#diff rogue wip

12 is a fic I've shared, An Unexpected Quarter. Before i came up with a title for it at the absolute last minute before posting it, the folder it was in was titled "idek what to call this one." (I'm great at working titles.) Murderbot gets captured by the company, with no one to help it, but gets unexpected help from a company tech who takes pity on it. I really like angst but not too much angst, and this is where the perfect balance lies for me--a character thinking all hope is lost, but then it turns out it's not after all! Also, random humans who are in bad situations themselves recognizing the personhood of SecUnits and helping them out even at personal risk is something I enjoy.

36 is a very short wip titled "diff rogue." This is because I keep writing fics about random rogue SecUnits. (Other wips in this theme include working titles "another rogue" and "another about-to-be-rogue secunit bc of course.") (I'm great at working titles.) I haven't looked at "diff rogue" in ages, and poking around at it, there is very little going on here and I'm kind of confused about what this is XD

A snippet of conversation that I'm fairly sure takes place between ART and the titular random OC rogue secunit:

Who are you? I…the file said to contact this code. You are a rogue SecUnit. I don’t know how to answer that. It didn’t occur to me until now that this could be a trap. I assume your silence is an affirmative. I am currently at docking port []. If you can successfully make it there, you will be safe.

You know what, I'm pretty sure this concept was a follow-up to another wip, which is titled Murderbot and Three's Guide to Being a Rogue SecUnit. (gasp, a title!) That one was about MB and Three creating a revised version of the HelpMe.file, and planning to distribute it to other SecUnits that they encountered. So i think the idea for "diff rogue" was that a SecUnit got its hands on the file and the govmod hack, and then tried to track them down based on the "call us and we'll help you get to safety" instructions in the file. All i wrote was a very small amount of this SecUnit being very anxious and ART protecting slash terrorizing it a bit.

This one is probably not going to get finished ever, as the idea was pretty sparse in the first place, but it was fun to revisit!
