synopsis: the genshin men crushing on you and the little ways they show they care.

content: Kaeya/Venti/Alhaitham/ Arataki Itto x gender neutral reader. First time writing for venti so apologies if its a lil off. Fluff. Friends to lovers. Kissing in kaeya's. wingman diluc honestly. Going a lil feral in alhaithams and ittos. Use of nickname dear and cecilia<3 They are all quite long but I hope you all enjoy it! Not completely proofread. ⁎⁺˳✧༚ Kaeya໒꒱.*

Diluc is sure of three things. One, You're hands down single-handedly keeping the icedtea business alive in Mondstadt, his arms are still hurting from the heavy crates of imported tea from Liyue he has to carry every. Single. Week. Two, you're incredibly oblivious, three, kaeya is a lovesick fool.

Even though diluc has offered to deliver some iced tea crates to your home, it seems that you prefer to drink his stash empty at the bar next to kaeya.

It's making him ill really, seeing the way his brothers eyes keep drifting to your lips and how his hands inch closer to yours, still never really touching. Diluc almost doesn't recognize him. Kaeya is not the type to get flustered easily, if anything, try to make him flustered and it will backfire! but here he is, for hours sitting at the bar head leaning on his hands staring at you like you hung the stars.

You fail to notice how, despite not touching your drink for so long, at one point even dancing around the tavern when the bard played your favorite song, the icecubes in your glass never seem to melt and the tea never gets warm. It's the least he can do, Kaeya would be showing you more grand gestures of love if you didnt make his head fog up with hearts and flowers everytime your near.

"I'm going to use the bathroom, i'll be right back! "You say as you hop of the barstool and make your way to the second floor.

"This, is getting sad you know", diluc speaks as he snatches both yours and Kaeya's glass away, dodging quick enough as Kaeya tries to get it back

"Oh i'm sorry, I didn't know my love life was such an interesting show to you. I'll make sure to tell the writers"

He's not gentle as he grabs one of the big pints, pours your favorite iced tea in with the ice cubes and slices of lemon and two straws this time and places it down infront of kaeya.

"I'm doing you a favor icicle"

Kaeya's unable to retort a remark back because you're sitting down next to him again.

"Ooh whats this, luc?" As you stir the tea with your straw, the ice cubes gently clinking against the edges of the glass

"On the house, it's the last"-he throws you a look- bit of icetea I have for tonight. Enjoy." And with that he steps out the backdoor for a break leaving you and kaeya in an almost empty tavern

He's feeling uncharacteristically shy sharing a drink like this. He's not sure he can contain the love confession thats lingering on his lips if you're that close to eachother. You snap him out of his thoughts before he can even try.

"Come on try this with me...its...its quite romantic don't you think" you say, a little timid

Youre killing him. Hes deceased y/n.

"Yeah, didn't- didnt realise Diluc had a romantic bone in him, guess it runs in the family after all"

You're not sure where you got the courage from for what you're about to say

"Maybe, we should do more of these romantic things together."

And just like that, knowing you shared his feelings, he got a bit of his charming wit back.

"My dear y/n- he starts, leaning down closer to you, one icy hand holding yours. Are you asking me out on a date" he wants to revel in making you flustered but he's pretty sure he looks just as flustered as you do.

"Only if you want to, Kaeya"

The way he presses his lips to yours gives you the answer you needed<3

Venti, alhaitham and itto under the cut!

Archons, the summer this time around is way hotter than any summers before. It's scorching outside and if it weren't for your knight of favonius duties, duties you took over for the Cavalry Captain for his day off (>:( ), you would stay inside the cool headquarters, in your little office with the curtains closed.

You really should get going but you're delaying stepping outside. The favonius headquarters is nice and cool and and looking outside you can see the heat radiating from the stone pathways

You're a knight of favonius! A little sunshine isn't going to hurt! You try to hype yourself up as you make it to the entrance. You can do this, who knows, you might even get a tan.

Bracing yourself and pushing the heavy doors open, you're pleasantly surprised at how the wind immediately seems to pick up and twirl and flow around you in cooling circles. Yes, the sun is still beaming down in all his glory, but the breeze definitely helps. You may even get through this without breaking too much of a sweat.

As you're doing your errands and run basically all over Mondstadt, the gentle breeze surrounding you never seems to falter, even now, as you carry heavy crates of sunsettias and apples up the stairs to Good Hunter, it actually seems like the wind has started to pick up, aiding you in its own way.

Sara is more than grateful as you place the crates down in the back for her. "You're a lifesaver y/n, please, go sit down and i'll whip something up for you".

Who are you to deny a break and a free meal?

Before you sit down you take off your sword and place it down next to you so you can completely unwind. It's not until you look back up from your weapon that you see Venti, with the bright smile he always seems to carry, sitting infront of you

"Hi, my sweet cecilia"

Archons, that nickname. You're lucky you can blame the weather on the sudden warmth flowing through your body.

"You're awfully happy for such a hot day, Venti"

He doesn't provide an answer to that, why is he so happy? Because he's with you of course, he's basically been spending the whole day with you, how could he not be happy?

instead of saying that tho he says "the wind is nice, hmm?" And On cue the wind stars to pick up again, now carrying the scent of the meal Sara is cooking up for you and twirling a few flower petals that got caught in it around you You little

"Yeah it is, i'm not sure I would have been able to get through the day without a little breeze in my face" you laugh and it's the sweetest melody he's ever heard.

"I guess the anemo archon has a soft spot for me"

"I suppose he does"

You fail to catch the longing glint in his eyes and the blush covering his cheeks as Sara brings you your meal<3

⁎⁺˳✧༚ Alhaitham໒꒱.*

It's not until Kaveh points it out, after Alhaitham leaves to pick up another book from the House of Daena library shelves, that you realize it, but it seems that Alhaitham, despite looking like he wants to be anywhere but here, always seems to look out for you.

Like the time he dragged you to the desert to study runes with him, he made sure every time you two stood still for a long time, he'd raise his cape a little above your head, sheltering you from the burning sun

And that one time where he grabbed your arm and pulled you into his side when some drunkards stumbling home almost bumped into you

"Drop your pen when he gets back" kaveh says, breaking you out of your thoughts.

"Drop my-"

"Sshh, just do it" he hushes quickly and goes back to drawing as Alhaitham sits back down next to you with a new book in his hand.

You let Alhaitham read a few more pages before you "accidentally" drop your pen under the table, sliding your seat back and ducking under to retrieve it, when you look back up to avoid hitting your head on the corner of the table, Alhaithams hand is already covering it. His gaze is still as focused as ever on the book infront of him, it's almost like it happened entirely subconsciously, like it was already engraved in his perception to look out for you and that alone made the butterlies in your tummy flutter around. You don't miss the "I told you so" gaze Kaveh throws at you.

Alhaithams book manages to hide the gentle smile he failed to hold back as he guesses from the look on your face and body language that you're onto him, and if he can guess one more time, he'd say the feelings are mutual.

He doesn't say anything but he does reach under you to grab the leg of your chair and pull you closer to him, arm draped behind you over the backrest, gently drawing shapes on your shoulder as he continues to read his book

⁎⁺˳✧༚ Arataki Itto໒꒱.*

The locals of Inazuma are used to the never ending thundering and lightning. Even on clear days, it seems like you can always hear it lurking in the distance, dancing over the seas. Unfortunately for you, you’re not a local and despite having been here for a while, long enough to develop strong friendships and perhaps a little crush <3 the loud claps of thunder and the lightning that cracks open the clouds still make you flinch

You were embarrassed about it, so you never voiced it out to your friends. You would just try to hide your flinches and do your best to block out the noise. You're not doing that very well unfortunately. Itto has noticed, and boy does it make his heart hurt a little every time he catches you trying to hide it. You're part of the gang! Whether you know  that or not, you're supposed to be able to tell him these things! but he understands, you seem to think that you're going to look weak in front of Arataki numero uno claymore swinging devil beatbox and beetle fighting legend Itto. He made me write this really You could never considering he gets weak in the knees everytime you make eye contact or touch his horns

So as the leader of your gang, your best friend and hopefully future boyfriend, he’s gonna help you because If there's one thing Itto is good at its being loud. It’s quite hard to hear the thunder lurking in the background when Itto's boisterous laugh as he’s "winning" a game of TCG seems to overpower everything, including the way your heart beats a little faster when he smiles at you.

You didn’t notice what he was doing until there was a summer storm forecasted. You didn't even have time to mentally prepare yourself for it before there was a harsh knocking at your door, maybe a bit to hard itto pls dont break the door

"Open up sunshine, I have some snacks :D"

He’s quick to make himself comfortable as you let him in, throwing the impressive amount of snacks and some card games on the coffee table and then taking up half the space on the couch, being careful to not knock the lamp on the sidetable down with his horns.

"Not that I mind Itto, but i didn't expect you to come over. Any reasons?"

"Yeah you're"- he cuts himself off. You never told him about your fear of thunder, would it upset you if you knew he figured it out?, archons he didnt think of an excuse what should he say, where is Kuki in times like this

"Yeah, I just thought i’d keep you some company because I AM afraid of summerstorms, yup, totally terrifying, so scary,so here i am."

Even he knows it's not believable. Especially since he has directed some...colorful words with the shogun before (not in her presence)

It was valentines day, a holiday you use to hate but now your so excited. Art had texted you earlier in the evening to tell you he was going to bring you somewhere around 10. You didnt know exactly why he was taking you to this place but he said youd enjoy it. He told you he was going to bring you to a amusement park, you thought it was a bit suspicious but didnt question it. All you could think about was how this was going to be the first time you spend valentines with the person you love.

It was about 9:50 when he texted you that he was going to be at your house soon. You look in the mirror before getting a wave of anxitey about how you look, but you remebered he doesnt care how unready, or "ugly" you look, your words not his. You heard a vehicle pull into the driveway and you take a deep breath before turning around to walk towards the door, before you hear his horn honk right in your face. you scream at the loud noise and the unexpectancy of him inside your house. You then take another deep breath before opening your eyes and looking at him, he had a card and a bundle of flowers, covered in blood obviously. He then hands it to you and gives you his usual smile. You take the handmade card and the bloody flowers and tear up a little. "for me?" you ask, looking up at him with tears running down your face. He gives you a dumb look before nodding with a bit of sass. You giggle and sniffle at your stupid question, Art then points to the paper card, telling you to read it. You place the flowers on your vanity before looking back at the card. The front had a big heart with your names in the middle. Y/N + Art. It looked like art wrote it in blood. You open the card and read it, the handwriting is sloppy but readable. "happy valentines day, art", you read before flipping over the card and placing it down. you give him a smile a hug him tightly, smiling while doing so. He hugs back, leaning down to give your forehead a kiss. He pulls away as he grabs your hand. Art looks at the door, in a way of asking if your ready. You nod and hold onto his hand, walking out of the door.

Its around 10:30 by now and you and Art have been driving for about 20 minutes, you whine looking at him, "are we almost theree?". Art nods, speeding up to get to the destination faster. You grab his hand tightly shaking in your boots at the speed. "slow down art!" you whine grabbing onto him tighter. He shakes his head as he swerves into the empty parking lot of the amusement park. You look around and recognize this place from the news. You continue to look around before art slams his door shut, taking you out of thought. He then comes to your side, opening the door for you. Art moves his hand around, silently telling you to get out of the van. You jump out and look at him with suspicion, "you killed a little girl here.. why are we here art?" you ask, but he doesnt move, he just keeps walking towards the entrance. After walking for a few minute you reach the attraction "TERRIFIER", you recognize it from the survivor of Art. you tilt your head as he continues walking, finally stepping inside of the attraction. Your anxiety goes up, feeling a bit uneasy by this. You dont know if he'll torture you or kill you. You keep your guard up, feeling tense. Art notices this and rubs your hand, reassuring you he will not kill you. You feel a bit more relaxed as your thought are most definetly not true, that you know of. You and art continue walking untill he stops in one specific room, the room the little pale girl held jonathan in. You see a torn up blanket on the ground and a doll head as a pillow, you feel guilty just at the side, knowing your boyfriend sleeps here instead of in your bed. Art then pulls out a tiny chair and motions for you to sit on it. You walk over and slowly sit down, he then sits on the ground right infront of you. "this is where you sleep when you leave?" you ask with a bit of concern. He nods smiling and putting his hands together and then against his head, acting out a sleeping act. You smile, "your okay here, right?" you ask, still a bit sad. Art nods once again, he stands up quickly running to a shelf in the room. He picks up a bucket and sits it right infront of you while he sits back down. Art then hands you the box, You take it and open it. Its full of different horns, weapons and one random book thats ruined by blood. You raise a eyebrow before giggling "this keeps you entertained huh? your a literal child" you say smiling at him. Art smiles to and nod grabbing his usual black horn. He squeezes the ball and its alot louder. You jump slightly before smiling. You shake your head and you stand up. Art stands up with you and he grabs your waist and hugs you. You hug back and kiss his neck softly, he pulls away from the hug and kisses your lips.

after staying a while in his place, playing around, laughing (only you), and just cuddling you had to go. You didnt want to leave, you didnt wanna leave the love of your life. You wanted to stay with him, even if it is in this room filled with dolls. Art see's your sadness and hugs you once again. "can i stay? one night?" You ask in a very sad tone. Art knows if your here and someone randomly comes in your gonna get killed. Not by him but buy whoever come in, he can come back but he knows you cant. Art thinks about it for a few minutes, his face straight and deep in thought. He then looks at you before nodding, a smile back on his face. You jump up in excitement as he says yes, basically, you hug him once again with a huge smile. You feel your head go airy and you cant stop what was about to come out of your mouth. It all happened so fast, you couldnt stop yourself. "i love you art!" you say. Art tenses up and looks at you, you realized what you just said and you start breathing heavily. You were supposed to say that in a few more months.. now you ruined it. Art them pushes back before signing "i love you more". You look at him in shock, your body completely still. You finally come back to your senses running to him and kissing him. Your arms wrap around his neck and pull away. your heart pounding at the moment that just happened. Hoping this could last forever. Wishing you could replay this moment over and over. you smile and look into his eyes as you pull away. he loves you. he loves your imperfections.. he. loves. you.

a/n: i went to this resturaunt called the hangout in gulf shores and it was just so fun and i got this idea from it!!! btw readers name will be scarlett

summary: scarlett and drew have been dating for about 2 years when them and the cast of obx all go out to dinner at this fun local resturaunt when drew surprises scarlett.

warnings: literally none this is the cutest thing everrrrr!!!

when the cast of obx gets seated at the busy resturaunt and orders their drinks, they all start chatting in their little groups.

"this place is so fun, look at those shark drinks!" carlacia points out the blue drinks with sharks in them, and they watch as man pours the red contents in the shark into his drink, "i am definitely getting that!" rudy says, making the whole group laugh.

a shorter tanned man makes his way to the front of the large, opened resturaunt and turns on his microphone. "hello folks! welcome to the hangout! i just wanted to take a minute before the fun starts to recognize anyone that has served our country, so please stand if you are a veteran or active member of the army."

a handful of people in the restaurant stand and everyone claps for them, the man continues with teachers, healthcare workers, police officers, and firefighters. "alllllllllll righty folks now let's get the fun started! if you know a fun man of the house point him out! boyfriends, husbands, dads! point em out folks!" i look over at drew and smirk, the other boys in the group shaking their heads, not wanting to do anything.

"all right, all right." drew says laughing as the whole group starts to point at him, getting the man with the microphone's attention. "how about you over there," he points at drew, "come on up here!" drew gets up and walks towards the man as he points out a couple of other men in the resturaunt.

once their are two other men up their with drew, the shorter guy starts again. "alright now that we have our three contestants, please say your names!" he goes down the line of the men, starting away from drew, when he gets to drew he has to look up at him and he laughs, "gosh you are tall, what's your name sir?" "drew." drew laughs, and our whole group laughs at the shorter man's words.

"now that we know our three contestants, let's get them started on the lip sync challengeeeeeeeeeee!" the whole resturants cheers for the three men. i turn my chair to face them better.

as the first two men go, one of them has to sing baby, by justing beiber, and the other sings party in the usa by miley cyrus. now it was drew's turn and he gets handed the mic.

the music stops for a second before it starts again, playing marry you by bruno mars. drew begins to sing for the crowd as they all laugh at his excitement.

"is it the look in your eyes? or is it this dancing juice?"

drew sings as he goes through the crowd, table to table.

"who cares baby? i think i wanna marry you."

drew starts to make his way towards our table as i uncontrollably smile at his excitement.

"cause it's a beautiful night,"

he comes closer to our table as i laugh at his goofiness.

"we're looking for something dumb to do."

he finally makes it to our table as he sets the mic on the table, going down onto one knee, making my heart almost stop.

"hey baby," he sings.

"i think i wanna marry you." he pulls out a gold ring has my breath gets stuck in my throat and my eyes swell up. the music slows and finally comes to stop as the resturaunt quiets, waiting for my response.

"yes!" i jump up and hug him tighter than i ever have as the whole resturant cheers and the song begins to play again. when we break away from the hug i pull him into a deep, romantic kiss. when i pull away i turn around and look at my friends.

"did u guys know about this?" i laugh. they all look at eachother, acting like they didnt know anything at all. "you assholes!" i laugh, sitting in my seat. "we didn't want to ruin the surprise!" chase laughs.

"everyone give it up for the bride and groom to be!" the shorter man says, making the whole crowd turn to us and cheer.

my current understanding of raf lore in regards to mc's part in it is basically ↓

they met as kids once when he ran away from home to explore (Nightly Stroll), but then he went back home n mc got taken in by those culty people

(Forgotten Sea) they reunite as fellows in more fucked roles. raf initially chose her as follower for convenience (probably didnt instant recognize) but then as they realize more abt each other they become friends in an arranged marriage adjacent situation that ends up actually wrong to the sea somehow. but i mean the tome is weird abt what it says abt how he should treat a follower and he himself also claims "tis a human fantasy" for lemurians to fall for who theyre bound to. yet he fell n all.

more theory territory bc again the end of forgotten sea is vague—during the ceremony, his awakening doesnt work bc the sea could tell he isnt more devoted to it than he is to mc, and the sea demands him to choose between her n lemuria (not that the sea would destroy its own people, but the flame lemuria needs was already dying, and rafayel's proper awakening couldve saved it but now it needs a sacrifice). it's such a last minute twist / confirmation of fears and mc makes him sacrifice her (or he kills her bc the sea compells him). this brings forth the new flame.

but rafayel dies a lot later as Forgotten Sea says, because... the incident with sea witch mc (Fragrant Dream) and the implied mc of Siren's Song (idk what order these would be). but the thing abt sea witch is—she may have been cursed as punishment by the sea, and raf didnt agree with this, turned her back human at the cost of a lot of effort n his life. he basically died for mc 1-2 times total for all the above, no matter what order. but he probably knew he'd die for sea witch (i doubt the sea offed him). so hes not above dying for mc except

"a rumor" "the god of the sea had lied to the deep sea for his beloved" (Forgotten Sea) im believing this rumor and that the lie was sometjing like.. that he'd take back the heart he gifted mc (which already irked the sea, hence flickering flame during Forgotten Sea kiss that happened right after the gifting) (it sounded like a metaphorical gifting at first but ig not) (maybe halfway. somethingsometjing magic). bc he doesnt want to kill her, especially after he already tried killing her once, and he doesnt trust everything the sea expects. he resents the prophecies or whatever. he thinks he can save lemuria in his own way

lemuria that btw fell to ruin specifically bc of his absence from it when Siren Song mc took his tail & scales (thats why he sung the elegy as he perished alongside her)

plus, you know, other humans

he gets reborn (who knows how again) into what we can call linkon raf, whos focused still on avenging his people and likely finding a way to revive lemuria while protecting its remains—a way that doesnt depend on what's now mc's heart, but she is a backup choice he may consider (though the sea wishes she were the first choice) (but like very to the very back of his brain, the last choice even, esp since he actively protects her actually) (where the fence between his thoughts and the sea's are)

probably something to do with the aether core ironically part of her heart will be what helps lemuria

somewhere in all this was also an mc who lived on an island alone ? (forgot where from!) and also an mc who might fr get her heart carved by some teen lemurian that's either a new raf somehow or someone connected (mentioned in an mc dream i also forgot which myth from, but probably forgotten sea? dream abt abysswalker-like era though) and i need to reread abysswalker before going on even longer for its mentions of tome stuff etc

UEUEUEUUEU hope this is okay! i must admit i was a little uwuwuawua on ideas for a lot of the characters </3 grr finding new songs to play on loop to get me into writing is hard; though currently antonymph by vylet pony is doing things to my brain

CAINE:

makes a huge deal of things whenever you dye your hair simply because he thinks what you do with yourself is cool; and since its the digital world you can get away with dying your hair as often as you want! cant damage what technically isnt real! probably makes hair color suggestions and is absolutely thrilled when you actually follow through within the coming days. prepare to have some weird combos, though... probably changes the color of his suit to match your hair... even adds stripes if your hair has stripes, or any other pattern dyed into it

POMNI:

honestly? more power to you, thats her reaction mostly. would pomni dye her own hair, or otherwise get anything to modify her appearance? probably not... but she thinks you look great with it... probably asks why you chose the current color you went with, as well as asking whenever you change. nothing like "oh WHY? why THAT color?" but like genuine non-rude curiosity... doesnt like outwardly betting or wondering what color youre going to pick outloud since she doesnt want you to think shes rude or something

RAGATHA:

has probably made multiple color variations of accessories she has made for you so you can wear anything without having the colors clash... thinks your hair is pretty, me thinks! doesnt matter what color it is, could literally be the unpleasant green-pink-brown color gradient meme and she would still find something nice to say about it... does sometimes wonder what color youre going to choose next... probably has a hush hush bet going on between her jax and zooble on what color youre going to choose next... huh what no jax didnt just get all moody because you walked in with aqua blue hair- no hes not passing something to ragatha, what are you talking about?

as mentioned above he makes bets with some of the other circus members on what color youre going to rock next... if you ask him for any suggestions on what color you should change to next, dont expect any serious answers. even if he is being serious, jax doesnt strike me as the type to care much about colors and shades so hes probably going to drop the most basic colors. ..

on a bad day he might just not recognize you for a short moment... i originally said that as a joke but considering he sometimes forgets gangle is literally standing right next to him, i dont... think thats much of a joke... but after the initial confusion, i think he would really like whatever color you choose! likes playing with your hair, if you let him! he finds it soothing in its own way, and now he just has pretty colors to look at! cant explain why but i feel like he would be very good at identifying colors, so if you come in rocking some new color hes going to ask if its (insert specific shade of red that no one knows the name of. like. amaranth red.. or something..)

You and your siblings were looking for your parents in a supermarket because they told you to finish eating first before going in to help them.

“Help me look for them Baps.” You said to your brother while you three were at the fruit section.

“Mom told us to get a watermelon.” Your sister said to you while looking at her phone.

“Ok lets go guys” You said dragging your siblings with you to get a watermelon.

“Ok guys-“ You were about to explain to your siblings until you bump into a shoulder.

“Oh” The person beside you said making you turn your head.

talking about minnie can be hard since she Really only exists in eps 3 and 4. eps 1 and 2 keep the twins pretty mysterious we only learn a few things about them. i think the most important thing we know about them tho is that they (or at least minnie) provided a sense of relief for the ericson kids. tenn saying how minnie would sing them "dont be afraid" when they were feeling scared. i think its safe to assume she wrote the song Specifically to have a way to make the other kids feel better when things were rough

when the twins die the kids lose this emotional support and we can tell its been hard on all of them (some more than others). but then in comes clementine. our girl whos been carrying the "light in the darkness" motif since season 1. and although she got that shit a little dirty in seasons 2 and 3 (ava going off in s3 about how clem and aj are light and hope and shit so we're still supposed to see it (and recognize that clem has become so Dark in s3 without aj)), she got her light back when she got aj back and she'll die protecting him

clem (and aj) fall very quickly into the hole the twins left. now its clem who makes them feel safe. first with finding them food then protecting them against the raiders ("youre our savior clem" "we were more scared than we let on when you met us. you made that go away"). its not an accident theyre put up in the twins room. and with the way violet grabs the frame and looks at it sadly we can even assume clem sleeps in minnies old bed (also the old torn down paintings seem to only be on ajs side of the room and hes got his whole "i wanna be an artist too" thing going on). clem has unintentionally taken on minnies old role of making the kids feel safe and reassured

then we finally meet minnie. and based on how the others described her there is definitely a piece of herself that shes lost (that shes killed). her light is gone now. and although her motivations have been warped, they remain the same. i do genuinely believe she is still trying to protect the ericson kids and do whats best for them, but just in the only way she thinks she can to stop more people from dying. she might even think the pros of living with the delta are worth the cons. clementine is the one teaching them to fight back but minnie knows from experience that fighting back just gets you killed, so she feels like if she can just stop clementine then everything will be fine ("youre the FUCKING problem here" "i wont let you get them all killed" and she does seem genuinely concerned if clem and vi are fighting in the cell. and obviously we know she doesnt want anything to happen to tenn). both minnie and clem want to protect the ericson kids they just have conflicting opinions about which is the right way to do it. but minnie Does show her ass when she ends her "if you just do what they say you can live" speech with "you can be rewarded just like i am" 👀 oh girl... she didnt just give up she gave in. killing sophie was her breaking point and i really wish we knew more about how that scene went down outside of lillys dramatic retelling i would like to see it objectively please. but based on the way lilly tells it, minnie (im sure begrudgingly) accepted her place at the delta before it even came to that, and was probably just pulled along by sophie when she tried to escape. which is probably why (im assuming) lilly gave her the choice to kill sophie to stay with the delta (her New family), and she did... she kills a piece of herself when she does this (only compounded by the twin imagery), and i think her seeing clem fight back reminds her of sophie and brings all those feelings to the surface. and if she can just kill clem everything will be ok, cuz it worked last time....

minnie singing "dont be afraid" when attacking them on the bridge. a song that once brought them peace now being used to herald death. but since she approaches already singing it she was probably singing it to soothe herself as she succumbs to her bite, walking away from the wreckage she blames on clem, her delta family dead (she Did care about them in a fucked up way), using a herd of walkers against them the same way clem used a herd of walkers to attack the boat. all minnie cares about at this point is finding tenn, and she does, and shes gonna take him with her. just like clem looking for aj, finding him, and taking him. but where clem would die to protect aj, minnie wants to kill tenn to take him "home" with her. add to this ajs feelings about ending up alone without clem and wanting to be walkers together if it came to it. this is why tenn dying on the bridge feels narratively fulfilling to me even tho i hate it 😭 tenn wants to be with minnie (and sophie and their parents) and death doesnt scare him. it kinda comforts him. him and minnie dying together here is like the dark fate clem and aj barely avoid

and then vi fitting into this as she became tenns caretaker after the twins left. she also wants whats best for him so her and minerva fighting at the end for tenn is interesting. especially since violet (and louis but he wasnt tenns caretaker the way vi was) can die throwing him over the gap. i like the layers violet adds to being in the bridge scene, and it makes it even more sad when she cant protect him because thats all shes been trying to do since before clem and aj even showed up. plus aj shooting tenn puts violet in a similar position to louis in regards to marlons death

i really love the ways violets route adds to all the minnie and tenn stuff. and the way we can see clems influence change her. how a saved violet is ready to fight with clem but a kidnapped violet believes in minnies goals and thinks giving up is the safest plan for everyone. because regardless if you save her or not violet ALSO wants to keep the ericson kids safe and just doesnt know the best way to do it. clem encourages violet to step up and minnie encourages violet to give up (warping her character growth which is why i cant Not save her 😭 and the betrayal of it all). using violet as a common denominator is another way to differentiate between clem and minnie. then throw the romance on top of that.... you can see why i get a little...Sillay.. this is ALSO why i dont like vinerva in any romantic capacity post the events of ep3 and why i love seeing vi with clem. its what they each encourage in her. minnies weakness, clems strength.... why seeing vi and minnie fight clem makes me want to cry but seeing clem and vi fight minnie makes me jump off the walls LETS GOOO

and i havent even talked about lilly yet.... how if lee took lilly up on her offer in S1 about stealing the RV together clem couldve ended up in her custody.... i definitely believe clem looks at minnie and sees some broken scared part of herself in there. she is Fiercely Loyal and would do anything for her family so if she was raised (or broken) in that environment (and it seems very "ends justify the means" with the delta as it sounds like its actually pretty good over there if you can look past the intimidation and torture and kidnapping) i could definitely see her being the one standing behind lilly in some other universe. its what lilly still tries to do with her but its too late (and so lilly tries it with aj instead which is still a way to get to clem). but clems grown now and shes been making her own choices for a long time. shes already been through this with the new frontier (and hell even with carver at howes). she'd die before she gave in. and minnie made the choice to kill her sister to save herself

even with the little info we actually have on minnie she still works pretty well as a foil to clem. this is why i find it easier to talk about minnie when comparing her to clem like i feel like its her main purpose. i feel like theres still more i could say its just eluding me. its not a coincidence that minnie almost takes clem down with her in the end. why shes the reason clems able to get bit. minnie blames clem for her own demise and she's gonna get in one last fuck you. and minnies fate is one clem is desperately trying to avoid. kinda 👀 to be taken down by your narrative foil

Philia's Scar Origin: Flashpoint! AU

part 1

There's actually two versions of this in my mind, though they both go the same way till a certain point. One is when Achilles is with her, and one is with Patroclus. So they're driving back home one night from a 3rd grade school event. Philia is used to Uncle Automedon or another Trusted Adult driving her places, but she really REALLY wanted one of her fathers to come this time 🥺 they're always so busy with work that they can't go to many things!

(the more complicated answer also is that the mob fathers kind of scare the civilians, who are aware of their reputation, so they recognize that they have to toe it a little bit to keep things 'normal' for Philia)

Anyway, they toss a coin, and the winner gets to go with Phi. So they're in the car, singing songs and talking about what happened, and everything is so happy, right?

And then a car slams into the side of them, towards the back end on the driver's side.

Now, the impact was bad enough that if Philia had been on that side of the car, it would have been it for her. Luckily, there were other things on that side.

They'll find out later that the impact was meant to blow up the oncoming car, thereby assassinating Achilles/Patroclus (and by proxy, his child. Was moreso collateral) in the explosion. They got lucky, in that the bomb was faulty so it didnt go off.

Anyway, so after the cars have swerved off the side of the road and crashed onto its side into a ditch, they check if they're alive. Wounds include bleeding cuts from the glass, some broken ribs and broken left arm, and a concussion. Their next instinct is to see if Philia is alive. All they can hear is sputtering and shocked gasps.

Philia is in the back, catatonic with horror, and her mouth is bleeding. Like blood all over her teeth, her chin, her shirt... It's bad. All they can do is scramble to wrench down the crunched seat (agonizing, through the broken arm) and try to pull her out. They look over her, realizing that while she's bruised and badly hurt, the cut blessedly doesn't go down into her neck. She'll survive it. The moment they can pull her into their arms, she starts to cry. And it's a wail of a sob, like true agony.

Now this is where the types diverge. Patroclus will hold Phi tight, rocking her until the paramedics (and Achilles) are there. He's in shock as they both get put into stretchers and flown to the nearest hospital. It isn't until they try to take an unconscious Philia away that he starts to bawl, and Achilles has to hold him tight until they sedate him.

As for Achilles, injuries be damned, the moment the paramedics show up to take Philia he's hurtling his body onto the other car, climbing on top and trying to stomp in the rest of the windshield to peel the unconscious man out of it and kill him (his car doors are mangled shut). His entire body screams with pain and he does not care. Patroclus has to pull him down and restrain him until he too breaks down.

Just know, that man and whoever hired him will experience torture on levels not even Achilles' own men have ever seen from the two men. People forget Patroclus is just as crazy and can be thirstier for blood, he so rarely shows that side of himself.

James had easily snuck into the slytherin common room even though he didn't necessarily need to sneak in because Regulus has given him the password, but he enjoyed the thrill of sneaking around unseen.

He crept up into the familiar dorm room that belonged to Regulus and his mates but stopped when he heard raised voices.

"..eah I tried banging shit around! No it didn't work!" He heard Barty yelling at presumably Evan.

James grinned, immediately recognizing what situation they were yelling about. He slipped the invisibility cloak off and jogged up the stairs, knocking twice before entering.

"What do you want- oh, hey James." Evan waved from the bathroom, a toothbrush stuck in his mouth.

"Hey Evan, Barty." James nodded. They hadn't meant for Barty and Evan to know about his and Regulus' relationship but had inevitably gotten caught and confessed.

Even though they hadn't planned for the two to know, it benefitted them alot with the two trouble makers knowing. One they were excellent at keeping secrets (especially from Sirius), two they could tell James the password if he needed it or be a distraction so he could slip in through the door.

Three it made James job of getting in and not waking the other two a whole lot easier because if someone was coming in at 12 am they knew it was James going over to Regulus' bed, probably to fuck.

"Is he still not awake?" James motioned to the lump that was Regulus, laying in his bed.

"Yes." Both Evan and Barty said, James snickered.

"Have you tried-"

"Before you ask anything, yes. We've tried everything." Barty sighed. "We've tried banging, we've tried threats, we've tried litterly dragging his arse out of bed but he just crawled back in." Evan nodded in the background.

"He knows he's gonna be late, right?" James smirked when the other two nodded again.

"If he doesn't I'm gonna kill him." Barty snarled.

"How could he not? We've practically screamed it at him for the past half an hour." Evan grumbled.

James thought for a moment. A story about Regulus that Sirius had told him a while ago popped into his head.

"Don't worry about him, I got it." James answered them after a minute or two of silence. The other two exchanged incredulous looks before shrugging.

"Alright mate, it's your funeral." Barty patted him on the shoulder. "Good luck." They chuckled before walking out, not wanting to be late to class themselves. It was already too late for breakfast which Regulus wasn't going to be pleased about. James swore Regulus was deadly before he'd had his coffee.

"Rise and shine, love." James said in a sing-song voice. "You're gonna be late for class if you don't get up now." The only reply he got was some grumbles from Regulus but no movement whatsoever.

James crawled into his bed, cuddling on top of him which was kind of defeating the purpose of getting him out of bed but James couldn't not take the offer to snuggle with him. Cuddly Regulus was a rare sight to see.

"If I ask nicely will you get up?" James practically pleaded. Regulus shook his head no, his messy hair fluffing up even more as he did. "Alright, you asked for this."

James moved his hands to squeeze Regulus' sides, a sharp squeal forcing its way out of his sleepy boyfriend. Reggie's hands immediately flew down to grab James' wrists and pull them away from his torso. Regulus squirmed away from James but didnt get far since James was laying on top of him.

"Do I hear some giggles?" James teased once he heard Regulus give in and let out some muffled giggles. He switched his tactic, not swirling fingers into his sides and belly which seemed to be getting more laughter and squirms out of him.

"Jahahames, st-stohop!" Regulus squeaked. James gasped in mock surprise.

"He's alive! Honestly, I thought I was just tickling a dead body for a second there."

"Just sto- James tHE RIBS ARE OFF LIMITS!" Regulus laughed into his pillow, his feet now kicking behind James as well. He pinched up and down Regulus' ribs, a sweet spot on James as well.

"Will you get up and out of bed if I stop?" James murmured into Regulus' ear as teasingly as he could.

"Yehehes!" He instantly stopped, rolling off of Regulus and standing up.

"I'm glad you said yes," James said as he watched grumpy Regulus look for his uniform, each piece of it scattered around the room, "because you've got ten minutes to get ready and be in transfiguration." He grinned at Regulus' shocked look before walking out with a wave.

"See you there!" He laughed.

fuck. i feel so fucking bad. i hate how i sometimes shut down and cant communicate my thoughts right away. and i cant really even vocalize that i need time either. i just lose my voice and freeze. i made the guy feel uncomfortable i think. like he said everything is fine but like. like . like. he is confused but like like like like like its not like i wasnt ever planning on elaborating bc im actually really good at communicating i just like. am weird sometimes. and i told him that. and all is well but i feel so bad that i literally just said nothing when he tried to talk to me about it. he wanted to sleep w me and i was okay w it at first bc i want it too but i was high for the first time after like 2 months and literally so disoriented and i freaked out like i barely even recognized him, i was THAT high. and then just froze and shriveled and said nothing and kept repeating that i dont know anymore and cant explain it rn. he stopped immediately the moment he noticed sth was off and asked if i was uncomfortable and/or afraid of him as in nervous. and he tried to talk abt it even when we werent high anymore and he blamed himself a lot which is so sad bc thats not it and then tried to like i guess move slower and said its ok if im not ready but the next 2 days we were together i literally just said nothing when he tried to make advances or talk abt why both of us acted awk and i like just acted like nothing happened but like still made moves on him and was okay with like other stuff just not like sleep-sleep w him. i kept sending mixed signals. i also was like so weird and quiet in general the entire time i was w him and i said i was in an odd mood and he pinky promised it wont affect anything and that he likes multidimensional people and its okay that im diff sometimes. i drank alcohol the entire time i was there too and fuck. idk im just. so fucking weird. he said its ok he is nervous and scared too and like i just fucking said nothing i dont know whats my fucking problem. fuck. like it was actually really fun too most of the time. we did graffiti and looked at the stars when we were lying down in this tower near like mmmm a big beautiful singing stage (???) and smoked his last lucky cigarette and did fun stuff on playgrounds at night and the moon and the clouds were so beautiful. the clouds were exactly like in suzume when the sky collapsed. then we cooked together, it was so fun to shop together and then we watched moomins and it was actually really nice. i picked him a nickname by opening a book on a certain page number and picking a word blindly. and he read me the little prince in french bc we both know french too and its a sentimental book to him. he sang me songs and played the guitar. he also surprised me by playing one of "our" songs and i literally started to cry. and he altered these lyrics in this one song so it applied to us and it was so sweet. i wear oversized clothes and he put my sweatshirt on and i had his jean jacket and bracelet on the entire time. he looked so nice in my hoodie and he didnt want to take it off and kept hugging it. i think probably bc it smells like me. i said i came from the moon, that they switched me when i was 5. he said he isnt even from this solar system. it was cute. made me not feel insane lol. its just like.. im a literal idiot sometimes. he was supposed to come to my place today and he asked if its okay if he comes tomorrow bc he is very confused and scattered and slow today and i think its bc of me and i feel so bad. like its okay he comes later but i intended on explaining what happened w me to him today and i just want to fix everything fast and i dont want him to feel bad and fuck. i fucking dont know. i asked him if he is confused bc of me but he hasnt answered yet. i feel so fucking bad. like all is well he said that a million times but i just want to fix everything now and immediately but not over texts....

tldr: my son chun tao she is so fucking ill

Honestly Passerine is THE Chun Tao song. To me. bc it fits really well with his religious guilt, but i also like to recontextualize the chorus to instead be him talking about eri. they were the one really pulling the weight during the early days of their friendship, and chun tao feels a lot of guilt for that

but first! the animatic! it centers around chun tao's guilt for eri being so sweet to him despite him being a stoic ass cold bitch. i actually color-picked the palette from the album cover of eurus (that passerine is from) and slapped on a noise filter to achieve that same grainy effect. it looks nice 2 me.

eri is represented in a distinguishing yellow, someone bright and unique to chun tao, while he himself is colored in the same white as all the other details in the background. While making him the same color as the lyrics helped establish they were His thoughts, him blending in w everything else while eri has their own unique color is his way of putting eri on a pedestal, viewing them as more important than he'll ever be. they're the monarch and he's just their prince consort. that's how he always thought of it.

i dont have much to say about these frames in particular but here are their corresponding parts in the study! theyre just meant to establish their relationship w one another before leading up to the next part, where he sees eri as this blinding light, but just cant let go of that one sign of weakness they had shown him during their wedding. a small glimpse of a them he didnt quite understand yet, and never made the effort to.

at some point, chun tao Snaps and berates eri for trying to get so close to him. at first i wasnt sure if his mindset made.. sense? but connecting the dots from earlier, it DOES make sense if you see it through the point of view that he sees eri as someone above him. chun tao isnt someone who deals with people and he's used to impersonal business relationships and he thought this would be another one of those which is why he's so shocked, caught off-guard, even offended at eri threatening his status quo. brother hates vulnerability, and it terrified him that someone was trying to get through his walls, so all he could do was lash out.

im not absolving eri of blame either though.. i think they still had some wrong in not immediately recognizing chun tao's boundaries. they were so eager to be her friend, they dont realize they might come across as overbearing. and they were, in a sense, but chun tao does also realize its unfair to them to take their innocent gestures of friendliness with so much malice. they just have conflicting ideas on the world, and it clashed, and no one's totally wrong but no one's totally right, they were just coming from their own places.

In here chun tao watches as eri reels back and apologizes for all the things she had shouted at them at. but it's also the same moment chun tao realizes that she does Not know much of anything about eri at all. it's very faint, but there's the outline of a sobbing younger eri staring straight at the screen, supposedly at chun tao, like a reminder of the eri she never got to meet herself. one that was hurting just like her. and that younger eri still resides in the one standing before her crying too, she just never got to see that side to them because she never bothered to figure that side to them out. (AND the "your" is intentionally written twice, like its referring to both eri in the present and eri in the past. by failing to understand them, chun tao feels like he's failing both eris.)

as mentioned earlier, chun tao gets mad at eri for having a "perfect life" and thinks theyd never understand her. but. the thing is. chun tao isnt LETTING them understand her. she keeps pushing them away. and she realizes it was presumptuous to assume they would understand her, because well. she.. doesnt even know what eri's Been through atp. she just assumed eri's life's been perfect because theyre so composed and chipper, but she didnt know who they were a couple years ago at all. she thinks that bc eri's secret relationship is lovey-dovey that their love is perfect, but chun tao didn't see their toxic yuri of a start and that they face a lot of problems as a couple too. chun tao thinks that bc eri is so well-loved by the public that thats that, but she remembers that people gossiped AND gossip hard about them bc of their status as a non-sorcerer. they were dehumanized and alienated by the public too, just like her. and this realization hits her HARD.

he then tries to make an effort to be more involved in eri's life after this point, reconciling with them and becoming their best friend. okay tbh the scene described in the character study is NOT the same as the one pictured in the animatic but i HAD to get a hug in there somewhere.

the last two scenes are a BIG flashforward to ursa's creation, where chun tao is panicking hard about eri literally dying to create their homunculus baby. also ursa is drawn in white but has eri's yellow present too, showing how he's a combination of them, their little kid :D

the whole lyric bit of "but i cant shake this feeling that i was only pushing the spear into your side, again and again and again" is supposed to represent chun tao feeling like a thorn on eri's side causing them pain. he scolded them for being nice to him, and they went on to sacrifice their life in a dangerous ritual to create their son and uphold tradition, but he just feels so so guilty for all of that. he cant shake the feeling that he's a source of their pain and suffering, and it eats him up alive.

ok ANYWAY moving on to the CHARACTER STUDY NOW!!!!!!!!!! just parallels and stuff w the writing

guys im a fucking feature writer of course im going to start and end with the same phrase ("chun tao is not a people peson, and his family knows this very well"). chun tao refers to two different families in the opening and closing segments: in the first he refers to his biological family, and in the second its about the family he found and made in quiro. both his families knows he struggles with social interactions, and his bio family (his cousins) make fun of him for it, so he goes on to detail how he views social interactions as a system, a formula he understands. his family in quiro instead tries to HELP him get better at it, and he instead recognizes that social interactions are something personal that require heart and genuine investment (shown in how he notes that ursa cares about him deeply), even moving past his frozen style of speech with the mention of jokes. tldr he's fucking cringefail at socializing and his bio family called him cringe but his chosen family said he's cringe but free. what

Perfect life/love/reputation. At first he hates eri for having these "perfect" things and thinks theyre sooo happy because of it, but later on realizes that their life isnt perfect and neither is his, but he finds joy in what he has anyway :)

the repeated mention of chun tao saying he'd never fall in love with eri bc he's so stuck in his rigid view of romance, but later comes to love eri as his best friend AND love his found family too :'3

chun tao wondering earlier if she should try to emulate eri's pleasantries, and ends up doing so later down the line! both lines have the same structure with the "quick greeting + smile despite being tired"

"Ahia" is Chinese for the eldest brother and it's also used to refer to children to know their birth order. Chun Tao calling Ursa this is an acknowledgement of him going to be a big brother soon! tbh in my head thats what the meeting eri called for is about but its just my headcanon (<== SAID THE ONE WRITING THE STORY)

ALSO i dont have screenshots to show but eri is only intentionally mentioned by name in the flashforward, to show how back then chun tao only saw them as THE princess/monarch but eventually comes to recognize them as eri, his bestie :3

“If you think its so easy being me, then you try it for a day!” Arelle yelled at her twin sister Kale. “You’re always treating every day as if tomorrow doesnt matter, that no matter what you do wont have consequences.” 

Kale scoffed as she strummed her lute, losing her train of thought with the song she was writing. “Everything I do is wrong no matter what I do. So yeah, maybe I dont care about the consequences if I’m always in trouble.” 

“You impersonated me during training!” 

“It was a joke!” Kale stood up, her tail swinging around for a moment as she put her lute on her back. “I didnt hurt anyone.” 

“You nearly got me expelled from training!” Arelle glared at Kale. “There’s a chance I wont be able to be a guard now because of you!” 

Kale rolled her eyes and practically danced around the garden as she hopped from rock to rock. “Why would you want to be a stuffy old guard anyway? All they do is sit around and yell at people. ‘No singing in the town square. No magic at the inn. Leave the ale alone in the tavern. You better not be pulling fish out of the streams!’” She sat down and sighed. “But you get to do whatever you want. The pride of this village. No one ever gets angry at you.” 

“If you think its that easy, then you be me for a day!” 

Kale paused as the world around her and Arelle seemed to stop as the mirror-like pond started to glow around them. She moved away from the way from the water, eyes glued to it as a soft voice spoke through the wind. 

“*Arguens sororibus opus est ut expendas in die inter se est scriptor calceamenta.*” 

A flash of light blinded Kale for a brief moment as she stumbled in her step, hesitating when she felt leather gloves around her fingers… and then the feeling of a missing tail. She looked over the pinkish tan skin on her arm and reached for the glaive on her back. 

“What the hell did you do, Kale?!” 

Kale stumbled back as a puff of smoke left her fingers… Arelle’s fingers? She shook her head, trying to wrap her mind around what happened. “I didnt do anything! And will you please calm down? My… your magic isnt exactly… stable.” 

Arelle growled a bit. “Just give me back my body!” 

“I’m not thrilled to be you either.” Kale grabbed the glaive from off her back and twirled it around for a moment before dropping it, wincing as she heard it clatter against the rocks. “Besides, maybe it’ll be good for us to see what life is like for the other. You did say that I have no idea what its like to be you.” 

“Alright, fine, we be each other, and then what? How do we switch back?” 

“I… have no idea…” Kale picked the glaive up from off the ground and paused when she saw Arelle’s reflection looking back at her. Her smile faded as she looked over her human features, feeling like she couldnt recognize herself anymore. “I’ll find a way for us to switch back, but until then, let me make this up to you and live your life while we’re stuck like this. You said things arent so easy for you, then let me see it.” 

“Kale-” 

“You get to sit back and relax. Until we… I find a way to fix this, you dont have to worry about training or responsibility, just taking it easy and seeing how my life is.” 

Arelle sighed and pulled Kale’s lute off her back, finger picking at the strings for a moment. “How sure are you that you can fix this?” 

“Not very… but that doesnt mean I wont try!” 

“Fine. But if you screw anything up for me-” 

“I promise, I wont mess things up again.” Kale paused and looked up at the sun. “Though… you may want to start making your way to Lord Bunterton’s.” 

“Why?” 

Kale looked away and blushed. “His son requested a… private concert.” 

“Kale-” 

“Just make sure to keep him happy!” Kale yelled as she ran out of the garden. “You can do that, right?” 

“Kale, get back here!” Arelle yelled after Kale, chasing after and nearly tripping over her tail. “You know I dont know how to play music!”
