Spring was one of your favorite seasons for two reasons.

First, Valberries, your absolute favorite fruit, were finally in season

And two, it was your beloved’s season of birth. 

So, being the ever so wonderful partner that you were, you decided to bake him a cake (with the help of Adelinde to avoid similar mishaps from prior special events).

Surprisingly enough, you hadn’t seen the birthday at all today, but he wouldn’t be the ever elusive wine tycoon if you had. 

Oh well. 

There was a cooled cake that needed to be frosted before you. 

Nothing too exciting, a simple white frosting with a simple scallop border. 

Just as you placed the cake in the fridge, the kitchen door opened. 

As you turned kiss was pressed to your temple and a murmur of:

“I’m home.” 

You guided his lips toward your own, a more loving greeting.

He pulled away, he turned quickly, but you still caught a glimpse of his flushed cheeks. 

You followed him to your bedroom, helping him remove the worries of today for the calm of tonight. 

After a long bath and a bit of cuddles, dinner was read and served by Adelinde. 

Perfection as always,

And then came the dessert. 

Your valberry cake was sliced and served alongside

sparkling valberry juice. 

“It looks like we both had the same idea.” You said after a moment. 

He chuckled. “Valeberries are your favorite after all.”

You huffed with a pout, “But today is your special day.”

“A day in which I can choose how to spend it.” 

“And you chose to gather valberries for me.”

“I chose to prepare something special for my beloved.” He clarified. “The cake is delicious by the way.” 

You sighed dramatically as you stood from your seat. “Well now I have to give you something extra special.” 

You slipped into Diluc’s lap, hands finding purchase in his crimson locks. 

His hands found themselves on your hips, already rubbing small circles with his thumbs. “And what might that be?”

“Mayhaps a kiss or two?” 

You leaned down, lips connecting in a soft yet passionate kiss. 

He tasted heavily of the valberries but still had the familiar hint of small lamp grass. 

He pulled back just enough to ask, “How about four and more?”

Who were you to deny your significant other on their special day? 

You would give him everything he asked for

and more. 

Initial Note: Happy birthday to the man who took a whole ass year to come home! I literally just got Diluc on March 8th, 2022. tbh I kinda forgot about his birthday until I seen it trending on Twitter so-. Here ya go lmao!

I am currently trying to organize my stuff here on tumblr a little bit. This is a list of all the fics I wrote about Kaeluc. It's a lot because I have been obsessed with this ship for years now. 😂

A warm place to call home - One stormy night, Kaeya knocks on the door of his former home with a fluffy bundle in his hand. What starts as a simple incident soon and unexpectedly turns into an opportunity for the relationship between two estranged young men (G-Rating, 4.611 words)

For better, for worse, forever - Almost ten years have passed since Kaeya and Diluc got married, and together they have seen good times and bad. As they reminisce, they decide that after some really tough years, it is high time to make some beautiful new memories (G-Rating, 2.168 words)

He loves me, he loves me not - Young Master Kaeya is a man with many admirers. When he one day receives an anonymous love letter, hope awakens in him that it could be from his Diluc, who he is secretly in love with. His attempts to find out who is behind the letter cause his sworn brother a great deal of awkwardness (G-Rating, 4.901 words)

Husbands - The day of the wedding is finally there and many things go through Kaeya's mind while he waits for his future husband to arrive (G-Rating, 1.212 words)

Moonlight dancing - After the wedding, Kaeya and Diluc welcome their guests to the winery to celebrate with them. There is music and there is dance, and Diluc cannot help but reminisce about some fond memories from the past (G-Rating, 1.583 words)

More than mere child's play - Diluc overhears Kaeya playing a game of Truth or Dare, and perhaps he is a little too interested in the truth his former sworn brother has to tell (G-Rating, 1.575 words)

Sharing a blanket, sharing warmth - At several points in his life, Diluc finds himself forced to share a bed with Kaeya. In retrospect, it is always these nights that become important for the two of them (G-Rating, 2.930 words)

The joys of summer - Newly married, Kaeya and Diluc set off on a journey to Inazuma, where they discover the beauties of a foreign culture together (G-Rating, 2.843 words)

The language of the heart - The guestlist, the decoration, the flowers - Diluc would never have expected the wedding preparations to be this complicated. Luckily, Adelinde is there to help (G-Rating, 1.756 words)

Two glasses - It is no secret that Diluc neither likes the taste nor the effect of alcohol. Still, in the night before Kaeya's birthday, he sits down with a bottle of wine and a lot of thoughts in his head (G-Rating, 1.041 words)

Warm - Kaeya has always loved it when Diluc has held his hand. When they get closer again years after their falling out, such touches are suddenly no longer a matter of course, and Kaeya cannot help but miss them (G-Rating, 1.388 words)

Would you still love me? - When Kaeya returns from his trip to Sumeru, Diluc immediately notices that something is wrong. It takes a lot of patience before his friend finally pours out his heart to him in a special place on a frosty spring night (G-Rating, 2.499 words)

2022:

A Cavalry Captain's struggle - As the Knights Of Favonius' Cavalry Captain, young Diluc has to present his profession to the children of Mondstadt's kindergarten. He asks Kaeya to help him with this task (G-Rating, 1.390 words)

A game of truth - Kaeya challenges Diluc to a game of chess. The loser has to drink a truth potion, the winner gets to ask three questions. However, he has not expected that Diluc, just like him, agrees with certain ulterior motives (G-Rating, 1.755 words)

A lazy lunch break - Kaeya and Diluc are enjoying their lunch break together at Windrise. When Diluc falls asleep, Kaeya uses the chance to look closely at his friend's features and discovers a detail he enjoys more than anything else (G-Rating, 844 words)

Close to you - Kaeya is worried because Diluc is clearly overworked and needs some rest, but is too stubborn to admit it to himself or anyone else. Only after he has fallen ill does he realise that Kaeya was right and accepts his request to take a short vacation together. They set off together for Liyue, where they spend a few pleasant days and grow closer again, both emotionally and physically (E-Rating, 9.561 words)

Comfort Habits - When Diluc gets a report that Kaeya was seen at the Statue Of The Seven, catching crystalflies, he knows immediately what the other needs. But with things being so difficult between them, is he really the one to offer him comfort? (G-Rating, 2.165 words)

Everything I want to see - When they were children, Diluc made a promise to Kaeya, but was not able to keep it back then. For a long time, the promise seems forgotten and unattainable, but many years later they both find out that it just took a little bit longer than expected for the right moment to arrive (G-Rating, 2.605 words)

Fools in love - Kaeya bought a gift for Diluc but does not dare to give it to him. Rosaria is annoyed, but still decides to help to finally get her favourite drinking buddy back (G-Rating, 715 words)

I'll be here - When Kaeya borrows a shirt from Diluc, the sight of the other's body, so clearly changed over the years they have been apart, triggers an inner turmoil in the redheaded man (G-Rating, 903 words)

Lost and found - Mondstadt and the Windblume festival just belong together, but although Kaeya loves his adopted home, he does not only hold good memories of the celebrations (G-Rating, 2.829 words)

Seven Flowers - Young Jean tells Diluc and Kaeya about a flower magic that can show you who you will spend your life with later. When Diluc wants to try it out, Kaeya worries: who does his sworn brother hope to see in this prophecy? (G-Rating, 1.229 words)

Small favours - When Diluc asks Kaeya to put some sun lotion on his back, who is he to refuse the request? (G-Rating, 1.260 words)

Sunburnt - Kaeya is having a good time at the Golden Apple Archipelago. Seeing him like this brings a lot of complicated emotions back to Diluc (G-Rating, 1.332 words)

The brothers - Young Diluc and Kaeya are confused when the other Knights Of Favonius suddenly seem to look down on them and no longer even want to talk to them. Jean helps the two to clear up the underlying misunderstanding (G-Rating, 1.105 words)

The empty room - Little Kaeya is feeling very lost and lonely after his arrival at the Ragnvindr estate. When Diluc finds out, he does his best to console his new friend (G-Rating, 889 words)

The fever - Kaeya falls asleep at the Angel's Share because he has caught a fever. Diluc wants to take care of him, but struggles with his own contradictory feelings (G-Rating, 1.448 words)

The picture - While looking through the drawers of his desk in search of a quill, Diluc discovers an old picture of him, his father and Kaeya. It brings back a lot of memories and he can't help but wonder what his former sworn brother did with his copy of the photograph. When he coincidentally finds out the answer a little later, it unsettles him a lot (T-Rating, 6.137 words)

The promise - Even in the city of freedom, not everybody agrees with young Kaeya and Diluc having a relationship. Master Crepus has his own thoughts on the matter, but his life ends before he can share them with the two young men. Many years later, be it by chance or by fate, his message reaches them after all (G-Rating, 6.151 words)

The question - There are times when Kaeya just feels insecure and alienated from himself. One night he finds a little comfort in a place where he had not expected to experience something like this ever again (G-Rating, 1.591 words)

The secret plan - It is not a secret in Mondstadt that Kaeya Alberich does not like to celebrate his birthday. Diluc thinks that this is not okay, and he is not alone in his opinion. With determination and dedication he sets about preparing an unforgettable birthday for his beloved (M-Rating, 11.760 words)

The tattoo - Kaeya tells Diluc that he wants to get a tattoo. Diluc soon regrets not telling his friend that he does not like that idea at all… (G-Rating, 774 words)

The War In Your Eyes - Kaeya wakes up in his appartment after a night of drinking. Next to him lies the corpse of another knight, pierced by his sword. He has no memory of what happened and no idea what to do now. Diluc learns of the suspicions against his former sworn brother and can no longer pretend to be indifferent. Both have to work together to clarify what really happened and are forced to face their greatest fears and doubts in the process. (T-Rating, 39.624 words)

The winter storm - Nobody wants to be alone during the darkest days of the year around midwinter. When a snowstorm sweeps over Mondstadt, Kaeya and Diluc suddenly find themselves separated from each other, but at the same time in unexpected company. They find out that even spontaneous changes of plans can have their very own charm (G-Rating, 5.064 words)

Things left unsaid - It was a rainy day when both Diluc and Kaeya lost everything that was important to them. Estranged from each other, they parted ways. But does it really have to end like this or can their relationship be mended? (E-Rating, 18.557 words)

Today, here and now - Diluc's birthday is approaching and Kaeya is unsure what to do: He wants to be there for him because he knows very well that it is a tough day for his friend, but does Diluc want him around at all? And is there anything he can do to help and make this day the happy occasion Diluc deserves in honour of his birthday? (G-Rating, 3.311 words)

Trapped - The Acting Grand Master informs Diluc that Kaeya did not return from one of his missions. Diluc does not hesitate and sets out to find him, but things don't work out the way he had planned it (G-Rating, 2.562 words)

Under The Summer Moon - Kaeya was hoping for some quality time with Diluc at the Golden Apple Archipelago, but their travel group grew a little bit bigger than expected. When he wakes up in the middle of the night to the bright light of a huge moon, he knows their chance has come (G-Rating, 2.704 words)

A suspicious gift - Diluc receives a mysterious present that sends him down memory lane (G-Rating, 433 words)

A very peculiar feeling - Young Kaeya wonders: Why is it that he can't hold his sworn brother's hand anymore without getting nervous? (G-Rating, 643 words)

For better or for worse - Once upon a time, two boys swore an oath to each other. Many years later, one of them is no longer sure if the other even remembers it (G-Rating, 1.646 words)

Leaving you breathless - Diluc can't accept losing to Kaeya. Luckily, he has a plan (G-Rating, 235 words)

The black market auction - Kaeya tries to infiltrate Liyue's underworld undercover. When Diluc also turns up on the scene, he fears for the success of his plan. What brings the other man into the city in the first place, and can Kaeya stop him from revealing his identity? (G-Rating, 2.166 words)

The dessert - It is Kaeya's birthday and Diluc invites him to the winery to have dinner together. It turns out that he has prepared a special treat for dessert (T-Rating, 1.080 words)

The last waltz - The last dance of the New Year's Ball always has a special meaning in Mondstadt, so Diluc gathers all his courage to be able to dance it with someone special to him (G-Rating, 798 words)

The secret competition - Everybody in Mondstadt is excited about a new kind of game. Kaeya and Diluc also enter the competition for the first place (G-Rating, 1.520 words)

On the topic of how much Kaeya and The Rain & Cryo Vision part of his backstory (and a bit of Diluc, Stormterror/Dvalin, Albedo & Dragonspine OSTs, Mondstadt & Venti’s history) means to me personally. Here are some quotes from poems I’ve written, to show the slow improvement and healing.

A/N: Waaah, I didn't even intend to write something for his birthday but alas here I am lol. I wrote this in godspeed mode because when I read his birthday letter and saw the birthday fanart earlier it was as if lightning had struck me with inspiration and it just kept coming - now here we are, enjoy! (*˘︶˘*).｡.:*♡

"As you may know today is my birthday, I’m not one to celebrate but If you have the time, I’d like to invite you to dinner at the winery tonight.

As for matters that I am unable to say in this letter, I will tell you personally when we meet.

A lovedrunk sigh escaped you when you finished reading through the letter the courier had brought to you earlier. You had been together with Diluc for a little while now and from that you knew that he usually greatly disliked it when someone made a fuss out of celebrating his birthday or even did as much as bring him a gift. So being invited for dinner today was something truly special. Even though you had wondered what that last line was implying.

You used every single minute that the day had to offer to prepare for tonight. First, you excitedly picked out the nicest clothes that your wardrobe had to spare before taking a trip to the city to search for a gift for Diluc, even though you knew he wouldn't want anything - but you wouldn't be you if you'd let that stop you from getting him something anyway. You didn’t want it to be anything basic like flowers, chocolates or wine - also because god knows he had enough of the latter himself.

At first you couldn’t find anything worthwhile anywhere until you decided to pay a visit to Mondstadt's souvenir shop and that's where you found precisely what you were looking for. A beautiful silver necklace with a heart pendant cut from crystalcore. You had Marjorie engrave both of your names on the back of it as well. Back at home you carefully wrapped the box it came in with brown parchment paper and decorated it with a red ribbon that you folded intricately around it.

All dressed up, giddy and slightly nervous you were now standing in front of your boyfriend’s home and knocked on the door. You heard quick footsteps approaching the door and assumed Adelinde would open the door as she usually does, but today it was none other than Diluc himself. He was not wearing his coat so you could admire his stature a little more than you were usually able to and at that moment you wanted nothing more than to grab him, pull him closer and feel the touch of his bare arms on your skin.

“Good evening, love. You look gorgeous!” He complimented and his eyes sparkled as he looked at you. 

You slightly blushed and took a step closer to give him a small peck on his lips and ushered a loving “Happy Birthday!”

“I’m glad you’re here.”

When you were standing in the big living room area of the Winery it seemed uncommonly quiet. A big table was set for two with the finest porcelain tableware you had ever seen and a beautiful bouquet and candles were decorating the middle.

“Where are the others?” You turned around to ask.

“The others?”

“Well, you know - Adelinde and everyone who is usually around. It’s so quiet today.”

“I wanted to spend my birthday with you alone. Is that a problem?”

“Not in the slightest! I’ve been in the best mood ever since I got your letter this morning” You beamed. He grabbed your hand and guided you to the table, pulling out the chair for you as you sat down.

“Oh! Before I forget! One more thing!” You exclaimed to which he raised an eyebrow. “Before you scold me, I know you don’t like receiving gifts but no matter how often you will tell me that you don’t want anything, I will get you something nonetheless. So… Happy Birthday.”

With a shy expression you pulled the package which you had carefully wrapped earlier out of your bag and handed it to him. You bit your lip as you watched him unwrap it, pulling out the necklace with a small smile. He twisted the pendant around in between his fingers, until he found the engraving on the back and his smile was suddenly replaced by a frown.

“What? Is something wrong with it? Do you not like it?” You asked with panic welling up in your voice.

“It’s perfect, Darling, but–”

“But?”

“I think the engraving is wrong.”

“No way!” You jumped up from your chair and yanked the necklace out of his hand to look at it yourself but when you turned it around, you found nothing wrong with it. There was an ornate Diluc Ragnvindr engraved on it next to your name, so you looked up at him in confusion.

“Huh, wha–? There is nothing wrong with it!”

“I was under the impression your last name is spelled wrong.”

When you turned it around one more time in your hand you grew even more confused. It was most certainly spelled correctly so you were sure he must’ve read it incorrectly.

When you looked up at him again with question marks and worry written all over your face, Diluc softly shook his head and smiled as he got down on one knee in front of you and pulled out a small box with a breathtakingly beautiful ring inside of it. You momentarily forgot how to breathe and your heart was about to burst out of your chest when he gently grabbed your hand.

“I still believe your last name is spelled wrong, because there is something I had planned to ask you tonight – Will you marry me?”

a/n: when i wrote this i was in a very dialogue heavy mood. apologies, but i still hope it’s a good read.

The tall glass sat on the bar’s countertop, waiting for you to drink it. A soft red mixture sat inside, created by the strong dye that resides in the Valberries. Diluc had just mixed it for you, sliding it over to you once you had finally sat down in front of him. He looked away as you quietly inspected it, too shy to explain his newest creation.

“What is this?”

“Valberry drink,” he murmured quickly, watching your reaction closely, “‘just something I made when I had the materials. I’m thinking about putting it on the menu, but I’d like for you to try it.”

You wrap your fingers around the drink, choosing your next words carefully. “Why me specifically?”

Diluc sighed, the air from his mouth hitting his bangs. “Because you’re honest and you’re not scared to tell me it’s terrible? Just try it for me, please.”

You do your best to fight off the smirk that threatens to plaster itself across your lips. The Master Diluc Ragnvinder was pleading for your help? How sweet.

Despite wanting to tease him more, you picked up the glass and took a shy sip. Then another to gather more of the taste onto your tongue. And then a few more once you realized how much you liked it.  

“So,” he murmured, looking up from behind his shaggy bangs, “how is it?”

You lower the glass from your lips, showing him a genuine smile. “It’s very sweet. Oh, and the mint you added was a nice surprise.”

“Is that all?”

“Maybe use less mint when making the drinks for customers, as the Valberries already add enough freshness,” you swirl the contents of your drink, absentmindedly smiling when the ice clinks against the glass. “Otherwise, it’ll be a hit with customers.”

“You’re sure?”

You nodded. “Positive.”

He gave the drink a dismissive look, shaking his head slightly. “I asked Charles to taste it earlier, he said it was too sweet for his liking.”

“Well, yeah, it’s Charles, he finds lemon juice sweet, his opinion isn’t-”

“Maybe I shouldn’t put it on the menu,” Diluc mumbled, scratching at the base of his neck. “Making just a few of these drinks is already more costly than our others, so we’d have to make them more pricey which could drive away customers…”

You look away from the glass and to him directly, quietly noting the way he quickly adverts his eyes from yours. As gently as you can, you set down the tall glass and push it over to Diluc. The drink manages to regain his attention on you, his eyes trailing up from your fingertips to your face.

“Diluc, just try it for yourself,” you pull your hand away and cross your arms, “Charles doesn’t know anything about a good drink, and the price won’t even matter when customers hear how amazing it is.”

Struggling to come up with a retort, Diluc carefully lifts the glass up to his lips in defeat. As he sampled it, furrowing his brow as the taste met his tongue, you let your eyes drift away from the young master. As tempting as it was to just oogle at your crush, you doubted that he’d appreciate a loyal customer seizing him up like that.

You spotted a small drawing hung neatly in the corner of the bar. It looked to be drawn by a child, the coloring bright and wild on the paper. From what you could see, the drawing seemed to be a depiction of a familiar grumpy red-head wearing a party hat. You were able to recognize the message at the top, which was a nice birthday message, despite the back word and messy symbols that were littered throughout the kind words.

What a minute, a birthday message?

You looked back over to Diluc, who was now peering down into the cup with a smile. He edged a gloved finger along the rim of the glass, seemingly lost in thought. When he saw you turn back to him however, Diluc fumbled slightly with the glass before setting it down. He prayed that his face wasn’t as red as the Valberry drink in front of him.

“It is your birthday today?”

He recoiled back from the drink, shocked at the earnestness in your voice. “Perhaps… Why are you asking?”

“Doesn’t matter, we’re getting you out of here,” you murmur, glancing around at the unusually empty bar. “How mad do you think your regulars would be if you closed four hours early?”

“Very,” he replied instantly, “why are you so insistent on getting me out of here?”

“Because you don’t work on your birthday,” you explain, pushing yourself off the bar stool, “that’s, like, the first rule of birthdays.”

“What if I like working on my birthday?”

You looked over your shoulder, raising one brow at Diluc. The simple action made him chuckle.

“Do you like watching the stars?” you ask, glancing at the nearby window. “I know this great place for stargazing, I think you’d like it.”

“You speak so highly of this place,” he comments, “how could I not go?”

He brightened up when he saw you flash him a genuine smile as you slipped on your coat. “Great, meet me at the gates once you’re done closing the bar.”

“You’re not even going to help me?” he feigned a whine to his voice, trying his best to sound like his estranged brother. “How rude.”

“I’m just going to grab some things,” you lean on the door frame, already twisting the doorknob. “Unless you’d rather rely on each other’s body heat to keep us warm while we stargaze?”

Diluc stammers, making you snicker as his face slowly starts to match his hair color. 

“Remember, front gates,” you push the door open. “Try not to miss me too much until then, alright?”

Before Diluc could answer, you disappeared from the warmth of the Angel’s Share and into the cold night. He paused for a moment, staring at the space you had once stood as a rosy blush found its way to his cheeks. 

“Fuck,” he whispered, burying his head in his hands. “What am I getting myself into?”

preface: he gets home late from his work and has yet to say anything about it being your birthday. reasoning that he has a surprise for you, you decided to stay up. but as the hours went by, you drift asleep, the creak of the door when he finally returns waking you up. pretending to be asleep, you could barely contain your excitement. he whispers your name, but no response (you have to commit to the act after all), so he showers and gets ready for bed. as he gets under the blankets, he pulls you closer and kisses you goodnight. yet there's still nothing about your birthday...

doesn't realize until he sees his reminder too late

it's already the morning after: he wakes up to find that you're not in bed but hears the kitchen sink running so he assumes you're doing the dishes 

picking up his phone, he notices the notification he had failed to see the day before "y/n's birthday - yesterday"

sits up in a panic, thinking back to see if he had even wished you a happy birthday (he realizes that he did not)

he even goes so far as to remember how sad you were that he was scheduled to work on your birthday (but you brushed it off, saying that as long as you could spend some of it with him, it'd be alright)

he scrambled to throw some clothes on (he has not checked the time yet but it's 11:48am - he doesn't wake up early, anything before 12 is a miracle)

reasons that he should at least get you something, so he thinks back, desperately trying to remember anything you stared at for too long or tried to subtly hint that you wanted (he knew what you were doing and always tried to keep a mental list of everything)

remembering something, he rushes out (you don't hear him as you were listening to music as you were doing some house chores to keep yourself distracted)

makes it to the store with the item still in stock (it was the last one) and immediately buys it (doesn't even look at the price tag, just shoves his card at the employee - but politely because he's not rude)

notices a flower shop and stops by to get you a bouquet of your favorite flowers (he asks the florist for the prettiest and best arrangement they could make, assuring them that he could pay for it and not to worry about that)

when he gets home, he notices that you made him lunch when you didn't have to since you were bound to be at least very upset with him if not extremely (his stomach growls, he's used too much energy on an empty stomach)

he's not the type to make lame excuses, he gets straight to the point, apologizing that he forgot that it was your birthday and asking if there was anything in particular you wanted so that he could make up for it

also hands you the gifts he got for you, noticing that you're trying to fight back your smile (he thinks the way you're trying to keep up your anger is adorable, but he knows that now's not the time for that)

does absolutely anything and everything you ask (within reason of course), treating the day as if it were your actual birthday

finally earns a thank you kiss from you at the end of the day and lots of cuddles 

diluc

is up before you (he has to supervise today)

but is most definitely stalling, savoring the time that he gets to see you as he gets ready to leave

kisses you softly, whispering that he'll be back soon and not to miss him too much

doesn't realize until one of his employees mentions it casually ("oh, mr. diluc, what did you get mx. y/n for their birthday?")

he freezes, like actually freezes and is like "what did you say?"

never once has he forgotten your birthday, and to think he's started now makes him literally sick to his stomach

he's demanding to know the day and when he learns that he indeed did forget your birthday, he flips

gives everyone the day off and puts up the closed sign

he makes lots of stops afterwards

the first is the jewelry shop (he decided last year that he was going to get you a ring this year, and so he does)

despite being in a rush, he takes his time with his gifts - he's looking through all of the displays, finally deciding on what he deems the most perfect and purchases it

next is the supermarket, he's going to make you your favorite so he takes his time to choose the best ingredients

third is a flower shop to get you the basket of flowers you had always wanted (yes he remembers even though you mentioned it once on your first date together)

his final stop is the bakery to choose out the best cake and if there wasn't any, he would go to each bakery within a 10 mile radius to find one

it's later than he had hoped when he returns home to you - he finds you sitting on the couch hugging a pillow and watching a show on the tv

whether you noticed him or not, he didn't know, so he set everything on the kitchen table and walked up to you, hands gently holding yours as he pulled you into a hug, burying his nose deep into the crook of your neck, whispering how sorry he is for forgetting and promising that it would never happen again

he then takes your hand again and leads you to the kitchen to give you all the gifts he had gotten you today

he spoils you a bit more than he usually would but he doesn't mind, because the smile you give him afterward makes it all worth it

gorou

is tossing and turning as he slept - something itching the back of his mind kept him from sleeping peacefully, as if he were forgetting something

shoots awake as he looks at the time (03:17) when he notices the date too

is flipping out and he looks at you with your back turned to him, the steady rise and fall almost lulling him back to sleep, tempting him to fall back into his pillow and cuddle with you until he fell asleep again - almost

but he shakes you awake, "let's go somewhere"

you're both in your sleep clothes as you walked around the neighborhood, making it to the street lamp where you both had shared your first kiss

his heart always beats a little bit faster whenever he passes by this street lamp, lips tingling as they remembered the feeling of yours on his 

he spins you around before his hands find their spot on your waist, and as he gently pulls you in, he whispers “sorry i’m late, happy birthday, my love”

and of course he kisses you (you’re literally at the place where you shared your first kiss with him, why wouldn’t he)

he’s tempted to make it a tradition now (but on time obviously) so he does

next year, you can expect him to pull you out of the comfort of your shared bed, walking through the neighborhood to the lamp

but today he calls in sick (he told you that he was lovesick, and therefore needed the day off to spend cuddling with you - he didn’t tell his boss that of course)

would also vow to himself to just take the entire day off on your birthdays from now on as to not let this happen again
