Art Summary 2023!

This year was kind of a struggle art-wise (read: burnout) but I'm glad I stuck it out because I got to spend a solid 8 months drawing all the fanart I didn't have time for last year :D

Thanks to everyone for sticking around, and here’s to another year of art!

(September 2023) Vibro-swords

"Finished" this a while ago, but never posted it because I subsequently made a design change to sorXa's sword that will require me to go back and redo all the digital parts of this. Oops

Edit: Turns out I didn't have to redo anything, because the chalk 01 brush in GNU IMP is actually pretty decent at imitating pencil! I wouldn't use it for anything complex, but for adding a few straight lines it's good enough.

Galaxy Cup is actually really good overall

I said back when the arc first finished that it was just as bad as the previous arc up until Kuaidul's introduction.

...yeah, no I don't think that's accurate to my feelings anymore. I didn't really remember the arc much differently, most of it felt very familiar rewatching it, I think I was honestly just in a bad fucking mood during nearly every episode of this arc before episode 74.

I was so burnt out by the amount of bad writing choices and overabundance of Sevens fanservice hijacking the plot in the previous arc that even though the darkness cards plot was inherently cool, I couldn't get invested in it because I just assumed the mastermind was going to be Otes and as a result, didn't care.

Rewatching this arc and KNOWING that the mastermind is actually this amazing new character pulling the strings enhanced the arc tenfold, especially the duels involving the darkness cards.

Kuaidul, and the foreshadowing and build up to him, is undeniably the best part of the arc. The final three episodes of this arc pop off so hard and are just peak Yugioh. As stated previously,

Plus, I absolutely adore the setup of the other characters having to defeat the protagonist who is playing right into the villain's hands without the villain even having to do anything. That is so cool and unique and amazing and HAVE I MENTIONED HOW MUCH I LOVE KUAIUDL?! HE'S A SASSY PUPPETMASTER WITH A HAND IN EVERYTHING AND AH HE'S SO DAMN COOL! :D

Um... So anyways, the rest of the arc is uh... it's pretty good. I kind of like Zaion now. He's funny. But let's be real for a moment: he was just a filler villain to tide us over before Kuaidul. Zaion was a tiny lil mozzarella stick tossed to us to make us shut up while we wait for our Kuaidul pizza. And while Zaion was a nice little enjoyable mozzarella stick, he did still feel like a distraction that... honestly still hasn't amounted to much, at least in the grand scheme of things. I dunno, the current upcoming episode at the time of writing this (A Clockwork Zaion) could change that but at the current moment, his presence in Galaxy Cup felt like a distraction and... messed with the pacing and focus of the arc a bit.

The big problem with this arc in general is that it was pretty aimless and all over the place before Kuaidul graced us with his presence. Before that... only one character gets properly taken over by a darkness card (Yuamu), which is supposed to the A plot, because the plot has to balance screentime with Zaion's furniture excursion, Yudias training Epoch, Manabu having my most hated episode in the show (again, not bothering to go into detail, we all know why it's bad) and then the fallout, Epoch learning that cheating is bad- oh wait, she never actually learned that because the arc was balancing too many plots at once and Epoch went right back to cheating in Spacetime. Ha ha oops. I don't dislike Epoch for this like I used to. She is just a kid and has other qualities that do make her a likeable character despite this but... the cheating thing really needs to be addressed.

This arc spent so much time introducing more and more subplots before the finals that to this day, it's left a lot of things unaddressed for way too long. Tremolo and co. are currently STILL FURNITURE and this arc ended in SEPTEMBER. There's just... too much going on this arc and it makes the episodes feel disjointed. That being said, the stuff that's going on is all good (except the Manabu thing). Yudias mentoring Epoch is really cute and Zaion is a funny ridiculous mozzarella stick of a villain. Most of the parts are good. They just don't completely mesh at times and makes the pacing a bit of a mess.

Seriously, Yudias getting into Galaxy Cup (something that's crucial for the finale of the arc to happen) felt so rushed and out of nowhere, as though the creators ran out of episodes to have him naturally get into the tournament with. However, I can ultimately forgive that as what it lead to was good. This arc is disjointed but apart from two episodes (the Manabu and Mitsuko ones), it's overall enjoyable and the payoff is well worth it. It definitely put Go Rush back on the right track, even if some of the problems from the last arc unfortunately carried over into this arc.

February: i drew something! i love Champ even if i haven't drawn anything tf2 related since April. i think it was this piece where i decided to give Champ RED coloring. [link]

March: uhhhh. more of my tf2 ocs but i think those aren't that interesting. just go to my tf2 oc blog @brokenbrainstormbulb if you wanna see them honestly, i have an image limit to keep ffs. that said, this was around the time i got into TC2, so i drew a lot of that kind of stuff... i'm never drawing stuff for it ever again, sorry. April: look at the cool thing i drew for a fellow tf2 robot fan! now, this is the point in time where i start drawing more because of a certain interest, so look forward to all the art that'll come up here.....

May: wow, this really was my first public piece of Papa Louie art, huh. i was so proud of it when i showed it off on tumblr the first time... i don't like it as much anymore. for one, the office wall color is wrong.... i still can't believe Papa Louie was what got me out of art block, but god, i'm glad it did. i don't think i've drawn this much before, and even though the community's tiny, i'm glad to give back as much as i can. anyways, i said something like "it's so funny that people think they're either super married or divorced as hell" on the same post. i still think that, and it's defos funny as hell, but i've grown a kind of appreciation towards the ship as well. like yeah, you go girls, we love that extra slow burn with so many road bumps on the way! June: how the hell did i pump this out. this was also like a few days before i had to leave for the airport too... i don't know myself sometimes. i swear i still love Boigashipping! i just... i'm just busy with other ships okkkk [link]

July: i didn't draw anything...? i was in Bali. and i was busy selling adopt designs to draw anything substantial, oopsie! actually, i DID draw the first part of WDB... it's uh, still the only part. i'm sorry!!!! i'm sorry!!!! i swear i have the whole thing outlined!!! can you just give me anons about the story instead so you won't have to wonder what comes next!! August: TOSI fixation. it had not gone past it's conceptual stage, i must note. i do wish i would do something about it though. [link]

September: the art trade i did with my friend! actually, i was a few weeks late with my part, so it was supposed to be finished by August. oops. i like the textures tbh. my Chuseok drawings.... i need to draw more characters in hanbok, hee hee. [link]

October: (breaths in) ...this is the month i finally gave into the JoGotcha wantings. LOOK. ever since someone put the idea into my brain i couldn't get enough of it, and like,, nobody draws the ship anymore so i had to take matters into my own hands. this is the first ship i'm this obsessed with. i usually leave ship stuff to other people but this time that wasn't enough and i... i had to do SOMETHING, y'know? Cringetober? who's that? haha;; i stopped feeling like doing the whole list after less than a week. impressive.

November: oh look, Plushy Power League. Quinn didn't win, but i do like the thing i drew as propaganda, so whateves. the first Papa Louie character i ever drew (minus Chuck and Taylor)... did i change how i draw her? uhh. maybe? i'm not too sure. [link]

also look! the keychain drawing... i need to talk about my Gods and Monsters au again at some point. actually, since i last uploaded the image of my keychain, i revised it tons... it's kinda different now, and i defos think it looks better. this is actually the time i finally fixed the stupid display setting thing that was really messing up my coloring! December: ...oops! tablet broke. and i got my 3ds back so i just didn't draw that much even after exams were over. didn't stop me from drawing though, and in fact i think i made something pretty neat with my christmas art.... even if it did come one day late. [link]

wow. that's a whole year of stuff... and that's defos a lot! i think i'm really happy with what i drew this year.... i don't know what was in my water the last few years but my art highlights felt really.... miserable? for some reason. i mean, yeah, i didn't do a lot of what i had planned (GOE ANIMATIC IM SORRY) but i can see that i've done just as much with my hands anyways, so like, who cares? plus, i always have next year... that's coming in 3 hours, oh god- so, maybe i won't be too hard on myself for not fulfilling my goals... like, i kinda glossed over it, but i did sell my designs for money, and that's like, really impressive! so many people around me buy and sell their art stuff already, so i guess i didn't really register it as something to be proud of... but doing that shit (making, and marketing) is hard!! so like, it's a wow moment for me!

anyways, i'm tired, i only came back home a few hours ago, and i need to get up again for church in a few hours.... mrphgdjd. lets stop being sentimental, and i'll see you people next year. that's a long way off! hope you don't miss me.

.:2021 Art Summary:.

Ngl, I completely forgot I drew some of these this year FTGYHUJN 2021 Felt like three years in one, but it also feels weird that it's already over, ah well. I forgot to put my name on this but that doesn't rlly matter.

January I was actually planning on making this into a speedpaint, but I kept putting it off... and then I had to factory reset my PC, and lost the recording, oops. I don't rlly have anything to say about the picture itself, it's still good, all of the outfits are based on various things I drew Seb in before, I drew the entire thing while listening to Neil Cicierega.

February I apparently didn't post this one here? Weird, could've sworn I did. Anyways, I like this one too, though I don't rlly like the texture in the shading much anymore. The background is actually based on the way NomNomNami does hers, I might try doing it again some day tfygh.

March Another thing I didn't post here oops. This one's ok, still don't like that shading much, but otherwise it's cute. I don't remember anything particularly interesting about this one, other than the entire reason I drew it was bc I don't draw these two characters very often. OH, I did get a new tablet a short while after making this! and XP Pen... one of those fancy screen tablets.... I have never mentioned this to anyone.

April This started off as just a random doodle I decided to clean up and finish. I really like this one, it's so soft and round.... Also weirdly enough, after drawing this I realized I really like watermelon flavored stuff.

May This wasn't originally my pick for the May slot, but then one I did want to put here didn't fit, so I went with pink Fafnir instead. That's fine though, pink Fafnir is still good, I like the clouds in this one... Shoutout to ~Positive⭐Dance Time~

June Most of this month was taken by me drawing refs for characters, and drawing other people's characters for trades on TH. I had a few not ref pieces, but I like this one the best :3c I didn't like the shading when I first made it, but looking at it now I think it's really nice tbh.

July This month was also taken up mostly by character refs and other for other people, but this piece was honestly the highlight of the month for me.... I like it a lot, I think it's one of the best things I've drawn honestly. It makes me really happy <:3

August Speaking of things that make me happy, cats. I rlly like cat people man, they make me so happy trgfed That's the entire reason I drew this, entirely self indulgent, and I still love it TFGYBHUJ I'll have more cat people art in the future...

September This picture was actually originally based on a screenshot from I believe AC Pocket Camp, though I can't find the original image anymore. Anyways, this one's also still very good, I like drawing the food; and Yamilla's expression is a mood.

October Tbh I was torn on two different pics for this spot, with very different tones, but I decided to go with this one bc.... Idk, I just wanted to, anyways Stella is good and I rlly wanna try a ChupaChups Sparkling Water one day Shoutout to Shadow Shadow

November Tbh there's actually a pic in November that I liked more than this, but it's uh.... not Tumblr friendly, so I'm not putting it here RFTGVH This one's still good though! I actually originally sketched it in pencil before finishing it on comp.

December This picture's not super interesting, but it's special bc it's the first pic I did in a while for a speedpaint! Bc I rlly wanted to make speedpaints again after having not done that in like... almost a year? I think? So yeah, Helena says hi.

I've just realised I don't actually know what timezone you're in? I'm GMT, UK so it's almost 9am here. It's freaking sweltering! I live in a flat and we seem to get no air up here 🥵 BUT we're in the process of buying a house so hopefully we'll be moving in September all being well 🤞

I'm 32 in September and I definitely haven't accepted that I'm in even in my 30's 😂

Thank you 😳 he's honestly the sweetest little boy! He turns 3 soon and I can't believe it! His favourite things are lining up his blocks or organising them by colour.

I am SO behind on the Shadowhunter books! The last ones I read were The Dark Artifices and there are so many more now! I definitely want to catch up though. And also I'm tempted to rewatch Shadowhunters...my main complaint about the show is that they did Ragnor dirty 😒 was not impressed! How caught up are you with the books?? Maybe we'll both renew a hyperfixation 🤣

Earlier this year I was reading EVERYTHING, I lived at the library and devoured so many books. But then I suddenly couldn't get into anything and anything I did manage to read was disappointing. I've just finished rewatching all of Gilmore Girls, I'm now on the last episode of A Year In The Life which has it's faults and is less of a vibe but still good. I need to find something else to watch once I'm finished! Any suggestions, I've just got Netflix!

I'm currently working on part 3 of my series. It's called Happy Birthday and is very fluffy 😂 I've got a few more in the works that I'm excited to write, even a smutty one which I'm nervous about as I've never written smut before!

My novel is a full on thing. I've written out the plan entirely but actually sitting down and writing is a whole thing. It's basically a love story, grumpy x sunshine vibes set mostly in a B&B by the seaside. It's a slowburn with some long distance elements while they get to know each other and fall in love. There's also a mismatched cast of other B&B visitors with their own little stories 😂 I'm excited to write it but it's a lot!

32 isn’t old, so don’t even worry yourself with that 😊 Your kid sounds like me, I did that throughout my childhood into my adulthood and mum just went “aw that’s quirky,” but even after getting diagnosed she just thinks it’s for fun rather than because my brain needs things in certain ways, ugh.

The last ones I read were either the throwback ones in London (idk what they’re called, I could google them or even just look at my shelf next to me but I cba!!) or the City of Fallen Angels, I can’t remember. I have literally every book in the collection except one, but I need to read the rest oops? How did the show do Ragnor dirty?

Idk how we can binge read like every Eddie fanfic ever but the thought of picking up a book is just too much effort right now, we are broken by his grip hahahh. I normally read fantasy things cause I don’t wanna be thinking about the real world for longer than I have to, oops?

I’ll have to think of something to suggest for you on Netflix, I’m more of a Disney+ person myself but I always rewatch the same handful of shows tbh..

I’m excited to read this!! Good luck writing the smut, I cringe whenever I write it cause it just doesn’t feel natural to me. So I end up speeding through it and focusing more on the fluff cause I can’t be dealing with the cringe language people use for sex stuff.

Grumpy x sunshine vibes are a staple, that’s so great!! Can’t get enough grumpy and sunshine couples in stories, they are just so stinking cute ☹ good luck with your book, I hope you have a blast writing it!
