Friend: How is it possible that you are SO in love with Dreamworks Trolls? But you watch adult stuff like Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, and now The Amazeing Digital Circus?

Friend *trying to take in all the sex, drug jokes, and heavy messages. And the diverse animation style. Combing live action, 2D, 3D, and creative as hell.*........... why do some Trolls have genitals while others don't? And how do they flip the bird if they only have four fingers? And how does racism even work here? Does that mean that Funk Trolls were slaves, if we're paralleling their world to ours? Are the Pop Trolls white folks in this world? Colonizing and all. Are they like chinchillas? Instead of bathing in water, they bathe in glitter the same way chinchillas bath in dust? Is Branch still depressed because he keeps going from blue to gray?

This is just a combination of things my friends have asked. And they end up listening to the soundtrack afterward. Look, this is why I love what I love. Helluva Boss is very cartoony, silly, and colorful. Kid like but rated R. Hazbin Hotel is baiscaly a Disney Princess story but rated R. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is self-explanatory. Sesame Street gone wrong. The Amazeing Digital Circus is like a roblox game that kids play all the time turned into a horror show. And Trolls is made for 6 and under, but man, do they get away with risky jokes and go heavy on the message/story and make amazing music. A massive treat for adults. And all shows/films have amazing world building and charater designs.

Baiscally, stuff that caters/treats the adults while having a child like wonder to them is my favorite form of media. 🤣

So yesterday two of my housemates' friends arrived from another city and they went out drinking. No biggie so far. The problem was when I woke up around 3AM and heard 2 other voices, 1 female, 1 male. The female one I recognized as the girl my ex is dating, but the male voice was quieter and didn't talk much so I didn't know who it was...At first at least. Then I listened more carefully...

IT WAS MY FUCKING EX BF

Also I reeeeally needed to piss but I couldn't go out bc everybody was in the kitchen, so I had to wait til 5AM!!!!!!! to piss in my own apartment without seeing my ex who lives in a different fucking city.

Side not the girl my ex is dating lives about 20 minutes (on foot) from us so I truly don't get why the fuck would she an my ex sleep over here.

Hey, you know what my favorite scene of the Interstella 5555 was?

It was in the Aerodynamic part:

How old was I seeing this for the first time? 15, 17? Still ocassionally playing with my Lego figures

It was pre-internet era and I watched Viva, MTV and VH1 literally hunting, hoping to see that music video again. To see this moment again.

The guitar guy. He was like a warrior outnumbered, he runned like a rebel... And with that energetic music! He almost managed to run away! But they caught him anyway.

And he could do nothing.

They shot him with a paralyzing bolt. Made him unconscious.

Now they can do anything with him!

And who are they even? Not trying to kill or beat him... Maybe they won't hurt him. But then what do they want?!

He's so soooo powerless...

So mamy times I recalled that scene. I dreamed about it, analysed it, desired to watch it again.

To feel it again.

Poor guy, it was so terrible!

After all this run...

He could not even fight back!

I can still feel the thrills

And the mist, and the cold, and the darkness. And that shooting merciless guy in the mask.

It all felt so scary

I was so excited

It was horrible!

It was awesome!

I love the hate and fear in his face

I wished nobody to be treated like that!

And so much wanted to see it one more time

And if you'd ever travel back in time to tell me I was probably developing a mind of a kinkster I would be so so offended. I would so much hate you for such insinuations. I might really want to "kill you, kill you till you die from it!"

For most time in my life I thought kink/BDSM was about sex. And capturing that guitar guy was everything but sex. It was about losing control. About being powerless in face of a more powerfull and mysterious opponent. Someone wanting to take your power instead of taking your life. Making the fear of unknow even greater that the fear of death. It's about being defeated... and so easily... no matter how fiercly you were ready to fight. About being caught alive, not get hurt - no matter your fear and hate. About the feel of humiliation. About being disarmed, left defenceless. And then being so helpless in somebody else's arms...

Definitely not about sex at all!

TADC: Thoughts on Jax in Episode 2

Thoughts on Jax after Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 Dropped.

Massive spoilers below the cut. Just watch the ep before you read.

Amazing Digital Circus had an amazing second episode as we're introduced more to what the adventures are like, and what NPCs are like and ofc the existential horror of being a living AI only created for a source of entertainment.

Also, I love the dream sequence at the beginning, because we actually get some deeper insight into Pomni's thoughts on Ragatha. Feeling like her helpfulness is the guise of like "man, you're not cut out for this like the rest of us" which is typically something a lot of people who have been bullied in highschool perceive genuine acts of kindness and engagement. (which I kind of suspect Pomni might have been, or at least, been a shut-in and didn't have a lot of friends in her human life. )

Jax wasn't really the main focus of the episode, but it wasn't really until the end of the episode I understood his behavior and what this episode is foreshadowing overall.

Since while Jax isn't the focus emotionally, he is definitely the plot device to push things forward. And I mean, a plot device in a very active and quite literal way. He's the one that causes Pomni to clip out of the map, takes advantage of everyone and is just... genuinely an unpleasant person.

I actually really like this.

As, I know the first episode in the digital circus, many people (me included) could perceive or analyze Jax's actions as someone who is "helping" in a roundabout asshole way. Episode Two has none of that here. He just wants Bloodshed, And I love that we're getting additional context on his character.

It's hard to tell how much fan reception Gooseworx saw of episode one before episode two hit production, so I don't know how much of the fandom perception of Jax had an influence on the writing process, but I can't deny that might have been a factor in assuring us "no he's not secretly helpful, he's just an asshole" But I'm just going to assume that this has been part of his characterization from the start and it becomes way more clear as the episode goes on.

But there was something in his behavior throughout this whole episode that seemed off to me. Like Jax was taking up a majority of the B-plot, while Pomni had the A-plot. So I was wondering why Jax seemed to be the protagonist with the B-plot when Pomni was the A-plot when they seemed to be so disconnected with eachother in motivations and telling us things about the characters.

But then it hit me when the episode ended and the two plots merged together.

"who... knows... what could happen..."

And then it hit me.

Pomni finds comfort in an NPC who is going through a similar experience to her and can emphasize, despite their being other humans who have gone through the same thing, due to her self-admitting to being a loner in her human life. Well, she didn't admit it outright, but from how she perceives Ragatha's kindness as an act, or patronizing, it seems like she doesn't have a lot of friends...

Meanwhile... Jax... He treats the adventure like a videogame. Why shouldn't he? He's trapped in a videogame, right? But it really goes beyond that.

The fellow humans that Jax is trapped with, he treats THEM like they're NPCs, while Pomni treats the NPC like they're human.

Jax says to Gangle "Aren't you supposed to be the suggestible one?" Which you wouldn't typically wouldn't say to a person, right? That's something you would say more about a character that you maxed out the dialogue trees in.

He calls Pomni "His Bridge" even.

They're his objects. His tools, his own npcs he's exhausted the dialogue options on.

Jax dehumanizes the players in a way that Pomni humanizes the NPCS.

These are two opposite ends of the spectrum but what really sold it for me was Jax's reaction to the funeral.

And Jax is the one member out of the cast who doesn't even show up to the funeral. (aside from Caine and Bubble but they are AI.)

He does NOT want to think about the Players as real people. And showing that opposite perspective compared to Pomni I think is much as important going forward.

Jax was the plot catalyst of this entire episode, and served the thematic theme of the episode quite well, even if it didn't look like it on first glance.

I absolutely loved this episode and I can't wait for more.

Also... Poor Pomni can't have shit in Detroit
