking love this one. Absolute winner. And I also really love how usually depictions of this one don't hide the part parts, either, but it's still a generally more supportive relationship overall. Five stars.

Frenreylattarnold is also just *chef's kiss*. Darnold just brings a vibe to the group they don't otherwise have. It simultaneously makes it more chill and more chaotic.

Again I don't know the name, but add Forzen into the mix and you have a really fun, complex dynamic of people who just love each other. I'm so fucking here for it.

I know I'm missing some but AOUGH

I can't not talk about my favorite ship here, though. Boomer sweep. Boomer wins. Every time boomer pops up on my feed I get so fucking happy. Chaos grandpas who fucking love and support each other SO unconditionally. They work through their trauma together while committing crimes. The stark contrasts between them also aid wonderfully to their dynamic, like how Coomer doesn't like video games while Bubby is a speedrunner. They each have their own lives but they want to spend them together. NO I'M NORMAL DID YOU KNOW THAT I SWEAR I'M NORMAL-

Gubby's a fun one, too, and from my understanding that one's a rarepair. But yeah, putting Bubby's firey personality next to Gman's calm and collected one creates a lot of fun opportunities, and helps explore the differences between Half Life and HLVRAI Gman in more in-depth ways. It's always fun when it pops up again, I love it. (Shoutout to catloki for this one.)

I don't member the ship name but adding Coomer in there is also really fun. Chaos grandpas take over the world together <3

I haven't seen Coomer and Gman being shipped individually before but I could also see that one. Coomer would be able to simultaneously meet Gman where he's at while also encouraging him to step outside his comfort zone, and also probably being a terrible influence on him gGFDHSJAKGF.

All this to say I'm not really a shipper. These guys could be just friends and I'd be okay with that, which I guess lends itself to the RTVS crew and how well they all stepped into character. Everyone just has dynamics with each other, that come out naturally, and makes it easy for us to really see where each relationship could go.

I just fucking love this fandom.

Sorry I keep updating at like. midnight. I honestly dont have an excuse besides i go to work and i get home and i'm tired fghsdajk

Gonna take me a little while to get into the swing of this. I've never done an askblog like this before (though I have hosted... technically 3 in the past? (EDIT: no, 4 actually.) But never like this, and none of them went anywhere), so trying to get into the swing of it has been weird.

Glad people seem to be enjoying it, though! I had no idea it'd take off like this, aha. Hopefully I can get a bit more consistent and stop uploading at 2 AM, lol.

That said, I don't know what my schedule's gonna be (if I even start one). So if there's a couple days where I don't upload, it's not because I abandoned the AU or anything, it's probably just because I'm busy IRL.

Feel free to keep sending in asks even if I'm not online! I've already got a lot of really good ones sitting there that I'm gonna hold onto for a bit (for. reasons).

This has been really fun so far, and I hope everyone's having fun, too! Just bear with me while I figure this out. I'm hoping to get out a ref of [ERROR] soon, and also stop calling him that soon, but getting into character is proving to be a challenge when you do it on and off like this. But that's never stopped me before and it won't now. Like I said, this has been fun so far!

That said, if anyone has any suggestions on a meta level, I'm all ears. I realize now that I've run into this basically blind, so even though I did a couple week's worth of preparation in advance for this blog, I'm also still floundering a bit. Learning more every day, though! And I'm hoping I can pick up the pace soon as well. After Day 1's rapidfire replies, going at a more leisurely pace feels really slow, and I both wanna fix that but also don't know how because, like I said, I keep uploading at midnight gfdshjk

summery: a new jazz singer, makes her way into Sebastians heart after his last devastating love. can she help him move on?

You were late. Again. Working at one of the small Jazz clubs in Los Angeles meant that either you could lose your job to another singer or, you were the only one available and had to work twice as hard to stay at your place of employment. This was the fourth time in the past month you had been more than 20 minutes late to work. You were so caught up in the life of your now ex boyfriend that anything outside of his work and his world was deemed not important. This morning was the last time you would ever live under his rules again and kicked him out, including breaking up with him and throwing his shit outside your window onto the plants and sidewalk just underneath it. He was pissed. In all, you were extremely late for work.

Sebastian happened to be at your place of work today. He didn't know you and neither did you to him, but you would. He had been coming to this place for years, and more recently has been dying to listen to your voice for more than the one song you were put on stage for.

As you rushed into your place of employment, the “Jazz Dimond”, you were met with the angry face of your employer. You didn't get any words out before he threw your items from your locator onto the floor of the Jazz club and walked away. Sebastian watched as you picked up all your items, stuffing them the best you could into your giant purse already carrying loads of things.

“Why don't you come work for me?” Sebastian asked you, already standing in front of you. You had seen him at the bar before and you knew he also was opening a new Jazz club. You were stunned he wanted you to work for him. From that day on you worked alongside Sebastian as he readied his Jazz club to open, called “Seb’s”. It was his ex-girlfriends idea and you knew that before you came and got attached he loved another.

The two of you didnt start dating until a year after they opened. The relationship was slow, a nice past for the two of you as both of you had been in previous relationships and didn’t want to get hurt.

That year you found a song you wanted to sing for one of Sebs big nights at the club, a special French themed jazz night. You decided that La vie en Rose would be your song for the night. Sebastian had no idea, and was off in his own world that day trying to get ready for that night. This night would be the night Sebastian realized after a year of dating you, he was so in love with the woman on stage he knew it was worth it.

When you press me to your heart

I'm in a world apart

A world where roses bloom

And when you speak, angels sing from above

Everyday words seem to turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me

You sang your heart out, words flowing from your lips, the french song just creating a starry atmosphere. Sebastian was star struck, love struck by you. You wanted to sing this song to show him you loved him, this place you had together, and the life you wanted with him by your side.

Sebastian stared at you and the way your glistening silver dress made you look like an Angel! When you ended the song and exited the stage after the claps and woops from the audience, there he was. A bit sporadic Sebastian scooped you into his yards and kissed you, dipping you as he did.

“I love you Y/N” he spoke, the words were like waves over you. You felt like you were drowning in him and you didn’t want to ever surface! When the waves subsided and you still felt underwater…

“I love you too Sebastian” you spoke. Sebastian smiled, the biggest one you have ever seen. That night, the french love song tied your hearts together

I think it's more like he just doesn't mind them. He's conquered them, and knows a ton about different species, how to capture them, and is always willing to learn even more so that he is even more successful.

He's basically a capitalist- the only reason he's going after Hiccup (at least at first) is because he's disrupting business. He's been spending too much on rebuilding his armada or hiring new hands when these stupid teenagers blast his ships apart, which is why he invests so much into improving his ships and trapping equipment- fuck all if it's heavy, at least it's defended now.

He's an innovator. He's a businessman. He's a chessmaster. He was never actively malicious until Hiccup showed up. And sure, people were afraid of him because he always put his own goals first. If anyone got in the way of that, he'd get rid of them. He doesn't care about the people around him- hell, he barely cares about his own brother- he only cares about sitting atop his empire of dragon bones and human blood.

Once a group of fucking teenagers started meddling in his business, that's when things got taken to the next level. And, when his brother failed to defeat them, he figured out immediately that Ryker must be missing something- which is why he wanted to meet Heather and Dagur. He knew one of them was a traitor, and maybe already had suspicions of Heather simply because she rode her own dragon, and seeing her for himself only confirmed it for him.

He's selfish and incredibly smart- which is a terrifying combination.

The dragons are merely product to him. He doesn't care one way or the other, he only cares about what purpose they can serve him, be it for profit, defense, or a trap to catch some STUPID TEENS who ran off with his Dragon Eye-! Didn't matter. The dragons both are the most valuable thing in the world to him, but also worthless at the same time. He does not make connections- he exploits them.

So, in a way, it was for shits and giggles, but on another, he does care about dragons if not only for the sheer fact that they bring him power over other human beings.

I'm glad you caught that! It's symbolism. Every time a character has a name without alliteration, it represents them purposefully stepping outside the norm. There are three characters who do this, and the first one is Emma.

Emma is the thing that prompted the entire plot. She's the one who realized first that things suck, and she wanted to do something about it. Without her getting up on her literal soap box and calling for change, none of the rest of this show would have happened.

The other two characters... well, they're stories for another day, perhaps.
