How I feel about this character

My underrated fave for fairly shallow reasons, because in canon Diarmuid is a very shallow character...but he is gay by mechanical oversight! (This also applies to Tristan.) I've decided to continue giving him all my CYL votes even though this year there's the possibility for Eikþyrnir to get rallied into the top two as a horny OC in the vein of Gullveig two years ago. Even if Eik has a serious chance of winning, he's not that great in terms of fanservice...and I really want Diarmuid to show up on a Thracia banner soon.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Tristan, to the point that I wrote a lengthy headcanon/meta getting the two together even though they can't exist in the same save file. Even better, literally the only Diarmuid/Tristan fic on AO3 very likely indirectly cites those meta posts as inspiration.

Outside of crack fic with his own substitute, I could see Lester and/or Scáthach since they all grew up together and so are already close. Oifey too if you want to dip into the mentorship/daddy kink angle...because House Nordion is nothing if not consistently weird.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Diarmuid is probably close to his mother after he rescues her in the postgame (it happens in a manga, I believe). I headcanon that he repatriates Nordion territory to give Lachesis a quiet place to retire.

My unpopular opinion about this character

That he has the potential to not be boring, maybe? Ditto Tristan, although he's also got the whole being-a-sub thing working against him in terms of popularity.

One thing I wish would happen / have happened with this character in canon

Not giving him any standard love growth or conversations, that's for sure. Obviously I'd like to see some gay content in a Genealogy remake, and Gen 2 has more room to work with that because there's no baby-making. So that, essentially.

And also him showing up in Heroes, as mentioned. He's the only missing member of House Nordion and the only character playable in both FE4 and FE5 to still not be in the mobile game, come on!
