Diluc couldn't forget the day they moved into the neighborhood. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the streets as boxes were being carried into the new house. He was helping his parents, carrying items from the car when he caught sight of a figure peeking from behind a nearby fence. It was Y/n, a curious expression on her face as she observed him working.
As he made eye contact and waved, Y/n's cheeks flushed, and she quickly ducked out of sight. There was something about her shyness that tugged at Diluc's heartstrings. Little did he know, that moment would linger in his mind for years to come.
The next encounter was when Y/n's mother insisted she take over a box of homemade confectioneries as a welcoming gift. This time, it was Kaeya who opened the door. His mischievous blue eyes widened in surprise at the offering, and a playful grin spread across his face as he accepted it.
"Hey there! You must be our new neighbor. I'm Kaeya, nice to meet you!" he greeted cheerfully.
Y/n couldn't help but smile at his friendly demeanor, and that simple interaction sparked the beginning of their friendship. Days turned into weeks, and soon, the trio found themselves spending more time together, sharing laughs, secrets, and growing closer.
~
As the years passed, the trio's bond strengthened, but the dynamics were shifting beneath the surface. Kaeya's feelings for Y/n were becoming increasingly evident to Diluc, and though he had long buried his own emotions, it didn't make the situation any easier.
One day, as they sat on the rooftop of Y/n's house, Kaeya couldn't help but gaze at Y/n with a soft smile. "You know, Y/n, there's something about you that makes every moment brighter," he confessed, his usually playful demeanor giving way to a rare sincerity.
Diluc, who was sitting next to them, raised an eyebrow. "Kaeya, since when did you become so sentimental?" he teased, masking the sting in his heart.
Kaeya shot him a look, a mixture of annoyance and amusement. "I'm being serious for once, brother. Y/n, I... I really like you."
Y/n, surprised but not entirely unaware of Kaeya's growing feelings, blushed. "Kaeya, you're such a goofball, but I like you too."
Diluc's heart sank, but he managed to maintain a facade of indifference. He teased Kaeya mercilessly after that, making light of his brother's newfound romance. Yet, every joke felt like a stab, a reminder of what could have been.
Despite the pain he felt, Diluc couldn't bring himself to resent Kaeya or Y/n. Kaeya, in his own way, genuinely cared for Y/n, and Y/n was happy. Diluc buried his feelings deeper, a silent sacrifice for the sake of their friendship.
One evening, as they strolled through the neighborhood, Diluc couldn't shake the ache in his chest. "You two are disgustingly sweet, you know that?" he remarked, his tone playful.
Kaeya smirked, throwing an arm around Y/n's shoulders. "It's called being in love, dear brother. You should try it sometime."
Y/n laughed, and Diluc, despite the pain, smiled. "Maybe one day, Kaeya. Just maybe."

As they entered college, the once harmonious dynamic between Kaeya, Y/n, and Diluc began to show signs of strain. The demands of their studies, coupled with the distance from their childhood home, started to take a toll on their relationship.
Living in separate apartments, Kaeya and Diluc found themselves sharing a space again, but this time, it was different. Arguments became frequent, mostly stemming from Kaeya's carefree lifestyle clashing with Diluc's more serious nature. Y/n, caught in the middle, tried her best to mediate but often ended up feeling torn between her two closest friends.
Late-night conversations turned into heated disagreements, and more often than not, Y/n would storm out of Kaeya's apartment, tears streaming down her face. It had become a routine, and Diluc couldn't bear to see her hurt, but he was also grappling with his own conflicted emotions.
Watching Y/n leave yet again, Diluc sighed, knowing that Kaeya's immaturity was causing the rift. He had always harbored feelings for Y/n, but he had buried them to preserve their friendship. However, seeing her distressed because of Kaeya tore at his resolve.
He paced back and forth in their apartment, his thoughts in turmoil. Should he intervene? Confess his feelings? But the fear of ruining what little harmony remained between them held him back.
Finally, making a decision, Diluc grabbed his jacket and hurried after Y/n. He found her sitting on a bench a few blocks away, tears still staining her cheeks.
"Y/n," he called softly, sitting beside her.
She looked up, surprised to see him. "Diluc? What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't just let you leave like that," he admitted, his usual stoic facade softening. "Are you okay?"
Y/n nodded, but her eyes betrayed her emotions. "I don't know what to do, Diluc. Everything feels so complicated."
He hesitated, then gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know it's hard, but you don't have to face this alone. We'll figure it out together, alright?"
Diluc found solace in the reminiscing, a bittersweet comfort amidst the turmoil. Y/n's tear-stained face slowly transformed into a faint smile as they recollected the simpler times of their childhood. The only sound being the soft rustle of leaves and occasional cars passing by.
"It feels like a different lifetime, doesn't it?" Y/n mused, wiping away the remnants of her tears.
"It does," Diluc agreed softly. "Back when our biggest worry was the flavor of ice cream we'd get."
A gentle breeze swept through, causing a stray strand of Y/n's hair to dance across her face. Without thinking, Diluc reached out and tucked it behind her ear, a gesture born of care and familiarity.
Y/n's surprised gaze met his, and for a moment, the air filled with unspoken words. Diluc, realizing the intimacy of his action, quickly withdrew his hand, an apology forming on his lips.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—" he began, but Y/n interrupted with a gentle touch on his arm.
"It's okay, Diluc," she said softly, a faint blush dusting her cheeks. "Thank you."
Their gazes lingered, a multitude of emotions passing between them in that fleeting moment. Diluc's heart raced, unsure of how to navigate his unspoken feelings. He wanted to say more, to express the years of hidden affection, but the weight of their friendship held him back.
"I should probably get you back home," he finally spoke, a hint of regret tainting his words.
Y/n nodded, a mix of understanding and curiosity in her eyes. As they walked back in silence, the evening's revelations hung heavy in the air, leaving Diluc grappling with his emotions, uncertain of what the future held for their tangled relationships.
~
The apartment was draped in an uneasy silence as Diluc quietly entered, his eyes avoiding the piercing gaze of his brother. Kaeya sat on the couch, his attention seemingly fixated on the TV, but his mind clearly preoccupied with thoughts that mirrored Diluc's own.
"Where were you?" Kaeya's question cut through the stillness, the undertone revealing a mixture of concern and insecurity.
"Out for a walk," Diluc replied, his voice steady but devoid of its usual warmth. He knew Kaeya was aware that he went after Y/n, and the unspoken tension in the room thickened.
"Really? At this hour? At least find a good excuse when you're trying to lie," Kaeya retorted, his frustration evident.
Diluc's jaw clenched, irritation simmering beneath the surface. He resisted the urge to snap back, realizing that this wasn't just about the late-night stroll. The unresolved issues between them were casting a shadow over the apartment.
Ignoring Kaeya's continued probing, Diluc retreated to his room, closing the door behind him. The walls seemed to close in as he grappled with conflicting emotions. Kaeya's accusations stung, but the real source of pain lay in the unspoken truth that Diluc had been avoiding for too long.
Kaeya, too, sat in the dimly lit living room, a frown creasing his features. He knew Diluc's feelings for Y/n ran deep, hidden beneath layers of brotherly camaraderie. The discovery of Y/n's picture in Diluc's diary once had been a revelation he chose to keep to himself, a silent acknowledgment of a truth that could shatter the fragile balance they had maintained.
As the night wore on, the brothers remained ensnared in the unspoken tensions that swirled between them, each grappling with their own insecurities and unexpressed desires.
~
Later in the middle of the night the soft glow of Kaeya's phone illuminated the darkened room as he swiftly typed out a casual "hey" to someone. His actions were shrouded in secrecy, a clandestine exchange that echoed the shadows of deceit.
Minutes later, the door closed quietly behind Kaeya as he slipped out of the apartment, leaving behind an atmosphere thick with unspoken tension. He navigated the quiet streets, his steps laden with guilt and a tangled web of conflicting emotions.
As Kaeya walked, his mind replayed fragments of his relationship with Y/n—the arguments, the unresolved conflicts, the fragile trust that teetered on the edge of doubt. His affair with another woman was a secret he buried deep within, a clandestine escape from the complexities of his relationship with Y/n.
Despite the trust she placed in him, their relationship had become a battleground of misunderstandings and disagreements, leaving Kaeya seeking solace in moments that promised temporary respite from the turmoil.
Arriving at a nondescript location, Kaeya's heart clenched with a mixture of guilt and desperation. His actions were veiled in secrecy, a facade carefully constructed to shield his indiscretions from the piercing gaze of the one he professed to care for.
The night enveloped him in a shroud of secrecy as he stepped into the dimly lit establishment, seeking solace in the embrace of someone who offered fleeting comfort amidst the chaos of his tangled emotions.
~
In the following days, Y/n remained unaware of Kaeya's clandestine activities. Oblivious to his indiscretions, she poured her heart into mending the frayed threads of their relationship. Determined to reconcile the rifts that had formed between them, she approached Kaeya with a genuine desire to heal their bond.
Their conversations became more heartfelt, sprinkled with laughter and moments of genuine connection. Y/n's efforts seemed to bear fruit as Kaeya reciprocated, his demeanor softer, his words carrying a sincerity that momentarily masked the shadows lurking beneath the surface.
They took walks in the park, shared meals together, and engaged in heartfelt conversations that hinted at a semblance of normalcy returning to their relationship. Y/n's heart swelled with hope, believing that perhaps they were finally moving past the storm that had clouded their connection.
Kaeya, too, found solace in these moments, the guilt of his actions momentarily pushed aside by the warmth of Y/n's efforts to mend their relationship. He immersed himself in these fleeting moments of tranquility, longing for a semblance of peace amidst the chaos he had wrought.
However, beneath the facade of reconciliation, lies the unspoken truth that threatened to unravel everything. The shadows of Kaeya's infidelity lingered, a ticking time bomb poised to shatter the fragile peace they were trying so desperately to rebuild.
As the days passed, the tension simmered beneath the surface, casting a looming shadow over their efforts to mend what was broken.
~
The following week there was a party for one of their mutual friend and the three were invited along with others, the night was alive with music and laughter as Y/n, Kaeya, and Diluc found themselves at a lively party. The atmosphere seemed to resonate with joy, momentarily pushing aside the shadows that lingered within their intertwined relationships. The trio immersed themselves in the festivities, trying to relive the carefree moments of their past.
As the night progressed, Y/n couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Kaeya's discomfort was evident, his usual charm overshadowed by an unspoken tension. Concern etched across her face, she leaned towards Kaeya and gently asked, "Is everything okay, Kaeya? Do you want to go home?"
Kaeya, attempting to mask his unease, dismissed her concern with a forced smile. "I'm fine. Just need a moment," he replied, excusing himself to the restroom.
But Y/n, intuition guiding her, noticed Kaeya heading in the opposite direction. Suspicion gnawed at her, and without a second thought, she discreetly followed him, weaving through the vibrant crowd until she overheard a conversation that shattered the illusion of their mended relationship.
"I told you! I'm done with you. Things are fine between Y/n and me now, so leave me alone, we're done" Kaeya's voice, laced with frustration and anger, sliced through the air. Y/n's heart sank as the weight of his words settled in, and she noticed a woman standing close to Kaeya, way to close for her likings, and she connected the dots.
Staggering back to the heart of the party, her emotions in turmoil, Y/n sought refuge in a cascade of shots, the bitter liquid offering a temporary escape. Diluc, sensing her distress, intercepted her path, a furrow forming on his brow. "Y/n?" he called out, concern etched across his face.
She looked up, her eyes clouded with a mix of pain and confusion. "Diluc," she muttered, her voice trembling. "I thought… I thought things were getting better."
Diluc, his gaze piercing through the facade of the lively party, guided Y/n to a quieter corner. "What happened? Tell me," he urged, his concern deepening as he sensed the unraveling of their carefully constructed reality.
Y/n just shrugged, intoxicated already, as her words were slurred, "Take me home please."
Diluc's worry intensified as he noticed Y/n's slurred words and the haze of intoxication clouding her usual clarity. Without hesitation, he nodded solemnly, supporting her as they made their way out of the party.
The night air was a sharp contrast to the chaotic energy of the gathering, the silence enveloping them as they ventured back towards their apartment. Y/n leaned on Diluc, her thoughts a tangled mess amidst the alcohol-induced haze.
They walked in a heavy silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Diluc's concern for Y/n deepened, his mind grappling with the weight of the situation. He wanted to ask, to understand, but the inebriated state Y/n was in made him choose silence, allowing her the space she needed in that moment.
Upon reaching their apartment, Diluc guided Y/n inside, settling her down with a glass of water. She sat on the couch, her eyes distant, the events of the night casting a shadow over her usual vivacious spirit.
"Are you okay?" Diluc finally ventured, his voice gentle, yet filled with worry.
Y/n's response was a weary nod, her gaze fixed on a distant point. "I just want to forget tonight," she mumbled, her words tinged with both sadness and frustration.
Diluc sighed softly, a mix of emotions swirling within him. He wanted to erase the pain etched on her face, to shield her from the hurt caused by the unraveling of their relationships. But in that moment, all he could offer was quiet companionship.
Sitting beside her, he draped a blanket over Y/n's shoulders, a silent gesture of comfort.
The apartment was draped in an unsettling silence, disrupted only by the occasional sound of Y/n's stifled sniffling. Diluc sat beside her, the air heavy with unspoken words. The glow of their phones intermittently broke the stillness as notifications from Kaeya flooded in.
Diluc picked up his phone, the screen ablaze with messages from his brother. The words flickered with concern, confusion, and a hint of desperation. Each message intensified the guilt that gnawed at Diluc. He hesitated for a moment, conflicted, before crafting a calculated response.
"Hey, have you seen Y/n?" Kaeya's message read. Diluc replied, his fingers moving deliberately across the screen, "I don't know. I haven't seen her, I left the party early." The next message came quickly, "Diluc? Where are you?" "I'm out for some fresh air. Don't worry about it," Diluc replied, a lie dripping from his words. "Are you and Y/n together?" Diluc's jaw clenched, the weight of deception settling in. "No, we're not. I don't know where she is either."
The messages kept coming, each one more desperate than the last. Diluc, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration, decided to take a drastic step. He turned off his phone, then reached over to Y/n's, silencing the incessant buzzing.
The room fell into a profound silence once again, the digital world shut out as Diluc contemplated the consequences of his actions. Y/n, still lost in her thoughts, remained oblivious to the web of lies being woven around her.
"You know, I loved you when I first saw you," Y/n murmured breaking the silence, her words slurred with the effects of the alcohol. Diluc's heart skipped a beat at Y/n's confession, her words lingering in the air like a delicate melody. He felt her soft touch cupping his face, her intoxicated gaze meeting his.
Diluc's breath caught in his throat. "W-what?" he stammered, unable to conceal the surprise and a flicker of hope that danced in his eyes.
Y/n giggled, her laughter echoing in the quiet room. She leaned into him, her words a cascade of raw emotions. "Yeah, but I thought you didn't feel the same, so I moved on."
The confession hung in the air, a revelation that seemed to stretch the boundaries of time. Diluc, grappling with the weight of her words, felt a rush of conflicting emotions. The revelation opened a door to a past that he had carefully locked away.
Still intoxicated, Y/n huffed, her expression thoughtful. "I wonder if things would've been different if…"
Diluc's curiosity peaked. "If what?" he pressed, the air thick with unspoken possibilities.
"If I didn't move on," Y/n mused, her gaze distant, lost in a world of 'what-ifs.'
Y/n's words flowed in a gentle, intoxicated cadence, her eyes glazed with memories of a distant past. "I thought your red hair was so pretty," she confessed softly, her voice carrying a wistful tone. "When you were carrying the boxes and caught me peeking, I froze on the spot."
Diluc's heart fluttered at her words, a rush of emotions surging within him. Her confession painted a vivid picture of their intertwined past, bringing to light emotions he had long buried.
Y/n, now lost in reminiscence, continued, "You looked so serious, but there was something in your eyes… I don't know, I just couldn't look away."
Her words wrapped around Diluc, unraveling the layers of his guarded heart. The memories of their shared past flooded his mind, a kaleidoscope of moments he had cherished and kept hidden.
"I remember that day," he admitted quietly, a hint of vulnerability seeping into his tone. "I was nervous, moving into a new neighborhood and caught someone watching me."
Y/n's gaze met his, a mixture of nostalgia and newfound understanding in her eyes. "I didn't think you'd remember," she said, a small smile playing on her lips.
Diluc's lips curved into a tender smile. "How could I forget?" he murmured, the weight of unspoken emotions lingering between them.
Y/n, her mood lightening, decided to break the emotional tension with a playful joke. "I mean, who would've thought, right?" she teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Me, falling for the guy carrying boxes like some romance novel cliche."
Diluc chuckled, the weight in the room lifting with her lighthearted remark. "Well, if life were a romance novel, we'd be in for quite the plot twist."
Y/n grinned, her laughter echoing in the room. "Plot twist? More like a rollercoaster with unexpected loops and turns."
As their banter continued, Diluc found himself caught in the current of shared memories and newfound openness. The air, still tinged with laughter, carried a sense of vulnerability that lingered between them.
He glanced at Y/n, her eyes sparkling with the remnants of intoxication, and a sudden surge of courage overcame him. "You know," he began, his tone sincere, "that day, when I caught you looking at me, something changed for me too."
Y/n's gaze shifted to him, curiosity replacing the playful glint in her eyes. "Changed? How so?"
Diluc took a deep breath, his words weighed with a vulnerability he seldom revealed. "I fell for you that same day, Y/n. But… I was scared. Scared of ruining our friendship, scared of what it might mean. So, I kept it to myself."
Y/n's expression softened, a mix of surprise and understanding in her eyes. "You… liked me back then?"
Diluc nodded, a rueful smile playing on his lips. "More than I'd like to admit. But I didn't want to complicate things."
Y/n, despite the intoxication, sensed the sincerity in Diluc's words. She reached over, gently placing a hand on his, a silent acknowledgment of the shared emotions that had long remained unspoken.
In the hushed aftermath of their confessions, Diluc's gaze inadvertently drifted to Y/n's lips. A subtle tension hung in the air, charged with unspoken desires that had lingered beneath the surface for far too long.
Y/n, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, felt her heartbeat quicken. The room seemed to contract, leaving only the shared vulnerability and the unspoken tension that wove a delicate web between them.
Diluc gulped, the weight of his unspoken feelings pulsating in the charged air. His eyes lingered on Y/n's lips for a fleeting moment, a silent admission of the desires he had long suppressed.
The silence stretched, a breath caught in the precipice of anticipation. The confessions, the shared history, and the unspoken currents of attraction converged in that suspended moment.
Y/n, her own heart racing, met Diluc's gaze with a mixture of understanding and a hint of something more. The delicate dance between them, once obscured by fear and hesitation, now unfolded in the quiet space they had created.
It was a moment suspended in time, a culmination of unspoken desires and shared emotions. Diluc, emboldened by the absence of discomfort in Y/n's response, closed the distance between them.
Their lips met in a gentle collision, a tender exploration that ignited a familiar spark, reigniting the embers of feelings long suppressed. The kiss became an intricate dance, their tongues engaged in a silent conversation, each movement a testament to the depth of their unspoken desires.
Y/n, feeling the rush of emotions, snaked her hand around Diluc's neck, pulling him closer, a silent plea for more. Diluc, overcome by the whirlwind of old feelings resurfacing, responded with a delicate urgency.
As the kiss deepened, a rush of familiarity intertwined with the rush of something new. Diluc gently guided Y/n back, the cushions of the couch providing a soft landing. Their embrace grew more passionate, the past and present colliding in a whirlwind of emotions and unspoken truths.
Y/n's hands moved with a deliberate slowness, undoing the buttons of Diluc's shirt one by one.
Diluc's hands roamed, a gentle exploration of Y/n's body. Fingers traced the contours of her skin, mapping the familiar terrain as if committing every curve to memory. The silence between them spoke volumes, a language of shared desire and unspoken understanding.
As the last button gave way, Diluc's shirt hung open, revealing a vulnerability that mirrored the emotions swirling within them. Y/n's gaze met his, a silent confirmation to continue, Diluc opened her shirt andas the fabric slipped away, revealing the canvas of Y/n's vulnerability. Diluc's gaze lingered on her, a mixture of desire and appreciation.
Diluc's lips traced a delicate path along Y/n's skin, planting gentle kisses that reverberated with a whisper of adoration. Each tender touch conveyed a silent admiration, a tribute to the beauty laid bare before him.
"So beautiful," he murmured softly against her skin, the words a breathless affirmation of the emotions stirring within him. His voice carried a tender reverence, as if acknowledging the intricacies of the moment they shared.
Y/n's breath hitched at his words, a rush of emotions coursing through her.
"Please love me, Diluc." Y/n's whispered plea hung in the air, a vulnerable admission that resonated with the depth of their shared intimacy. Diluc, his heart responding to the raw emotion in her voice, looked into her eyes, his own filled with a mixture of understanding and tenderness.
He cradled her face in his hands, his touch gentle yet possessive. "I already do," he confessed, his voice a soft murmur that mirrored the vulnerability of the moment.
Y/n's hands grazed through his hair, fingers threading the strands with a quiet desperation.
Diluc leaned down and wrapped his lips around Y/n's nipple, and his right hand continued to tease her other nipple between his pointer and middle finger. She whimpered feeling the cold touch on her sensitive area. Diluc then gently grazed his teeth against her nipple.
"Stop teasing..", She whimpered
Diluc, pulled away, making a pop sound, his gaze fixed on her, couldn't help but chuckle softly at her plea. "Teasing you?" He feigned innocence, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "I wouldn't dream of it."
Y/n peeked out from behind the cushion, her eyes dancing with a mix of amusement and a hint of anticipation. "Sure.." she countered, a smile playing on her lips.
Diluc moved closer, a soft grin tugging at his lips. "Okay, okay," he relented, his tone light but filled with affection. "No more teasing."
His lips traced a trail of soft kisses from Y/n's stomach down to her thighs. Each gentle caress sent shivers through her, a silent acknowledgment of the heightened intimacy they were exploring.
Y/n's breath caught, her fingers instinctively threading through Diluc's hair. The air was charged with a blend of desire and anticipation, a symphony of sensations that echoed the unspoken connection between them.
Diluc, his movements deliberate and tender, mapped the contours of Y/n's skin with a reverence that transcended words.
As he reached her sweet cunt, which was already dripping, he couldn't help but muse, "Already so wet for me?"
"S-shut up," She tried closing her thighs, but Diluc firmly held them apart, "Not so soon, love"
As he lifts her thighs, gently placing it on his shoulders, he then sucked and licked her cunt with a gentle insistence, as if savoring the taste of a cherished elixir. Y/n's breath caught at the intensity of the sensation, a shiver running down her spine. The air thickened with a heady mixture of desire and the unspoken connection that enveloped them.
Diluc, lost in the moment, continued his ministrations, Y/n felt a familiar knot forming in her stomach, as fingers tangled in Diluc's hair, gripping it with a newfound intensity.
"Diluc I- I'm close..", Y/n gasps, a mess of muffled moans flow, as he flicks his tongue over her clit harder, faster, alternating between circles, sides, ups and downs.
Moaning against her clit, Diluc licks all around her entrance and swollen nub, only slowing pace when he feels her hands tug harsh at his strands, an enticing moan filling the room.
He allows Y/n to ride out her high, as his hand grazes the inside of her thighs as she collected herself. He looks up as he glances at the throbbing cunt once again, and wipes his face. "Such a good girl for me", He teases.
Diluc's teasing words hung in the air, a playful provocation that added a layer of intimacy to the charged atmosphere. Y/n, her grip still firm in his hair, met his gaze with a mixture of amusement and desire.
"Oh, am I now?" she countered, a playful glint in her eyes as she leaned in closer.
Diluc chuckled, his voice a low murmur. "Very good," he affirmed, his words carrying a subtle intensity that mirrored the growing connection between them.
"But Diluc, I wanna make you feel good too," she expressed, her voice a delicate whisper that echoed in the room.
Diluc, meeting her gaze with a softness in his eyes, gently cupped her face. "No, Y/n, it isn't about me tonight," he responded, his tone carrying a quiet assurance. "Tonight is about you."
Their exchange became a poignant moment of shared vulnerability and selflessness. In the quiet space they had created, the unspoken understanding hung heavy, a mutual acknowledgment of the depth of their connection.
The room, now a haven of shared intimacy, held an atmosphere of tenderness and trust. Diluc's choice to prioritize Y/n's pleasure became a silent declaration of the genuine connection they shared, transcending the physical into something more profound.
~
The soft morning light bathed the room, casting a gentle glow on Y/n, still peacefully asleep after the night of shared intimacy. Diluc, having ensured she was comfortably cleaned up, stood by the bedside, a mixture of tenderness and determination in his eyes.
He bent down, pressing a gentle kiss on Y/n's forehead, a silent promise lingering in the touch. "I'll come by later," he whispered softly, as if affirming the unspoken connection that had unfolded between them.
Diluc took a moment to gaze at Y/n, the vulnerability of sleep casting her in a delicate light. With a final, lingering look, he straightened up, a sense of purpose guiding his movements.
The room, once a sanctuary of shared moments, now held the echoes of their connection. Diluc quietly gathered his belongings, leaving behind the quiet assurance of his presence.

As Diluc reached his apartment, his disheveled appearance betraying the events of the night, found Kaeya sitting on the doorstep of their home. The worry etched on Kaeya's face was unmistakable as his eyes scanned Diluc's disarrayed hair and the faint traces of lingering intimacy.
"Where did you go last night, Diluc?" Kaeya asked, his voice laced with concern, yet tinged with a hint of confusion. The realization seemed to dawn on him as he took in his brother's appearance, noting the subtle signs that suggested Diluc had spent the night with someone.
Diluc, weighing his words carefully, met Kaeya's gaze. "I had some things to take care of," he replied, a vague answer that did little to ease Kaeya's worry.
Kaeya, still trying to piece together the puzzle, furrowed his brow. "Things? Diluc, you look like you've been through more than just 'things,'" he remarked, the worry deepening in his eyes.
Diluc, maintaining a stoic demeanor, offered no further explanation.
Kaeya's worry deepened as he pressed Diluc for answers. "Why didn't you answer my calls? Nor my texts?" he questioned, a mix of concern and confusion in his voice. "I understand if you were with someone, but still..."
Diluc, feeling the weight of Kaeya's scrutiny, bit his tongue, torn between his loyalty to his brother and the unspoken events of the night with Y/n. The worry in Kaeya's eyes mirrored the unease in Diluc's heart.
"Y/n isn't answering my calls and texts either," Kaeya continued, his concern now extending to their shared friend. "She left without saying anything. I'm worried for her."
Diluc, caught in a web of conflicting emotions, hesitated before responding. "I haven't heard from her either," he admitted, careful not to reveal too much.
~
Kaeya, fueled with worry then declared that he would go meet Y/n himself. Before Diluc could interject, Kaeya swiftly left, leaving a lingering tension in the air.
As Kaeya reached Y/n's home, he rang the bell, anxiety coursing through him.
As Y/n faced Kaeya at the door, her expression masked the turmoil within. Kaeya, oblivious to the fact that she had overheard his infidelity, attempted to explain his worry. "Y/n, what happened? Why did you leave without a word? Are you okay?"
Y/n, wrestling with the betrayal she had witnessed, forced a tight-lipped smile. "I'm fine, Kaeya. I just needed some time alone," she replied, her voice betraying none of the hurt she felt.
Kaeya, sensing the distance in her demeanor, persisted. "But why didn't you answer my calls or texts? I was worried about you."
Her facade cracked momentarily, a flicker of hurt in her eyes. "I... I needed some space, Kaeya. I'll be fine," she assured him, her words carefully chosen to hide the anguish she harbored.
A realization dawned on Kaeya as he looked at Y/n's face, noting the subtle signs that mirrored his brother's appearance. The swollen lips, the distant gaze – it all clicked into place. The pieces of the puzzle fell together, revealing a connection that he hadn't considered before.
He remembered the silent phones, the early departure from the party, and now, the shared physical traces between Y/n and his brother. The weight of the revelation settled in, and Kaeya's expression shifted from concern to a mixture of shock and realization.
"Oh," he mumbled, the truth hitting him like a sudden revelation. The unspoken understanding unfolded before him, the shared secret that had eluded his awareness.
Y/n, sensing Kaeya's realization, met his gaze with a guarded expression. The air between them held a heavy silence, pregnant with the unspoken acknowledgment of the events that transpired the night before.
Kaeya's voice trembled with a mixture of shock, hurt, and disbelief. "You... cheated on me with my own brother?" His words hung in the air, barely above a whisper, heavy with the weight of the truth he had just uncovered.
Y/n, faced with the accusation veiled in disbelief, struggled to find words to explain. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on her, her heart pounding with the realization that the secret had been unveiled.
"I..." she began, her voice faltering as she grappled with the turmoil of the situation.
Kaeya's expression betrayed a mixture of pain and betrayal, his emotions raw and unguarded. The silence between them seemed to stretch, a tense pause filled with unspoken questions and shattered trust.

As Diluc arrived at the scene, a sense of impending turmoil weighed heavily in the air. Kaeya stood, his facade barely holding, emotions swirling beneath the surface. Y/n, aware of the gravity of the situation, stood there awkwardly, lost for words.
The tension was palpable, and Diluc could sense the brewing storm. He stepped forward, his expression a mixture of concern and apprehension, taking in the scene before him.
"Kaeya…" Diluc began, his voice laced with urgency, attempting to diffuse the mounting tension. "Let's talk, please." His gaze shifted between his brother and Y/n, a silent plea for a moment of understanding and resolution.
Kaeya's emotions were a tempest on the verge of breaking, his voice wavering as he struggled to process the revelation. "Did this really happen?" he managed to utter, his gaze shifting between Y/n and Diluc, seeking an explanation.
Y/n, caught in the swirling emotions of the moment, was suddenly reminded of Kaeya's previous infidelity. The realization struck her like a bolt of lightning, and she clenched her fists, a surge of anger and hurt welling up within her.
The atmosphere, already heavy with tension, became charged with the complexities of their shared history. Y/n's gaze shifted between Diluc and Kaeya, a storm of conflicting emotions playing out on her face.
"You cheated on me first," she blurted out, her voice laced with a mixture of accusation and pain.
Y/n's words cut through the charged atmosphere, a final declaration that severed the last remnants of trust between them. "Our relationship ended the moment you warmed another woman's bed, Kaeya. You do not have the right to say anything anymore." Her voice, a mixture of pain and resolve, echoed in the air.
Kaeya, faced with the consequences of his actions and the revelation that Y/n had overheard his conversation with the other woman, felt the weight of his mistakes crashing down on him. The gravity of the situation became palpable, and he stood there, a shattered expression revealing the depth of his remorse.
As Y/n closed the door behind her, the weight of the situation settled heavily within her. Her emotions were a tumultuous storm, unsure of where to settle amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, Diluc and Kaeya walked back home, the silence between them deafening.
Once they reached home, Kaeya broke the heavy silence, his voice tinged with remorse. "Treat her better than I did," he uttered, a mix of regret and resignation in his words. Diluc glanced at his brother, his gaze reflecting sympathy for the predicament they found themselves in.
"Diluc, our relationship is past repair.. there's nothing her and I could do. I messed up," Kaeya continued, the weight of his actions heavy on his shoulders.
Diluc, his voice a mixture of understanding and concern, responded softly, "We both did, Kaeya. It's not just you." He acknowledged the shared responsibility they held in the events that transpired.
~
In the months that followed, Diluc and Kaeya worked on rebuilding their brotherly relationship, each making an effort to bridge the gaps that had formed between them. Kaeya, wistful and remorseful, encouraged Diluc to pursue his feelings for Y/n, urging him not to repeat the mistakes they had made in the past.
As time passed, Kaeya and Y/n eventually found closure in their relationship, having come to terms with their shared history. Meanwhile, Diluc and Y/n's bond gradually deepened, blossoming into a love that had been simmering beneath the surface for years.
~~
Fast forward five years, at the wedding, Kaeya stood as one of the best men, witnessing Y/n's radiant presence. Her gaze, unwavering and filled with warmth, remained fixated on Diluc as she walked down the aisle, holding a bouquet of flowers.
As Y/n smiled shyly at Diluc, a pang of regret tugged at Kaeya's heart. He wished things had been different, that he had been stronger and resisted the temporary temptations that led him away from his chance at lasting happiness.
"Forever looks good on her," Kaeya whispered to himself, his gaze lingering on the couple exchanging vows. The ache of missed opportunities echoed within him, a silent plea for a different path taken.
~
In the evening, amidst the celebration, Diluc and Y/n, now happily married, gracefully interacted with their guests. Their joy was palpable, radiating as they engaged in lively conversations and shared heartfelt moments.
Kaeya, despite masking his own hurt, teased the newlyweds with playful banter, a facade to cover the ache in his heart. He adorned his words with humor and jest, ensuring the atmosphere remained light and cheerful for the couple.
"Ah, look at the lovebirds," Kaeya chimed in, flashing a playful grin. "Don't you two ever get tired of looking so incredibly in love?"
Diluc and Y/n exchanged a knowing glance, their smiles warm and genuine. "Never," Y/n replied, her eyes sparkling with happiness as she glanced at Diluc.
Kaeya continued to tease, diverting attention away from his own emotions, determined not to cast a shadow over the joyous occasion.
As the evening unfolded, amidst laughter and merriment, Kaeya ensured that the spotlight remained on the happiness of the newlyweds, even if it meant concealing his own heartache.

-
The dimly lit bar echoed with the sounds of clinking glasses and hushed murmurs from patrons scattered throughout the building. Some were there to share a dinner with their family, and others were loud with celebration. Yet, in this atmosphere of joy, you found yourself the odd one out.
The purpose of coming to the bar tonight had long left you, drowned in the constant noise and the swirling currents of conversations around you. The air hung heavy with the scent of various liquors, wines, and as you sat amidst the lively crowd, all you could do was let your thoughts attempt to bubble into something coherent before completely vanishing.
“ Ughhh .” you groaned under your breath. How did this happen? You were so drunk you couldn’t remember what was even in your drink, let alone how you managed to finish it all plus several others.
Empty beer mugs were stacked haphazardly around you, evidence to the hours you had spent here. Your thoughts were jumbled and slurred and any attempt to make sense of them ended with an expected failure. “I want more.” The words stumbled out on their own. “I want to order something sweet.”
Charles, who was only a few steps away, turned to face you. The friendly, familiar bartender smiled at you, followed by a firm head shake. "No can do, little lady." With a quick denial, he started to gather the glasses cluttered around you. "Yer already sloshed beyond limit. "
“ Charles !”
“None of that whining. I would have cut you off earlier if I wasn’t swamped tonight. I’m gonna have to find someone to bring ya home.” He glanced around. “and I gotta start getting ready to close. Closing early tonight! Big plans—.”
Despite his words being clearly spoken, you found it increasingly difficult to clearly hear him. The subtle movement of his lips became a blur, and strangely enough, the more you blankly stared at him, the more you forgot what he looked like. The sounds coming out of his mouth seemed to fall on deaf ears as your attention drifted into an abstract haze.
You allowed your head to fall back into the empty air. The corners of your mouth quivered feebly, attempting to form a smile that refused to come to light. Suddenly, your body convulsed as your head involuntarily fell forward and vomit forced its way out of your throat and into some sort of rustic bucket in front of you. The acrid taste of bile and alcohol lingered in your mouth, making you gag even more. Your breath was heavy and you gulped harshly to suppress the desire to puke more.
You were confused, drunk, sick, and you wanted to ask why the bar was across the room when you were sitting there not even two seconds ago. Did you move yourself or did someone move you? Maybe you were teleporting.
As the wave of nausea passed, you lifted your head, opening your eyes to a blurry world. Shapes and colors swirled around you, and you could hear fragments of sentences from other voices. Your head felt like it was spinning out of control, and the sounds around you were distorted and garbled. Then, for just a moment, all the different lines and textures and colors of reality lined back up together to form visuals you could actually understand.
Three individuals you couldn’t make out stood in the empty bar. ‘When did everyone leave?’, you wondered. The bucket in front of you is filled with the remnants of your previous meal, or lack thereof. All of them were talking and still you couldn’t make out any of the voices.
“ I’ll go home by myself,” It came out as more of a sob. One of the figures, someone you knew yet couldn’t recognize, was swift to stand by your side and rub your back. The compassion you could feel from them reminded you of your mother which made you break into another drunken sob. They quietly spoke sweet words you couldn’t stop yourself from ignoring. “I’m– no , I'm fine!” Stumbling through the thick haze of inebriation. Whatever they were trying to tell you wasn’t important enough for you to retain the information. More words tumbled their way out of your throat, but you were none the wiser to what was being said.
Their voices continued to speak, but moments were slipping away from you. Everything around you felt like scattered fragments of a dream. A dream you were enjoying.
-
The shrill sound of bells forced you awake.
You bolted upright unintentionally. The unstable bed shook, creating a wobble which tossed you off the side of the bed and straight onto the floor. Strings of curses escaped your lips, but you gathered yourself and sat on the edge of the bed; burying your head into the rough flesh of your palms.
The events from the previous night were blurry. Fragments of memories were somewhat understandable; only due to the burning shame in your chest and pounding headache. You remember going to the bar and throwing up, afterwards you ran out to go home... then... bricks. Lots of bricks. What was that about, you wondered?
“Oh my god…” you mumbled.
You glanced up and came face to face with today’s chaotic appearance. Your hair was messy enough to represent a rat’s nest. And geez, you didn’t want to even mention the sorry state of your eyes. The unfashionable black circles were darker than usual, creating a sharp glare. If a child saw you, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for them to scream, "Mommy, there's a raccoon trying to impersonate a human again!"
This was a daily thing. Looking in your mirror and pointing out any flaw you can find. Some people might argue it's not good for your mental well-being, but for you, it was a comforting routine. It brought some order into your life, something you could rely on.
You'd even think of ways to fix yourself. A haircut could sort out the messy hair, and maybe some skincare advice from Marjorie could help with those tired-looking eyes.
Yep, with just a little touch up you could really sparkle. Similarly to the ruby ring on your dresser.
…...?
A ring?
There, on the dresser, a vibrant ruby ring laid, catching the light and dazzling in your gaze. The gem alone was huge, but the gold accents made your mouth fall open! Confusion set in like a fog. That can’t be right; for you knew you could never own, let alone afford, such an extravagant ring.
You attempted to think back and decode your blurry memories to figure out how this ring even got here, but you knew it would be a failed effort. You can’t even remember how you got home!
You were left with one giant question. How did this ring end up here?
Oh goodness… you could only pray you haven't accidentally turned into a mugger. If getting blackout drunk transformed you into a thief, your drinking would be developing into a real problem and that wasn't the case! You never drink by yourself so that means you're perfectly fine.
Surely, there was a reasonable explanation. Perhaps you struck someone's fancy and they gifted you this ring as an attempt to capture your favor?
You glanced back over at the mirror. Nope, you've unquestionably sunk to the station of a mere thief.
With your sole concern being speed, you swiftly dressed and tidied up your hair as best as you could. There was only one thing you could do; return to the scene of the crime and figure out step by step what events led to the ring to end up in your home. And god forbid, if you did end up stealing the ring, you were prepared to humble yourself and plead with them not to press charges.
You wouldn’t be able to survive in jail! They don't allow prisoners to go to the bar!
As you power walked back towards Angel’s Share, suppressing the anxiety of facing the consequences of the previous night, one name dominated your thoughts: Mr. Six-Fingered Jose. He was an excellent friend, a genuinely kind soul who continues to uplift you despite your obvious flaws. The best part is, he sings at the bar almost every night. Surely, he must have seen you last night at Angel’s Share and can give you some sort of summary of what occurred.
Best case scenario, Jose can confirm that the only crime committed last night was the embarrassing display you can only assume you provided.
Worst case scenario, he already contacted the authorities and is currently giving them your description.
The building came into view and you swallowed any lingering anxiety as you walked inside. And if Jose doesn't have any information to help, Charles absolutely should. “You’re fine,” you thought to yourself, “one conversation and all this worry will go away.”
The tavern's warm wooden exterior came as a surprise. You were used to the cluttered atmosphere during the evening. The knights dragging their buddies in and out of the bar, the inside flooded with loud singing and lots of beer.
Potted flowers hanged along the windowsills and families seemed to be enjoying a meal together out in the sun. The sight put a thought in your head you never had about the establishment before.
How peaceful. Why would anyone drink at home when they can come here?
As you stepped inside, the interior was flooded with natural light, revealing more patrons eating, chatting and spending quality time in a social setting. The scent of brewing tea and the hum of conversation filled the air, much different from your usual visits. Amidst the lively day-time experience, there was a disappointing absence. The spot by the door, where Jose usually performed, was empty. You blinked a few times, your gaze transfixed, similar to a hydro slime caught in the blinding glare of a sudden fire. A dreadful feeling of idiocy crept up your spine as it dawned on you that the only lead you had wasn’t at the tavern because Jose only plays here at night!
You were so concerned with the sudden appearance of your, or whoever's, ring, that you didn’t take into account the time of day. Jose doesn’t waste his days confining his performances to the tavern alone. He wasn’t like you, he had a life beyond this place, other audiences to impress, and possibly more enjoyable company elsewhere.
Well, the simple choice would have been to walk out and continue your obligation of figuring out the events of last night. But you walked all this way! Surely, it’s alright to stay for a brief moment. A glass of wine is a must, especially in a troubled situation such as this one.
The bar was empty, but that didn’t surprise you. It was always quiet when you first arrived, with people trickling in as the night went on. Besides, it wasn’t like you came here earlier for the sole purpose to drink. You just had a good reason to come here and a good reason to drink.
A sense of shame welled up inside you, with the rational part of your mind warning against the terrible idea of drinking this early, especially after last night which possibly involved theft. But still, your heart rate was skyrocketing and you felt your breaths getting choppy. This ring was making you anxious.
“Just one glass is okay, it'll make the hangover more bearable” you justified to yourself, “and you’re in a stressful situation. It’ll chill you out."
Plus, while drinking you can speak to Charles. You vividly remember him cutting you off, so he might have an answer and you won’t even need to bother Jose with more of your troubles, so going to the bar is actually a great idea. The glass of wine is icing on the cake.
“Now may I ask why you’re here so early?” The words spilled from lips you didn’t know. With an air of sophistication and directness; it was obvious this wasn’t Charles. You had been so in your head about last night causing you to overlook the fact that an unrecognizable figure now occupied Charles's customary spot and, worst of all, was wearing his uniform.
...What intense eyes.
It was the first thing you noticed from the striking figure; deep, fierce ruby eyes. Matching red hair was tied neatly into a bun, adding some flair to his proper appearance. Chiseled facial features, followed by a strong jawline and high cheekbones, you could gather that he was a younger man.
And yet, the allure of his looks was overshadowed by the rude intentions the young man brought forth with his words. His furrowed eyebrows, on top of a glare not so subtly hidden, presented the first ever unwelcoming attitude you witnessed in this establishment.
“Excuse me?”
“It’s noon.” The unnamed bartender pointed his finger towards a clock, not even bothering to look in its direction. He was too busy gazing ahead, seemingly scanning something. Perhaps other customers.
You didn't know how to respond. This rando’s audacity actually had you stunned! What was he implying here? You mean, he could be busy tending to other odd jobs before the flow of bar-goers hits and is annoyed you interrupted that, after all he did seem distracted, but with that glare? No, he's absolutely shaming you for drinking wine this early.
You wanted to scream at him, get over it! Making drinks is the main part of the job and you should be ready to do it whenever! Even Charles, who has kicked you out a few times and cut you off more times then you can count, always maintained his professionalism within the job.
“And…? The bar is open at noon isn't it...?” You fired back, heat creeping up your spine and igniting an intense warmth in your cheeks. You haven’t even ordered yet. Glancing around, you spoke with a bit of huff in your tone. “Is Charles around?”
With a raised eyebrow, he responded “He is not.”
“Where is he?”
“How come you’re asking?” The red headed man stopped the minimal cleaning he was tending to, leaning onto one elbow against the bar and giving you his full attention. “Did you come here to speak to him?”
It was as if you were in an integration seat. “Well, no, I was looking for Jose. Not that it’s any of your business.” With a sigh, you avert his gaze. Eye contact makes you nervous. "But, if you must know, he isn’t here so I thought I'd speak to Charles. Glass of red wine, please.”
The red-headed man crossed his arms, his gaze unwavering and filled with suspicion. Frustration lingered as you tried to understand why this guy would be here instead of Charles. He lacks social manners! Why would they hire him? You didn’t even know they were hiring!
"Why do you need to talk to Charles if you were originally looking for Jose?" he inquired.
Letting out an over dramatic sigh, you sank back in your barstool. “None of your business.” your eyes wandered to the enticing array of wines displayed on a shelf behind the bar. “Just get me a glass of red wine, please .”
The bartender clicked his tongue disapprovingly. "Your attitude wasn’t this unpleasant last night."
"Attitude?" You began to raise your voice. Your body was halfway off the stool, preparing to create a scene. However, when the eyes of nosy customers bore into you, transforming your surroundings into a sea of awkward silence. You couldn't help but cringe at yourself as you shifted back into your seat, realizing your impulses always find new ways to embarrass yourself.
The bartender, with an eyebrow furrowed, was still looking at you as if he was waiting for a response.
“Wait, huh?” Your head tilted sideways, “You said last night?”
“Yes.”
“You mean, you saw me last, last night?”
“…Yes.” His lips pressed together in a straight line. “Remember? We talked lots about–”
“Oh my god!” Jumping out of your stool, unintentionally creating the scene you just narrowly avoided, but that was no longer a concern. There was a break in the case! “We were here, right? At Angel's Share?”
"I guess you could say that…" His nose scrunched up.
"You guess?!" More eyes focused on you. Embarrassed but trying to stay cool, you cleared your throat, sat back in your seat, and lowered your voice. "Sorry, I meant—what do you mean by 'you guess'? Did you see me leave the bar?"
His expression tightened. It was strange—every part of his face was tense, from his stiff lips to his furrowed eyebrows. "…You were there. Don’t you remember?"
Why was he acting so weird? If he actually saw you last night, it shouldn't surprise him that you blacked out. "You saw me last night, but didn't notice how drunk I was? Of course I don't remember."
His eyes shifted, but he didn’t say a word.
Your demeanor transformed into a gentle plea for the answer. Initially, the bartender regarded you with a puzzled expression, as if you were speaking an ancient language, confused on why this interaction was taking place.
“It was painfully obvious you were drunk." He finally spoke. "But... to forget the entire night is unthinkable.”
"Well, news flash, liquor can do crazy stuff like that," you snapped, your voice sharper than intended. "Aren't you supposed to be a bartender? Shouldn't this be common for you?"
"This is my first day." He cocked his head to the side. "Surely, you would have seen me before if I was regularly working."
Yikes. You fell silent. After all, what could you possibly say in response to that? He got you good with that one.
If only Charles was here. You hated eye contact, yet here you were, locked in a silent stare with him. It felt like the final round of a staring contest, with a billion mora on the line. First, you wake up realizing you might’ve stolen a ring expensive enough to get you jail time, and now you have to deal with this… "aggravating roach."
"Did you say something?" "Yeah, I said, where's the wine I ordered?" You huffed. "Since Charles and Jose aren't here, and you aren't adding
You expected another snappy response, but instead, his face finally softened. Maybe if he kept it that way, the wrinkles on his forehead would ease up too. “…You were here past closing last night…” His tone wasn’t harsh. "I was here to talk with Charles about business. When I arrived, the place was supposed to be cleared out, but there you were. Head in a bucket. Jose was rubbing your back."
"And…?"
"….hm." He glanced to the side. "Jose walked you home."
Your smile transformed into a frown, the disappointment hitting hard. You had hoped for more—some crucial detail. Instead, all you got was a shrug and a nod, and the vague confirmation that Angel's Share was not the place the ring was snatched. Unless, of course, you pickpocket someone without anyone noticing, but that's absurd. How could you sneakily take a ring, drunk as hell, without anyone noticing? Especially when you were escorted home. The weight of the ring in your pocket felt heavier now, a reminder that you needed to figure out what the hell happened before there were any serious consequences.
He nodded, then turned his back to you, probably getting back to work. But who cared about his job? Certainly not you—what kind of bartender doesn't bring the wine after being asked twice? Whatever. That wasn't the goal right now.
Frantically, you reached into your pocket and pulled out the ruby ring, holding it delicately between your thumb and finger. You leaned forward, showing it to the aggravating roach. “Do you know whose ring this is?”
He glanced back for just a moment. “....It’s yours...?” The bell rang, notifying him that more customers walked inside. He turned over to the side, no longer looking at the ring.
Well isn't he unhelpful? Just loud and wrong. You parted your lips to speak, but then quickly shut them. Even if you knew it wasn’t a good idea to reveal to a stranger that you could possibly be a thief, especially one who asks so many questions for no reason. He absolutely seems like the type to report you to the Knights of Favinous! And yet, he was so quick to answer. It must be embarrassing for him to be so confident in an incorrect answer, but you can’t even point that out without exposing yourself. What a shame, that would have been good payback for earlier.
“That’s was a strange question,” he added, disrupting your thoughts. His attention was back on to you. “Do you not like it now that you’re sober?”
Is he implying you bought it when you were drunk last night? Funny, like you or him could ever afford such a ring. This is at least six months of your old salary.
You tried to think of a reasonable response. “It was… uh, lent… yeah, it was lent to me and I need to return it.” shaky reasoning, though it was all you had, “I’m just having some problems remembering… the wine... where's the wine I ordered?”
The man's lips tightened into a thin line before he pivoted and reached for a bottle of red wine. With no words, he poured the crimson liquid you had been yearning for into a glass. With an indifferent gesture, he placed it in front of you, not even granting you a glance anymore. "Jose performs near the Favonius Cathedral during the day, if you still want to talk to him.
"I'm well aware!" you retorted, quickly and untruthful, but he had already moved on to attend to another patron.
With shame, you brought the glass to your lips, allowing the robust flavor to momentarily distract you from the unsettling realization that this jerk seemed to know your friend better than you.

Diluc X Endangered Home Alone! Male Reader Modern AU
Tumblr media
"Where am I?? Why is it so dark in here??" You asked while looking around frantically, only to find out that were in your very own basement. "Hahaha," you heard a voice chuckle in the darkness. You tried to move but you quickly realized that you were tied to a chair tightly.
"Oh stop struggling, your death will be painless, I promise, Y/N." The voice said again before someone appeared from the darkness, you instantly knew the voice belonged to them. You tried to struggle even more until the person who kidnapped you pointed a sharp knife at you.
"What do you want from me??" You asked while yelling, "I just want to kill you that's all," the intruder replied before laughing maniacally. The intruder then walked up to you before putting the knife on your throat. "Please, don't do this!" you said while looking at the intruder pleadingly, but the intruder didn't cared.
The intruder then held the knife above your head, you cried profusely, knowing that your life is over. You began to see countless of flashes of you and your family and friends, and your boyfriend, Diluc. Diluc would always make sure you are loved and appreciated, and you would hate to leave him because you have been murdered by a careless psychopath.
Suddenly, you heard someone kicking the basement door open before they ran up to the intruder and busted their head with a glass bottle. "Y/N, are you okay??" They said, you knew who it was, Diluc. "Diluc??" You asked, "yes baby, it's me!" he replied before running up to you and untying you.
"Thank you so much Diluc, but how did you knew that I was kidnapped?" You asked before getting up, "I tried to call you multiple times, but I got no answer. That's when I knew something was wrong, so I decided to come over to your house to see if you are okay, and it's a good thing I did," Diluc replied.
After he said he you began to hug him tightly before he hugged you back, "thank you baby, I'm so sorry for getting you into this," you said. "Don't apologize Y/N, there's no way I'm going to let no psycho kill you," Diluc replied before kissing you gently before you kissed him back. After that you guys called the cops and pressed charges on the intruder.
A few months had passed since the traumatizing incident, and you decided to move in with Diluc. If he hadn't saved you that day, you wouldn't be here, but it's a good thing he did. After all, he is your boyfriend, and he'd rather go the extra mile just to make you feel safe.
A/N: hey guys, I hope you all like the fanfic. I'm currently home alone and this popped in my mind, so why not write for it, yeah? Hahaha

As expected, gaining entrance to a so-called “abyssal zone” was no easy task. Diluc handled the formalities (if you could really call them that) over the coming days, —managed to track down where the next zone would be opening, made arrangements for his entrance under the appropriate moniker of “The Phoenix,” and even managed to find time in the evenings to swing by your family’s bakery and give you the day’s rundown. Those times, however, his presence was much less unwelcome, much more expected, and he actually purchased a few items during his loitering; some of which he would nibble on throughout the conversation, and others he would take back to the winery for the staff.
Your father remained mostly stagnant in his health, which was better than getting worse, of course, but far from what you would have wanted. It only made sense his condition wasn’t improving without the proper medicine, but it didn’t make the reality of it any less hurtful to bear witness to.
The door to the quaint shop opened just before closing time, and in stepped Diluc, hands adorned with those same black gloves that fit so snugly around his long fingers, —thick, brilliant hair pulled back and tied just above the nape of his neck. He really had grown up to be incredibly handsome in every sense of the word. Even the way he walked was alluring, head held upright and proud, boots thudding against the floor in a sturdy rhythm.
“Ah, you again,” you joke with him, “guess my baking skills have really turned you into a regular, huh?”
Diluc breaks his typically stoic demeanor to give you a slight smile.
“I suppose so,” he plays along. “That, and we have a long few days ahead of us, as I’m sure you’re well aware.”
Were you ever.
It was hard to sleep last night knowing just what was approaching. You laid in bed, body quivering under the weight of the anxiety, whispering soothing phrases to yourself as if chanting “everything will be fine” to yourself just under your breath would somehow manifest that actuality. All things considered, something was bound to go wrong. What that something was, well, you’d just have to wait and find out, —and that thought made sleep none the easier to come by.
“Yeah,” you acknowledge, a solemn tone lacing through your voice. “I know.”
In the brief silence that follows, there’s a lingering sense of uncertainty that sends ripples of fear through the space between Diluc and yourself. It’s so thick that you’re sure he can feel it too, and you’re left to assume that’s why he continues on so promptly.
“You’ll be fine,” he says, but swiftly corrects himself, “—we’ll be fine. I’ll make sure of it.”
You worry it’s a promise he doesn’t quite have the faculties to keep, but choose not to voice your concerns just yet. If nothing else, starting the journey off on the right foot is likely the best you can do for him, and far be it from you to drag him down into this hellish pit of anxiety with you when it really doesn’t seem to be necessary.
“I trust you,” you say instead, giving him a slight nod.
It’s not just for show, either. Funnily enough, trusting Diluc was the easy part. Maybe it’s the influence of having known him so fondly in the past, —or maybe it’s just the way he carries himself as if he’s never faced an obstacle he couldn’t will himself to overcome. Either way, it was a simple endeavor to entrust your safety to him (perhaps a bit foolishly, and for better or worse.)
He doesn’t say it, but the way his eyes soften ever so slightly upon hearing that sentiment tells you everything you need to know. Diluc may be a bit rough around the edges, but there’s a lover buried deep inside that chest of his, —one that cares and yearns and strives like there’ll never be another tomorrow. That’s how he’s always been, and it’s nice to know that some things really haven’t changed since you were close.
“We’re lucky the zone isn’t far off,” he continues, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. “We’ll have no trouble reaching the area before sundown if we leave soon.”
Lucky feels like a strong word, but you don’t seek to correct him.
“I’m ready when you are,” you confirm, mustering up the best brave-face you can.
The evening air makes for an uncomfortable walk, but you manage to keep up with Diluc’s long, deliberate strides. It doesn’t take long at all before he halts you in your tracks, opening his coat to pull a set of plain black Fatui masks from the inner pocket. When he hands one over to you, your face twists in a mixture of disgust and confusion, prompting him into an explanation.
“It’s a requirement for entry,” he states, “—trust me, I’m not a fan of it either.”
With a soft sigh, you slip the mask on and Diluc does the same. If nothing else, it looks good on him, you suppose; though that’s a pretty sorry excuse for self-comfort.
“It makes me uneasy knowing that something like this is happening so close to the city,” you comment.
This area of Windrise is so close that you can still see the soaring windmills of Mondstadt just off in the distance. Lingering shreds of sunlight still cling to the horizon, but the ever-darkening atmosphere feels much too fitting for the mood.
“I wish I could say it doesn’t worry me,” he answers despondently, “but I admit, there are nights it keeps me awake.”
You figure that’s part of the reason he hasn’t sought the help of anyone outside of his spy network. That, and he has a notoriously poor relationship with the Knights of Favonius these days, —not that you have any of the specifics on that (nor will you be asking anytime soon.)
“In any case, how exactly do we. . . Enter?” You ask, pushing the other worries to the back of your mind for the time being.
“Well, obviously I've never done it before," he begins, "but as far as I know, there should be a guide arriving soon enough. We just have to wait for them to show up."
"A guide?" You question. "What, is this interdimensional pocket of mimicked Teyvat supposed to be some kind of tourist attraction?"
Diluc let's out a soft snicker, a smile creeping onto his face just below the edge of his mask. If nothing else, it's nice to banter with him like this again. . . It feels natural in a way you hadn't expected, especially after so long.
"It shouldn't be too much longer now. The sun'll be completely set any minute, and once it's gone down, the zone entrance will open up for a bit. Tonight's the last night to gain entrance to this one, from what I hear," he says.
"How long has this one been open for?" You inquire.
"I got wind of it six days ago, but I'm sure you can tack a few days, give or take, onto that. Most zones stay up for about two weeks their time, —not even a full day in Teyvat's typical timeline. I'm sure there's a range, but we'll know more once we've entered ourselves, so it's best not to make assumptions without proof," Diluc replies.
"How many people do you think will be there?"
"I couldn't say for certain," he shakes his head. "Henley said there was upwards of a hundred in the zone he entered, but I'm sure the number varies for a variety of reasons. At the very least though, it's safe to assume we'll see ten matches across the next two days, —mine included. That's at least two people, fighter and representative, plus who knows how many spectators willing to place bets. . ."
Diluc lets his words trail off, the low whisper of his tone going utterly silent. Through the slits of his mask, you can see his scarlet eyes follow something, —and you swallow the lump that instantly forms in your throat.
"Guide," he mouths to you, and it's then that you realize just how painfully unprepared you'd been this entire time.
It's far too late to turn back, but a part of you wants to run for the hills.
"Hello there," a surprisingly chipper, feminine voice says to the two of you.
Diluc moves to stand at your side, tugging you along by the wrist to turn your attention to a woman with wavy, shoulder-length brown hair, a Fatui mask in a different style than your own covering the top half of her small face. She's dressed in purple with a pair of nice, black dress shoes, and she all but skips along the grass to make your acquaintance.
"Dawn Winery's fighter and representative, I presume?" She inquires, a sickeningly sweet smile stretching across her rather delicate features.
If you'd have met her under any other circumstances, and she'd been void of that mask, you likely would have thought of her positively as a simple optimistic spirit. Here, however, her joyous demeanor unnerves you more than anything else.
"Correct," Diluc answers with an affirmative nod, "I hope we haven't kept anyone waiting too long."
"No, not at all!" She waves her hand dismissively, "—the true show doesn't begin for another few hours. The rest has been the usual mingling of the guests, enjoying the refreshments, things of that nature. Given that it's your first time, I'm sure the both of you will have some exploring of your own to do as well, and I wish you all the fun in doing so!"
You find it increasingly creepy how she speaks as if she's selling you some kind of retreat or an island getaway at a resort in another nation rather than slitting reality open just to send the two of you off to watch people punch each other. Nevertheless, you bow your head in thanks, forcing a smile onto your face that pales in comparison to her own.
"Thank you," Diluc vocalizes for the both of you.
She seems pleased enough with what little chit-chat has gone on thus far, clasping her hands together in front of her chest like an excitable child.
"Well then, I won't hold you up any longer!" She says cheerfully.
It's then that she pulls a pair of daggers from either pocket of her dress, gripping them so tightly that her knuckles lighten in the process. You take a cautious step away out of instinct, heart thundering against your ribcage. If not for the faint, blueish-purple glow of the blades, you might not have been able to spot them so quickly, and the thought of it is anxiety-inducing to say the very least.
"It's okay," Diluc whispers, —and if she happened to catch wind of it, she chose not to react.
The so-called guide raised one hand above her head, but kept the other at waist-position, and with a grunt that seemed to be more for show than anything else, plunged both daggers into something previously unseen. The blades were buried up to the neck, their glow completely stunted, —first by nothingness, and then by some black, oozing substance that you wouldn't have been able to identify even if you'd tried. Face scrunching up in visceral disgust, you fight the urge to take another step back, though the desire to put distance between yourself and whatever that is remains.
"Sorry," she apologizes, but giggles as she does so like a little girl, "—I always forget to warn people that this part can get a little messy."
A little seems like a grave understatement to you, especially when the pitch black goo begins to seep from the open slits like puss. It churns your stomach just looking at it, and that feeling doubles tenfold the moment she yanks the daggers further along, creating a larger gash that intersects somewhere in the middle.
"What is that stuff?" You question, fingers nervous curling around the end of Diluc's coat sleeve.
"Not sure," he mumbles under his breath, "some kind of secretion, it seems like, but. . . I really haven't a clue what it's made of."
The woman then proceeds to pull the oozing flaps apart, her daggers falling haphazardly to the grass at her feet. Despite having been buried in the thick of the goo, they're as clean as they were the moment she jabbed them in, but their glow has disappeared and they register as nothing more than typical weapons now. There's little to no struggle at all as she peels the two sides away until a hole more than large enough to climb through has been left in her wake.
"Don't be nervous," she says, motioning for the both of you to come forward, "just step through! And don't be scared if you experience a little dizziness or nausea at first, it's just your body acclimating to the new surroundings."
Standing outside this weird, gaping hole has already made you dizzy and nauseated all on its own. You really didn't need any artificial help on that front.
"Thank you," Diluc says again.
Before you have the time to utter a single noise, he's walking forward and plunging a fearless leg through the misty entrance of the abyssal zone. He looks back only for you, as if sensing your anxiety before you could put it into words.
"Don't be nervous," the woman repeats herself, "—you're sure to have a good time."
You really don't want to go through with this, but somehow, staying in your everyday reality with her would appear to be a fate much worse. That, and after all the trouble Diluc and his team had gone through to set all of this into motion, you knew the guilt would eat at you much worse than any nausea ever could if you denied him this now when he’d already come this close. Thus, you hold your breath as you step through the blackened slit of the material world as you know it, preemptively reaching out for something to grasp hold of. For a moment, it feels like you’re falling, —like your body has slipped into a state of weightlessness and gravity has relinquished its hold over you.
A soft yelp escapes your lips and you find yourself feeling breathless, even as you meet with solid ground. It’s not so much dizziness or nausea that takes hold of you now, but more of an eerie unease; like your body is in fight or flight mode and you don’t know how to flip that switch off again. A chorus of unfamiliar voices fill the air, speaking words that you don’t quite catch over the reverberation of your thundering heartbeat.
“Y/n?” Diluc says, his softly-spoken call laying waste to the rest of the noise, “—are you okay?”
You look up at him with fear in your eyes, —fear that he wishes he could soothe away somehow.
“. . . Yeah,” you answer after a moment or two, “I’m okay.”
You really are. Mostly, anyway. All things considered, that could have been exponentially worse, and as far as you can tell, the throes of it have ceased for the time being. The two of you are standing in the exact spot of vacant Windrise through which you’d entered, but darkness has yet to overtake this version. The sun still hangs up in the sky, and the isolation of the area as you knew it just prior has been overridden by a barrage of faces that you don’t recognize at all. You can tell by the various styles of dress that many of those standing around are not from Mondstadt, and it makes you wonder just how far some of them must have traveled to be in attendance today. . . Makes you wonder how they managed to get here without raising suspicion somehow, just considering the sheer numbers they've peaked at.
“There's. . . A lot of people here,” you mutter.
Diluc nods, then motions for you to follow along with him. He all but exudes the kind of calmness you wish you could have under these circumstances as he saunters into the crowd, taking quick glances at those around him. You catch bits and pieces of various conversations in passing along the way.
“Last I heard, they were struggling to pay back the hefty sum they lost in the last fight. . .”
“The drinks they’re serving this go around are much better. . .”
“It’s a shame! He was a good fighter, but poor management of finances can kill even the loftiest of businessmen these days. . .”
You’re quick to tune out. When it comes to discussions of the rich and powerful, you’re hardly one with a stake in the waters. Diluc, on the other hand, you know to be quite affluent, and you’re sure he could hold his own much better in such conversations if the need presented itself.
You make a mental note to ask him about that later. Considering how much these people seem to enjoy chatting amongst themselves, you’re sure a time will come when you’ll have to be part of the conversation, and it would likely be best for you to know the basics of it all if nothing else. Like it or not, you have an image to keep up in this place as the face and subsequent mouthpiece of Dawn Winery. Having to talk the talk and walk the walk simply comes with the territory, and you've gotten yourself wrapped up in all of this quite tightly, so it's only fair that you make appropriate efforts.
“Where are we going?” You question.
Knowing Diluc, he has to have some sort of plan. He’s not the type to rush into anything without some form of meticulous planning. Not much has changed about him in that regard, and that makes you happy, though you couldn’t exactly say why.
“To scope the area,” he replies. “Look just up ahead and tell me what you see.”
Right to work it is then, you suppose. . .
Focusing your gaze ahead, you scan the general area with an inquisitive scrutiny. There’s green grass, a few of Mondstadt’s representative dandelion’s bent in the breeze, —nothing you’d consider to be out of the ordinary. You keep pace with Diluc in spite of his longer legs, searching for anything to hone in on.
“I don’t get it,” you admit. “Is there something in particular I’m supposed to be looking for?”
“Nothing like that,” he answers, “—but you’re being too near-sighted. Take a look at the bigger picture and try again.”
Sometimes, Diluc talks in circles. It’s not for the pleasure of annoying you or making you feel less intelligent, even if it can admittedly have those effects every now and again. He does it in order to encourage your critical thinking and spur you to consider all possibilities whenever the option presents itself. Now, you acknowledge, must be one of those times.
Staring straight ahead now, you squint your eyes off into the distance. . . And that’s when it hits you. The closer you get to the oncoming trees and bushes, the less they seem to be fully there. From back where you’d entered, the general blur of the horizon line wasn’t as visible, and Archons knows how Diluc was able to pick up on it so quickly from so far away. It’s blurry now as you come closer to the edge, like the background of a painting that’s been smudged over time.
Diluc takes your silence as understanding and stops just short of the haze.
“If you watch closely, you can see it ebb and flow like water,” he says.
Indeed, he’s right again, and just the sight of it leaves you feeling a bit seasick.
“What does it mean?” You inquire.
“That these zones likely aren’t as stable as anyone here would like to think,” Diluc replies. “Don’t forget, this place is connected to a realm we know little to nothing about. They’re created by harnessing power even the elemental Archons might not have been able to fully decipher.”
Add that to the list of reasons for you to get out of here as soon as possible.
“That being said, we should go back with the others. It’s best not to draw attention to ourselves, and being outliers like this is sure to do just that if we’re not careful about it.”
“I think it’d also be best to stay away from these spots,” you tell him. “I know it might sound silly, but just being so close to the edge has given me chills. I feel like standing here is inviting something dangerous to happen, and I’m sure we’d both rather avoid that at all costs.”
He hums in acknowledgement.
“Agreed.”
You're thankful that he's bothered to take your feelings on the matter into consideration. That's a rather low bar, of course, but it happens to mean a lot coming from someone as capable as Diluc. He's experienced in this area to some degree, —possesses knowledge that you likely won't ever be privy to. . . But he's listening. As if he trusts your intuition on this, even when all he has to go on is your word.
"Do you know how long we'll be here?" You inquire. "A rough estimate, at least?"
"Hard to say now," he replies, sounding somewhat apologetic about it, even when it's clear that you're not upset by his lack of an answer.
The vagueness is something you expected, though you get the feeling that part of it is purposeful on his part. Even if he's allowed you to come this far, perhaps he's still uncertain as to just how much he can trust you. It's understandable, to a degree, but. . . You can't say it doesn't wound you a bit, even if you get it.
"In any case, we have time to burn," Diluc says. "Are you hungry? Thirsty?"
"I don't think I could stomach anything," you reply honestly.
It's not so much the nausea you were warned about, or even a general sense of sickness. The anxiety of this situation is the real killer here, and it's clawing away at you with maximum fortitude. Try as you might to keep it under wraps, you're sure most of it has been obvious to Diluc from the start, —and you'd be right about that. He's picked up on your unease and has taken the liberty of squashing as much of it as he can to the best of his ability. You're a simple individual in many respects, so taking you away from the crowded areas and giving you a better feel for the situation was strategic on his part. The fact that it aided in his understanding of the abyssal zone was simply a net positive; —the sweet syrup drizzled atop a stack of fluffy pancakes.
"Fair enough," the redhead says, offering you the glimpse of a smile.
He pauses, as if thinking on what to say next, then utters: "Let's grab two glasses for the sake of appearances. We'll find somewhere to stand and observe."
You're quick to agree. From the long, stretching table sat off to the side, Diluc parts with you for just a few moments to snag two glasses of deep-red wine. As he hands you yours, he takes a small sip from his own, then makes a subtle face.
"Not good?" You inquire as a giggle bubbles up from your chest.
He considers this a win. If you're amused, it means he's at least partially succeeding in making you feel safe at his side.
"Not good," he confirms with a shake of his head.
You take his word for it and leave yours untouched.
"Stand beside me," Diluc prompts, though it sounds more like an offer than a command.
His voice is soft when directed at you, like he's trying to temper your nerves in any way he can.
"That man over there," he begins, "the one in complete Fatui garb. Do you recognize him?"
Surprisingly enough, there aren't many actual agents of the Fatui here. You'd spotted a few thus far, but considering just how many longer around Mondstadt City and the surrounding areas, you were almost expecting a full house of them. Instead, you've found that their presence here is minal, as if donning the masks has made everyone in attendance an affiliate. The thought of it is a bit disturbing.
This agent, however, is pleasantly familiar. It's actually quite the relief to see him here.
"That's Henley, isn't it?" You inquire, keeping your voice low and facial expressions to a minimum in order to avoid suspicion.
Even with this mask on the upper half of your face, you find yourself being rather cautious of what you allow yourself to show so visibly.
"Correct you are," Diluc replies, taking another unhappy sip of his wine. "And the young woman just over there, with the long, black hair? Her name is Eloise. She's also a member of my network, —albeit much newer than Henley. I say this to assure you that no matter what, there are people looking out for you here."
As if sensing that she's been introduced, Eloise looks over her shoulder, catching Diluc's gaze before letting it flicker over to you. She gives you a quick, warm smile, then returns her attention back to the two young men she'd been chatting with. Even from afar, you can tell that she knows how to control a conversation. It seems the two men before her are practically eating out of her palm, and you find that quite impressive.
"I do trust you, Diluc," you say to him. "If I didn't, I wouldn't have had the nerve to come."
He already understands as much.
"And I trust you," he confirms. "Not just to make the calls during fights, —not just to be Dawn Winery's executive official. . . But with all the information I know about these places, and all that I can tell you about the work I've done from the shadows."
You suspect there's a lot of truth to that, but have to question the extent of it. There's quite a bit you've been left in the dark on, and perhaps that information will come with time, but for right now, you're hard pressed to believe that Diluc has told you everything you should know. Still, you give him a small smile in spite of that.
That smile fades, however, when everyone's chatter goes silent. An air of unease overtakes the entire space, as if sucking the oxygen from everyone's lungs, rendering them utterly speechless. Diluc seems much less afraid than you, but you can tell that his guard is up quite high.
It only takes a moment longer for you to understand what all the proverbial fuss is about. From a swirling, blue-purple, portal-like entryway completely opposite the oozing slit you and Diluc had stumbled in from; a trio of well-dressed individuals emerge. The first of the bunch is a raven haired man with rounded glasses and a deceptive smile. You feel chills creep up your spine from having just seen him, even from afar. The next is a much shorter, stouter, aged man who also dons glasses on his face; but these are pure circles perched along his lengthy nose. Below sits a curled mustache that covers his top lip entirely, and on his head he wears a tall hat adorned with many enrichments.
Lastly, a stoic-faced woman with silvery-white hair that bears a section of much darker strands toward the front moves to the head of the small group, her sharp gaze flickering about her surroundings. Even this miniscule gesture leaves your nerves prickling. She commands so much respect from simply existing in this space that it’s almost unreal. The tension that surrounds everyone can be cut with a knife, and you hold your breath without meaning to.
“W-Who are they?” You stutter.
The wine glass in your hand bears the remnants of your fear, the crystalline glass fogging up as a result of your clammy palm.
These three aren’t wearing masks, their faces in full view. . . Henley steps forward from out of the crowd, and you resist the urge to call out to him to beg him just to fall back in line and play along. You don’t know who these people are, but one thing is for certain: you don’t want to get on their bad sides. The brunet man unsheathes the sword he wears on his hip, stabbing it directly into the dirt between his feet. He falls to a single knee, head bowed in what you can only assume is an expression of respect. The crowd follows in suit, kneeling before the three of them. Diluc pulls you down with him, and you barely manage to keep your wine from spilling all over the grass.
His tone is hushed and urgent, head turning to meet your eyes for no longer than the time it takes to utter a single word in reply.
“Harbingers.”

A few of you might know that I'm working on my first Angst Anthology. It's a collection of angst stories and shorts with Genshin Impact Characters.
Here's an update: It's nowhere near done (Check the page and word count in the image). hahaha! but I'm okay with that. I'm just trying to enjoy the process. For those of you who are still interested and curious though, I'll explain a bit of each story without trying to spoil it. (Blurred image is the book cover, btw)
Death and Regrets (Extended)
This is quite simply what it is. The Death and Regrets series. Some are re-written. More characters are added. Alhaitham has been written, and I am in the middle of writing Ayato's. All the old Death and Regrets are also included.
2. Smile for Me (Extended) and Dear Diary (Extended)
I quite simply re-wrote some parts, added a few (maybe a lot) of things.
3. No Boundaries (Alhaitham)
A series. Without trying to spoil the story, this fic is mostly about Alhaitham unwilling to accept and turning a blind eye towards the simplest, and most obvious forms of love. How much can you push someone away? Perhaps till they finally give up on you.
4. Conviction (Diluc)
This explores a lot of the Jean-Diluc-Kaeya childhood and relationship, with the reader inserted. Reader always feels like they're mostly in the background, and makes decisions for themselves (and inevitably, for others) based on that.
5. To Past Promises (Wriothesley)
Reader is part of Wriothesley's past in the orphanage. Your life was drastically changed by Wriothesley's actions. Years later when the two of you meet again there's a lot of emotions and regrets to unpack. This one is a bit more difficult to explain without spoiling, so you'll just have to find out later I guess. haha.
Thank you for reading up until this point!
Do look forward to it :)

MORE INFORMATION UNDER CUT
Fanfiction - I am able to write Fluff, Angst, OCs, Self-Inserts, Reader-Inserts. When you reach out please describe what you are looking for. After I confirm your request, please pay for the commission fee through ko-fi. When I receive the funds, I will begin on your commission. Once I'm done with a draft, I'll send it to you for any edits you'd like me to make. If I go over the word count, you will not be charged the extra!
Example: If you wanted me to write an 1500 NSFW piece of Diluc x Afab! Maid!Reader, you will need to pay $20
Rules: Only those 18+ may purchase. I will not write characters not aligned with who I write for on my blog, any adult x minor reader, and noncon. I am okay writing amab and some dark content, but a conversation for specifics will be needed. I have the right to refuse your commission.
Tumblr media
Selfship Analysis - If you'd like this, I will interview you on your interests, likes, dislikes and personality to get a good grasp on your character. In addition, I will ask you which characters you are most and least attracted to in Genshin. After the interview, you will need to pay the commission fee and I will begin on the anaylsis.
Once this is done, I will begin my analysis to create the report which will include: why you two are compatible, some potentials highs and negatives in the relationships, how you two would have met, a few head canons I have on the relationship and a short drabble of the relationship.
Rules: Only those 18+ may purchase. If you add the NSFW add on, I will inquire about your kinks in order to include a section in the analysis for your sex life with the character I've chosen to ship you with. I will only ship you with characters confirmed to be adults and those that align with your sexual preferences.
Tumblr media
Selfship Tarot - I will do a reading on your selfship to determine if you two are compatible or not. This reading will be more detailed than the other readings I have done for free on here and describe why strengths or negatives are happening and the future of the relationship will look like. I
There is no NSFW add on for this.
Rules: Only those 18+ may purchase. I will only do a compatibility with characters confirmed to be adults

-> diluc x gn!reader
-> exes to lovers, slight angst but happy ending
-> wc: 2995
-> note: deals with some of diluc's backstory (i may have gotten some aspects of it wrong but that's in order to insert the reader into it and have it make sense). also reader has a vision/weapon but i don't specify what element/type they are
Tumblr media
rain pours from the sky, muddying your boots as you walk along the dirt path. it was likely that the thunder and lightning would start soon, making you hurry your steps. you were on a journey from the city of mondstadt to liyue harbor. the trip would overall take four days (and another four back)– though the current weather would delay your travel by some time. unfortunately, this stretch of road had almost no places to take up shelter in. having just come from springvale, it'd take some time until you reached any other people. especially consider the next inhabited place you'd get to would be dawn winery. if there wasn't any lightning by the time you made it there, you reasoned with yourself, you'd keep going right past it. of course, the weather was not in your favor.
lightning began to strike, making you jump at the volume. huffing, you pull your cart of belongings behind you, trying to trudge faster through the soggy ground. the wheels bump through stray rocks, exerting much of your energy to keep it on track. you emerge through the heavy covering of trees to come face to face with the dawn winery. warm lights flood from the window panes, looking welcoming. still, it brought a tinge of nausea to your stomach. would it be worth it to knock on the door and see if they had a spare room? you figured the chances of diluc being there were low, and trying to hunker down and make your own shelter would likely result in some sort of injury to yourself. plus, adelinde was always extremely kind, so surely she'd allow you to stay at least until the rain passed. sighing, you clumsily heave the cart up the stone steps to the front door. knocking, you immediately hear steps making their way over, opening the door.
you fumble around with the items in your cart to avoid looking at her, embarrassed at your current predicament. "miss adelinde, i apologize for the sudden intrusion. is it possible i could come inside until the rain passes?" a long pause of silence follows your question. growing slightly irritated, you look up. "sorry, if i can't stay-"
oh.
"diluc." you mutter, feeling as if your luck's growing worse by the minute.
"(name)," he says, eyes boring into yours. "it's been quite some time. i'll call for adelinde to bring you in. leave your cart outside, it'll be taken care of."
"actually, i think i'll be on my way," you mumble, waving him off. "sorry to have bothered you."
"don't be foolish," his voice is stern, quickly taking hold of your wrist as you turn away. "there's no shelter for miles. it's not safe for you to be out."
"fine. only until the weather eases, then i'll be out of your way." you sigh, letting go of the cart's handle and allowing yourself to be gently tugged indoors. finally shielded from the rain, you notice how drenched your clothes are. a sudden chill runs up your spine, hugging your arms close to yourself.
"i'll have adelinde fetch you some clothes." those are the last words you hear from diluc as he shuts the door behind you and disappears further into the winery.
you let your eyes wander through the scenery, taking in the warm candlelight. the rug below you starting to soak up the drops of water that cascade off of you. part of you feels guilty, wondering if it'd damage the fabric in any significant way. almost every item in this place cost more mora than you'd see in your lifetime. multiple lifetimes, really.
as if she read your mind, adelinde is quick to speak up when she sees you. "don't worry about getting anything wet," she says, handing you a fluffy towel. "i assure you we can pay for any necessary repairs. just pat yourself down, then i'll escort you to the bath where you can wash and change."
"and where will i be staying?" you inquire, hands working to dry off any excess rain.
adelinde takes the towel from you, dabbing off a few places you couldn't reach.
"well…" she mumbles, eyes downcast as she fiddles with the towel in her hands. "since this is such short notice, we are unable to have a spare room prepared for you. we currently have some family of staff staying as guests, so…"
"so i can't stay?" you ask, worried about where you'll go for the night.
"you'll have to spend the night in master diluc's room, i'm afraid." her voice is nervous, treading lightly as if on eggshells.
you sigh, shaking your head with a clenched jaw. "i won't like it, but as it's only for one night i'll just have to make do. i appreciate that you've done what can be done, at least." despite your feelings towards diluc, there was no reason for you to harbor any ill will towards adelinde.
"i see. come, your bath should be drawn by now. i've arranged it so that spare clothes will be ready for you there as well." she takes you by the elbow, guiding you throughout the manor. you watch the walls pass by, noting how little had changed since you were last here. it left a somber ache in your chest, choosing instead to keep your eyes towards your feet. adelinde quickly ushers you into a fanciful bathroom, bubbly water steaming in a pristine tub.
"you can leave your clothes in here once you're finished, i'll collect them and make sure they're clean for you in the morning," she points towards a basket in the corner of the room. "conveniently, we found some of your old sleep clothes here from… well, anyway, i'll be outside. just knock when you've finished washing and dressing. i'll bring you to diluc's room."
"i know how to get there, you can go if you have other duties. i don't mind taking myself there." you say, knowing the way to his room was practically etched into your memory.
"of course. take care, (name)." she bows, curtsying her uniform and stepping out of the bathroom.
you start to peel the wet clothes off, fabric clinging to your cold skin. clumping them together into the basket, you finally submerge yourself into the warm bath water. the gentle scent of lavender wafts throughout the room, calming your anxiety ridden thoughts. diluc was right. it had been quite some time since you'd last seen each other, much less last time you actually spoke to each other. your life now consisted of frequently avoiding his tavern and the winery as a whole, so any chances of stumbling upon each other were slim. no matter how much the citizens of mondstadt would try to drag you to a tavern, you always insisted against it. truthfully, it had become a bit exhausting. this whole time trying to convince yourself you didn't care about what happened between you two… would you be acting this way if you really didn't care?
shaking yourself out of your thoughts again, you focus on scrubbing the rainwater off of you. combing your nails through your scalp, you sigh at the cleansing feeling of the shampoo. rinsing any suds off yourself, you hurry to dry and redress yourself. maybe ridiculous, but you felt if you went through the motions faster that the night would end and you could be on your way. clothed, you find yourself almost trembling as you open the door, thrust back into the reality of where you were.
the hallway rug is soft beneath your bare feet, comforting you as you close the bathroom door. your body is on autopilot as you head to diluc's room, hand coming up to gently knock at his door. his room is secluded, far off in the back of the manor. that fact used to bring you a sense of relief– the sense that it was just you and him. now, the thought made you a bit anxious. no, you weren't scared of diluc himself, rather, the confrontation that was sure to occur. you shift your weight between your feet, patiently waiting for diluc to either tell you to come in or open the door himself.
moments later, the door opens to reveal diluc. he's shed himself of his normal attire, adorned in his sleepwear. he clears his throat, eyes trailing over your frame as he inspects your own clothing. it was a matching pair that kaeya had gifted to you to give to diluc, as a joke. he had given it to you with a smile, mentioning something about you two being lovebirds. the memory stung a bit now, having been replaced with kaeya's sympathetic gazes towards you. diluc shuffles around, holding the door open and gesturing you inside. much like the other rooms of the manor, not much had changed. he watched as your eyes roamed the room, landing on a few picture frames upon his nightstand. one of crepus, and one of the two of you together. you turn to him, mouth opening to question him about it. the question dies in your throat, mouth closing as your thoughts run wild.
"(name)..." his whisper is raspy, reaching out. when his fingers brush across your arm, he almost winces at the touch. shocked that you're really there. pulling back, he breaks eye contact. "i won't force you, but we really should talk."
"i'm not sure there’s much left to say." you blatantly lie, fully aware that he can tell.
"even if that were true for you, it certainly isn't for me," he says, hand falling to the small of your back as he gestures for you to sit at the edge of his bed. across the room, he moves to sit on a sofa, facing you. "i've had lots of time to think about what happened."
you scoff at his words, crossing your arms. "so have i. four years of thinking, actually."
he nods, yet doesn't say anything. you assume he expects you to continue, so you do.
"you didn’t tell me you were leaving. not even a letter goodbye," your voice is immediately wobbly upon recalling the events. "you didn't write to me a single time. all i had to get by were vague hints that you were alive from kaeya. it seems that you wrote to everyone except me. it's not that i don't understand why you left, i do. and i don't have any resentment for you leaving. i know i would've done the same. but… i would've supported you, diluc. so why didn't you let me? why'd you have to push me away?” your voice gets hoarse, throat rough with emotion. your fists curl into the fabric of your sleepwear, shutting your eyes tight to ignore the urge to cry.
you hear him sigh, the creak of the sofa alerting that he's stood up. he makes his way over to you, sitting down. your legs touch, a faint hint of heat in your cheeks. it had been so long, yet still he made you feel shy somehow. his hand comes to rub at your back, the warmth of his skin seeping through the thin fabric of the button up. he always ran hot, something that brought you a lot of comfort. after spending the night in the rain, you could feel yourself leaning into the feeling.
"it wasn't that i didn't want you, nothing like that," he says, gaze fixed on you. "i was dealing with dangerous people. even i barely escaped death a few times. if i had written to you, or you to me, and one of my letters were to get intercepted? if they learned who you were to me? i wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something happened to you due to my actions. i couldn't let you get hurt. why i left was entirely related to what happened before. i… care for you a great deal. please understand." diluc wasn't one to lie about something like this. he was raised to be an honest, good man, and he never strayed from that. even with your history, you could tell his words were sincere.
"diluc… as i've already said, i do understand why you left," you say, looking up at him. "i have my own vision, and i'm more than capable of handling my weapon. do you really think that i couldn't handle myself if someone were to go after me? kaeya told me some of what you dealt with. traveling teyvat, going into snezhnaya, fighting fatui. i've had my fair share of run-ins with their agents. i'm still here.”
"i don't think you're weak at all," he's quick to say, understanding your insecurities with your strength. "i, perhaps foolishly, thought that these actions would leave you the most unscathed. i was dealing with one of the highest echelons of the fatui, i didn't want… i didn't want them to use you against me, or mondstadt, even. after the things that happened with my father, i became even more protective of the places and the people that i… love." you can see the way he gulps, looking away once he finishes his sentence.
you blink, trying to process his words. of course, before his departure, you had been together. you two were much younger back then, not having the courage to speak those words– 'i love you' was not necessarily a need when it showed endlessly in your care towards each other.
"do… you still feel that way?" you ask, voice timid.
"protective? or the other thing?" he nudges his shoulder against you, a teasing lilt to his voice.
"diluc," you groan, exasperated. "you know what i meant."
he laughs, a deep chuckle from his chest. the hand on your back trails upwards, cupping your cheek in his palm. his thumb caresses the skin there. "to answer your question, yes. i do still feel that way." his voice is breathy, barely reaching your ears.
swallowing thickly, you fiddle with your hands in your lap. "i think… i do too. even when you left, i was upset, but… i was worried most of all," you sniffle, a tear dropping down to diluc's thumb. you can feel him tremble, frowning at the sight. "i thought i'd never see you again. i know you're strong, and so, so capable, but… it felt like every day i had to grapple with the fact you might be dead. so when you came back, i wasn't ready to process that you were alive."
"i'm sorry." diluc says, heavy with regret.
"don't apologize," you shake your head, hand coming up to wrap around his wrist that's holding your cheek. turning your head, you let your lips press against his palm. "i understand now why you did what you did. i'm sorry it took so long for us to talk about it."
a blush settles on his face, the red practically glowing in the lamplight of his room. despite his flustered state, he doesn't look away or move his hand. "what happens now?"
"well, tomorrow i have to set off for my journey to liyue once more. when i return, perhaps we could spend some time together?" you tell him, trying to not be too forward or rush headfirst into anything.
"i think that's an excellent idea," he finally removes his hand from your face, standing up from the bed. "i'll put out the lanterns, i believe it's time for us to rest. you have a long expedition ahead of you."
"i know," you exaggerate a sigh, flopping back against the bed. "almost a whole week and a half without me, whatever shall you do?"
he laughs, shaking his head. "yes, it will be terribly long without you." he falls forward, laying next to you, gently slinging an arm over your waist.
blushing at the close contact, you put a hand on his chest to keep some space between you two. "you've gone longer without me, haven't you?"
"yes," diluc sighs, a hint of sorrow behind it. "but now that i know you're here once more? now that we know of each other's true feelings… it seems even more difficult to not be beside you."
"i'm sure you'll manage," you mumble, arms wrapping around his neck to ruffle into his hair. "though i wouldn't mind company during my travels, at least until i'm out of mondstadt."
his eyes widen briefly, a subtle smile making its way onto his face. "i'm sure that could be arranged. that's not too long that it'll disrupt any of my personal duties." he leans forward, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"seems like you're feeling affectionate." you say, secretly thrilled to be so close to him again.
"forgive me," he mumbles, sheepish. "i've had many dreams like this. of you coming back to me. i suppose i'm eager to see you… and to feel you near me."
"dreams?" you ask, curious.
"don't tease, but yes," using his strength he pulls you even closer to him, relishing in the warmth. "like i said, i care for you deeply. i've always wanted to be with you. it seems even my dreams were aware of that fact."
"i hope that having me back is better than your dreams, then," you turn to your side to face him, bringing your arm around him to place a hand between his shoulder blades. "i have longed to feel you near me as well, diluc."
he hums, chest rumbling against you. "tomorrow, when we wake, if you'll let me… i'd like to kiss you. for now, i'd like to keep you warm throughout the night." he noses at the juncture of your neck, tickling the skin there with his breath.
you nod, already feeling the drowsiness settle into your bones as you lay together. "it's been a while since i've slept this warmly. i'm happy to have you here, diluc." you tell him, your whisper fading into the night.

Direct Continuation of: Slip of His Mask [Kaeya Alberich & Diluc Ragnvindr]
Tumblr media
When his father returned home with another child, Diluc was curious. He tried his hardest to get him to open up, but he was as tough to crack as a Geo Slime. He was told that the child’s stay wouldn’t be long. A week at most.
Within that week, Diluc was restless, and he was sure the child was as well. So, he tip-toed through the hall to the child’s room, nearly avoiding a stray maid. Once at the door, he placed an ear against the door. Nothing— maybe he was asleep. Well, he wouldn’t know if he didn’t check so…
Slowly turning the knob, Diluc slowly peered into the room, then opened the door wide at the clear lack of something.
Diluc stepped into the room, frantically looking side to side. “Where did you go?”
“Why are you in here?” A quiet question from somewhere within.
“Huh? I—Where are you?”
Shuffling from somewhere—ah!
Diluc gasped. “Why were you under the bed?”
The child rubbed his eyes—eye. He only had one visible eye that was looking away from him, the other one was hidden behind a white eye patch. “...don’t worry about it.”
“But isn’t the floor cold and dusty?”
“It’s fine.”
Diluc stooped down, pressing a palm against the hardwood floor.
He was right. “It is cold!” He looked at his hand, then dusted it off. “And dusty.”
“I said it was fine—” The child sighed, a bit annoyed. “Can you please leave?”
“I—” Diluc wanted to say more, but the way that the child was gripping his sleep gown stopped him. “Okay…”
He slowly retreated back out, stalling for as much as he could, but when the child said nothing else when he made it outside in the hall, he did exactly as he asked.
And then a week became two, two became three, and three became a whole month. Oddly enough, things were just like when he arrived a month ago, but also different.
He came back home with his father, yes, but now he had his own clothes (no longer wearing Diluc’s old clothes). A new eye patch, a nice black one (the white was getting a bit dirty, probably from sleeping on the floor). And black folder clutched against his chest.
And suddenly the child was adopted into the family.
This also when Diluc learned of his name,
Kaeya Alberich
For some reason, he didn’t want to take their last name. Diluc wouldn’t admit that he was upset.
“Please reintroduce yourselves.” His father gently nudged Kaeya.
“...I’m Kaeya…” His voice was still quiet, but he actually made eye contact now.
“I’m Diluc.” He paused, “—um can I… give you a hug?”
Kaeya’s gaze immediately dropped to his shoes, and Diluc was sure that he would tell him no—until he gave the smallest of nods.
A wide grin broke across Diluc’s face, and he threw his arms around the child—his brother.
And he couldn’t see it, but was sure Kaeya was smiling too.
However, that night, the truth settled in and unsettled one.
Diluc woke with a start, a single shriek cutting through his slumber. He leapt from the bed, as if it were covered in a layer of Cryo, and made for the door.
He knew who that was despite never hearing him scream.
“Keaya!”
This scene was also familiar but not. Kaeya was on the floor (potentially was under the bed), but now the bed was overturned and things were flung around the room and destroyed. He was in the corner, clutching his head between his hands, muttering something in a language that wasn’t the common tongue.
“Kaeya?” He asked, voice low as he stood in the doorway. “What’s wrong?”
Kaeya’s head snapped over, fast enough that Diluc thought that it would swivel right off.
His face was wet, and his brows were furrowed tight.  “Diluc…? Why are you—?”
“Because we’re brothers.” He smiled.
But for some reason, Kaeya’s lip upturned, and he hid himself away again, sobbing into himself. Diluc fumbled with his fingers, tears already spilling from the ducts.
Had he made things worse? Should he go and get Father? Or—?
But looking at how small Kaeya looked (and he was already small, despite them both being twelve-year-olds), he just couldn’t bring himself to leave, but they also couldn’t stay in this room.
So, he carefully made his way over to his brother and took him by the hand.
“What—?”
“We’re going to my room. It isn’t safe in here.”
“It’s fine. I’ll clean it up.”
“No, I mean—this room isn’t safe from nightmares, so we have to go.”
Kaeya fell quiet, so Diluc continued onward.
His bed definitely wasn’t big enough for the both of them, but he made room. Held him as close as he could, tucking his head underneath his head, and told him everything would be alright.
He was his older brother, after all.
However,
Kaeya never did tell him what was wrong.
Tumblr media
“Sometimes, life can change in an instant…so why didn’t you do more, Diluc?”
These dreams—nightmares were becoming more frequent.
Ever since he became Cavalry Captain at the tender age of fourteen, he had been plagued with them. Dreams of failing important missions, allowing his follow knights to be harmed or killed, but worse of all—
“You said everything would be alright—that you would protect me. You’re a liar, Diluc.”
He kept dreaming of both his brother and father dying.
Because of him.
“You’re a liar, Diluc.
You’re a liar,
Diluc. Diluc, Diluc—
Diluc!”
He woke up with a start. He was drenched with sweat, chest heaving and—
“Diluc?”
Kaeya was sitting on the bed, a hand on his shoulder, starry-blue eye gazing at him in concern.
“Kaeya!” He threw his arms around him, tears falling fast and freely. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you and—”
“It’s okay, Diluc. It was just a nightmare.” Kaeya attempted to reassure him, rubbing small circles against his back.
“It can’t just be a nightmare. It’s been happening too frequently…”
Kaeya was quiet for a moment before gently pulling back, a small smile gracing his features despite the wet look in his eye. “Then we have to go.”
Diluc almost asked him what he meant, but then he remembered.
“Yes, we must.”
And just like he had two years prior, Kaeya led him back to his room, which was now right beside his, and allowed him to take refuge in his nightmare-free room. The only difference now was that they had double beds now.
Kaeya had a sudden growth spurt and was a few inches taller than him (but that was okay! He’d still be the taller, older brother by the end of their growing).
And just like he’d done before, Kaeya tucked his head underneath his chin and told him that everything would be alright.
So, Diluc knew that everything would be alright.
Until it wasn’t.
Tumblr media
Even after his return from his three-year journey, did Diluc not change much of his room.
Just a few things here and there to accommodate his new-found hobbies.
One thing that remained the same, however,
was his double bed.
Tumblr media
Now he found himself on your doorstep, all these years later. Entering the apartment with the spare key you had given him soon after Kaeya had moved in.
“For emergencies.” You had told him.
He took his boots off at the door, knowing how particular you were, and also took off his coat as if compelled to do so.
He had never once set foot in this place, and yet his feet carried him to a room with a closed door, where soft sobs slipped through from underneath the door.
And just as he had all those years ago, Diluc slowly turned the knob, peering into the room. He crossed the threshold of no return, making his way to his brother’s slumped form.
And yet, things were different. He didn’t know if he could just rush in and hold him like he used to, so instead he sat down beside him, hands gripping his knees.
The silence was unbearable and Diluc felt like he was the cause of it, but just as he made up his mind to leave and fetch you
Kaeya reached for his wrist, clutching tight.
And he knew, he couldn’t leave him.
And so he coaxed him to lay down, joining him just as he had all those years ago.
However, this time he didn’t tell him that everything would be alright because he didn’t trust his voice not to quiver.
So instead, he just tucked his head under his chin and held him close.
And maybe he could play pretend big brother again, just for this night.
Tumblr media
You found them, nestled in each other’s embrace and faces wet with tears.
You simply pulled the slipping blanket over the both of them and return to your bedroom.
Closing the door softly behind you, you sighed.
"This was a start."
Tumblr media
I wanted to read a fic about Kaeya sleeping under the bed because he was scared.
It somehow turned into this.
I decided to make it ragbros-centric so that more people can experience it.
You're welcome in advance.
Shout-out to reader's little involvement (you'll be back later don't worry). And maybe someone will be helping Diluc along too (who knows lmao).
I do. I know.

Chapter 14
With heavy lids, my gaze scans the familiar space before me. The blinds are drawn across the massive glass panes, blocking the golden rays of sun that seep through each vertical slat, casting an amber haze over the room. The unusual array of colors tracing various surfaces has become an ordinary sight, though it still manages to captivate my senses as the room dips—left, then right.
These sensations have become commonplace, a normal occurrence that I’ve gradually come to accept and enjoy, though it didn’t take much persuasion in the end. Its weightless grasp is easy enough to welcome compared to the anchor that is reality. However, this lightness makes the tension constricting around my rib cage all the more noticeable.
Tilting my head downward, I notice the damp hair sticking to my face as I observe my bare body nestled between a pair of legs. The tension squeezing my abdomen is caused by the firm hold of two arms. As I look around at the plush bedding surrounding us, the grip tightens with my movements, pressing my body against the person behind me and forcing the air from my lungs.
Beads of water roll down my face, and I use my unsteady eyes to look around. My gaze catches on three syringes, empty of any substance, scattered across the bed beside a wrinkled bath towel. But my focus quickly returns to my lungs, struggling to collect air, and a whine escapes my throat as I try to gain his attention. “Xiao—”
Suddenly, a hand clasps around my mouth, silencing me, followed by a soft hush. The room quickly grows silent again, and the weight on my shoulder steadily lifts as Xiao raises his head, his cheek grazing mine as he releases a depleted breath. “You can’t even begin to imagine how exhausted I am, Y/N… can’t imagine how long I’ve waited—just for everything to go… so wrong…” he says with a shudder, seemingly breaking under the weight of each word.
“It’s as if the universe itself is toying with me, as if this were all some sick joke. If only you knew—if only you could just… remember, you’d share my grief, I know it.” His hand slips from my mouth, clutching either side of my jaw before listlessly resting around my neck. A few droplets splatter against my chest as he inhales a shaky breath. “But I’ve accepted all your new, pestering traits, fixed your lingering affliction, and still… they continue to try and take you away from me. Why?!”
Struggling to grasp my awareness, my head nods forward in a daze, taking the weight of my body with it, when Xiao fixes his arm around my abdomen again, securing me against him. His hold tightens, though he allows me space to breathe as I listen to him continue.
“When I first saw you, I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but the moment I heard your voice—it was as if you had never left my side. All those empty years that dragged on were over within seconds, and the only thing I wanted was to take you into my arms and never let you go, ever again…”
Holding me against him, the moist skin of my back adheres to his exposed chest, but in this state, the discomfort is hardly a thought. It’s simply an acknowledgment that fades into acceptance within seconds.
“Trust me,” he goes on. “I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my days locked in this room with you, indulging in your embrace for the rest of time. But I have too much that I still need to fix, and if I don’t, I’ll lose you… again.”
Suddenly, his hands shift to my waist, and he helps me turn around to face him. One of his hands comes to rest against my cheek, caressing my skin with his thumb. As I gaze into his reddened eyes, tears stream down, and an ache stabs at my chest.
“Soon, there will be a time when I’m no longer here with you. You’ll probably be confused and scared. Maybe even angry beyond belief with me. But I need you to trust me.” He tries to force a smile but fails, his expression overwhelmed by sorrow. “Do you trust me?”
Even before the words leave his mouth, tears are already streaming down my own face now, though I hardly understand my reason for crying.
“I—” I stammer, what he said is already slipping from my mind, but I grasp the few words I can remember and answer, “I’m… scared and confused now…”
Sobbing, I’m suddenly pulled in, his arms encircling me tightly. “Please, don’t be,” he says beside my ear. “I swear, I’ll fix this. I’ll always protect you, even if it costs me my life. It’s the least I can do…”
The room grows quiet, all but my choked sobs, as Xiao’s hold keeps me anchored to him. I bring my arms up, wrapping them around him as he rests a hand on my head, patting at my hair until my cries soften and eventually cease. We sit silently, neither of us breaking away from the other, until Xiao speaks up softly.
“You’re one of the strongest people I’ve ever met, you know that?”
Though his words hardly resonate with me. “I’m… not,” I answer shortly.
“Don’t say that... You’ve been through so much, so many unimaginable things, yet you're still here. You may not realize it, but your soul is resilient. I’ve never seen anything like it,” he says, now gazing at me. “I’ve always admired that about you.”
With my drowsiness slowly lifting, my embrace tightens, and I linger in his gaze, hesitant, before I lean forward, softly pressing my lips to his. He accepts the gesture, reciprocating. However, he gradually pulls away, and yet I find my way back, leaning my weight into him until he takes me back, reclining against the plush bedding and pillows.
A single hand runs down my back, his fingers tracing along my spine, and his touch noticeably weaker than usual. He allows me to part his lips, only slightly, in an attempt to deepen our kiss, but he soon skims away, pressing his lips against my cheek instead. His saddened eyes then meet mine, and he whispers, “You have no idea how much I love you…”
I attempt to give him a soft smile, and say, “Neither do you.”
A silent pause descends, either of us remaining unmoved. Suddenly, his arms coil, and I’m spun down to the mattress, our positions swapping as our lips connect once again. Dragging my arms behind him, I pull against his weight, the excess gap between our bodies closing.
His teeth lazily sink into my lip, the gesture laced with sensuality as I notice his hips delicately pressing into mine. I mirror his actions, displaying my desire as well, when Xiao breaks away momentarily, pulling back to mutter, “Don’t~ Just let me handle everything…”
Within moments, the only article of clothing adorning my body slips down past my ankles, as does his respectively. His bare hips then press into mine with an intentional softness, and the fine amount of friction warms the rising heat within me. Fragile kisses trail down to my jawline, then further, peppering my neck until the sharp point of his teeth sinks into my skin, as does his length, pushing into the warmth. There’s hardly an ounce of discomfort between the two as I begin to melt against him.
Working his way in, inch by inch, my breath hitches when tender, rhythmic strokes take over. A hand slips beneath my back, the other coming to cradle behind my head, nudging me into the curve of his shoulder where I partially bury my face.
I cling to him, the affectionate massages felt within cause my legs to tangle with his, and I savor every languid motion as we’re practically raveled together. Eventually our subdued huffs and pants start to fill the room, and an unmistakable serenity dissolves my nerves. I lose myself in the mild sway, closing my eyes, and allowing Xiao full control as his body easily heightens my high.
Just then, I feel his hands slip down, grasping at either side of my hips, and propping my lower half up slightly, hovering just above the mattress. At such an angle, he slips deeper, burying his length in the slick warmth until there’s hardly any room left, and his thrusts grow heavier with long deliberation.
My cheeks begin to burn as I gasp for breath, heat pooling in unimaginable depths as muscles tighten and contract around him. He then takes initiative, pulling my hips into each of his thrusts, and the added motion elicits the coiling tension to pull taught. Unable to suppress it, the warm fluid gushes, and the fluttering strain floods me briefly before subsiding, leaving my mind with the lingering tranquility. It’s then that Xiao’s weight lifts from my upper body as he sits back on his knees, though remains fixed inside.
He grasps at the underside of my thighs, lifting my legs from the mattress, parts them, then drives his length in once more. From above, his lust-filled gaze fixates on where our bodies connect as he adopts a hurried, erratic rhythm, stuffing his way in and using the extra slick to his advantage. His lips part, searching for air as he chases his own climax, his teeth barely gnawing into his lip.
I simply watch as his hips repeatedly slam into mine, his bare body sticky with sweat that undoes the work of the presumably previous shower. He pulls me into every thrust, until his hips stutter, and his length throbs against my insides, pulsing and spilling himself within. My legs slip from his shaky hands, falling against the soft sheets as Xiao looms above, simply glaring down at me, wearily, as our gazes meet, and he huffs for air.
Carefully, he slips his way out, then collapses by my side. His arm drapes across my midriff, dragging me into his grasp. I watch as his eyes flit shut, then inch myself closer until I’m curled up against his body, burying myself into his embrace.
