Yeah, he's gotta stay in human form in public, phoenixes are a well kept secret to the point where Phoenix... doesn't actually know other phoenixes exist. Other birds can totally tell he's a bird, but I'm not sure how compatible parrots and pigeons are. It might just flat out go the same way as canon? Phoenix might EXPECT to be a bird whisperer, since the local pigeons are so enamored with him... but it turns out he's good with ONLY pigeons and doves.

I want to see the Mia and Miles au during the third game.

okay nonny i gotta be real with you i have no idea how it works but i can map out all of the thoughts i've had because this has been something i've been brainstorming for a while

I feel like the third game (fitting for it being the final of the trilogy) is all about acceptance of loss. It's like the final stage of grief. It's by far the saddest of trilogy games, but you finish playing it reassured that the characters have all gotten their own closure. And it's hard to keep that theme when the major event that drove most of that (Mia's death) never happens in this AU.

The first thing that needs to be addressed is: Godot. Would Diego need to change his identity and go on a revenge plot if Mia never dies? And if he does, what would be the consequences? Would Diegodot kill Misty Fey still? Would Diegodot still put Maya through all of that? There's no way that would slide with Mia. And it seems so... evil if Mia is still around, you know?

I've thought out some other things that might work, though. Mia and Miles go abroad together. For whatever reason Miles went over in canon, Mia joins him. They have a grand time together.

Mia is abroad when Diego wakes up, and for whatever reason, she's unaware of it (maybe because he doesn't know how to contact her anymore (memories are jumbled maybe) and she was never listed as an emergency contact). It tears him up inside and then he hears that she's abroad with Miles Edgeworth, and he had always had a suspicion that Miles had a little crush on her.

And this is where the idea gets lame because I hate the idea of Godot being born or whatever because Diego thought that Mia had moved on while he was in a coma. Like that just feels gross, you know? Like the canon plotline is on thin ice already.

Also imagine how embarrassing that would be when it's revealed that Miles and Mia are not a couple and that he came up with his whole fake identity for nothing? It'd be so cringe. That's why there needs to be a more solid motivation for Diego to become Godot.

But then there's also always the alternative where Diego never goes by Godot but becomes a prosecutor anyway, unable to track down Mia and unwilling to go to Phoenix for help. The trauma of the poisoning could be enough imo to propel him into prosecuting and becoming kinda a nasty person.

Also?? I think that Diego would be pretty pissed that his former employer was the one who leaked Misty Fey's involvement DL-6 to the police and that could also be a motivation for career change.

Another question would be if Misty Fey does die. If she doesn't, does she get to reunite with her girls again? Does Miles have to deal with that because after everything, Mia solved her mom's case and got her back and he still doesn't have his dad? Does Misty listen to Maya and Mia talk about Miles and thank him for being there for her girls and take him in as her son? Does Miles feel any resentment towards her for channeling his dad (since he calls her a fraud or something in the third game)?

All of that being said, I think a reunion between Diego and Mia and Miles could be sweet if there were a happy ending. Mia would get to hug him and cry and touch his hair with shaky hands.

Miles would stand by and smile and offer a handshake, and Diego is just like "oh my god you grew up, brat." And Miles tells him that there's a very long story to it, but he's changed and wants to apologize for literally everything he did all those years ago. And Diego is pretty pleased and is pretty happy to see him again and is internally like oh boy I've been waiting for this kid to snap out of his phase so I can full-on big brother mode.

I can elaborate on literally any of these points in a separate post too lmao
