I'm just saying that in a psychology sense DL game and visual drama CDs is legit interesting, and how the cycle of abuse affects even vampires, I wonder if Sigmond Freud or Jung will have a field day trying to understand their psyche and past trauma that caused them to treat Yui and the triplets, I'll say this again and always have the worst case of Oedipus complex I have ever seen given the fact that Yui has their mom's heart, and they're the most obsessed with her.

This might be controversial but don't you think kanato gives off necrophile vibes? Like the doll obsession and all
don't worry, i feel ya... but methinks nay
as we all know, kanato experienced significant emotional neglect and abandonment, especially from his mother. the only "memento" she left him, a symbol of her affection, was a teddy bear. and so, his obsession with dolls began
however, as the Monkey Mother Experiment suggests, substitutes for love that do only the bare minimum fall short of fulfilling the real thing. it’s no wonder kanato is deeply insecure and unhinged. his understanding of love is stunted because it never had the chance to grow properly under cornelia's care—or lack thereof
his attachment to the dolls is symbolic of his need for control and perfection. dolls, unlike people, can’t betray or hurt him, which is why he clings to them. furthermore, turning the sacrificial brides into dolls keeps them in a state of eternal "perfection," much like how cordelia saw him solely as her 'songbird'—a role frozen in time
that said, I don’t think his obsession with dolls necessarily ventures into sexual territory. not that kanato is incapable of sexual feelings, but I believe those feelings would likely arise with someone who can offer him emotional security and foster his growth (i.e., Yui). after all, seeing his mother fucking his uncle likely left him with complicated views on intimacy
#diabolik lovers#sakamaki#kanato sakamaki#so few like to delve into purple gumdrop's psychology#while he is near dead-last personal fave#he is own box of fun analytically#like I think another post said DL is a great character study into how longterm child abuse and its variations can affect children#and manifest in different ways depending on the child and surrounding circumstances#still find the teddyxkarlheinz crackships hilarious tho

Diabolik lovers headcanons pt. 4
Hi! After that huge response my other post got, I decided to write more/be more active on here. I really enjoy writing my thoughts on just about anything regarding dl out and it makes me happy that so many people liked my post!
Although that big of a response was quite a shock. Seemed that I did not, in fact, yell into the void that time :).
Though I am not sure if that post did anything different, I'll continue posting on here no matter how big the response is. If I can make even one person happy with those posts, (including me) I'll keep on writing those silly headcanons of vampires that do not exist. :)
I am going to focus more on the mukamis and Yui in this post since the last one was almost only the Sakamakis.
⚠anything triggering will be marked like this: ❗trigger❗
⚠I am going to briefly discuss childhood trauma and depression.
As always, I'll try to stay at least a little bit true to the source material.
Asks are always appreciated!
This time, I rambled quite a bit about Azusa ':)
headcanons under the cut⬇
Firstly, Yui. Our dear heroine who deserves just about everything!
Really good at dancing those old, classical ballroom dances. She had a few lessons by Ayato (who spent the entire time giving his best not stomping on Yui's feet) and Reiji (whose lesson was the most horrifying experience she had ever had)
After those lessons, she refined her skills. Ayato is quite a good dancer, so she had someone to practice with.
Her best dances are waltz and rumba
Ayato is literally not physically able to stop watching her when dancing together. Never has he seen someone that beautiful (I stand by Ayato being totally besottet by Yui)
Her style is so coquetteish, old fairy tale princess, etherial soul, cottage core - genuinely dresses like a pinterest board
Really fcking pretty??? I don't get why the boys humble her all the time
Immune to pretty boys/play boys. She has seen it all.
really adores bunnies. Lionheads? She'd like a dozen of them.
Had at one point a guinea pig. It died and her father buried it and told her that a fairy had taken it to be her loyal companion. Yui believed it until she was like 16 years.
Her hair has those light curls and feels like the softest thing ever
The clasp in her hair is not the only flowery hair adornment she has, Yui loves to wear different clasps on special occasions
Definitely got gifted a hair pin with rose details from Subaru at one point
Best friends with Subaru. They like to spend quality time caring for his flowers and Yui is allowed to brush his hair on tare occasions.
Shu tried to teach her the violin once and she was horrible at it (but flute was her thing)
Has those shirts with horribly kitsch prints on them but no one says anything to her because she loves them so much
She has thought a lot about her faith since being with the Sakamakis. Read a lot about her god and the different religions.
Has though about studying theology and psychology in University
collects squishmallows
wears those light perfumes that smell like vanilla and flowers occasionally
Everyone turns their head when they first see Yui
Etherial beauty
Smells like vanilla. It's because she uses those body lotions and a lightly scented hair mist
Ayato goes mad at the smell
Ayato genuinely loves Yui. Just her, living her life. He adores her.
Also; Ayato is a himbo.
Dumb and dumber duo
Subaru teaches her material art as defense for anything coming at her
Natural at fighting
Decked Ayato in the face once as he materialized out of thin air behind her
Knocked him unconscious
Laito laughed for literal hours at the though of Ayato getting knocked out by Yui
Her dream is living in peace with eveyone she loves
Had an actual talk with Ayato at some point. They are a healthy couple now (No, I do not care about the canon. They're in love your highness)
Goes to therapy. She decided to after nightmares regarding her early days with the boys
Also, scared that Cordelia will come back at one point and take her body over completely
Yui is the nicest person ever
Will talk with you about everything you'd like
Gentle soul.
Gives great hugs?? Knows how to comfort someone who's feeling bad
She's not only good at baking but also at making those highly decorated cakes and cupcakes. Kanato begs her for themed cupcakes as soon as autumn starts and Halloween decorations appear
next, Ruki.
Eats way too much dark chocolate
We're talking about two entire bars minimum a day
Coffee junkie
Has a disproportionately large consume of anything caffeinated
Wears the same crusty, dry eyeliner since 1990
Refuses to buy a new one since "the old one still works" (it does not)
flirts with Reiji. Its so obvious that even Yuma has realized it
(Reiji is oblivious to it)
Academically speaking, really good at the natural sciences.
Fcking sucks at english though
Studies quite a lot, Ruki despises being on the same level as Reiji
Bad loser
Will be sulky after losing a game of Uno
Definitely cheats at card games
Really good at annoying Reiji. It's such a high level of annoying, he could give courses on the matter
Really good older brother
Checks on the other Mukami brothers when Ruki sees them struggeling with their pasts
Will check in every night if Azusa or Kou are plagued by nightmares
Has nightmares about the orphanage
❗sometimes wakes up scared that his brothers are actually dead and can only calm down after checking that each one is still alive
❗Definitely scared of anything happening to his brothers, he has panic attacks just thinking about that night
reads self help books
Has at least one "how to raise unruly children" book on his shelves
Culinary mastermind
But also makes the weirdest combinations of foods? Why would anyone like to taste jam with cucumbers and pepper????
now, Kou
Likes those really creepy stuffed toys
really good at drawing winged eyeliner
Has worn pink mascara and it looked so fcking good???
Hugest crush on Subaru
Flirts with him but the dear boy does not recognize romantic affection even when it slaps him in the face
Almost fainted riding the first time on Subaru's motorcycle
The scariest thing since really long
Wears really dangly, long earrings
With the weirdest motifs
Has one pair that has clams that can open. The pearls inside them glow in the dark.
his stomach is a bottomless pit. The first time he came over to spend a night at the Sakamaki's, Reiji was genuinely afraid that they had nit enough food to last to breakfast
Laito and he binged the Kardashians
Loves gossip. Knows everything about everyone
Makes rad nail art
Loves styling Azusa. Its their quality time, combined with trying those really spicy crisps
huge energy drink consumer
Helps him trough those sleepless nights were Kou stays up and chats with Laito the whole night through the phone
quite good at learning historical facts
Due to Kou's eye, he can see truths and lies in humans. But he is also really good at deciphering the human psyche.
Doesn't always use his eye. Sometimes, just Kou's knowledge of psychology is enough to recognize lies
There are some headcanons that Kou is italian. I agree with that. I can really image him enjoying the culture and the food. Also, I read a headcanon once that Kou's real name was Emilio. (If someone knows the name of the OP, please tell me)
Now, our vegetable freak: Yuma!
loves scrunchies and hair claw clips
Got one from Kanato once and uses them since
Also, I propose: Yuma with those hair claw clips in butterfly shape. Gifted by Kou as a joke
but now, he always wears them
Kanato braids his hair in really elaborate hair styles. Bridal style vibes. Kou thinks its the funniest thing ever
Shu loves toying with his hair when bored. It's just so soft and smells really good (Yuma uses Kou's shampoo on the regular. It causes quite a lot of fights)
took 1 (one) "Am I Gay" quiz. It came out a hundred percent positive. The next day, he confessed to Shu. They've been together ever since
Feeds the birds on the porch of their house every morning, together with Azusa
Actually really educated about current politics (at least the ones in Romania. But knows quite a lot about the USA and Japan, too)
Will start fights with Ruki about politics during dinner
If you ever want to hear angry romanian yelling, just go to the Mukami house during elections
Cares for every houseplant in their house
Brings at least two new plants per week at home. Ruki is on the brink of forbidding Yuma from accessing his monthly allowance
wears really shitty clothes. I'm talking thousand times stitched together trousers. They look like potatoes sacks but he refuses to get new ones
Has a toolbelt that looks atrocious
He wears it almost every day
The dirtiest shoes known to mankind
So dirty with soil and just about anything you can find in nature
Ruki gets daily aggressions about the spots on their carpet, since Yuma thinks changing shoes just for going inside is stupid
Wears the most amazing eyeliner but it is actually just old as fuck eyeshadow and mascara
He makes it look good
Has the longest lashes known to humankind
Brown skin due to being outside so much
Disneyprincess in secret
loves those huge dogs
now, Azusa!!
jesus that boy can be seductive
No, I wont elaborate
That was a lie, I will elaborate on anything with Azusa. He has the art of subtle flirting refined to mastery
Tried to flirt with Kanato. But Kanato thought he was being made fun of
Great at subtle makeup
Also; great dancer. Especially latin dances such as cha-cha-cha or salsa
He has those hips (breedable, as some folks would say)
Canonically doesn't like peppers
That doesn't apply to stuffed peppers with spices though
Great at remembering faces, not so great at remembering names
Can draw and paint and do art so good????
God of art
Not god of natural sciences though
Is doing alright at school but doesn't like the education system
Speaks not only romani and japanese but also a bit of English (and has the thickest british accent. No one knows where it is from and Azusa refuses to tell them that it is from watching Harry potter so often)
Colours his hair in a blue-black colour to give it more depth sometimes
Wears very pretty, light blue-ish glitter on the inner eye corner sometimes
So beautiful eyes??
Long, dark lashes
Likes to wear a bit of mascara
Naturally a defined jawline and straight nose
But a bit chubby cheeks
Is very pale but tans quite a but when longer outside in the summer. But dues to his sensitivity to heat, he'd rather stay inside
His eyes have a bit of an almond form, which gives them a sharp look, but still quite big
Azusa likes to wear too big clothes, especially hoodies and sweaters from Ruki and Yuma.
Also, cargo pants. The wide ones
Combat boots are a staple in his closet
Loves plateau boots and sneakers
Converse all stars are his to go shoes if no plateau boot is available
The shoes size him up quite a bit so the first time he met the Sakamakis, they all thought he was quite big. They all were surprised as they arrived at the Mukami home and Azusa just shrinked a few inches
Paints his fingernails in hope that he doesn't chew on them that much if they're pretty and colorful
Cuts his hair himself because he feels that his slow manner of speech annoys the staff in hair salons
But he likes the choppy style so its not as big of a problem for him
❗has a problem coping with what happened in his childhood. He canonically sh, but has frequent anxienty attacks too.
Due to that, he has a few weightened blankets and lots of pillows on his bed to simulate the feeling of getting hugged
Big hugger
His love language is physical touch
bug lover
Has a really cool sweater with the life cycle of a frog
That was it, actually. I rambled quite a bit about Azusa but I still hope you'll like it.
I hope I was able to make your day a bit better.
If you have any requests, just ask!
Thank you for reading all of that. I really appreciate you! I hope you'll have an amazing day/night!

Diabolik Lovers: Christa —Aesthetic (Requested)

Christa Sakamaki's Character & Personality
Christa is several centuries old and is Karlheinz's cousin. As such, she's the demon Dutchess of Vampires. Christa later willingly marries Karl and becomes his third wife as one of the Vampire Queens. She's also the mother of Subaru. Despite her innocent and meek appearance, Christa has strong pride. She had a dispute with her first sister-in-law about who their husband truly loved. At some point, it's revealed Christa is nothing more than an experiment like the other wives. This causes her to develop bipolar behavior towards her son and neglect him. When in a stable mood, Christa enjoys visits from her child, where she's gentle and affectionate toward him. Although she loves her son, she gave him a silver knife and begged him to kill her. Unfortunately, Christa is eventually locked away in a tower separate from the rest of the castle. There, she's psychologically tortured until she goes insane. Christa now has fits and psychotic episodes, where she can't differentiate between identities and has no sense of the present. She even has a malicious side. Christa will deceive and poison women, under the delusion they're her first sister-in-law, out of jealousy for her husband's love.

Hello could you do a laito x broken reader
Please
[I absolutely can! Best to come back with a popular prompt request, right? Hope I didn’t keep you all waiting too long! Sorry if I’m a bit rusty

Laito Sakamaki x Fem!Reader
(Diabolik Lovers Fanfic)
Things had changed so much from that day. You wouldn’t have ever thought that your life in the Sakamaki household would be any more than just physically taxing.
You were wrong.
Your heart had been broken long ago by the vampire you’d foolishly given it to. Your mind and spirit better resembled a puzzle that had been flipped off a table.
It was an endless and daily torture… until it wasn’t. Until it simply felt like nothing.
The sound of the piano was hardly reaching your ears despite sitting at its seat. Laito’s fingers played on the keys in a slow melody, one you’d usually enjoy watching him perform for you.
It was one of those things that simply made you fall deeper in love with him each time. A serenade for your heart from him, and he was all that mattered.
The music stopped and he turned to you. “Little—” he cut himself off. The nickname he’d once teased you with was now dirty on his tongue, completely covered in disgusting memories. His head tilted down, meeting your soulless eyes once again, the ones he’d given you…
His eyes were in your line of sight, but you saw completely through him, oblivious to his presence.
His hand reached for yours, searching for something in the eyes he’d ruined. He didn’t want to admit it, the fact he’d be the very cause of your current state. His resolve was weakening, watching you wither away from the lack of nutrition you were getting and how it didn’t even seem like you slept some nights.
He couldn’t admit he’d been the one to…
His grip tightened. “Hey…” he sounded so pathetic, his voice wavering and cracking slightly as he spoke.
Your breathing was so slow he worried for a moment if he’d heard your breathing at all.
His elbow hit the piano keys, a loud shout of incoherent notes reverberating throughout the music room. His hand brushed back his hair, frustration and a weight on his chest that could bring him to his knees overcoming him.
He remembered the day you’d suddenly given out on him, the way your screams suddenly silenced and your eyes didn’t respond to his hits. The scars on your body only barely healed from the way he’d handled you. He remembered so vividly how he’d kept his cheery voice at a peak while suffocating you with his bare hands. The way you squirmed and had even begun resorting to hitting him to survive.
It was only when you’d pass out on the ground that he would stare at you blankly, thinking you were dead and not thinking twice about it.
He told you he loved you, if you died, wouldn’t this be his ultimate confession of that?
It wasn’t until your smile and your laugh became a distant memory that he realized just how much he missed it. The way you’d bend over laughing at the playful teasing between you two. Or how you’d hug him in a way that was so tender and true that the idea of death separating you two was unfathomable to him.
He wanted nothing more than to spend an eternity with you.
He loved you.
So why did he… how could he turn around and strip such an achievable reality with you down to this very moment.
Your cheeks were sunken in from the malnutrition.
Laito sat up straight, wrapping his arms gently around your waist and pulling you to his chest. He pressed his cheek against the top of your head and focused on the soft thumping of your heart.
“I love you,” he whispered. That once cheerful tone in his voice was completely vacant.
You didn’t respond, and you never would.
He was well aware you’d never get to…
There was a little to no chance you’d make it past the month. All the pain and torture your body had obtained over the past two years had you made you reach your limit. The emotional and psychological pain had been the breaking point, but Laito was too late to realized that the eternity he’d wanted with you was possible.
It was so close…
It was right there…
It was gone, and he knew that. He’d accept it now, the fact you’d never be able to tell him you loved him, and that you’d give the world to stay by his side.
Your subconscious would forever regret the words you’d spoken that day. The sentence that had steered your lives in this very direction…
Your hands cupped his cheeks as you looked adoringly into his gorgeous green eyes. Your nose softly brushed his while he smiled mischievously at the move he’d make in the next second, unaware of the words that would make him replace the kisses on your neck with a hand.
“No matter what happens or what we go through, I will love you through it all,” you whispered before softly pressing a kiss to his lips. “I’ll love you till my last breath, Laito…”
And that was all it took…
“Prove it,” he’d said.

I've recently checked out your Yui x female headcanons and I wanna know do you actually think Yui falling in love with the diaboys is just Stockholm syndrome? I know they’re just meant to be head canons but I’m pretty curious about it (but I’m pretty sure she genuinely fell in love with them)
I was waiting for this one!! Here’s an analysis on my end!!
TW FOR PEDOPHILIA, STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, DIABOLIK LOVERS TYPICAL ABUSE.
So let’s start off with who Yui is as a character.
She’s supposed to be written as a sheltered, sweet, and overall empathetic girl who follows a strict moral code, mainly influenced by her religious views (Roman Catholicism).
This is heavily implied as in Romania at the time and as of current, Roman Catholicism is the main religion practiced.
It’s canon that her interactions with men have been controlled, as seen with her father— who did neglect her, leaving her to eat meals by herself, always be home alone, and basically only rely on the nuns for some support— but even then it wasn’t enough.
Hence why she can be considered to be a ‘good housewife’ since she has that experience on knowing how to manage a household with chores and all.
Even further pushing it for her previous relations with men, we know she had friends before— a life before— the house. Men? I would assume she was cordial when needed to be, but never was allowed to heavily interact, which is why she’s so out of date with her speaking, and pop culture— as it’s revealed by Yui, herself, that she doesn’t know that much.
But of course, why is that important? It gives the key foundlings to her environment, and also aids in assessing who’s more susceptible to Stockholm syndrome, and any tactics of abuse.
Basically who is the best ‘target’ for abusers to get too.
Her father canonically has given off-hand sketchy vibes, and also has canonically shown borderline pedophilic behaviours towards his own adoptive daughter. Even going as far as to want and attempt to marry her.
(I’m not sure where that is shown again, but in some MB routes— Kou’s, Ruki’s— he [Seiji, Her adoptive father] meets Yui and assumes she’s a vampire and attempts to kill her.)
Basically, it all starts at home. It sets the ground work for what you can take and what a person is conditioned to believe, etc.
In this case, Yui is conditioned to believe that it’s at least normal for her to appropriate these behaviours, and in a sense, still talk good about the men around her because she doesn’t know any better. She doesn’t know anything other than this.
That’s why she still tries her best to talk about her father is a positive light, because, due to her good heart, wants to believe and see the best and people (a core part in her character which allows her to live and persevere all routes— especially HDB with the boys.)
So due to that, we can take the groundwork presented to us as a Player, Reader, or consumer of the games and Diabolik Lovers Media, that Yui’s relationships and viewpoints of men is formed and directly influenced by her father and what rules he set up.
A psychological fact, everyone’s core parts and associations all start at home, with our parents. That’s why many get their viewpoints of how a man should treat you, via your father figure. And so forth.
It starts with discipline, then forming views and opinions, and overall how the treatment you receive reflects directly what you are constantly engaged and exposed to in your home-life and environment.
So for Yui, we can understand the following—
A) Relations with Father figure (which impacts her views/treatment by men) is shifty, but she still speaks in good light.
B) She is used to being alone, and handling everything herself. Bottling it in as she didn’t have that many outlets other than the obvious religious standpoint.
C) Despite it all, she’s raised to be a good person and is high or quite white, on the scale of morality.
So with that being said, what is Stockholm Syndrome?
Stockholm Syndrome is a diagnosis given when:
A) Feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim toward a captor.
B) Hostages sometimes develop a psychological bond with their captors. It is supposed to result from a rather specific set of circumstances, namely the power imbalances contained in hostage-taking, kidnapping, and abusive relationships.
That is the formal definition, given by Oxford Dictionary and Wikipedia (Cited from: King, David [2020], and Jameson, C [2010].)
Which are official reports reviewed by psychologists and psychiatrists who are heavily trained in their field.
Now, we can take it from the anime and HDB (the darkest of the games,) that Reiji implicitly states “You are not able to leave.” To which Subaru replies, “Just tell her that if she attempts to escape she’ll die.”
That in itself tells you there’s no escape. And that from that point on, Yui becomes a hostage. In a house with pre-established men who already are high level threats to Yui, and are highly dangerous.
And what is Yui? She’s afraid. Like any sane person who understands the power difference between a man and a woman— more specifically vampires. She learns this instantly, and also faces threats of bodily harm quick into her stay.
Whatever happens later on in any route, is Yui playing the saviour. She’s expected to cater to every boy, and there are heavy repercussions if she disobeys.
There’s a master post of everything in HDB that occurs when the boys attempt to kill her.
And of course, this doesn’t just start at HDB, this also extends all all games, MB, DF, LE, and just any and all games when there’s an introduction in characters or simply just any routes.
In every route there will be at least some sort of implication of abuse or undertones. As that is what Diabolik Lovers is, a dark video game series.
Point is, if it’s Diabolik Lovers, expect some sort of abuse towards the MC/Yui/Player.
With this basis and mentality in mind, it’s heavy and dark. Which is what lead many previous brides to take their own life. They couldn’t handle the constant pressure nor the abuse being presented to them that they underwent.
So where does Yui fit into all of this?
A) She’s one of the many brides and assumed to be the last bride to enter the house due to her complicated relations with her heart.
B) She is undergoing the abuse of the Sakamaki’s, Mukami’s, Tsukinami’s, and Kino.
C) She is quite literally a victim and survivor of what countless other brides have died to. The only thing keeping her alive is her heart, which also goes to make problems for her in the future.
It’s been stated, highlighted, emphasized and understood by everyone— including Yui herself, that all she is worth is her blood. A blood bag. That is it.
Of course, this is where the Adam and Eve Plan would come into play with Yui finding an Adam out of the candidates.
However, she is still in this environnement which tolerates and even thrives off of her abuse.
Which would, in some routes, condition her to become a masochist, thriving off of her own pain, just because the vampires constantly tell her, gaslight her, and condition her to believe that she likes it.
Even after Yui consistently states she doesn’t.
(This is also influenced by Cordelia’s heart, and what Cordelia is subconsciously pushing Yui too aswell, as seen in HDB, one of the scenes with Shuu as he gets jumped in the alleyway. Her thoughts— driven by Cordelia in the moment— reflect sadistic intent. Another scene where she’s pushed to enjoy her suffering, even when Yui fights against it because somewhere inside her knows it’s wrong.)
However, this isn’t to say that the boys don’t get character development. They do. Which is how we as a consumer and player can have fan favourites and like them.
But how do they get to that point? Through Yui. Using Yui as a direct catalyst to project their abusive tendencies into her, leaving her to pick up the pieces with herself, and become an unlicensed therapist to aid in their problems.
This is directly influenced by each of the Sakamaki’s mommy issues, the Mukami’s inferiority complexes and need to succeed, and for the Tsukinami’s— their need for their race to be saved.
And of course, understanding every boys’ underlying complexities of their individual traumas which make up their character as we know it.
Yui has to suffer a lot for her to get what we see it, or what is painted as, ‘love and a good ending,’ with the selected boy and route of each respective game— along with the boy chosen.
She gets here because she’s slowly conditioned to allow these abusers to take over her life, and basically become what they need in that moment.
But she does have her own personality, her own goals, motivations, and whatnot.
However it becomes overrided by the survivor mentality she’s instantly placed in when she’s constantly around these vampiric men. She’s always on her guard, and the moment she drops it, it’s used against her.
Even when she’s seemingly in a good moment with the boys, understand, that one wrong move can send her straight to death. So everything is much more calculated than it seems.
In fact— to further prove the Stockholm syndrome affect— Yui acknowledges that she’s stuck and trapped. In Shuu’s HDB route, DARK 01, she only attempts to get Shuu to go to his classes in hopes that the Sakamaki’s will be greatful to her and let her leave.
So even if she does happen to find attraction in any of the boys, and fall in love, there’s still an outlining of conditioning that gets her to that point.
This isn’t to hate on anyone that ships Yui with any of the boys, this is simply a brief analysis of the facts from a purely psychological approach!! I’d like to think if the boys got therapy and worked through their problems, perhaps then, they wouldn’t have projected their traumas onto Yui.
But thank you for the ask!! This was fun to analyze!!

I just saw that you also write about Diabolik Lovers??? Could I request headcanons about what it would be like to date Shuu, Kanato and Subaru? And also about what type of girl they're into? ::0
A/N: A request for my personal top 3 Sakamaki brothers? Of course, you've got great taste.
Shu -Considering he's the brother who's most prone to having pets, I feel like being an animal lovers is a trait he finds desirable in a partner as he would love to have a pet with you someday. -If you already have pets, they are a surefire tacic to wurm into this boy's heart. Sending him your endless collection of adorable snaps of your pets and you, etc, he eats it up. -Because he's incredibly lazy, he wouldn't like extremely tasking dates like a cute hiking trip. Shu's more of the type who'd get hold of your favorite movie or turn on Netflix with you in bed and getting Reiji to make your favorite snacks. -He also likes a girl who's a little playful but not completely hyper. Someone who energizes him a little more and makes him smile, but not one who pushes him too far. -The two of you exchange a lot of teasing comments and casually flirt with one another all the time. "Has someone ever told you that you look sexy when you snore, Shu?" Kanato -I feel like he's into maternal girls. Aside from his creepy thing for his mom, with his childlike tendencies and the dynamic with his brothers, you'd certainly need mother-of-several-young-children levels of patience to deal with the drama. -Kanato loves giving hugs when he's sleepy. He'll attach himself to you like you are his diabolical teddybear. -Surprisingly, he allows you to pick any sort of dating activities though if he doesn't likes it, he'll make you suggest something else. Kanato can be a little indecisive with this, you know? -Kanato also really likes girls that are a fellow 'kidult' like him and share his love for toys and sweets. I can totally see the two of you discussing doll lines, doing face-ups together and dressing up like your favorite dolls together. -The two of you will also go to every annual doll collector events and all the vintage markets. Kanato never expected to have a girl with whom he could go on shopping dates like these and he's excited for them every time. "I hate how we already spent our budget. That fish plushy looked SO cute!"
Subaru -Well, he'd like his girl to be at least be more sane then his mom. Not saying you need to be 100% mentally healthy 24/7, but having a stable sense of reality it necessary. -Bonus points if you actually know a bit about psychology and the consequences of being a KOPP (Dutch acronym meaning Kinderen van Ouders met Psychiatrische Problemen - the English translation is Children of Parents with Psychiatric Problems. So far, I've never encountered an English version of the acronym) -His choice of dates is surprisingly romantic but they're generally low-key. Like cute picnics, far away from everyone where he can just enjoy the serenity and simplicity of the way you make him feel. -He also really wants a girl who supports him, outside of his traumas and family too. Like a girl who encourages his talent for poetry and helps him come out of his shell and be confident in expressing himself outside of violent tantrums. -He loves writing about you, he really does. He actually, after a a sweet friendship, dared to confess with a love poem he sent through a xt message because he knew he'd snatch back the letter and chicken out if he actually wrote it down on real paper. "If only I weren't so craven, I'd tell you all there is resting in my soul, That your voice sounds like heaven And your smile makes me whole"

Yes, I do psychoanalysis Diabolik Lover Vamp boys bc criminal and parapsychology is one of my hyperfixations. Because I find that the Sakamakis and the Mukamis are basically Nature vs Nurture and unlike the Sakamakis most of the Mukamis besides Azusa for the most part understands the idea of right and wrong because they were once human before being turned and even tho they don't have souls anymore, they still have some morals and restraint when sucking the MC.

Reiji how tf r u even able to handle disrespect. If I had to babysit some bitchass 5 kids I would honestly get so mad at them and slap them. And how did you stay so clam when Cordelia slapped you, I wouldve dislocated her bones🙏🙏🙏
reiji- slapping children does little to teach them the refinement needed to become true gentlemen. but I suppose you share a similar... lack of refinement as that woman
*pauses, his smirk widening slightly* it's almost laughable how some mistake harshness for true discipline

I have a question for you regarding the whole seriesbof Diabolik Lovers.
Is it wrong to like the series?
The whole series falls under the dark romance troupe. But many people do not like it due to the fact the constant abuse and torture Yui is put through, how the tragic past of brothers the doesn't justify their actions towards Yui, and the romancitization of a abusive relationship.
Not using Stockholm Syndrome because it doesn't have any psychological trials but was coined by a police officer to discredit a female hostage during a bank robbery.
https://apnews.com/article/stockholm-syndrome-history-origin-023ddcd3a14ac00a0ba88feb838574b3
First of, thanks for the question anon because I really wanted to make post about this exact topic so this is the perfect opportunity!
As of your question, I think we really have to understand, as a fandom, that diabolik lovers is not for everyone and is targeted at a very specific demographic, so of course it makes perfect sense why there's people who would not like the content diabolik lovers has and criticize or hate. Personally, I think that as long you don't normalize, justify, or romanticize the actions of the male characters, as long as you understand that a lot of the stuff the characters do to the protagonist is not okay and is NOT ROMANTIC, you know why there's people who feel uncomfortable by Diabolik lovers and in general you don't defend these types of behaviors and don't view them as romantic..it's not wrong to like Diabolik lovers and I don't think liking it makes you a bad person or a person with questionable morals.
I think anyone should be allowed to like media with problematic stuff without being questioned about their morality as long as the media in question doesn't normalize the questionable things. Which, unlike popular belief, I don't believe diabolik lovers normalize those horrible things, but that's a topic for another post. Anyway, I think we also have to take into consideration that a lot of the people in the fandom got into DL because of the anime (which is a more censored version compared to the games) and not really because of the games (myself included) and not all of them are aware of the bad things the diaboys did to the MC so that's why, till this day, some of them still defend the diaboys, even if its a small minority.
Anywho, I know there's a huge debate (that I personally won't get into) about whether fiction affects reality or not, and because of that a lot of non-DL likers believe DL fans think that type of behavior is okay and that justifies serious situations like SA or torture, which is the opposite (I would like to say that compared to other fandoms, the DL fandom ACTUALLY is aware of the bad behaviors of the characters and do call them out, which you can see countless of posts doing so) because we, in fact, do not (though there are people who justify the actions, but again, it's a small minority)
Is it wrong to like diabolik lovers? No, at least I don't think it's a bad thing. I think DL is one of those series that show you perfectly how victims of abuse can become abusers and do bad things and that not all abuse victims become good people. of course, I agree with anyone saying that their abuse doesn't justify their actions towards Yui but again, it's more of an explanation than a justification, it's the reason why they behaved that way. I think we should also take into consideration that a a fair amount of time has passed between the first games and the diaboys no longer behave like they used to and are way kinder with the mc (at the end of the day, it is an otome game so it makes sense).
I am a firm believer that creators should have the freedom to add a problematic thing (as long as it doesn't normalize it, of course) without spoonfeeding the consumer of how the bad thing in question is bad constantly, because the consumer should already know that and because the media makes it clear that it's bad, and I believe diabolik lovers does that. While reading the translations I always thought that the game made a very clear distinction between what actions were supposed to be romantic and what actions weren't supposed to be romantic. I believe that a lot of the actions of the diaboys did were supposed to show us how bad their past trauma affected them to the point it affected their personality and the way they treat others (not only MC). I think DL in general makes it clear that the behaviors of the diaboys towards the mc aren't okay and, believe it or not, the diaboys do suffer consequences from treating the mc like dogshit lol.
I know a lot of people are not going to agree with this particular take, but taking into account you asked me, I just wanted to put my two and two together on what I personally thought regarding this topic. if you don't like Diabolik lovers and you hate it for being problematic, I don't blame you and I understand why, at the end of the day it's extremely disturbing and definitely not for anyone. Even as someone who has been consuming DL content for years now, it does make me very uncomfortable sometimes and disturbed me to the point there are a lot of translations I never finished reading because I got creeped out lol, but the character development of this game makes it up for those times.
To conclude, no it's not wrong to like DL as long as you're aware that none of the behaviors displayed by the diaboys are not normal nor in any way justified.

Do you like or hate Diabolik Lovers?
I like Yui, but I'm not fond of DL. I would've been fine with it if it stuck to being a psychological horror, but it's based on a Drama CD series that's non-consentual S&M play, and those two ideas mix about as well as oil in water. This causes the intended reaction for the audience to feel bad for Yui's situation, and, to some extent, the love interests, but to also be aroused by the love interests abusing Yui, which creates an odd tone throughout the games, especially when they get more plot-focused.

Kou Mukami☆

"To My Little Sea Sprite" – A Love Letter, A Stalker’s Confession, A Dangerous Devotion
Kou wasn’t the kind of guy who second-guessed himself. Usually, when he wanted something, he took it. No hesitation, no overthinking. But Celine—Celine had thrown him into unfamiliar territory.
Stalking her was easy. Too easy. He knew the routes she took home, the cafés she liked, the way she carried herself with an effortless grace that made his fingers twitch with the urge to reach out and ruin it just a little. And then there was him—the tiny, golden-furred rabbit she had named Apollo. A ridiculous name for such a delicate creature, but somehow, it suited her. The rabbit was a mirror of his owner—soft and warm, yet just a little wary, as if it knew something dangerous lurked nearby.
Kou had grown used to watching her through a lens, a step behind the shadows, collecting pieces of her life like stolen treasures. But when it came to putting his thoughts into words, that was another story entirely. He had written draft after draft, torn through pages like a man possessed, his frustration mounting as nothing seemed right. Should he be poetic? Playful? Brutally honest? His fingers curled tight around the pen, his thoughts an unbearable mess. Every time he tried to explain why she had gotten under his skin, the words fell apart. How was he supposed to tell her that her voice had settled into his bones? That her scent haunted him? That the thought of her with someone else sent something dark and vicious curling inside him?
In the end, he settled on something raw. Something real.
The letter still burned in his pocket as he waited outside the concert venue, leaning against the wall with a lazy grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes. His undead heart seem to pounded against his ribs, a foreign, infuriating rhythm. He wasn’t nervous—Kou Mukami didn’t get nervous. And yet, as he saw her stepping out, exhaustion clinging to her shoulders, he felt something tighten in his chest.
He had never been good at giving without taking. But tonight, just this once, he would let her have something.
A carefully selected bouquet of soft pink roses—delicate, lovely, just like her—and a box of chocolates, chosen with more thought than he’d ever admit. And the letter, neatly folded, tucked between the petals. The moment her gaze met his, he stepped forward, grin widening, his usual playful bravado slipping into place.
“Surprise, little sea sprite,” he murmured, holding the bouquet out to her, his fingers brushing hers as she reached for it. “Figured you deserved a little something after putting on a show for all those adoring fans. But don’t get the wrong idea—this isn’t me being nice or anything.” His voice lowered, the teasing lilt hiding something far more dangerous beneath. “Just… don’t keep me waiting too long, yeah?”
And with that, he turned, walking away before she could respond—before she could see just how much it really meant.
... ☆
Celine stood frozen in place, staring after him long after he disappeared into the night. The scent of roses filled her lungs, mingling with the lingering warmth of his touch on her fingers. What just happened?
Slowly, she looked down at the bouquet, her breath catching when she noticed the folded paper nestled between the petals. A love letter? From Kou Mukami? It didn’t seem possible, and yet… her fingers trembled as she pulled it free, unfolding the page with careful hands.
Her eyes scanned the words—words that should have unsettled her, but instead made her heartbeat quicken.
To My Little Sea Sprite,
I shouldn’t be writing this.
I shouldn’t even be thinking about you. But here I am, watching the ink stain the page, every word I carve out pulling me deeper under your spell. And the worst part? You don’t even know. You have no idea what you’ve done to me.
You were supposed to be just another face in the crowd, another girl starry-eyed and desperate for a piece of me. But you weren’t. You looked at me—not like an idol, not like something untouchable—but as a person. No screaming, no shaking hands, no suffocating obsession. Just… warmth. A quiet kind of admiration, the kind that seeped into my skin and made me feel seen.
And that should have been the end of it.
But I could smell it. The truth. The salt of the ocean clinging to your skin, the undeniable whisper of something not human. You don’t belong among them, do you? You walk in their world, smile for their cameras, let them call you Artemisia Jones as if that name could ever define you. But you and I both know that’s a lie. You’re something far rarer than that—a secret tucked away beneath layers of illusions. And yet, despite all that power, all that mystery, you stood in front of me and called me kind.
Do you know how dangerous that was?
Because now, I can’t stop thinking about you. I can’t stop watching you. I tell myself it’s curiosity—just a game, just a little indulgence—but then I see you on screen, see someone else touching you, whispering sweet words in your ear, and something inside me snaps. You were never meant for them. Never meant to play pretend with someone else’s hands on you.
I should have waited longer. I should have let this burn a little more. But patience was never my strong suit, and you—you were so close. So warm. Your pulse hammering beneath my lips, the taste of you sinking into my senses, your breath catching in that moment before my fangs pierced your skin… was it fear? Or was it something else?
I wonder if you can still feel it. The ache. The heat. The way I pressed you against me, whispering that I wouldn’t stop. And I won’t. Not now. Not ever.
They can have Artemisia. They can praise her, desire her, pretend they know her. But Celine—sweet, trembling, breathtaking Celine—she belongs to me.
So be good, little sea sprite. Stay where I can see you. Keep pretending to be part of their world if it makes you feel safe. But don’t forget who you really belong to.
Because next time?
I won’t stop at just a taste.
Yours, always,
Kou Mukami☆
Celine’s breath hitched, her fingers tightening around the page. The words sent a shiver down her spine—both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure.
He had been watching her. Following her. And yet, there was no mistaking the raw emotion behind his words. This wasn’t some shallow crush. This wasn’t just infatuation. This was obsession, tangled in devotion, laced with something dark and unshakable.
A deep heat pooled in her chest, her heart hammering as she read the letter again. The pink roses in her arms suddenly felt heavier, their petals soft yet suffocating.
He had left before she could respond, but somehow, she knew—he was still watching.
And, despite herself… she wasn’t sure she wanted him to stop.

Shu Sakamaki ♪

A Love Letter from Shu Sakamaki – A Silent Devotion, A Restless Longing
Shu never cared for effort. Whether it was school, people, or the world around him—it was all just noise, something to endure until it inevitably faded into irrelevance. But then there was her.
Celine. Artemisia Jones. A nymph among humans.
He had first seen her in passing—just another student in the halls of school, just another face in a sea of meaningless people. He should have forgotten her the moment she walked away. And yet, he hadn’t.
She was different. Unlike the others who either feared him or pestered him for attention, she was simply… there. Never pushing, never prying, but never looking away either.
"It must be tiring, letting everyone take pieces of you."
The words had settled in his mind, unshakable. As if she understood.
It had irritated him.
More than he cared to admit, he had started watching her. Not because he cared—he told himself that much—but because he needed to know what made her different. Why she lingered in his thoughts when no one else ever did.
He found himself drawn to the way she carried herself—soft-spoken yet unyielding, reserved yet undeniably present. The way she sat beneath the shade of a tree during lunch, her fingers absently twirling strands of her hair as she gazed at the sky. The way she moved through the world, gentle and graceful, but never truly belonging to it.
Then, of course, there was Apollo.
That ridiculous golden-furred rabbit she always carried when no one was watching, whispering softly to it as though it could understand.
She was odd. And for some reason, he couldn’t look away.
It had gotten worse—his distraction, his irritation. He caught himself waiting for her, lingering in places he never had a reason to be, memorizing her habits without realizing it. He should have ignored her. He tried.
But she made it impossible.
Which led to this.
A letter he never meant to write. A gift he never meant to buy. He had spent too much time debating whether it was worth it before finally shoving both under her pillow, leaving no trace of his presence behind.
And then, he left.
... ♪
The day had been long.
Celine sighed as she entered her bedroom, stretching her arms above her head. School had been exhausting as always—draining, suffocating. The meaningless chatter, the empty social obligations… None of it had ever felt real to her.
All she wanted was to collapse into bed, to rest.
But the moment she laid down, she felt it—something firm beneath her pillow.
Frowning, she sat up, reaching beneath it until her fingers brushed against something smooth. Slowly, she pulled it out—a black velvet box. Confused, she turned it over in her hands before her eyes landed on the second object: a folded, slightly crumpled letter.
Her heartbeat quickened as she carefully unfolded the paper.
The Letter ..
Celine,
I should have ignored you. I tried. But you don’t make it easy.
You linger. In ways I don’t have the patience to explain. In the quiet, in the noise, in the spaces between my thoughts. You take up too much room in my mind, and I hate it.
You—who walk so easily between two worlds. A nymph among humans. A woman playing a role that isn’t really hers. You pretend so well it almost fools me, but I know better. I see through it. I see you.
And yet, you make it so damn difficult to stay detached.
You were supposed to be just another passing moment. A name I would forget. But you weren’t. And now, I don’t know what to do with you.
You irritate me. You make me restless. And worse, you make me care.
I don’t know what you want from me. I don’t know if you want anything at all. But if you’re going to keep invading my thoughts, then you should at least know this—
I won’t ignore you anymore.
Shu..
Celine's breath hitched.
Slowly, her eyes drifted back to the black velvet box in her hands. With careful fingers, she flipped it open—inside was a delicate silver necklace, a single deep-blue sapphire at its center, gleaming softly under the dim bedroom light.
Her fingers traced its surface, a warmth spreading in her chest, both unfamiliar and overwhelming.
This… Shu Sakamaki did this?
It was almost unbelievable.
Shu, who avoided effort, who never seemed to care about anything, had gone out of his way to leave this.
Her lips parted, then curled into a small, breathless smile.
"You're such a liar, Shu," she murmured to the quiet room, pressing the letter close to her heart.
He had been watching her all along.

good timezone, jules! i Peeked at your updated possible sources list & i have been inspired to suggest some more :)
if you watched hazbin hotel, you should watch its sister show helluva boss (very much free to watch entirely on youtube). if you watched the hot trash show that is diabolik lovers (i say this with love. i've been a fan of dialovers since im 14 <3), you should try the equally hot garbage that is vampire knight (also with love, i have been a bigger fan since im also 14)
unrelated to The List, i suggest you take a peek at neon genesis evangelion (both the original anime + end of evangelion [very important!] & the 4 rebuild movies) because it's psychological disasters personified & tbh i feel like you'd like it, & on a similar vein, land of the lustrous/houseki no kuni (SPECIFICALLY the manga, which you can find for free online, because that's where all the shit happens). evangelion is my favorite anime & hnk is my favorite manga actually :) they're both very madoka magica in the sense that it starts out cheery & suddenly everything that could possibly go wrong goes wrong. & even if you dont get any kin feels from them i think you'd really enjoy the plot!
Thank you so much for the recommendations, I'll look into both the source adjacent ones and the ones for general enjoyment alike. I'm glad to hear from you again, as always
