Yeah! They do usually. NotN is a rough time but I've been able to keep my egg funds pretty stable.

Usually when I price a -really nice- hatch at 5kg+ they sell.

Anything that I price under that tends to be a pain to sell unless it's extremely underpriced. but i don't like to go under egg price ngl. I will, but i don't like to.

But I did just sell that fern/cantaloupe XYY for 1.3kg so like... that's nice. (more eggs)

Also art! I will toss art onto dragons and that can bump up their sales potential.

If you can't do art, vague lore works too. Something people don't have to alter too much to get to fit.

Or like if not lore, outline the vibes and personality they give off and a scry or two to prove that point.

I am also a very casual player. No coli, just dailies, dragon sales, eggs, dragon sales, dailies, eggs repeat. I tried some coli recently, for notn, and nope.

First egg hatched! Steel/green/ultramarine. This colour combo could be quite pretty if the tertiary gene weren’t gembond. I happened to only have gembond dragons in colours that work really nicely with gembond so I did not realise how ugly it can be. I have a scales gene that I haven’t been able to get rid of on the auction house hanging around so I may re-gene pyrite just to see if it makes future failed hatchlings more attractive.

Uh ok do you want to calm down?? If I check the AH, XYY’s are around the same price as ice eggs if the colours are bad. I was planning on keeping her but she may actually help fund a project... better check the scries, even Flamecaller can’t help an XYY if the colours are bad.

Comments: This lovely lady came up in a saved search I’ve been running for a while, keeping an eye out for a potential new mate for Moneypit. While I’d have preferred an imperial, she was otherwise almost perfect... but it also wasn’t going to be very much longer until Bryn and Bryan, a pair I put together in hopes of breeding an imperial mate for Moneypit, were due to go on the nest again. So I decided to buy her and stick her in my “Needs Something” tab while I waited to see if they might breed a better candidate.

Sadly, while they did produce an imperial female with a colour I’d have been willing to consider, it was at the very end of the range of colours I was willing to accept. Plus she’d have needed two gem genes (primary and tertiary) to finish up. Nummus, on the other hand, was almost at the optimum colour I’d wanted (just 2 off from it) and while she needed a breed change, I still had a spare scroll for nocturne in my horde, and beyond that she only needed her tertiary fixed.

I just hatched an egg on a whim, arcane egg this one. Not only did I get my first guardian G1 that I’ve ever hatched (I do have a guardian G1, but I was gifted her (praise cedric)) but he also has a great colour scheme, all blues, and he’s XYY! I’ve hatched a lot of near doubles in my time, but this is a first. I am very happy right now hehe.

If anyone wants to help me scry him, he’s 35439317. I’m fine with everything except imperial, of course.

Player: Why would you keep a hatchling that hatches from your nest?

Me: It takes 5 days just to hatch an egg (with the exception of Unhatched Eggs) and then you have to wait weeks for it go be able to breed again. If you had to constantly check up on your XYZ pair that will breed a random hatchling anytime instead of an XXX, XYY, etc. which will give you the same colors but not the same genes and maybe different eye type the odds of getting that dragon again are 0 unless the parents are the same in genes AND colors (which my pairs aren't nor would I want them to be unless project since I don't sell dragons and I would get constantly tired of getting the same colors [gosh even breeding for Orchid/Mauve/Rose was tiring])

And that's not even counting Breeding Cooldowns. You want another Coatl/Wildclaw to breed again? Try again next month since those things have a cooldown of 35 days meanwhile the 'starter breeds' (Mirrors/Tundras/Guardians/Faes) can breed 2 times in the time it takes a coatl/wildclaw to breed again.

Add the fact that some of my pairs are mixed species the odds are even lower to get it again unless the color range in either of them is so low a range that the probability of getting it again is possible.

I don't know about you but I don't like having to log in, to incubate the nest until it hatches on day 5 only for the results to either be the same or not good and usually I am tempted to keep all my hatches but lair space issue.

So if I have to prevent myself from overfilling my lair I can only keep 1. With Den even if I did breed for a year I estimate around 50-80 hatches would be keepers and even then I have enough space to last maybe 2-3 years.

Also it's not like I haven't hatched a nest where I exalted them all because the results were not to my taste.

Some Special Dragons, Part 1

When I started playing FR, I knew that gen one dragons are seen as special by a lot of players, so I planned to hatch at least one egg of each element and not exalt the dragon afterwards, no matter how ugly they might be. I can’t quite remember why exactly I wanted to do that, the idea just seemed neat to me, I guess.

Anyway, these are my dragons:

Sanguine: The very first dragon I got from an unhatched egg. Wind flight representative. Likes to party hard.

Othlahbeyn: Thinks that his parents abandoned him when he was still in his egg. Tiny, bitter fae. Wants to seek revenge.

Rathyahbo: One of my two coli trainers. Very skinny, a bit jumpy (especially for a trainer), but contains great magical powers.

Raanevenaar: Their name is a palindrome. I did not notice that when I named them. Healer and overall talented mage. XYY colour scheme!

Glückskind: Hatched on Friday 13. Is under the impression that this is a lucky day. Very clumsy, often gets in the way of other dragons, but really good at finding valuables.
