My two goals with value studies are to understand and train my eye in regard to creating strong values and expand my ability to create a varietyof differentmoods in monochrome (shocking) and to get myself comfortable with drawing through working with shape and value instead of pure line.

Ideally these exercises will streamline the painting process by allowing me to merge the sketch and painting process. Once I feel confident in creating strong value, forms, and shapes (or get bored of monochrome) in these studies I'll move on to applying color to these pieces.

I take a long time in the sketch phase and I feel that in my painting that's something that holds me back and unnecessarily slows down my process and the more confident I am as a painter the more I'll be willing to delete my art as the drawfee hosts would say and make adjustments
