600 Followers Gift - Empty Bigg City

So I got to thinking, and it occurred to me that one way to get myself eased back into finishing development of Bigg City, The Overpopulated Version, was to go ahead and take some of the pics I’d need for the MTS Upload thread, make a couple of minor changes to a couple of lots that were changed during development, and package up the empty version as a Followers Gift. Making an upload thread for MTS pays off in the long run, but in itself is drudgery, so I only want to do it once for both versions; but the populated version could still take weeks, months even, to finalize, and a lot of people will only want the empty one, anyhow.

The map is, IIRC, the one for Desiderata Valley, and depending on your cameras the central commercial district and the working class housing may be hard to see in neighborhood view. There’s a little more open space than I’d like, but I got sick of leveling the terrain and this way there’s room for you to add your own lots, or ones I might make in the future just for this place. Many of the middle- and working-class residences are suitable for rental, and in fact the larger houses on Domestic Drive were specifically designed to be easy to duplex.

All the lot types available under BG+UNI+NL are represented, most in three levels - Fancy, Middle Class, and Seedy. I focused on new parks, restaurants, and clubs, ranging from practical lunch counters to extremely silly concepts (I am absurdly proud of the Dive-N-Dine and the Pool Hall, where your sims can drink and dive!). Keep your eyes open for the music venues where your rising rock star sims can get discovered!

This downtown has no character files in it. The two potential graveyards are empty. If you don’t have a mod suppressing them, however, you will soon start spawning new downtownies from the standard templates - including the entire Tricou clan, dead and alive. This will not cause corruption, as far as I am aware, but I hope you have nounlinkondelete and nocorruptdeath, on general principles.

Bigg City, Empty

Technical Stuff:   This is a downtown, not a stand-alone hood. It was made in an AnyGame setup and requires University and Nightlife  to use. No CC is installed, but in order to use it you may need Mootilda’s fix for the subhood chooser’s tendency to make only one subhood available to attach to a main hood.  I have given this version of Bigg City the ID Number of 92, so it  should not conflict with any other hood, but I suggest you back up your whole game before installing it, anyway, on general principles. If you have any problems, please let me know immediately.

To install, unzip the .7z file, change the name of the folder from DGBC - Empty to DGBC. Install the folder in the EAGames Program files (not under MyDocuments). Your exact file path will vary depending on your game setup, but what you’re looking for is the NeighborhoodTemplate folder of the Res folder of the TSData folder of the folder for Nightlife (EP2). If you find D001 (the Maxis downtown), you’re in the right place. Add it, put Mootilda’s handy fix into your Downloads folder, load up your game, add Bigg City to a neighborhood you just backed up (seriously, always back up before adding anything as big as this), and have fun!
