But it didn't make it feel any less real, or make him feel any less helpless as it had when it had actually happened. In this nightmare version of his memory, ten years after it happened, he could still smell the smoke from the fire and the metallic tang of blood from the dead and wounded; he could still hear Jiao Liqiao's laugh just before he slashed his blade across her throat, the flickering fire reflected in her eyes making her finally look as insane as she was. oooo ty, i was just thinking i wanted to try this... it's hard tho! these will probably be mostly baseball just because it's by far what i've written the most for.

you've got a glow (series), T, daiya no ace it's only castles burning / what's simple is true cheating a little, but the grifter krry diptych is still probably some of the best/prettiest writing i've done and also some of the best character work. the fun thing about aus is changing all the circumstances but still trying to hold onto the core of the characters.

i don't know where this love will take me, G, chihayafuru canon divergent/postcanon arata/taichi ficlet for chocobox. i like my language use here and i think i was able to grasp what i wanted to about the nature of their relationship. chihayafuru is kind of an intimidating canon to write for because it's so poetic but i think i did ok!

this too shall, G, daiya no ace pre-relationship canon compliant chriszaizen reconciliation. as usual i was ambivalent about this after i wrote it, but looking back i think i accomplished what i set out to do and since more than one sports injury sufferer has told me i touched the right nerves i'll count it as a win. grief/mourning for something you can never get back is like catnip for me.

more alive than silence, T, daiya no ace magical realism canonverse-ish shunmiyu. i love magic realism and don't write it enough, but i think it does really plays to my strengths as a writer. the atmosphere is good and it's one of my fics that hits both "only barely romantic" and "not about baseball but also baseball is everywhere" trademarks. also the "rareship like 5 people care about" one too lol.

can't read my poker face, E, mysterious lotus casebook, ongoing modern dihua actor au cowritten with @la-muerta. not sure if this would make my overall top five in general since i'm generally a bit ambivalent about how stripped down my writing style for mlc has been, but it's my favorite right now! it's a departure for me in terms of premise and style, but honestly it's just a lot of fun to write. hasn't earned its rating in posted chapters yet, but it's coming.

Chapter Five: 各怀鬼胎 "Di-mengzhu, what are you doing?" Li Xiangyi asked in amusement when Di Feisheng grabbed his wrist and led him towards their rooms. "They are capable of drinking themselves stupid on their own, my presence is unnecessary," Di Feisheng replied brusquely, letting go of Li Xiangyi's wrist once they were alone. "So eager to get me to the wedding chambers? People will talk," Li Xiangyi said, mischief in his tone. But he managed to keep up with Di Feisheng's stride and to Di Feisheng's surprise, slipped his hand into the crook of Di Feisheng's arm. "Try to keep up the act, Di-mengzhu."

Chapter Eight: 愿你我自在纵横 Di Feisheng hadn't said anything, but Li Xiangyi suspected that his solution to this, as well as Li Xiangyi's concerns that Fang Duobing might be pulled into this mess, would probably be to kill Shan Gudao and the remnants of the Nanyin people, so that there was no one left to revive their long-vanquished kingdom. As the person who was supposed to be their emperor and their hope, Li Xiangyi thought he should at least try to convince them to give up the past and live for the future.

Chapter Six: 至白首不弃 It hadn't even been a month since Shan Gudao had stomped out of Sigu Sect manor after their argument, but he was almost unrecognisable to Li Xiangyi now. It wasn't his physical appearance, even though his clothes were definitely more ostentatious, even given that his shixiong had always preferred such rich material after leaving Yunyin Mountain. It was the way he carried himself, filled with confidence and certainty in his victory, and the cold contempt in his eyes.

Chapter Three: 英雄难过美人关 "Zunshang?" That was Wuyan's voice. Someone was leaning heavily on his back. Di Feisheng had been forced to sleep in close quarters with other people in his youth before he became the leader of the Jinyuan Alliance, out of practicality or necessity. But it was his habit to always sleep with his back to the wall, never to another person, and never so deeply that Wuyan had to wake him. "Zunshang?" Wuyan said a little louder, but didn't dare to touch him.
