Merrill J. Fernando seen here at the opening of the Information Centre at the Elephant Transit Home, sparing a few minutes to read on the unique anatomical functions of an elephant. Dilmah Conservation recently re-opened the Information Center at the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe. The newly improved center is packed with information giving people a more inclusive learning experience and a better understanding of these ‘Gentle Giants’ and their plight. Through this, Dilmah Conservation hopes to help raise awareness on the severity of the Human-Elephant Conflict and work towards minimizing it and help in long term conservation efforts.

Traces of our Portuguese and Dutch heritage remain in the ruins of a fort that stands on the Island of Delft. The fort, made of limestone and coral, was initially built by the Portuguese and was later taken over by the Dutch invaders and rebuilt to withstand more firepower. These remnants of our culture, heritage and history must be protected for future generations.
