Watching TXF after finishing S1 of Tremontaine has been very difficult because obviously Gillian Anderson is Diane, and I’ve spent 13 episodes thinking of her as Diane and imagining her as Diane AND now she’s Scully and it’s just really funny to me.

In the world of Tremontaine you can be anyone, who will you be?

                                    Fiala: explorer/ herbalist

A daughter of a noble family from the east of the continent did not find the prospect of marriage to her liking. Eager to learn from the early age and showing intelligence beyond the lessons of etiquette, she was schooled by her aunt who shared with her the knowledge of plants and its medicinal applications. Fiala left home, with the help of her aunt and the disappointment of her parents, and travelled the continent studying various plants and its possible uses. She was brought to The City by the promise of further knowledge.

She makes her living by using her skills for healing purposes. The men call her a “witch”, which amuses her greatly, but she does not mind because it keeps them away from her. She can’t turn them into vermin (as rumour has it), but she can poison them in less than ten seconds. She always carries a dagger soaked in poison for protection. Some of more superstitious women visit her seeking love potions and such; she does not send them away, but instead offers a sympathetic ear, and more than often, a tender embrace. Many women managed to forget their hearts’ troubles after a night with Fiala.

Her dream is to pursue studies at the University where she could combine her ancient knowledge with modern medicine. She knows it won’t be easy, being a woman, but she had learned of a woman becoming a Duchess in her own name. Perhaps she could offer her a helping hand. Or more.

#TremonTEAM Challenge 1: A Meal Fit For a Duchess

So this is kind of super late given that we’ve been issued with Week 2′s challenge already, but my brain is finally being forgiving and letting me get creative, so I’m playing a bit of catchup. Here was the prompt for Week 1′s challenge:

Food! Glorious food!

OK, so. Knowing what I know about the Duchess and what/how she likes to eat, I definitely think her buffet table would feature a certain fishy delicacy. Behold, fried smelts. We know how she likes those, don’t we?

And for the main course, what better than a spectacular roasted swan for the Duchess Tremontaine?

And for dessert, to add a little cultural spice (heh) to the festivities, a demonstration of the Kinwiinik chocolate preparation method (keep your fans handy, ladies), finishing with a freshly prepared confection for the lady of the hour.

Perfection. Provided nobody, ahem, ruins the swan this time.
