Lacuna Coil are never a chore to listen to, and the way Broken Crown Halo loops back on itself so well made it an instant replay. The 2014 album continues to lean into the hard rock staples, having largely moved on from the heavier elements that so defined them before, but does so without abandoning the core identity of the band. Would I have liked a little more bite in the soundscape? Yes, but I still had a good time, so I rate it. Highlight tracks include Nothing Stands In Our Way, Die & Rise, I Forgive, and One Cold Day.
