Bilva Leaves and Lord Venkateswara
Bilva leaves or Bel Patra is associated with Lord Shiva. But it is also offered to Lord Venkateswara (Balaji). The leaf of Bilwa tree is of great importance in Hindu pujas and worship.
The leaves are trifoliate by nature.
Symbolically it resembles the trident – Trishul of Shiva.
It also represents Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Thus symbol of creation, sustenance and destruction.
It also represents the three gunas Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.
According to Sri Sukta the Bilva tree was born as a result of the intense penance observed by Goddess Lakshmi. Hence the leaves of the tree is offered Srihari Vishnu.
In the month of Dhanurmasa (December 15 to January 14) on all the days Bilva leaves are offered to Sri Venkateswara at the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple during the early morning Archana.

#ఈ పాశురం వినినంతనే మంచి ఫలితాలు పొందగలరు - Thiruppavai Pasuram 7 Tiruppavai is a collection of thirty paasurams written in Tamil by Andal (Nachiyar), in praise of the Lord Perumal, (Vishnu). It is part of Divya Prabandha, a work of the twelve Alvars, and is important part of Tamil literature. Kodhai Devi or Goda Devi/Andal incarnated on earth in the 98th year after the beginning of the Kali Era (3102 BC). #Tiruppavai #TiruppavaiInTelugu #Thiruppavai Sri Andal performed a wonderful vratham or vow called Dhanurmasa vratham to tell us that, by practising this vratham, one can attain all materialistic happiness along with the eternal bliss. The period, from when the sun moves into the constellation of Dhanur-rasi or Sagittarius and until it moves out to the constellation of Makara-rasi or Capricorn is known as Dhanurmasam. In Thiruppavai, Andal gives a universal call to all people to recite the name and glories of Lord Vishnu. #తిరుప్పావై నేర్చుకుందాం #Tiruppavai Nerchukundam #Tiruppavai in Telugu #Thiruppavai Telugu with Lyrics #తిరుప్పావై 30 పాశురాలు. #Tiruppavai #TiruppavaiInTelugu #Thiruppavai #Andal  #తిరుప్పావై పాశురాలు తెలుగులో #Thiruppavai Pasuram #అన్ని సమస్యలను పరిష్కరించే అద్భుతమైన పాశురం #Thiruppavai Pasuram - 1 #Dhanurmasam Special #Margazhi Thingal Pasuram Meaning #తిరుప్పావై ౩౦ పాశురాలు విని నేర్చుకోండి #Tiruppavai Pasuram 1 #Pasuram #1 #Dhanurmasam Special 2020 #Tiruppavai in Telugu #Thiruppavai Telugu with Lyrics #తిరుప్పావై 30 పాశురాలు #Thiruppavai Pasurams #Dhanurmasam #Thiruppavai 1st PA:SURAM bestgurutv #best #guru #tv #BESTGURUTV #DAILY #diy #DIY #telugu Follow us on You tube :  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGW1Coc_pWdRDtzEFgYlYPQ/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/best.guru.7731?ref=bookmarks TWITTER: https://twitter.com/PHANIKR94440243 INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/bestgurutv BLOGGER: https://www.blogger.com/profile/12948348718423412871

Quote
1. You who wish to celebrate a birthday, inquire first who was born. One’s true birthday is when one enters into the Eternal Being which shines forever without birth or death. 2. Of all days on one’s birthday one should mourn one’s fall (into samsara). To celebrate it as a festival is like adorning and glorifying a corpse. To seek one’s Self and merge in it is wisdom.
Sri Ramana Maharshi - Verses on the Celebration of Bhagavan’s Birthday
🕉️
Bhagavan was born on December 30, 1879. His birthday, however, is observed according to the Tamil calendar in dhanurmasa when the moon is with the star Punarvasu. According to the Western calendar this day falls in the months of December-January. When it was first proposed in 1912, Bhagavan expressed his objection in the form of these two verses. Even so, his disciples were not deterred and the Jayanti day festival continues to be one of the great annual events at the Ashram.

A Wonderful beginning – 2020 Weddings can’t just happen anytime! Of course, there has to be a perfect Muhurtham for it. This year 2020 started with back to back weddings and even Upanayanam.  After a month long break for Dhanurmasa from mid Dec to mid Jan with no Muhurtham, the peak season started with a bang from 20th Jan. Owing to this, all the wedding planners in Bangalore are practically on their toes in Jan.
Being one of the wedding planners in Bangalore ourselves, we were busy planning several different and unique yet exceptional weddings this season. Our season started with a grand two-day affair of a typical South Indian wedding at a resort in the outskirts of Bangalore started with Varapooja, Reception and actual wedding ceremony. We even arranged for a Cow and Calf with decorated Bullock cart to memorize the happiness of the recent Celebration of Sankranti. Also, Radhakrishna in Dry Coconut Carving was a great piece to keep eye on… As the families were staying abroad all the planning was started long back. Sana Sambhramaa team has put in a lot of effort for the meticulous planning The Long video calls, exchange of photos and videos to finalize the design have all turned out to be great fulfilling effort at the end to see them coming true on the D-day. Needless to say the couple and parents were very happy with all the arrangements. Meanwhile, we got in touch a couple who wanted us to decorate the new home for Gruhapravesham. It was a feast for eye….
After this we got immersed in the preparations of another South Indian wedding – this one was of North Indian Bride wedding South Indian Boy. A grand three-day affair, this wedding was as much fun and enjoyment as it was traditional. Right from the Mehendi and Varapuja ceremony to the wedding ceremony, everything was perfect and both the families showed equal enthusiasm and participation, and a post-reception celebration with close friends and family
Our team, being one of the most particular south Indian wedding planners in Bangalore, meticulously planned each and everything with the couple for months on end. VAIKUNTA EKADASHI ~I bow to you thee - the Preserver of the three worlds !
Vaikuntha Ekadasi (JANURAY 8TH,2017), is considered to be the most important Ekadasi in the Sri Vaishnava tradition. Ekadasi means ‘the eleventh’ in Sanskrit and refers to the eleventh day of the bright fortnight (shukla paksha) belonging to a lunar month. Vaikuntha Ekadasi is the 11th day in the lunar calendar after the new moon in Dhanurmasa (December 16 2016– January 13th 2017). It is considered to be the day on which the doors of Vaikuntha (heaven) will be kept open for all the saintly souls.
According to the Vishnu Purana, observing the Ekadasi Vrata (or fast) on Vaikuntha Ekadasi day confers the benefit equivalent to observing all the other eleven Ekadasis during the year. Fasting (according to one’s capacity), chanting the names of the Lord, visiting Vishnu temples are some of the ways this festival is observed.
Tumblr media
(above - LORD BALAJI of the Tirumala Hills in Andhrapradesh state ,INDIA)
SIGNIFICANCE :
In some temples, this festival is celebrated over five days with special Pujas on all days. Devotees also get a chance to go through a sanctified entrance called “Vaikuntha Dwaaram” (doorway to “heaven”) on the Vaikunta Ekadasi day and participate in the continuous chanting of the Vishnu Sahasranamam (one thousand names of Lord Vishnu).
Lord  Venkateshwara opened the gate of Vaikunta (his abode) for two demons in spite of they being against the Lord. They asked for the boon that who ever listens to their story and sees the image of Lord coming out of the door called Vaikunta Dwara, will reach Vaikunta.  For the same reason, temples all over India make a door kind of structure on this day for devotees to pass through.
The day is observed as a very sacred day by all the Vishnu bhaktas and many people fast on that day. It is believed that by observing a fast on that day and spending the day in poojas and prayers to Lord Vishnu, one will be absolved of all sins and will attain Moksha and the doors of Vaikunta will be kept open for the soul after it leaves this physical body. The soul does not have a rebirth anymore and attains the feet of the Supreme Lord.

LEGENDS
According to the Padma Purana, during the Krita Yuga (also termed the golden age), an asura or demon called Muran harassed both the devas (Gods) and mortals. Unable to bear his tyranny, the devas sought refuge in Shiva. He directed them to approach Vishnu. Vishnu agreed to help the devas and went out to battle with Muran. During the long battle, which lasted one thousand celestial years, Vishnu needed to rest for a while. He entered a beautiful cave called Himavati in Badarikashrama to sleep. Muran wanted to strike Vishnu while he was sleeping. However, Shakti – Vishnu’s female energy – emerged out of his body and assumed the form of a beautiful damsel who fought Muran and vanquished him.
When Vishnu awoke he was very pleased and named this maiden as Ekadasi and granted her a boon. The maiden said, “O Lord, if You are pleased with me and wish to give me a boon, then give me the power to deliver people from the greatest sins if they fast of this day”. Vishnu granted her the boon and declared that people worshipping her would reach Vaikuntha. Thus, it is said, was born the first ekadasi, which was a Dhanurmasa shukla paksha ekadasi.
Sages and devout people have been since, observing the ekadasi vrata regularly. Here, the demon Muran represents the tamasic and rajasic qualities in us. The import of the ekadasi vrata is that one can conquer rajasic and tamasic tendencies in us through fasting. This helps us reach our ultimate destination, Vaikuntha, which is the place or stage of no ‘kuntitha’ or dullness, stupidity and misery. It is also said that on this day the ksheerasagara manthana (churning of the ocean) took place and the nectar of immortality (amritha) was distributed to the gods.

Dhanurmasa - When the Gods Sleep.
Dhanurmasa – When the Gods Sleep.
Dhanurmasa,
I remember papa referring to it. I never really paid much attention, but this time round I thought let me actually see what this is all about.
From what I understand Dhanurmasa is when the sun enters the  zodiac sing of Sagittarius. It has been relevant since Mahabharata. It is believed that that war of Mahabharata was fought then.
this marks the last lapse of the journey of the sun…
