y'know what we don't talk about enough? Hazel died. We talk about how she grew up in the 30's and 40's and we talk about how out of place she feels in the modern world, but! She died! She was dead! She has spent more time dead than alive, and not by a close margin!

How does that effect a person??? We got some of it in the flashbacks, but once those caught up with her present timeline and she shared them, they just kind of... disappeared. And she was a regular girl with some weird past experiences. That's one way of doing it, sure!

I think it would have been a lot cooler if she was just a touch creepier. If she felt a little bit Wrong. Yeah, in general she's more approachable than her brother, she's more sociable and less closed off, but. If you actually spend any time with her, it can be difficult to tell which child of the underworld is actually more unsettling.

Hazel is bright of personality and has a dazzling smile, but sometimes she'll just... shut down. She'll go completely blank for like half an hour and nobody knows what to do with it. Sometimes she forgets she's alive. Sometimes she'll spout the grimmest shit you've ever heard like it's nothing, she won't even notice it's weird until the room goes quiet. She spent decades in Asphodel, which is designed to make people forget about themselves and wander around for eternity, only she didn't have the luxury of forgetting! Wild! After she comes back to life, sometimes she forgets that she's allowed to Do Stuff now. She can spend so long sitting and staring at nothing. Sometimes she'll start crying on cloudless days because it hits her again that she can actually feel the warmth of the sun on her skin and she can hear birdsong. Every little mundane experience is a blessing and she will make you remember that in the most foreboding way possible.

I don’t understand people who say “Vegeta should’ve gotten ssj2 after Cell killed Trunks”

Like legitimately

Do you know how fucking lame that would’ve made ssj2 look? We have years and years of hindsight to see just how cool and how much of an upgrade ssj2 was, but that’s ONLY because Gohan was the only one to unlock it in the Cell saga. If Vegeta got ssj2 like, 5 episodes after Gohan, it would’ve thrown literally ALL of Gohan’s development and Goku’s foreshadowing in the trash. Ssj2 is supposed to be unique to Gohan, in the same way ssj was unique to Goku. Sure, other people achieved it in later arcs, but the arc that had the first transformation and the person involved in said transformation will always be the one associated with the form.

To have two characters achieve the same fabled form in the same arc would be wildly anticlimactic. It’s like saying Gohan should’ve gone SSJ on Namek after Piccolo got shot and after Krillin died. Like ya, that could’ve been something that happened, and it makes sense since Piccolo and Krillin protected and helped raise him, but that would literally destroy all the buildup Toriyama had for SSJ.

And then there are the people that say Vegeta “deserved” ssj2

NO HE DID NOT.

He was an asshole who nearly got everyone killed for his own pride up until the cell games😭. He doesn’t just randomly deserve to get a power up because he decided to finally care about his son as he dies. Now, did he deserve to do some damage to Cell? Absolutely, especially because he acknowledged the fact that he had been ignoring Trunks until he died, and apologized to Gohan for getting his arm hurt. And that’s why his final blow to Cell giving Gohan an opening to kill him is a perfectly fine conclusion. But Vegeta did not deserve to get ssj2. This isn’t buu saga or super Vegeta we’re talking about. He was a complete and utter jerk until Goku and Trunks died.

(I also saw ppl get mad at Krillin for yelling at Vegeta for attacking cell. Which is odd because that’s a huge trope subversion for dragon ball. Usually the characters cheer another character on after a rage boost and expect them to win. But Krillin knew exactly how strong Cell was and he knew whatever Vegeta tried to do would only make it worse for everyone else. WHICH IT DID BTW. IT WAS VEGETA’S FAULT GOHAN’S ARM GOT FUCKED)

There's something I love about the new Consequences AU and how it compares to the AUs and music it's come from.

Where things like Roxy's old kingdom being destroyed and her being almost drowned as a baby are metaphorical, there's a lot of things that strangely aren't. Roxy specifically denying the gods and the powers that be is something she does in most of my interpretations of her. The gods in most situations, isn't a spooky green rabbit, it's the people in the Fazbear boardroom making the world's worst decisions ever. To the animatronics, they are the gods. There's no higher authority than them, and they can have them destroyed without ever having met them, at just a moment's notice, for seemingly no reason.

Bonnie once believing in the gods and turning against them works like it does for most of the animatronics too. Even just questioning Fazbear isn't something many of them have been able to do, but all of them will eventually learn to. The more they learn through Roxy, despite what they might have known before, the more they realise what kind of company they've been forced to be a part of.

And Roxy's attitude towards these gods is always the same. She won't pretend to be nice to people she knows don't care about her. She won't put any extra effort into maintaining social etiquette if there's no point, if there's nothing for her to gain from it. Fazbear CEOs and board members have hurt her so much already, she doesn't give a flying shit about them, she's not wasting her time on them unless she absolutely has to. In this universe, the same can be said about the gods. She doesn't care for them and they don't care about her, so why bother? They've told like six people to assassinate her already, why would she choose to listen to them?

Roxy's relationship with the Minis and DJ? That's the same as it is across the board with most of the AUs I have. The attempt on Roxy's life when she's barely been born is shown differently in the new AU, but is still the same concept. Some things have been shifted around, such as the specific motivations, but not by a lot. I suppose Bonnie's dad in this fills the roll of Vanessa if Vanessa was also actually Mimic? He doesn't have an exact match here in terms of scale, but the comparisons are there.

The whole kingdom being destroyed, Roxy finding out that that's where she originally came from, that she was the newborn prince with a wholeass family she's never known, all lines up so well with everything else too. The pizzeria, scrapped storage, the old attractions there before her racetrack, it's all gone and she knew nothing about it. She's once again found out the truth in possibly the worst way imagineable, and she doesn't know what to do with this information, but honestly, who would?

The biggest difference there is that in this new AU, Roxy has the choice of what to do. In what's basically canon to the game, Roxy doesn't have that choice and likely never will. Where she's had to sacrifice her Raceway and Salon, sacrifice the vast majority of her life and her purpose for the safety of everyone around her, in this universe, she can choose not to. She sacrifices certainty this time, something she can regain as time goes on but in any other universe, there is never any certainty to get back. There will always be a Mimic threat and she can't get any of her old life back until it's dead and gone. She has to pay a price to keep Mimic contained, and while the Afton/Glitchtrap gods scramble to convince her otherwise, the Roxy in this new AU does have the choice whether she pays it or not.

But she will always still have to deal with the consequences of those with power. Every single time. And every single time so far, her entire existence is the consequence for them. Her life overall has not been the result of her own choices, but rather, the choices of people that never cared about her to begin with...

At least in this new universe she has a good childhood to fall back on and a cool ass horsie. And can actually do something about this shit. She can't normally do that :(

Feel like one of the best ways you can convince someone that no, villains with compelling motives that have sad backstories are not terrible writing compared to straight up born evil villains who just want to kill everyone and be done with it, is to tell them that Warrior Cats writes born evil villains constantly while literally preaching “That’s how evil works, you can’t CHANGE, you’re either touched by demons at birth or you aren’t!” and it blows chunks
